The significance of the policy is yet to be seen to be honest. If CBN really wants to control cash, then withdrawal limits MUST be tied to BVNs, not account numbers. The average Nigerian man has 3 to 4 cards. They can even get more if they wish. POS guys only need to get around 10 to 20 dedit cards and they're fine! Withdraw 20k with GTB, withdraw another with UBA, OPAY, FirstBank, and keep going.


The policy is nearly useless, in my opinion. Like the previous e naira, this one too WILL fail because we have a set of daft policy makers in that institution. Who sets limit on account numbers in a society with more than 15 DMBs and over 65 licensed online financial institutions with dedit card license? What's the purpose of BVNs??
