@op, if your wife is the "spend all" type, then, you have to apply wisdom, before you declare all the money you have, make sure you have saved some for the rainy season, so that, there wont be "biting of fingers" when the need to spend on necessary things arise.
BUT
If shes the prudent type, its better to be open with and to her, it even helps in planning for the family, since she knows what is available, she wont demand for what she knows you cant afford.
