Did you ever look at someone and think, "He is so lucky. He has money, he's in a great relationship and wow -- what a great career, being able to travel like that?" I've done it too. And as my mind entertained this thought, I would find myself in an often depressing place overthinking about reasons why I wasn't as successful as "that guy." I wasn't so lucky. I wasn't lucky to be born with good looks or into the right family. I wasn't lucky enough to have the right education or lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time. But as I grew in my career and in my life and by meeting lots of people from all over the world in so many walks of life, I made this profound realization: Sure, we can be born into it and fall into it. But so many successful people I met -- from couples in blissful long-term relationships to successful career women to billionaires to profoundly happy people who have very little -- became "lucky" because they think differently and take certain actions. As I thought about my own journey of learning to deal with uncertainty these days, I realized that in the absence of luck being granted to us by the lottery of birth, we all can get a chance to get lucky. Here are 21 reasons why some people get lucky in life: Lucky people... 1. Work hard... quietly. They don't boast, toast or celebrate. They do. Toiling away at their craft day in and day out. They don't announce it on Facebook or tweet about it on Twitter. Lucky people get busy working. 2. Surround themselves with positive people who build them up not tear them down. Life is hard enough as it is without having to worry about negative people slowing you down. 3. Put positive seeds into their mind every single day. All of us wake up with sometimes random thoughts that can debilitate. By proactively choosing the right words and actions, some people overcome those morning limitations set by the mind. They have certain rituals. A morning run, meditation, prayer or their morning cup of coffee while walking the dog. 4. Fight the overthinking mind each day. You are not alone. We all overthink choices that lie ahead. It can be a daily battle. Is it in their DNA? Maybe. But increasingly I've learned that some people -- especially happier people make a choice to limit their overthinking mind. 5. Have a clear purpose. Lucky people have a crystal clear objective. Either to provide for their children more than they had growing up or to successfully launch their business. Whatever their cause, lucky people have a magnet attracting them to their goals. 6. Accept imperfection. They don't say, "It's not a good time right now." But they do say, "It's always a good time right here and right now." They know the right time will never come to them. They have to go out and make it the right time. 7. They don't gossip or pay attention to the critics. Lucky people don't get distracted by the naysayers, doubters or haters. They don't allow the negativity to enter their mind. Shrugging off a desire to gossip or respond to critics, lucky people smile and keep walking forward. 8. They feel more than they think. They are often driven by emotion and passion about their endeavor. Thinking is important but often we let our minds direct us forward. And when we face difficult circumstance, we are conflicted between what we think and what we feel. Lucky people seem to lead from the heart not the head. 9. They focus on the goal, not the plan. Plans can change. Chaos can interrupt the best laid plans. But goals don't. Happy marriage, talented kids, meaningful work and a successful career -- these usually remain constant but how we get there can change over time. 10. They take lots of action. Lucky people have a bias for trying things, even if they may fail. They create certainty by moving forward rather than sitting still. Momentum goes when your energy flows. 11. They are open to meeting anyone, anytime. Talking openly to anyone who'll listen to their ideas, lucky people smile and engage -- opening up their minds to chance meetings with strangers where one thing can lead to another. 12. Remain in the day to day. Letting go of the past and focusing on the present moments, lucky people direct their effort at what they can control right here and right now. Not worrying as much about yesterday or tomorrow. 13. They get hurt by the setbacks and the failures as much as anyone but they keep going because they know that they'll come out of it. They have this powerful belief that tough times pass and that if they persevere long enough, they'll get through the failures. 14. They believe in themselves. They're not arrogant. Lucky people feel that all of us have this inner strength... this resiliency of the human mind that can achieve great things. 15. They're always curious, asking questions of the simplest things to everyone they know. They want to understand how things work. They are explorers wanting to get to the bottom of things. They welcome new ideas, thoughts or observations. 16. They know that getting to success is never a straight line but a path full of curves and side roads. Lucky people zig zagged their way through life often in uncharted waters. 17. Are grateful. Recognizing that life is not a right but a gift, lucky people act with great humility. 18. Admit that they're not that smart. Lucky people become smart and learn by trying. They read. They toil. Admit their faults. Apologize quickly and move on. Recognizing that happiness and success in life comes from constant learning. 19. They serve others. From launching a new business to sustaining a happy marriage requires serving someone else than yourself. Lucky people give generously to others through their effort in their jobs, careers, business and their personal lives. Their effort is found on ensuring others have what they need before their own needs are met. 20. Know that they're not born lucky. They become lucky by studying, working and refining their craft. They are not born smart but become smart by reading, developing, cultivating and growing. Lucky people don't count on luck. They make a choice to think differently and to take action. 21. They're hungry. They want it badly. They believe they have something of value to give to the world and are aching to give it. Lucky people jump out of bed in the morning. They sacrifice -- giving up the luxuries of the modern world (TV, Facebook, etc.) -- so that they can get to work fulfilling the promise they make to themselves. |
ajabani4allah:try oshodi main market or alaba international |
macklef:many of this info marketer are hungry lion. They just do copy and paste and look for fools who they can sell to. Generally entrepreneurship is really overated. Those who even preach this are not successful in what ever they are doing. At times I look at some of these preacher and felt sorry for them. I see where a petty trader who even claimed to be an entrepreneur , hardly make end meet. All stock in shop is not even up to 200k. |
Nairobi:you are surely married. Actually talking from experience. Most married women always pretend to be nice especially when it involve family matters , and people see the men to be wicked not knowing that 'he who pays the piper calls the tune' |
LAX89: He's a typical Nigerian, that's why he's worrying about comfort first.the guy love pleasure more than hardwork. what's the benefit of the office and IT gadgets he wants to procure in a farm settlements. Will all those lead to increase in productivity that may increase his profit margin. He is just a pleasure seeker |

onlinebenefits: but going to school does not guarantee you successbeing entrepreneur does not also guarantee you success. There are also so many broke entrepreneur. Only few successful ones are celebrated. Entrepreurship is overrated. |
Who are the real entrepreeur? An arm robbers, fraudsters, prostitute and even a common petty trader, who hardly make 10k in a month will call himself or herself entrepreneur. No innovation, no outstanding skill , some dont even the technical and marketing skill to run a business and still claim to be an entrepreneur. Some business are just jack of all trade, commodity 'me too' product, usually with poor system in place, labour intensive, dependent only on one or two people. No residual income, no brand, poorly leveraged products, and most of these businesses have too many competitors as a result the owner dont build relationship just do transactionc, the salesperson always looking for the sucker ,always selling as a one off deal. And someone still someone still businesss owner an entrepreneur. |
UjSizzle: It's general knowledge that the average Nigerian is a Jack of all trade.its always easier to complain, condemn, castigate, curse than to profer solutions to problems. So don't take people by their words, its easier to talk, but to walk the talk is where the problem is. |
Caseless2: I will make sure i'm not as clueless and weak as gej.But ure still clueless for making this type of comment. The quetion is what will u do differently if u find urself in position of GEJ |

what of china?is it education that brought china to where it is today technologically? |
Ahasco: What was I going to say againyes , right leader can bring a great change, but when and for how long are we to wait. Its as if black in general can not bring this changes because africans are not endowed with good leaders. |
Frankenstein: Why are they withholding the names of the sponsors.I just pity those people whose lives have been wasted.I knew everything is political from the onset. Is the SSS not aware of this? |
Truth is finally coming out. |
Australian negotiator Dr Stephen Davis continues making shocking claims now alleging that Boko Haram pass a large amount of their finances through the Central Bank Of Nigeria (CBN). Dr Stephen Davis This comes days after the expert, who had spent 4 months in Nigeria’s North-East negotiating for the release of Chibok girls abducted by insurgents on April 14, said some politicians from the opposition sponsored Boko Haram. In an exclusive phone interview with the Nigerian TheCable, Davis insisted that Boko Haram commanders told him that a top CBN official (name not provided by TheCable for legal reasons) was involved in funding the insurgency in the country. When asked by the journalist about where Boko Haram get the financial support from, the 63-year-old experienced negotiator said the source could not be traced because “it is done through a legal channel, through the gatekeeper, the CBN, and that makes it very easy to cover up”. According to Davis, one of the biggest suppliers of arms and military uniforms to Boko Haram lives in Egypt and receives money sent by political sponsors from Nigeria. However the legal transaction of the funds is carried out with the help of the CBN, Davis added. He also revealed that the involved official is a relative of Abuja bombings suspects. “Meanwhile, the CBN official who handles the funding is an uncle to three of those arrested in connection with the Nyanya bombings. The three boys lived with him. They were arrested by the SSS (Department of State Security) after the bombings but they do not seem to have been interrogated about their uncle in CBN. Or if they have given up information about their uncle then the SSS has not moved against him… Also, a senior official of CBN, who recently left the bank, was very close to Sodiq Aminu Ogwuche, the mastermind of the Nyanya bombings who also schooled in Sudan. Boko haram commanders said Ogwuche’s wife used to visit this top official in his office at the headquarters of the bank in Abuja before the Nyanya bombings. Explaining why he decided to finally make the revelation, Davis said it was because the Nigerian authorities were slow in handling the security issues, specifically the kidnap of Chibok girls. Davis, the father of 3 daughters, said it was “heart-breaking” for him to think of what the Nigerian school girls might be experiencing in Boko Haram captivity. Davis, who was PhD in political geography, narrated that he first though that politicians might be involved in the insurgency, when his efforts to negotiate on girls release were sabotaged: “The political sponsors are very powerful because they supply the finances and the arms. Until they are cut off from the group, those girls will not be released. We are talking about 200 Chibok schoolgirls, but there are over 300 other girls that have been kidnapped. There are many young men that they also kidnapped and turned them against their families. They asked them to go and slaughter their family members and they are doing it. Nobody is talking about those ones. They are the new child soldiers.” The expert several times repeated that the first thing to do to enable children’s release was “to stop the bagman who supplies weapons and military uniforms. We know his name, location and associates. If the man is stopped, the slaughterers, the ritual arm of the group, would be demobilised. The girls can be released afterwards. This man controls these ritualists.” It would be recalled that more than 200 girls abducted in Chibok on April 14 by Boko Haram insurgents are still held in captivity. Foreign analysts from all over the world provide their expert opinion on who might be responsible for supporting insurgency in the country. In one of the recent editorial a Russian expert spoke about how and why the Nigerian opposition might benefit from terrorism
