When you are discussing Financials of a company, state it as it is. Don't try to mislead people or embellish the facts.
You wrote this "A company with 49% increase in revenue YoY", this is different from "49% increase in data revenue in Q4 2020".
The company is not making 100bn a month because revenue of 100bn a month is different from profit of 100bn a month. That is why you should stop looking at revenue and look at other indicators like EBITDA which tells a better story than the story revenue tells!

The so called SMEs you are crying about are running on Telecoms infrastructure, should the Telecos die for the SMEs to live? It is business and not a charity organisation. Shareholders took risks and invested money in the Telecos, so the management needs to ensure shareholders are making money, same way the banks and SMEs shareholders want to also make profit.
In the markets you are comparing, find out if Telecos there have two Generators per base station running 12 hours each. Find out the power situation there.
Find out if there are arbitrary taxes by the central Government, State Government, local government and even non state actors like Youth associations, community development associations and Agbero.
In summary, the cost of doing business in Nigeria and the exchange rate makes things more expensive here.

In all the revenue figures you are quoting, What is MTN Nigeria's EBITDA margin? Why are you looking at revenue only? What is MTN's EBITDA Margin compared to its closest rival Airtel? Compare the EBITDA and maybe you will understand why MTN Nigeria is looking for where to cut cost and improve efficiency!

Same period last year, dollar was N360, dollar is N485 today. Businesses are increasing price of products and services, Coca-Cola just increased the price of soft drinks to N120, fast food outlets increased prices of snacks, Hotels have increased prices of their room rate.
Telecos on the other hand can't increase Tariff like other businesses because NCC is regulating prices in the Telecoms sector. If Telecos can't increase prices, they need to look inwards to cut cost and remain profitable. Hence the sales discount reduction, this will go along way to improve MTN's balance sheet.
You might ask is it only MTN that is affected by the harsh business environment in Nigeria that they are reducing sales discount? The bigger the head, the bigger the problem. MTN is the market leader, so naturally they will lead and others will follow. If MTN is able to resist the banks, watch out for other Telecos to also reduce sales discount.

Man's worst enemies are members of his household, they exposed him to ridicule from external APC forces who dislike his gut from outside his state. From i what i gathered he performed relatively well as a governor in Edo state. You lose to win some other time. APC lost his first staggered gubernatorial election at the polls immediately he was booted as APC chairman. He was close to indomitable, i am so certain APC would not have lost if he was still the chairman. He is a great leader.

I don't know much about edo politics, but i know this much that the current Edo state governor erred greatly by preventing over 12 or 14 state elected APC house of assembly members from being sworn in because he thinks they are loyal to Oshiomole.
