how are u sure that he will not be found guilty? even at that the arrest stays on his record. I dont patronise pastors, if I did, I would expect my pastor to be of higher threshold instead of innocent until proven guilty kinda of pastors. |
Rush never said anything racist about Black players. Infact, he adores the game and the players. This is a guy who has been on the air, 3 hours every week day for 25 years and the statement used to deny him his fundamental right to enter into a contract was cooked up. Doesn't that show that accusations of racism against him are totally bogus. There is nothing that I hate more than race-baiting and this is something the Left in this country does regularly. Becuase of this saga, many conservatives have determined to opt out of their subscription for the NFL ticket on cable or Dish. I would have done same if I had a subsription. If my politics is not acceptable to you, why should my money be? We are on a very slippery slope NFL is not interested in politics, Rush made some racial comments about McNabb, so you can put a positive spin on it. Being on radio 25 yrs does not guarantee him the right to buy into any NFL franchise. NFL may not allow any of its teams to be based in Las Vegas becuase of Casinos. Time to have a different look on Rush and his power. If he could not muscle his way through, then he is not as powerful as he seems. Remember he never endorsed McCain and he won the primaries. |
Since its not his court, he cannot do as he chooses? The man did not do as he chose, he simply explained he could not marry them and referred them to someone else who could. It is just marrying people for crying out loud, it was not like he was to perform life saving surgery on them and he refused or something. lol If a policeman refuses to respond to a 911 call? Is marriage now to be compared to surgery? See me see Parallels ooo!!! Racism? Favoritism? na wa ooo!! It seems you do not have an inkling of what paralles are. He refused to marry someone because of their skin color period. It's not his sweat shop but a state court. His job function is to marry folks period, his opinions are not needed. Its only a court of law can say otherwise. There is no legal precedent for his actions, rather there is a Supreme court ruling against his actions. Does every 911 call lead to surgery? Imgine if a police officer refuses your call and refers it to "someone else"? Even though your friend posited that interracial marriages dont work . Folks like this racist is a gold mine for lawyers. They go about looking for people like him in HR depts . As per racism and favoritism, this man is as ignorant as some us are cos his action was outlawed by Supreme Court in 1967 loving vs virginia. It sounds like Bob Jones University that prevented interracial dating Business owners like pharmacy shops have some privileges. For your information a shop owner has the right to detain you if sh/e has reasonable cause to believe that you are shoplifting, its called shopkeeper's privilege but the same law is against false imprisonment. |
Tayo-D take it easy. its called free country where majority caries the day. Rush has got the right to buy into any NFL franchise, but he has to find a willing seller. transaction is established when a seller aggrees to sell at a price and buyer agrees to buy at that same price. So in the case, the transaction never took place. I guess his past statements came back to hurt him. He was judged by the same standard he would use to judge others who might have different political inclinations. If he minded his political business without tongue lashing black players, it would not have been an issue after all RAMS are not doing good anyway. Mark Cuban's utterances came back to hurt him when he wanted to buy Chicago Cubs. Mind you that Mark Cuban said things about NBA and officiating not about race or some other disparaging statements about a group of people. |
Wrong. It is NOT HIS Court, It is the people's court. He is only one of judges who works there; he is just another Judge in the court. If He cannot do it, there are others who can. Sort of like when you go to the DMV. If the one cannot speak Spanish, they get you another who can. Since its not his court, he cannot do as he chooses. What if a police refuses to respond to a 911 call because you have got an accent?Maybe he feels that illegals are enjoying free services where they do not belong? It seems that some of us do not understand the meaning of racism or we are defending indefensibles. If you do a favor to someone by helping him or her get a job/position he/sh is not suposed to get without ur favor, then it's called favoritism, so when a judgement is delivered based entirely on race its called racism. As per the racist having black friends, Strum Thurmond had a black child with a black woman even though he resisted desegregation at all costs. Ted Hargard was opposed to gays but patronised gay prostitutes. |
at 25, it seems everything is going well for him. Why is his family rushing him to get married early? Is he the 1st or only son? Maybe his family is well loaded and he's the apparent heir ? Or maybe his parents got married late in life and are dire need of a grandchild before they pass on. |
EKET, Nigeria - The 9-year-old boy lay on a bloodstained hospital sheet crawling with ants, staring blindly at the wall. His family pastor had accused him of being a witch, and his father then tried to force acid down his throat as an exorcism. It spilled as he struggled, burning away his face and eyes. The emaciated boy barely had strength left to whisper the name of the church that had denounced him — Mount Zion Lighthouse Nwanaokwo Edet was one of an increasing number of children in Africa accused of witchcraft by pastors and then tortured or killed, often by family members. Pastors were involved in half of 200 cases of "witch children" reviewed by the AP, and 13 churches were named in the case files. Some of the churches involved are renegade local branches of international franchises. Their parishioners take literally the Biblical exhortation, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." "It is an outrage what they are allowing to take place in the name of Christianity," said Gary Foxcroft, head of nonprofit Stepping Stones Nigeria. ‘Children are defenseless’ For their part, the families are often extremely poor, and sometimes even relieved to have one less mouth to feed. Poverty, conflict and poor education lay the foundation for accusations, which are then triggered by the death of a relative, the loss of a job or the denunciation of a pastor on the make, said Martin Dawes, a spokesman for the United Nations Children's Fund. "When communities come under pressure, they look for scapegoats," he said. "It plays into traditional beliefs that someone is responsible for a negative change , and children are defenseless." The idea of witchcraft is hardly new, but it has taken on new life recently partly because of a rapid growth in evangelical Christianity. Campaigners against the practice say around 15,000 children have been accused in two of Nigeria's 36 states over the past decade and around 1,000 have been murdered. In the past month alone, three Nigerian children accused of witchcraft were killed and another three were set on fire. Nigeria is one of the heartlands of abuse, but hardly the only one: the United Nations Children's Fund says tens of thousands of children have been targeted throughout Africa. Competition for congregations Church signs sprout around every twist of the road snaking through the jungle between Uyo, the capital of the southern Akwa Ibom state where Nwanaokwo lay, and Eket, home to many more rejected "witch children." Churches outnumber schools, clinics and banks put together. Many promise to solve parishioner's material worries as well as spiritual ones — eight out of ten Nigerians struggle by on less than $2 a day. "Poverty must catch fire," insists the Born 2 Rule Crusade on one of Uyo's main streets. "Where little shots become big shots in a short time," promises the Winner's Chapel down the road. "Pray your way to riches," advises Embassy of Christ a few blocks away. It's hard for churches to carve out a congregation with so much competition. So some pastors establish their credentials by accusing children of witchcraft. Nwanaokwo said he knew the pastor who accused him only as Pastor King. Mount Zion Lighthouse in Nigeria at first confirmed that a Pastor King worked for them, then denied that they knew any such person. Bishop A.D. Ayakndue, the head of the church in Nigeria, said pastors were encouraged to pray about witchcraft, but not to abuse children. "We pray over that problem (of witchcraft) very powerfully," he said. "But we can never hurt a child." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33356826/ns/world_news-africa// |
We warned Okonjo Iweala and Charles Soludo to share this money before these cabals came in. People wey go Harvard could not understand simple work of sharing the moey. Now these cabals are showing them how to spend. U na Ttoo much book |
tunde, Like i told you still have not told us who is going to build and transfer. your analysis appeals to emotions not factually based. Top Five Airports in the world and Africa are efficiently owned and managed by government. If you are talking about concession then its a different ball game. You dont have all the facts on ENRON and you are still arguing about it. You counter arguments with facts not with emotions. Why do you think that FG is responsible for all Lagos problems? After all Lagos was better managed when it was the capital than the current state of affairs. However, I was asking about some of these companies pledging millions of dollars. With the exception of Trafigura, the rest seem like Nigeria companies which are fortified with political cronies. One of the companies Telsy Energy Consulting & Investment Limited has only man as the founder and this is a company that is going to deliver power project. This is another ENRON waiting to happen, cos you are absolving LASG of wasting state's resources on fictitious projects. ENRON's project with LASG was an IPP (Independent Power Project) so saying that Lagos was not supposed to make any money out of it is shear blindness to facts or fallacy. My issue is that LASG has the same maintenance culture as FG and this well intentioned project will decay once Fashola is out of office As per Bi-Courtney, they built on existing infrastructure, eg urban planning,MMA1, original architectural and engineering designs. They built for local airline industries not international. However, power project is not the same thing as structural engineering. I bet you that companies like Julie Berger may not have expertise on power projects. There is a historical precedent in Nigeria that we have successfully built airports, but no one man company has ever built a power company. Ask deeper questions, U should verify some of these lies being fed to us by govt. |
Your argument lack credibility if you honestly believe say Lagos state government is funding the new airport. lol @ Lagos is over crowded. so we should stop developing lagos because it's over crowded? abeg stop the opaks, But you guys have not provided me with different facts to drive home your argument. Would I be asking these questions if Dangote wanted to build an airport in Lekki FTZ. I dont know of any major airport in Africa that was not govt funded. Even in the west, most intl airports are owned and finaced by govt. Dont show me emotion for the love of Lagos, show me some facts. Lagos is over crowded, but it needs other things to be rebuilt not new aiport |
This Bankole is clueless or delusional. I think Bayelsa was the last state to be conncetd to NEPA and now there is no electricity. The problem with ND is a reflection of what is going on Nigeria. Show me any region or state that is happy with FG? |
tunde, U still have not answered the question who is going to build the airport if not LASG. What did you mean that ENRON joint venture with LASG was not profit oriented. Its either you are insulated from facts or allergic to them. It was really stupid of LASG to investment in ENRON's project without any benefits. Maybe that's why we have follow follow leadership. You sound so clueless on investment. So you mean that LASG just threw millions of dollars into EKO river without anything to show for it? ENRON recouped its investment by selling it shares and Bola Tinubu and co lost everything. Would the likes of Trafigura build airport? Its an oil trading company for goodness sake. Do your research and stop feeding us hypes and propaganda. This is a company that was responsible for dumping toxic waste in Ivory Coast that killed a lot of people some years ago. Your analysis of Calabar FTZ is wrong because Lekki is modeled after Dubai which was a dersert before everything came into being, so Calabar offers different alternative to overcrwoded Lagos. Calabar should be a pilot programme for future Naija's FTZs. Has Telsy Energy Consulting & Investment Limited built a power generating plant before? What's their track record on power plant design and utility? Does Cornerstone Consultants Limited have any existing power plant in Nigeria? This sounds like another Trancorp and Pentascope in Nigeria. You should have known that LASG's investment into ECONET is under investigation by EFCC and London Metropolitan Police Nigeria: (March) Enron's shares in Lagos power plant is sold to AES after government accuses Enron of secrecy and bad faith in contractual obligations. World Bank provides concessional loan to Lagos power plant. World Bank approves loan to privatize Nigeria's power, telecoms, air transport, and Lagos water sectors. http://www.newswatchngr.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1348&Itemid=42 http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php?id=2278 http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P1-79491511.html |
ma friend 4rm okitipupa is a confuse person, pls can someone help me explain to him what private investment means nd pls how do u make area boys accountable when you didnt appoint them in the first place. Maybe u have a problem with the man himself abi cos all u have been saying is against the lagos state govt nd not against the or in support of the topic in question.Pls before anyone says anything else on this thread i think they shld know dis has nothing to do with lagos monies. Maybe you should tell us what private investment means since Fashola is championing this project. Your posted link does not in any way mention that those said companies would pick up the tab. I think your problem is selective amnesia. Any evidence to show that LASG investments outperformed FG's. Another New York wannabe mentality. LASG is having trouble figuring how to recover its investment in Econet wireless. Can you tell me how much LASG invested in ENRON and how much it recouped. What happens when Fashola is out of office in next few year? What is your understanding of MOU? What is happening in TINAPA? West Africa accounts for only 14% of Africa's air traffic and you can the imagine what's Lagos share of that 14%. MMA is just 7th busiest airport in Africa and handles just above 1/4 of Joburg Aiport air traffic |
another evidence that Nigeria is failed state. A small group of militants brought it down to its knees. Just imagine when we have all these quasi militias all over the place eg OPC, Boko Haram, Zango Kataf, Massob, Mend and Co. Mend shows that it can bend the will of the govt. |
tunde to ma friend in okitipupa, the lekki free trade zone is not a lagos state funded affair, dat is why u need to shield it from PDP ppl,nd u need to come nd see the stadium the lagos state govt has here in surulere.WORLD CLASS. and at redsun, there is nobody to put heads together with in Nigeria except average citizens and am sure so many ppl that oppose this development approach re not living in Nigeria that is why your comments have been dis way.Se na yaradull u wan put your head togeda with abi na im vice wey no get portfolio You still have not answered the question. Who is going to manage this airport when fashola is gone? The LASG that could not account for its investment in Econet or the same LASG that cannot hold area boys accountable. LASG is not Fashola. State owned investments do not outperform FG investments. How much income does LASG stadium generate? By the way who is going to fund this airport if not for the govt? |
Remember that Fashola will be out offfice in next few years and what happens when he's gone? Wouldnt the same lack of maintence at MMA besiege lagos state airport? There isnt much difference between LASG and FG when it comes to infrastructural and financial management, unless LASG would be in partnership with a private entity so long as LASG is not calling the shots. let say LASG controls 25% of the investment. Could anyone tell me if there is any difference between National stadium and Lagos State stadium |
i thought they would consider Gani Fawehinmi. If likes of Yaser Arafat won, then Obama is a higher threshold |
Ghana is not even a major trading partner with US. Mauritius does more business with the U.S than Ghana. So why does Ghana want to kick out " Africans" doing business in their enclave? http://www.agoa.gov/resources/US_African_Trade_Profile_2009.pdf |
summa cum laude why did we start appending these words to Naija certificates? |
how about govt debts that are non-performing? |
We warned OBJ and Soludo to share the foreign reserve with the "masses" they refused. Now, Alhaji Umaru Dikko brought up guys ( Yar'dua and Company Looting Unlimited) are now in control and they want to share money amongst themselves. Cabals and oligarchs in power. Way to go Naija |
this man freaking crazy. he thinks that population is power. maybe he needs to be lectured by chinese on why they are strick on population growth. Mr bluetooth you should get out of your narrow minded train and see that sustainability of population is the way to go. If u problem is Alaba market, go ask JAMB why they are more alaba market drop outs trying to get admission into higher institutions. |
I've been with Nigerian men but I don't think I would like to share my life with one. You sound as if you ve got something like Oprah to share. I wonder if u have got a lot of baggage so guys are not easily enthused about settling down with you. Chics like you think that they all need to be women in order to get hitched, naw it aint gonna. You have to meet guys half way. Sometimes, some women think that men are not wired to say no. ie single mom was telling her friends how this guy with no kid was not ready to settle down with her. i think we need to have a reality check. |
http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5465440-146/story.csp# Nigerian engineer, Jude Igwemezie, has won a $500 million contract to build a monorail network in Iraq. Mr. Igwemezie trained and lives in Canada; he also heads TransGlobim International, the engineering company that won the bid. The contract is to construct what is described as “a viable rail transportation network” for the city of Najaf. The network will connect three Islamic holy and historic mosques in Imam Ali, Kufa and Sahle. Frustration of selling good ideas in Nigeria An elated Mr. Igwemezie told NEXT in a telephone interview that the project is billed to be completed in three years, and will be built in two phases. The first phase, he said, will cover the design, construction and operation of the system while the second phase will involve the expansion of the system and its extension to the Najaf airport and the final phase. Mr. Igwemezie, who said he has been involved in negotiation with Nigerian officials in the last 18 months to construct several rail lines in the country, disclosed that it took “only two months to get the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) executed with Iraqi officials”. Hinting at his frustration to offer his services to Nigeria, Mr. Igwemezie said, “as a Diaspora person, I kept coming back, knocking, to help Nigeria. On the other hand I can’t knock forever.” Problem of railway in Nigeria Mr. Igwemezie, who wants to build a standard guage railway system from Lagos to Calabar, believes that Nigeria is a place where railway service is going to be “profitable and successful because of its size and population and because we have a demography similar to that in Europe”. However, he said, the bane of railway in Nigeria is that “we have brought the wrong people to help us”. Gains of railway Mr. Igwemezie, who lost his father in a road accident, believes that the railway line will take pressure off the roads and rid them of the unnecessary delays and loss of lives associated with road travel. He described the Benin-Ore road as “a killing field”, and said with the construction of the East-West corridor, there is no reason why someone who lives in Benin cannot work in Lagos since it will only take two hours on an express line to get to Lagos from Benin |
suffice it to say that Clinton Foundation accepts donations from all over the world? Its time Nigerians matched dreams with actions. We are at it again, calling ourselves giant of africa this and that while other nations like ghana, botswana and SA went to work. Mr Yar'dua has now shifted it to Vision 2020, so every time we are about to hit the date we move it further. Its like every time a striker wants to score we move the goal post further. |
We have to be weary of these dream projects. Bola Ige and ObJ said they would eletrocute all Nigerians with too much energy from NEPA, little did we know that they were planning to plunge Nigerians into darkness. What happned to visiion 2000, 2010 and all those dream projects? Inasmuch as I respect Clinton global inniative, let's remember that sometimes they make bad judgement. Was it not Clinton who told us when he came to Abuja that Philip Emeagwari invented the fastest computer in the world? It later turned out to be false. Emeagwari has turned out to be a scam. So lets hold on and see the completiong of the Atlantic city like Tinapa. Remember Dora Akunyili and all her awards? |
hope this not a way for naija police to dispose folks of their cars. U cant even ship cars with liens, let alone stolen ones. there are some sites u can long on to show if there is a lien on car/truck. I dont know, but there is something missing in this story. |
This is what happens when you just ingest talking points from the dronic Left. It is part of the lies you guys just propagate. How many Economists did you poll to make such a bold and very misleading statement? I meant economists who were in rhetorical audience. It was in bold characters in my previous post. Not every economist's opinion mattered when stimulus debate was going on. My point is this, why aren't you telling us what right wing economists saw in the economy that made them come up with the idea of having a stimulus? Who proposed to Pres. Bush the idea of having a stimulus? Why did Bush authorize some stimuli before Obama came in? Apart from the CBO that declared that the stimulus will do more harm than good, here's some information for you to digest. Cherry picking CBO's endorsement. Was in favor of a stimulus, but no need to use it as bench mark. The Cato Institute, a non-partisan think tank that takes broadly free-market views, was frustrated enough by the conventional wisdom in Washington that it took out a full-page ad on page 11 of the New York Times on Wednesday. The ad, which will also appear in Roll Call magazine and Thursday's Washington Post, is signed by scores of economists and says "we do not believe that more government spending is a way to improve economic performance." Any historical precedent in US to show that in deep recession Govt should not do anything? Greg Mankiw, a Harvard economics professor who was chairman of George W. Bush's Council of Economics Advisors, is a self-described stimulus skeptic; he recently pointed out the Democratic Congress' own budget office says that only 8 percent of the proposed "stimulus" spending will take place in the 2009 fiscal year Where was this fellow when his boss was mortgaging American future in order to fight the war in Iraq? Where was he when Bush signed into law economic stimuli? |
The problem is that most Nigerians are running business that do attract the middle class to their joints so that we can spend more money on them. The have hijacked buildings and turned them into squealers and hey Ur post is even xenophobic in nature. Always blaming Nigerians for SA's problem. SA has a high population that thrives on drugs even HIV drugs. What are you trying to achieve by calling Nigerians hijackers. Are u saying that they took over a neighborhood by not paying rent? Or are you saying that more Nigerians live in that neighborhood? |
tayo-d, The difference between you and me in seeking facts is that I do not use Keith Olberman as a benchmark for comparison, but your posts are always derivatives of Rush Limbaugh, Hannity and co Facts? Are you really seeking facts? Question. Was Wilson's accusation at Obama the truth or was it a lie? Was Obama economical with the truth when he said illegals will not be covered? Was he economical with the truth when he declared in the same SOU address that a man's insurance was declined during treatment which led to his death? These are issues that can be confirmed by data and not the subjective accusation of racism at a man who has genuine policy disagreement with a decietful president! Let's kill this argument since we are not looking for facts. Even factcheck.org confirmed Joe Wilson's tirade to be false. I am still waiting on yoy to give me reasons why your friend and mentor Joe Wilson not Joe the plumber would make statements these statements and u still think that this man doesnt habor any racial bias against people of color. Sometimes these things just go on," Wilson said. "These are heroes of mine. I really hope these would be heroes to future generations of Americans. (The stories) are , a way to diminish their contributions to our country's existence "It's a smear on the image that [Thurmond] has as a person of high integrity who has been so loyal to the people of South Carolina |
Tayo-D, your unflinching loyalty cannot let u separate facts from fictions even though you are an educated fellow. Can tell me where I have pointed to racism without facts ? I said it has got some connotation of racism and I backed them with facts. Rep. Joe Wilson antecedents on racial issues are there for you to see. If in America, track record matters a lot, why are you not discussing his past statements on racial issues instead of saying that someone who's holding him accountable for his action is guilty as well. I thought your mantra was guilty by association, maybe its changed to guilty by raising questions. It's either you are delusional or bereft of cognitive thinking that I was and I am still judging his actions not by his skin color. It's really like a kid whose lunch money was taken by a bully and he complained and he was labeled guilty as the one who stole his lunch money in the first. |
