bittyend: This new interface looks rubbish, and it's not well defined. I like the extra features but you should kept the "table" format you before, rather than changing to "div" format. If you insist on you using the "div" - you should at least make it more defined - and specify a proper size for the "body" - rather than making the "body" take over the full screen.

You may lose a lot of forum(ites) with this new interface - this is just my two cent.
I beg to disagree.

NL will not lose anyone as a result of these changes.

True, they need to do some work on the colour combination which is hurting my eyes

musiwa,,.:
stop telling lies on the internet. They do not. it as been propaganda by nigeria govt to keep nigeria one.

We are looking at the satellite pictures , and there are many lies told to nigerian by nigeria govt.

Nigeria import over 70% of its oil. So if the import bring in the oil. The nigeria govt collect taxes on oil sold. And this is how it works. the oil is sold in all part of nigeria. And that taxes comes from all part of nigeria, and not from them alone.

Most nigerian never knew that the oil was been imported, they were told , they got the oil from the Ijawland. which was not correct.  there is crude oil in Nigeria but not the many lies told. The 13% oil derivation was based on wrong information too.

The man who wrote the Nigeria constitution was an Ijaw man called Justice Tobi, from Jonathan Goodluck ethnics group. So he included the 13% in the constitution and the people of Nigeria did not ask him to included it. The constitution read, we the people of Nigeria and to be honest with you. The people of Nigeria never had any meeting to that constitution. This is where the problem is.

So technically the 13% is not binding on nigeria topay anyone. because the constitution 1999 was never agreed on by nigerian. What it means is that technically, every state that have collected 13% may be ask to refund the 13% back to the govt because there was no such agreement, just an Ijawman call Justice Tobi who including it in the Nigeria constitution. Most nigeria leaders honestly do not read document before they sign. They mostly sign without reading. So I assume the person who was head of state at that time never saw it too.

So the 13% is not really binding on Nigerian. there was a conference but that conference was aborted before it during the abacha govt. Abacha die.

So the North is right, 13% derivation  is technically illegal because it was never agree on by nigerian, but was put in the Nigeria constitution by Jonathan Goodluck ethnic group member an ijawman called Justice Tobi. This is where the problem is.  The North is right.
Oh dude!

Your(Igbos)  hate towards AWOLOWO, made some Yorubas hate Ojukwu.

Awo and Ojukkwu were still friends after the civil war.

But Igbo propaganda  made Awo and Yorubas look bad.
Well, we welcome your hatred.

I don't hate Awo, only that he doesn't evoke my respect.

I assumed my position due to the following reasons:

1. Awo was the brain behind the starvation policy against the Biafrans

2. Awo was at the head of the £20 policy after the war

3. Awo tacitly encouraged Abandoned property policy

It might be possible that Awo was used as a front for those policies by Gowon and his bandits.

But how can Awo with all his education and intelligence descend so low to be used like rag by the junta?

Why did he participate actively in the crimes against Igbos?

Does he harbour ill-feelings against the Igbos prior to the war?

He single-handedly wreaked havoc on the relationship between the Igbos and Yorubas.

I wonder how many generations it will take to repair the damage this man did. But I know that it can't happen in my generation.

Though I might not have respect for Awo, but my outlook for Gowon is that of outright hatred.

The reason why Igbos don't take on Gowon is that we hardly see northern posters that attempts to deny the crimes committed by Gowon. But Yoruba posters are always in complete denial of crimes committed by Awo. So we tend to discuss the issue of Awolowo forcefully

It all comes down to marginalisation.

When Obasanjo unjustly bans Ibeto's cement, rice etc to give way for Dangote's ascendance, what do u expect?

Mind you that Biafrans are not close to the corridors of power and all the government policies over the yrs has been harsh to them.

But, individually, we are not doing badly compared to other ethnic nationalities.

Now tell me how many Chinese are in that list? Does that mean that Indian or Nigerian economy is performing better than that of Chinese?

Yes oo The Yoruba lineage of Akintola a civilian who rather than run away to Abidjan, took up arms and fought Igbo military coupist till he lost his life valiantly.

Rather die a brave man than live a coward (Ojuku)

The lineage of Abiola who fought and died for his mandate rather than run away to Abidjan like Ojuku

If Effiong was like Ojuku and also fled to Cameroon what would be your lot today

I hail heroes like Akintola, Abiola and Effiong not cowards like Ojuku

Only an irresponsible leader would run away leaving his populace to die like roaches

The b1nch fled the war front and left the populace to die

What a shame to war generals.

God bless Effiong a true general who waited not the biatch who fled
Abiola should cover himself with shame in the grave. Mandela spent 25yr in prison. Aung San Su Kyi spent 20yrs in both prison and house arrest. Mikhail Khodorvkosky is in prison at present. All these people are democracy activists. None of them fled abroad in the face of danger. But Abiola could not overcome his Yoruba gene of cowardice. He eventually fled abroad on Aug 4, 1993. I was taught in primary school that kakanfo is the bravest of all yorubas. No wonder yorubaland has not christened another kakanfo 'cause they felt thoroughly embarrassed by the actions of their last one.

Now enjoy your relaxation with the real democracy activist(Mandela) jibe at your fake kakanfo

Nelson Mandela, in a thinly-veiled criticism of Abiola’s flight, said that during their struggle against apartheid, they didn’t run off abroad, but stayed at home and fought their oppressors

Fajuyi felt quite safe. However, on the 25th of July, a contingent of heavily armed troops, all of the Northerners, speeded from a nearby Barracks to The Governors Lodge Ibadan. The time was about 8pm. Fajuyi was entertaining his guest, General Agui-Ironsi. The troops easily got access to the sitting room. Without being announced, they forced themselves into the sitting room. They knew their victims. Without any ceremony, they ordered General Ironsi to stand up and be searched. With no struggle from Ironsi, he obeyed. One of them began to handcuff Ironsi. Fajuyi could not comprehend what was happening. "You can't do that” he bellowed.  "Why? You keep away “The most senior officer of the troops ordered Fajuyi.  “He is my guest, and you can't do that to him right in my house” "We've come to take him away” Responded one of the officers. "Take him away to where?” "That's none of your business; you keep away and sit down”, ordered the most senior of the rebel officers. But Fajuyi continued " I am a Yoruba; and we Yorubas do not allow gangsters to kidnap our guests from our home I can't let you hurt him “Fajuyi insisted. “Very well; Yoruba man; we'll teach you a lesson. We'll take both of you, “said the senior officer as he administered a hard blow on the face of Fajuyi. Then the troops pushed him and Ironsi into a waiting Land Rover.
(J)    Both men were then driven to a nearby bush and shot. The time was only nine o’clock

Dede1:
Francis Fajuiyi was not the first soldier to confront team of coup plotters nor uttered such words because there was no time or ear to listen to such nonsensical sermon from a soldier who has no command of a broom.

The soldiers who confronted the team of coup plotters in government house in Ibadan were Njoku and Nwankwo. Andy Nwankwo even drew a pistol on T Danjuman who had grenade with the pin pulled. I had been resourcefully informed that events which took place in government house was more of a military style action than sermon reading scene depicted by this excerpt from publication of 1967 western region of Nigeria’s gazette.

Thanks for being responsible enough to talk Issues than throw muds.
I actually decided to read about the Civil war Instead of being brainwashed by people's perception.
I made some observations. The Nigerian Army during the Civil war had the support of Cross River (where some Nigerian infantry came through Obudu). Bonny and the whole portharcourt hosted another Amphibious Comandos with all pleasure. Another group came from Edo who felt their land was forcefully occupied by Biafran Soldiers. The Main Group came from Benue/Present Kogi overriding Nsukka within few days of Biafran's declaration.
The Cross river, Portharcourt, Bonny, Edo did not in any way resisted the Nigerian Army.
This Infers that they are not on the side of Biafra.
If they have changed their orientation within the last 45 years, then It is a good thing not necessarily for them, but for the Igbos that would like to court them into Biafra.
But the lobbying must present to them their benefit in the prospective country. And they must be convinced with a convincing plan that they won't be used and dumped.
If that is guaranteed, then their alliance will be a step further in the actualization of an Igbo Nation.
Note also that they can also negotiate for a new name for that prospective country, since they could declined the Igbos forcing down their throat the Name, "Biafra".
With great unity of purpose and wider consultations, It is achievable.
The minorities were simply intimidated into joining the side with the superior firepower. The eye of the nigerian army were simply blood-shot, in murderous frenzy and were looking for people to massacre at any slightest provocation or suspicion of disloyalty. Remember what happened in Delta when the villagers refused to demonstrate their outward show of hatred for their countrymen. Edos would have met the same fate have the not massacred the Igbos. Let me refreshen your mind by reminding you that the minorities were part of the eastern assembly that voted for secession. So I refuse to buy into the notion that the minorities weren't properly consulted.

The election on June 12 1993 that would have swept the types of characters into power is not something any progressive Nigerian would have seen as worthy of remembrance. These people including Abiola have been in power or around the corridors of power before and after June 12 1993. They contributed to making Nigeria a mess for us all, before and after June 12 1993. Their record suggests that even if Abiola had become president, nothing much would have changed from the misrule we have been subjected to before June 12 1993 and since.

1. Abiola, for all his fabled wealth prior to his election campaign, was effectively bankrupted by his efforts. The only way in which he would have been able to restore his fortune would have been to assume the office which was so summarily and brutally denied him,” Edwards Angell Palmers & Dodge stated.(The coward bitch wants to bankrupt nigeria. 2. About one-third of northerners voted for Abiola, seeing him as being more independent of the military than Tofa. After the following months of Yoruba protests, however, Abiola lost support in the north as the Hausa/Fulani began to fear southern domination.(abaola was loved and supported by all nigerians)

@dogrice-I respect ur opinion. just know I am not ibo. I believe in the unity of Nigeria.
@dayokanu-please google 'deserters in war'. click on the wikipedia link. Deserting during wars is as old as man. Besides, top military officials in countries like Libya, Egypt and Syria changed sides during war, some fled. It is on record that Ojukwu fought a supported and better equipped army. The west supported the NA. Even Gadhaffi could not win cos of NATO support. Gadhaffi was trying to escape before he was killed. Would you then call Gadhafi a coward?
For people that think Ojukwu failed cos he lost the war or sth, just know ''it is better to try and fail than not try at all''. If most Nigerians are like Ojukwu, the country will be better than it is today. Thank God, Nigerians are beginning to fight for good governance but we are not there yet. The fuel subsidy protest is a good example of Nigerians DEMANDING good governance yet we could not take it further when the NA occupied the streets. For people that still call Ojukwu a coward, why did majority of Nigerians accept the #97/litre petrol pump price? Why did we(including me) not occupy the streets and face the NA? Why, cos nobody wan die so lez respect a man who could mobilised an army to fight a better equipped army. That Ojukwu lost the war doesn't mean he failed. If Ojukwu is a coward then most Nigerians(including the big names that fled during Abacha's regime) are worst cowards considering the fuel subsidy issue.
Let's be objective and stop being tribalistic,
For people who call Ojukwu a coward, answer
these questions-can a coward with a sound and good education in his time join the army to serve
his fatherland? Ojukwu was one of the few well-
educated Nigerians at that time that could have
remained in the Uk and enjoy himself. Ojukwu left
the wealth and affluence of his father to find his
calling. Can a coward deliberately ignore personal comfort and bliss for others? Can a coward start a
full blown civil war against a better equipped army?
let
us talk about Abiola,
Abiola is a philantropist, politician and a cheated presidential election winner. Abiola won the hearts
of most nigerians through philantropy. He could do
that and even anyone can still do that because of
the high level of poverty in the land. Abiola
collected with one hand(ITT), SANCTIFIED his money
through philantropy, succeeded in winning the hearts of Nigerians through good works(not the
power of oratory like Obama and a well-designed
plan to transform Nigeria), contested for
presidency, won but was cheated. The silly and
dumb (who do not know the laws of power or
read any book on power and politics like Robert Greene's 48 laws of power) went and declared
himself president, Abiola is NOT a martyr. His
ignorance and stupidity killed him. He just followed
the motion without paying attention to the overt
and covert power games, lez give it to Abiola for democracy yet what has democracy done? What major change have we noticed apart from telcom and IT. Prices are soaring, poverty remains, *to be continued*

This is the Whole Truth. I hope every sincere IGbo man can Learn from this Ozodi Thomas Guy. If care is not taken,by the way younger Igbo generation are going, they may repeat the Pride and Arrogance that saw them loose in a shameful way in BIAFRA despite having initial sympathy!  The PROUD and BOASTFUL nature of the IGBO man is Abhorrent and Reprehensible. you find this trait even in the most illiterate and poor amongst them. Talkless when he has a little money, that Complex will become too obvious.  Even in their marriages, should an Ibo Woman be financially privileged more than her husband, she becomes untameable. I have actually counselled a lot in this area. Think of it, if Nigeria actually Breaks up eventually where will ALL the IgBO go??. , They have no land that can contain them and we all how they fight amongst themselves for the available parches of land that have not suffered Erosion. Would they migrate to Ijaw, Efik or Bini territory or even the Yoruba they are subtly denigrating in their numbers, Can you imagine what social tensions it will createhuh? When whole masses of People begin to compete for finite resources of Land, Jobs, Markets, Businesses, Political Appointments with other people, and IN THEIR TERRITORIES. I dont want to even imagine what will happen, not especially with the prevailing Igbo man's psychology and the negative stories their parents fed into them after the WAR!  We should thank God for a forum like NAiraland which any discerning reader might come to and feel the pulse of how different people really feel on issues., ,  and be Guided. One of my mentors told me of why the minority tribes hate the Igbo man during the War!,, The Igbo Man's Arrogance! As a non IBO it was difficult for him to Enter UNN in The Early 70's despite being from the East; But UI offered them a place. During the War, the igbo men who were in Majority began to extinguish their few enlightened SOns in hope of A complete TakeOver and domination if Biafra should have succeeded, it was some of these neigbours taht correctly interpreted the intentions of Ojukwu who swung to the nigerian side and showed the nigerian army the secret paths to Igbo land.  BIAFRA is A FAILED IDEA- and it is ignominously represented by the Picture of starving Biafrans and OJUKWU FLEEING AWAY IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT disGUISED as a WOMAN!! What a Shame!!   The  IGBO should not mistake the Solidarity and Support from Southern Minorities for stupidity.  Before, you leap, watch! I think that while the igbo may be Industrious and action oriented, they Lack people Skills and social culture to win others especially wherever you have a sizeable number of them or where they have a little money to throw around- It is ALWAYS their Achilles Heel, hope they guide against this.  PRIDE always goes before a FALL!!

You are more stup!d than I earlier thought. You side-stepped the glaring fact of how hypocritical Ibos are by writting few psychobabbles. I wasn't expecting any coherent meaningful response from a dehydrated goat like you.

If Nigerias election is free blah blah blah . . .why don't you just spare yourself and Ojukwu the shaming by agreeing that you betrayed him? Which part of your "if election is free" blabbing made the dolt to support IBB and indulged all Ibos home and abraod to vote for him? Are you this daft? I mean even if his amnesia is chronic, he(Ojukwu) should know that IBB is a devil before canvassing support for him or changing his name from IBB to- Ibrahim Bodamasi "Okechukwu" Babangida(IBOB) . shocked shocked shocked shocked

Secondly,
Peter Obi is the only political achievement the slowpoke has to show? O ma se ooo. This was the man you fools claimed to be your "beloved" one, even Tinubu was able to register a political party and wrestled 6 fuckin' states from PDP and even made his wife a senator , while the "beloved" Ikemba couldn't even win a senate seat shocked what a shame!

Dip your head into the gutter and feel better. Swine!!
I will give a response to your haphazard rants during my leisure hour

Hmmm, let's see.
First, it shld b abiola and okorocha, then obj and ojukwu. But since the sense aint there for d OP, lemme kill his moral.
Undstnd dt d fight of june 12 is alwys called d stepping stone to d stay democrasy in nigeria today. In fact, ibb still kept apologising to nigerians today. Now, to ojokwu, was he really not d cos of hatred among various tribes in nigeria. And he's one reason why igbos think they're better off. See, he's a typical ibo man seeks to survive and grab power and wealth all for his sake. Abiola is a philantropist well knw.
And to think it's a shame not to be buried in his homeland, then u don't undstnd the yoruba people of today, nobody places a stup¡d importance on stup¡d things. They are far more civic than you. I knw u start a war if he wasn't buried in his town. Abi? ¡diots
Abiola is a common thief and a looter. How did he get his money for philanthropy?

Ojukwu was loved by his people yet he contested for senate and failed, contested for presidency and failed, start a political party APGA and failed, Supports IBB before PDP primaries and failed, was abandoned in the hospital in London with a lone Filipino nurse frustrated and dumb.  shocked shocked

Is this what you call being "loved" by his people? We must be using different dictionary, I guess.

Best burial?. . .only vultures celebrate the dead! The vulture will wait patiently, looking at how helpless the rabbit struggles with life, before decending to feast on the carcass. The Ibos fit in perfectly here, most of the loons shouting here, quitely wait for their "beloved" one to passed on silently and painfully in a low quality hospital, before using his burial to score cheap political points. What a pathetic set of animals.

The fools did not even allow their "beloved" one to buried before fighting for his title, the son couldn't even wait for the his father to beruied while the junior brother coludn't wait for his wife to take off her mourning wears before mounting her! This is how Ibos celebrate their "loved" once. Vultures!
Dumb, inarticulate comment from a tribal maggot.

Nigeria's election is now free and fair in your analysis that people wins election easily?

You should direct your inquiry at the elements that are bent on rigging election.

As far as I know, Ojukwu can never lose election in Igboland.

Ask Ngige, what happened to him when Ojukwu endorsed unpopular Peter Obi
PoliticsRe: Ikemba Ojukwu Vs M.K.O Abiola: Who Is More Popular In Nigeria? by ACM10: 7:06am On Mar 05, 2012
Abiola simply was a thief and made his money on the back of the suffering common masses of Nigeria.

There is no basis for comparison between Ojukwu and Abiola
