Politics / Bitcoin, Others Pose Danger To Global Economy -EFCC Boss by abouzaid: 4:14pm On Sep 07, 2021
The Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has said Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies portend huge risks to the world economy.

According to him, many criminals now play significant roles in crypto-currency markets, adding that virtual currencies had become their preferred medium of exchange.

The EFCC chairman spoke on Monday at the 38th Cambridge International Symposium on Economic Crime, themed, ‘Economic Crime-Who pays and who should pay?’

The event was organised by the Centre for International Documentation on Organised and Economic Crime, Jesus College, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, a statement by the EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, stated.

Bawa was quoted as saying, “The developments in new technologies and the growth of cryptocurrencies portray a far greater danger to the world economy than ever before with many criminals playing significant roles in crypto-currency markets.

“Criminals now elect to transact or receive illegal monies (such as ransom money) for cyber-attacks in cryptocurrencies with Bitcoins and Ethereum as the most commonly used mediums for these exchanges.”

He lamented that the sophistication and complexity that defines the dynamics of economic crime in the 21st Century continues to evolve, spurred by technological advancement in the global economy that has become borderless and transnational.

This he said had “inevitably led to the prioritisation of law enforcement action on crimes that drive Illicit Financial Flows across the globe”.

Politics / How I Escaped From Gunmen Who Killed Sowore’s Brother – Widow by abouzaid: 4:05pm On Sep 07, 2021
A woman, Emmanuella Anyanwu, who escaped from the hoodlums who reportedly killed late Olajide Sowore on Saturday, has said the gunmen demanded a ransom of N10m shortly before she escaped from the camp where she was kept with four others.

Anyanwu, who said she was on her way from Lagos to Imo to bury her husband, stated that she offered the kidnappers N500,000, but was called a fool.

She recounted her ordeal at the police headquarters in Benin on Monday.

She said, “On Friday, we were coming from Lagos to the eastern part of the country and our vehicle broke down around Okada on the outskirts of Benin.

“We passed the night in the vehicle. Around 6.30am to 7am Saturday, some men came out from the bush, shooting at us; we surrendered. We were two ladies and three men.

“They took our belongings, including our phones and marched us into the bush. It took almost two hours to get to their camp. They blindfolded us and questioned us one after the other.

“They asked me where I was coming from and where I was going. I told them that I was coming from Lagos and going to Imo State for my husband’s burial. They asked how many kids I had and I told them two. I also told them I sold groundnut in Lagos. They asked if I was the one providing the money to bury my husband and I told them his brother would do that.

kidnappers and they abducted me because of ransom. They said if I didn’t have money, they would take my life. I asked them how much they wanted, but one of them was furious I was asking them questions. I told them I needed to know what they wanted as ransom. They asked if I had N10m and I told them there was no way I could get that kind of money. I told them I would give them N500,000 from the money gathered from my village. One of them said I was a fool and they told me to sit down.

“Then it started raining heavily and they went away and brought another man. They took something from that man and their attention was on it. So, I removed my blindfold and crept away.

“I believe they are Fulani because on that Saturday afternoon, they released their cows and came to where we were being held.

“I saw a mast far away and I started trekking towards it. After one hour or more, I got to a road and saw an elderly man on a motorcycle. I asked him to take me to a police station, which he did.”

Asked if Sowore’s brother was killed by the gang, she said the hoodlums shot at different cars, adding that she could not tell if anyone died.

“They were harsh and warned us not to look at their faces. They also instructed us not to talk to each other. They beat the men, but spared the women. I sustained the wounds on my body when I was trying to find my way out of the bush,” she added.

He's just making noise to be noticed by his Fulani masters but he should bear in mind that Ebonyi is prone to violence therefore let him not start what he cannot finish against his people, they have the constitutional right to lock up their stalls and stay at home if they so wish. Even civil servants are subject to civil service regulations which cannot penalise them for not turning up at work due to non availability of transportation vehicles because commercial drivers were observing the sit at home protest. IPOB protested peacefully on the streets, the police and soldiers killed them, they protested in Churches and prayer grounds, they were still killed now they have decided to stay at home, the idiotic Fulani slave of a governor is threatening them with what he has no right to do.

I have my car but my wife doesn't have yet and our routes are not the same so My wife's colleague used to pick her and drop her from work.
Sometime in January, my wife told me he asked her out but insulted him and stopped following him in his car. So this week she started following him again, her reason was the guy has stopped talking about it but I am not comfortable with it.
When i confronted her about it, she started ranting about how she has to take care of our 3 kids every morning and still come back to look after them when she gets home by 6pm. Saying what time does she have to rest after the house chores and work that she will now be following a man despite her busy schedule.

N:B she is not the only one the man takes to work
if your wife have been going to work since January without following him, let her continue going to work on her own, you need to sit your wife down and tell her that you're not ok with her following the man to work even if he's no longer asking her out. Your wife following him to work again without first telling you and her twisted answer only serves as red flags, she might be innocent in this case but she's not a straight forward person by character. I don't just understand why Nigerian women would always invite unnecessary problems to themselves over meaningless things like saving on transport fare.

The Plateau state governor is the main culplit here, he's more interested in been a good slave to the Fulani cabal at Abuja than to save his people, that's how governor Ortom of Benue state was misbehaving then as an APC governor until the Fulani nearly wiped away his village. Unfortunately, it's now almost too late for the indigenes to seize back their state because the Fulani have gained a strong foothold there. The other known Fulani slaves causing havoc to their people are Governor Uzodimma, Umahi, Osinbajo etc.

It was mentioned back in December that Seun Kuti had the intention to register MOP ( Movement Of The People ) as a political party in Nigeria and he approached INEC with a document of interest for registration back in January earlier this year.

Well as of now they are holding the NEC and SEC elections for the party.

They've completed the manifesto, code of conduct and party constitution

They've set up secretariats in 5 states and FCT so far ( Lagos, Anambra, Ogun, Rivers and Kogi )

Once they've set up base in 5 more states then they approach INEC for final registration so we're currently looking at October this year latest January 2022.
i would surely join from Anambra.
Politics / Survivors Of Yelwa-Zangam, Jos Attack Recount Their Ordeals by abouzaid: 12:50pm On Aug 28, 2021
My mother asked the gunmen to kill her alone and spare us but they shot her and all my siblings —Survivor of Yelwa-Zangam attack recounts tales of horror

It was all tears at the Our Lady of Apostle Hospital, Jos, Plateau State during the week when relations and sympathisers besieged the hospital to see those who survived the attack on Yelwa-Zangam in Jos, North local government area of Plateau by gunmen said to be Fulani.

The attackers, who were in their large number were said to have invaded the community at about 8:30 pm. They destroyed the local bridge linking the community to the city centre with the primary aim of blocking any rescue mission or intervention from the neighbouring communities and the security agencies.

It was gathered from some of the survivors of the attack that the marauders, despite the curfew in place, came shooting sporadically and butchering anyone they caught up with before they began house to house operations.

A survivor who said he was returning from work at about 10:00 pm said he took cover under the bridge throughout the time the operation lasted

“For close to three hours that I was hiding under the collapsed bridge, there was wailing and crying from all the houses in the community while thick smoke enveloped the air as the marauders burnt houses.

“I could not run back and I cannot proceed to enter the community. I came out at about 2:00 am when I heard a siren from security vehicles near the bridge. They brought me out but could not go further because the bridge had been damaged by the attackers suspected to be Fulani militias.”

Reliving the attack, one of the victims, Blessing Adubir, who sustained bullet wounds on her leg and hand. said she lost her mother and six siblings in the attack.

She stated that the invaders arrived in the community at about 8:33 pm, and destroyed the bridge linking the area to the Jos city centre. She added that they shot their way into the community to probably announce their arrival shooting at random until they began house to house operations.

“We were preparing to go to bed when we began to hear gunshots in different directions. I and my sister Joyce went outside but were forced to beat a retreat as a result of a sporadic gunshot. The nine of us inside the house escaped to a neighbour house where we met other people.

“They force themselves into the house and discovered me, my mother and other siblings hiding in a room. My mother came out and pleaded with them to kill only her and leave the rest of us. One of the attackers told the other ones in the Fulani language to shoot my mother which he did. Before she collapsed my mother was still pleading with them to spare us, they shot at her again and proceeded to kill all other persons in the house. I was hit on my leg and my mother fell on me. I pretended as I was dead but watching them.

“They brought out the mattress in the house soaked it with petrol and also poured petrol on the chairs. They set the house on fire and locked the door behind them. The entire house was filled with smoke but I struggled to crawl out through one of the doors that was not locked.

“I was later picked by people I don’t know and brought to this hospital. Apart from other people shot and burnt to death in the house, I lost my mummy and six siblings. God will judge, If I die or survive this wound I will not forgive them. They may be happy wherever they are now, I know their joy will soon turn to sorrow” she cursed the attackers

Apart from this, Saturday Tribune equally learnt that virtually every family in the community was touched and presently in pain and agony. It was further learnt that almost all those who took refuge in the house of the community leader otherwise called “Mai Angwan” were killed.

A lady, Agnes Auta 22 years, who escaped with a gunshot wound now receiving treatment at Our Lady Hospital said immediately the sound of gunshots rented the air, a lot of people ran into the house of the community leader for a cover but the attackers later attacked the house.

She said:” They forced themselves into the house, shot everyone and set the house on fire. I was shot on the other leg but I held on to the book of Isaiah 43:2b which says when you walk through fire it will not hurt there” God gave me the courage I walked through the intense fire unhurt.

“There was blood all over the house, those who carried out the killings will regret it. We know them, some of them are our neighbours, we see them as neighbours but they see us as enemies. In that house, almost twenty people were killed,” she said.
