She is a virgin And from the linage of David

Yes, she was a virgin and also from the lineage of David. Joseph was of the line of David but no virgin from his line was chosen; perhaps they was one or there wasn’t one. If there was one, she was disqualified because concerning one of Joseph’s ancestors, the scriptures shows:

Jechonias (Matthew 1:11-12), called Coniah in Jeremiah 22:24-30, was so evil God cursed him and his descendants, saying, "Write this man down as childless, . . . for none of his descendants shall prosper, sitting on the throne of David, and ruling anymore in Judah" (verse 30). Jeconiah, as his name is spelled in the Old Testament, had children (I Chronicles 3:17), but he was childless insofar as none of his descendants ruled as king over Judah.

So when you say the lineage of David, being specific would be helpful.

You can shove your insincere and hollow thank you, back to where the sun dont shine that it came out from

Please give me a shoving tool. I’d appreciate it

"[sup]28The angel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
29Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.
30So the angel told her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
31Behold, you will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus.
32He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David,
33and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. His kingdom will never end!”
34“How can this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
35The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.
36Look, even Elizabeth your relative has conceived a son in her old age, and she who was called barren is in her sixth month.
37For no word from God will ever fail.”
38“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it happen to me according to your word.” Then the angel left her."
- Luke 1:28-38[/sup]

Though I earlier asked you to explain why you used "a preposterous message
" I think I see now that you used it in the context of believing what to the untrained, inexperienced and having little knowledge will class as ridiculous and so deride, but then the number one qualifier for a human being to receive favour from God is to develop an healthy interest in God and the things of God.

If you have no interest in God and the things of God (e.g. the Kingdom, His will, your purpose in the grand scheme of God's things et cetera) then faith and/or belief will never be on your radar to have.

I am not 100001% sure that Mary, knew her Bible well enough, as much as the woman with the issue of blood, who knew about the scripture that if she could just touch the hem of Jesus' garment (i.e. the loose flowing end) she shall be made whole and receive her healing and all this from knowing about Malachi 4:2. Praise God. Alleluia

As she buckled at Luke 1:34 with saying "How can this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”, it is to her credit and fair play to her for recovering when the angel worked on her enough to ginger up her faith. She was after all a virgin nah, so should have known straight up that she is the right candidate for such as time and thing as that.

"Now if indeed I have found favor in Your sight, please let me know Your ways,
that I may know You and find favor in Your sight. Remember that this nation is Your people.
"
- Exodus 33:13

"And the angel said to her,
“Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
"
- Luke 1:30

"Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.
(i.e. Come close to God, and God will come close to you.
)
- James 4:8a

"However, Mary continued to treasure all these things in her heart and to ponder them"
- Luke 2:19

Interest showing, is the mother of favour. Interest births favour. Showing good interest propels you to finding favour with God. Come near to God and He will come near to you. Show interest in God and God will show interest in you, back too. It's not rocket science.

I am certain that Luke 2:19, is not the first time of Mary treasuring up all these things in her heart and meditating on them. She defo all along had a healthy interest, she is humble, she is compliant and she was first choice.

It is the believing of a preposterous message that endeared Noah and Mary to God. The scripture says: without faith (in the word of God) it is impossible to please God and be satisfactory to Him (Heb. 11:6). Mary believed God’s word, perhaps in the reading of the prophetic texts at the Jerusalem temple, that a virgin would conceive a child - her being the virgin. She believed and it was accounted to her as righteousness (in conformity to God’s will in her thoughts and acts).

ThePlainTruth:
Was There Really a Virgin Birth in the Bible?
The more interesting potential virgin birth, though, comes from Matthew's explanation in Matt 1:22-23. There the text says that the virgin birth of Jesus took place to "fulfill" the prophecy that "the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel." Matthew is paraphrasing Isa 7:14.

But he is quoting a mistranslation. The original Hebrew text of Isa 7:14 is not about a virgin. Rather, the Hebrew used to describe the woman in Isa 7:14 is almah, a word that means "young woman." But then the Septuagint, an early translation of the Hebrew Bible into Greek, took the Hebrew almah and rendered it as the Greek parthenos, which means "virgin."

Source: https://www.bibleodyssey.org/en/people/related-articles/was-there-really-a-virgin-birth-in-the-bible

It means someone does the thinking for you. In Isaiah 7, King Ahaz of Judah was told to ask for an impossibility from God. Now, is it impossible for a young woman to conceive a child with insemination or is it impossible for a virgin to conceive a child without insemination? Whatever answer you give, will set you free.
The word recorded in Luke 1:28 charitoō meaning Favour as you stated(also be translated as grace depending on context like in Ephesians 1:6), is a description of a person's attitude and actions toward the one so labeled(in this case, God's attitude towards the recipient of the message). On its own, it says nothing about the character or attitude of the person being favoured.
Favour can be earned but more often than not, the concept of favour is that the person being favoured has a soft spot with the person bestowing it and usually has done nothing inherently to gain it(eg a man showing favour to a fellow kinsman).
The act of showing favour speaks purely of the character and attitude of the one who is bestowing it. This is often the case atleast in the Bible when it pertains to God and humans (God constantly showing favour/grace to undeserving humans). You can do a word study of ḥên(old testament) and God.
This is more evident in the only other place the word charitoō is used in the entire NT.
"to the praise of the glory of His grace(charitos), which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved." - Ephesians 1:6 NASB...
Most English translations also have freely bestowed or given except for KJV and ESV that render it a bit differently. But regardless of which translation chosen, the idea is the same. The charitoō is bestowed purely based on God's will
.

Thanks for your exposition. One thing is clear: All charitoō is given by God. The use of it to mean “grace” or “unmerited favor” is the perspective you have taken. My use of the word is taken from its etymology “charis“, a word that shows that the favored one is more like a child, friend or faithful steward. With charitoō, the favored one is more or less one who didn’t do anything special to be favored e.g a pardoned sinner.

With Abraham, we see God say: for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice. The favor (Charis) towards Abraham was because he acted to God’s delight -he obeyed God’s voice.

There's nothing in the NT that says or alludes to the statement that "Mary was the most righteous among all women that walked on the face of the earth".
The idea that there was something inherently different about Mary started out around the early middle ages and became part church tradition(or today, Catholic tradition). We do not even find this in the earliest Christian writings outside of the NT. The shift to Mary being pure, immaculate conception etc began from writings sometime around the 4th AD.

There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!” (Prov.31:29)

Maybe I overhyped Mary; but I did it in the light of the verse above. What qualifies one as the ‘most righteous’? Lemuel’s mother has to provide this answer. If it is said about King Hoshea that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him, then there must be acts he did that qualified him to be the best. It is said about Mary that, Blessed is she among women. Of all these and many more characters that the Bible spoke glowingly of, one thing is certain: they began to please God after they believed in His word, and its divine influence upon their heart, reflected in their lives.

Thanks for the mention, Acehart.

Mary was chosen to birth the Lord Jesus Christ because she received favour of the Lord. Though she wasn't the only virgin as at that time, and probably not the only righteous one among the lots, her choice was according to God's prerogative.

From her response to the angel that delivered the message to her in Luke 1:31, it's obvious that she had no pact with unbelief as she accepted the word of God spoken through the angel with faith.

True. She may not have been the only righteous virgin in Israel. But she was the ‘man’ for the job. David was the one chosen by God to deliver Israel; but we know he wasn’t the only righteous man in Israel. He was the man for the job as God told Samuel: I have found... a man after my own heart, who will do all My will

God is I AM that I AM, this descriptor phrase, carries the meaning that, God will do anything necessary, God will become anything necessary to fulfil His work and/or plans. If it will require God to jump from person to person to get who will do His bidding, so be it.

Thank God that isn’t His Modus Operandi. His word says:

And I will accomplish all My good pleasure'; Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man of My purpose from a far country.

God is not random or haphazard; He is not a predictor or a gambler. He is sovereign and His purposes and calling are sure. He plans all things and achieves them. If He jumps from the Heavens to the earth, His aims are accomplished. He knows He never fails. He knows all things and calls all stars by their name. He knows each number of the hair on the head; a strand doesn’t escape his knowledge. God works all things according to the counsel of his will.

Jumping like a man who can’t tell his left his right is excluded. If God fails in one man, he will fail in all men for there is none good. It is disrespectful to equate man to a drunkard who with blurry eyes misses the right door.

God doesnt force people to do His bidding or will. You either see sense of it, like Balaam, Saul aka Apostle Paul, even Yahshua Ha Mashiah aka Jesus Christ et cetera or you, like Pharaoh, Judas, et cetera don't

God doesn’t force people to do His billing; yet they must do His bidding. “For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”” One Pharaoh was the target and that Pharaoh was gunned down.

Your theology isn’t complete if it doesn’t understand the Sovereignty of God.

Mary, just like Moshe aka Moses, just like Saul, et cetera were appointed, called and/or visited because of the interest they privately nursed in their hearts. The angel would have never on the whim just approach Mary like that if she had never displayed interest in the scripture, in God et cetera.

God does not need to jump from person to person to get who will do his bidding.
He is GOD and can have his way through any situation, including the birth of his Son.
His choice of Mary was never a betting but a deliberate action.
His Son could have just falling from heaven and done the saving thing
Yes I stamped a like to the post, though

you ruined a very brilliant post with the concluding paragraph, when you fully well know that all people had sinned and came short of the glory of God

The meaning of the word “favor” is where you misunderstand: God favors (chên) sinners. His favor to them is counted as grace or kindness. When I said God will not favor sinners, I meant, God will not give those precious things He has in store for His children to them - this is the favor (charitoō) Mary obtained.

God in the person of Yahshua Ha Mashiah aka Jesus Christ came to die for all people who are sinners and that includes Mary, Acehart, MuttleyLaff, Goshen360, bodydiialect57, Methuselah, Adam & Eve et cetera

"Kosi nkan to le da isẹ Oluwa duro" loosely translated means "Nothing can stop God's plan and/or work from marching on" If Mary had not gone along with Angel Gabriel's discussion with her, the angel would have left her in peace and move on to a willing and ready to co-operate next human being to be a partner with God in His plan and work of bringing salvation, redemption and reconciliation back to Him. Praise God Alleluia.

Mary, just like Moshe aka Moses, just like Saul, et cetera were appointed, called and/or visited because of the interest they privately nursed in their hearts. The angel would have never on the whim just approach Mary like that if she had never displayed interest in the scripture, in God et cetera.

I spoke about Mary believing the words of the Prophet- for with the heart one believes. You sound contradictory in your last two paragraphs; Mary always believed the word of the Lord: she took to heart the saying of her 12 years old son and she believed in the gift of the Holy Ghost to Christ’s disciples - it was her pattern of life - remember those words: His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. There is no supposition in Mary’s case as you said: “if she had not gone along...” She always held fast to the pattern of sound words. To be a vessel unto honor, one must be saved.

Mary, the blessed.

In the reading of many journal papers, one thing common to all of them is the use of the term “keywords”. The term is used to draw the reader’s attention to the focus or essence of the paper. They are important words or concepts found in one’s research question. Keywords make one’s paper searchable. Therefore, it is important to include the most relevant keywords that will help other authors or researchers find your paper.

Keywords are always listed after the abstract of a journal paper or thesis, the first section the paper as they are drawn from the abstract.

Matthew chapter 1 has all the resemblance of an abstract: it begins with a context or background information. At the heart of an abstract is the main reason(s), the exigency, the rationale behind the research; here, the goal of this book is to tell many that Jesus Christ is the Messiah King. The main argument is the birthing of the Messiah by a virgin, a reference to a previous work done by Isaiah (Isa.7:14).

The keywords one can extract from the abstract includes (not limited to): Messiah, Conceive, Holy Spirit, Sins, Son, Virgin, and favor (from Luke 1:28).

We were told that Mary, the virgin mother, was favored. The word “favor“, charitoō (in Greek), means: specially honor due to one’s character, manner or act as a result of divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in one’s life. It is a mouthful; in simple terms, Mary was not a sinner; her manner of life was pleasing to God. The angel said to her: “Blessed are you among women”; Mary was the most righteous among all women that walked on the face of the earth.

The word “favor” was first used in the Book of Genesis to describe God’s mercy towards Noah. Like Mary, Noah was the only righteous person of all men and women that walked on the face of the earth. He was described as a preacher of righteousness (2 Peter 2:5). Before one preaches about God’s act, we know that someone preached to them to believe in God (Romans 10:14); In the times of Noah, Methuselah was the preacher.

Methuselah, a name meaning “when he dies, it shall be sent”. We do know now that in the year he died, the great flood was sent. Methuselah's name may be a prophecy that on the day of his death "his death will send" the flood. For a better part of one thousand years, one man preached that it would rain on an earth covered by mist; no one believed except Noah. Thereafter, his life was pleasing to God and he was favored with the ark - a type of Christ.

Today, the preposterous message to us is this: God came down to earth (through the womb of a virgin), died on a tree for men‘s sin, was buried in a tomb and resurrected three days later. We must believe this message to be favored by God. God will not favor a sinner because He would not give that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast His pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet.

Merry Christmas everybody,

Acehart

Your type give us the belief that an average christian knew nothing about God, and could not differentiate between God and Jesus. Simply put, THE GOD OF CHRISTIANITY IS NOT DEFINED!

If Jesus is the God Almighty (Jehovah) as you claim, Who was Jesus worshipping throughout his life on earth?;
Who was Jesus referring to God and Father, as found in many places of the Bible?;
Who was in control of the universe for the three days that Jesus is supposed to be dead in the tomb?

You are just in clear confusion! Even the Jehovah witness cult don't believe Jesus is the Jehovah!
Better read the bible with a clear eye and mind, and stop being a fool in this century, or you will just make Christianity an object of mockery!

You answered "Lord Of The Sabbath - What does Jesus mean here by this?" and "Why say "the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath”. What is the point. What's the significance in saying this?" in a convoluted way

I unreservedly or without demur concur with you that "Son of Man" means "seed, product or offspring, of a human being, human species, humankind et cetera"

Yahshua Ha Mashiah aka Jesus Christ, uses the title, to refer to the humanity side of Him, but why this deliberate and not impulsive statement? What point is He making with habitually referring Himself to be “Son of Man“? Why do we need to appreciate the fact of Him being “Son of Man“? What is the significance in Him being “Son of Man“? Is it relevant that He be the “Son of Man“? If Yes, that it is relevant He be the “Son of Man“ then why? What's the reason that He needs to be “Son of Man“?

Why does ""Son of God” means “One of God-kind” - A member of the God race" need to become "a member of the human race"?

If the usage of the expression “Son of Man“ was a pointer that one among them, Christ Himself, is those things listed in your response to preciousgirl, then what is the reason why Christ Himself, had to be one among them?

2) Why say "the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”. What is the point. What's the significance in saying this?
What is the meaning of "the Son of Man"?

1. I have answered your first question and the first part of your second question in the concluding part of my response to preciousgirl.

2. Ahhh! Let me try to give a brief response - I hope I am not wrong grin ; The meaning of the expression “Son of” is usually defined within the context it is used because it is an expression with a lot of meaning. If I have to delve a bit into my response, the meaning of “Son of God” means “One of God” (Suggesting that God is Plural). “Son of Man” means “One of Man” (‘Man’ used in the Plural). I don’t think what I have just written makes for good grammar, so, let me make sense with these expressions: “Son of Man” means “One of Mankind” - a member of the human race; and “Son of God” means “One of God-kind” - A member of the God race.

In the context of the reference text, the usage of the expression “Son of Man“ was a pointer that one among them, Christ Himself, is those things I listed in my response to preciousgirl.

Preciousgirl:

Mark 2:23-24,27-28

[23]Now it happened that He went through the grainfields on the Sabbath; and as they went His disciples began to pluck the heads of grain.

[24]And the Pharisees said to Him, “Look, why do they do what is not lawful on the Sabbath?”

[27]And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.

[28]Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”

What did Jesus mean by this? Thank you

It signifies that, amid and in addition to his other lordships, the Son of man possesses this also—that he is Lord of the sabbath day. He is Lord of angels, for they worship him; he is the Lord from heaven, and all its hosts do acknowledge him; he is Lord of earth, for by him it was made, and through him it is upheld; he is the Lord of all creation, for he is the firstborn of every creature, that in all things he should have the pre-eminence; "he is Lord also of the sabbath."

The Sabbath observance pre-dates Abraham. Concerning the Seventh day of the creation account, it is written: “They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day”. (Gen. 3:8).

I’d like us to see the meaning of these keywords from the verse:

1. Sound (voice) of the Lord God
2. The cool of the day.

Sound (voice) of the Lord God.

The word “voice” translated in the Hebrew as qôl has several meanings: cry, yell, thundering, deep sound, lowering (dark and threatening), proclamation, herald etc. What the proclamation was, we may never know; but we know that throughout the scriptures, when Christ, the Lord God, was to make an entrance into the world, a proclamation always preceded Him.

The Cool of the Day.

In simple terms, the ‘Cool of the Day’ means evening. In the OT, from the time of Noah to the times when the Jewish temple still stood, the sacrifice made to God on the Sabbaths were done in the evening. The most notable evening sacrifice that elicited thunderings, darkness, and the terrifying sound of an earthquake was that of the Son of Man on Calvary on the day of Yom Kippur, also known as the Day of Atonement, the holiest day of the year in Judaism.

The word “Cool” in Hebrew is translated “rûach” meaning: the spirit, to breathe, the wind, the mind etc. This word’s etymology means: ‘to smell’ (the savor of a sacrifice) and ‘make of quick understanding’. The word “day” in Hebrew is translated “Yom” meaning: season, period, appointed time, span of time, as long as one lives, etc.

Regarding the root of the word “cool” - make of quick understanding, the Hebrew word for “Sabbath” comes from the root of the verb: “to sit to study and get knowledge”.

This is closely related to the meaning of “day”; “day” represents: “a source of knowledge”, which is not complex for us to comprehend since nowadays many of us have this saying: “I learn something new every day” and, traditionally, “old age” (i.e. the passing of time) is almost always associated with: “wisdom”. Is there a biblical support to the conclusion?

I’d say, yes. In the interpretation of the dreams of the steward and the baker of Pharaoh, Joseph explains: “the three branches”, as well as, the dream of “the three baskets”, represent: “three days”. Branches of trees provide fruit, and baskets, traditionally, are used to serve bread.

In the scriptures, bread is a figurative expression for knowledge or teaching (John 6:48-63). (Even in tertiary institutions, the word “branch” in respect to any subject is used to refer to a specific field of knowledge). With regards to the figurative meaning of the word ‘fruit’, we have to go back to the same Garden of Eden where there is the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil; Adam and Eve didn’t eat the tree, they ate the fruit from the tree to obtain knowledge; so it is the fruit itself which contains the knowledge; and the tree should be seen as a source of knowledge as a teacher is a source of knowledge. (But their source of Knowledge was to be from the Tree of Life).

When we see the effect of eating the fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, Adam and Eve begin to focus on their flesh; this indicates that before eating from that tree, the Lord God was the only source of knowledge that they had; and if by definition, God is good, evil is the flesh. Then, “evil” is anyone who considers themselves “a source of knowledge about God” -this was Paul’s postulation to the Corinthian church who used sensuality as a means of getting the knowledge of who God is.

As a result, Adam becomes a source of knowledge besides God and we see Lord God saying this: "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil.

So far, we see that the Sabbath day was a day set aside for man to learn about the goodness of the Lord God; and that man was to sit before the Lord to acquire this knowledge. In contrast to the expression of the Pharisees who exercised evil on that day - in thoughts and action (Luke 6:9). Jesus drew their attention to the initial purpose of the constitution of the Sabbath - Goodness alone, in that question: “I ask you, is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to destroy it?"

Jesus claiming to be the Lord of the Sabbath is drawing our attention to the following:

1. He is the source of eternal life.
2. He is the sole source of the knowledge of God.
3. He created the worlds and man; He is the one who rested.
4. He is the one that was heralded in the Garden of Eden; and in essence, He is God.
5. He is the one that took the decision to expel man from the Garden of Eden.
6. He is the one that instituted the sacrifice of atonement, and appointed the Sabbaths from the Garden to the time of Abel to the time of Moses.
7. He is the one that caused the Mount Sinai to smoke.
8. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; including Moses.
9. He is Jehovah.

I hope I wasn’t too complex in my explanation. Please, feel free to ask any question in any part you have found to be incomprehensible.

Another one would have been motivational speaking

You see ehn...the personal aggrandizing one I am speaking of is almost like the motivational speaking type; motivational speaking has a lot of personal aggrandizement ingredients sprinkled in large quantities. Then they drive the congregation to pray to be like them or deliver them like the people whom the preacher‘s intervention delivered from hardship.

You forgot to put in there the conversion of a Sunday service to a prayer meeting; it usually happens when the pastor has run out of armour i.e. when his infusion of personal experiences to embellish Old Testament narratives runs dry.
