Abagworo: I'm happy an Igbokwe has spoken with his conscience. Let me also add that Professor Ben Nwabueze has also spoken.Pray tell me any well-educated first lady in Nigeria's history. This man is a card-carrying member of ACN. So his outburst is expected. Nigeria has never had an intelligentsia as our president, so it's no surprise that our first lady's were also half-baked. Birds of the same feathers flock together. |
akpomeme: When Ameachi took Omeha to court over being elected under the PDP as governor, the court acknowledged that the people voted PDP and not Omeha and by virtue of the fact that Ameachi won the primaries of the party before his travails, that he is the rightful Governor of Rivers State.I think this comment makes sense. I will leave the legal experts to debate on this issue. |
The status of an eagle arouses the envy of a hawk(translated to my mother tongue by my signature). Haters quit hating before arteries burst in your brains. Congratulate Ogusbaba and move on. |
*"From all the available records of service in Soyinka's trajectory in life, there are legions of references to suggest that he is a man of dual personality. *It is a matter of fact that Soyinka served in the Babangida regime in the capacity of Chairman, Federal Road Safety Commission. *It is also on video tape that he publicly endorsed the Structural Adjustment Programme of the Babangida era. *It is also a matter of fact, that he had always abhorred the objective behind the Nobel Laureate until he was made a beneficiary. *It is on record that he accepted the second highest honour of Commander of the Federal Republic [CFR] during military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. *The award was to shore up his profile against the wholesale criticisms by his colleague writers, of his Nobel Laureate which they said he did not merit. *It is on record that he went overseas to campaign against the democratic elections of 1983 won by Alhaji Shehu Shagari, on account of the elections being rigged. *It is also on record that his tenure as Chairman of FRSC was not the best of times for the organization. He ran the Commission as his personal fiefdom. *When the Abacha regime tried to investigate his tenure of the FRSC he went on self exile. *It is a matter of historical correctness that he walked into the studio of Western Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation in 1965 to substitute a pre-recorded broadcast of the Premier just to cause chaos. *Typical of a man whose upbringing was admittedly characterized with storm and stress, he established the Seadogs Confraternity during his undergraduate years in the University of Ibadan. We all know the implications of that confraternity in the life of Nigerian universities. Such a man cannot, by every societal standard, be a role model. *In the light of the above, it will be appropriate to say in very unambiguous terms that Professor Wole Soyinka is suffering from pathological self-righteous hypocrisy of the first order. *The fact that he tries to exonerate himself from the life span of an administration that he served in, is suggestive of low leadership quality. Leaders must be able to own up to their responsibilities and should be accountable to them at all times. *That has been the hallmark of General Babangida. For sure, IBB is no capuchin [saint] to borrow the word of Napoleon Bonaparte but he knows his onus when it comes to leadership and service delivery. *A man like Soyinka who cannot... cannot possibly wear the toga of a moralist in the African sense of it. |
So the only criteria for this $hit to hit frontpage is mere mention of nairaland? Inferiority complex na disease. |
Malawian: i knew they would try and bring ojukwu and biafra into this arguement. typical yuruba. He can't debate without talking about Biafra |
This a very intelligent observation made by Ngwakwe. . . Ngwakwe: Wole Soyinka activism never contributed any dime on the ascension of GEJ to presidency. The House, Senate and Some members of the Executive Council were responsible for upholding the constitution.Adekunle was advocating genocide, while Soyinka was against human right abuse and genocide in Biafra. |
AdeXXander: see this Monkey too,you dont know anything but you want to follow the Crowd in bashing NigeriaAre you this allergic to criticism? Nigeria's military is equipped with antiquated hardwares. Your bad manners can only exceed your bad manner. |

Amoured tanker on rubber tire. . .you gotta be kidding me. |
You want the inventor of AK-47 to die rich? ![]() |
What is this doing on frontpage? I can see that disgruntled westerners have launched a campaign to malign her. Starting with their supposedly educated prof. calling her "a mere domestic appendage". They will fail. |
Ola Johnson: Tell us your stand, was the spokeman of Patience Jonathan right for attacking the person of Wole Soyinka rather than the issue the prof raised? Was emperor Soyinka right to call PEJ "a mere domestic appendage?" Ola Johnson: WS spoke against what Turai Yar'adua did. He was part of the SNG that called for GEJ to be made the acting President. ![]() Ola Johnson: How old are you? I asked because you once told a member of this forum that you're married. You keep on saying things that are not relevant. WS never graduated with a third class. And if he did, is it not obvious it is far better than today's first class? This comment does not deserve my response. |
Miss Abia is too ugly. . .tufiakwa! I know that Umuahia babes are beautiful. There must be a serious flaw in the selection process for that girl to emerge the winner. |

Yet kidnapping has not been brought under control. |
Peter Obi's attack dogs on the loose again. |
lanryB: It's soo sad to think that even d youths support d vigorous constitutional aberration our political leaders are making us go thru.........thumbs up to prof. Wole Soyinka...,at least despite all odds; he still pointed that out......& also no matter ao diminishing Patience words towards him may sound...he ll yet remain a WELL EDUCATED N RESPECTED FELLOW unlike most of our overrated leadersSorry, we have to cut emperor Soyinka slacks. The man has been over-reaching lately. He is snowballing to controversial character. His criticism is selective. Haven't heard him criticize the ACN goons. I don't support Jonathans, neither do I support emperor Soyinka and his verbal diarrhoea. What happened in River state is despicable, but emperor Soyinka has no moral cred to point his stubby finger at anyone. |
FAST-LINK:Did he reduce the accidents on Nigerian roads when he was the FRSC marshal? What is his track record on education? He introduced cultism. Graduated with 3rd class. What will he give back to Nigerians in academics? |
Where was Soyinka when Turai Yar Adua was acting as the de facto Head-of-state? |
I lost respect for Wole Soyinka after he launched attacks on Prof. Chinua Achebe before his burial. That man is now playing partisan politics. |
Where is Centje? Centje, someone is raising the standard o. You better buckle up. |
With these quality of graduates, River state house of Assembly debacle is not unexpected. |
Clerverly: Nigeria is really a failed entitySurprised to read this comment from you, Okija juju. Yet, you want your kinsmen to remain in this useless union. |
Can someone post a picture of rock python? It must be a fearsome snake. |
Really? |
I'm beginning to like thelastPope. I dig the way he is demolishing the arguments of ACN/APC lapdogs. I think he will be a worthy replacement of Beaf. |
How does that affect Nigeria? Less revenue. . . Everybody! fasten your belts, hard times ahead. |
Where is Ndu_Chucks that looks toward China as a replacement for US? This shows that China has no respect for Nigeria at all. I'm surprised that he was not receoved by a regional government commissioner. |
