Who would have imagined that Nigerian citizenship would be a treasure! Maybe we should be taught by these guys on 101 reasons why we should hold on to our citizenship. |
hope u can hold yourself to the same standard? Are u telling ur mum and family what's going on in your family as well? |
But why did he recieve the money in the first place? What and where is the proof that the money came from Ibori? Can someone explain this to me? How should he prove it without taking the money? Even FBI gives out the money, but its always marked like the case of US Congressman from Loiusiana who took bribe to influence a contract in Abuja and Atiku was his accomplice. |
these clueless politrickians should be asked if they could send their kids to the secondary school they attended. |
this is second term agenda in disguise |
4play at the time of the Wiki article, will surpass South Africa's around 2020. but this man is saying that Nigeria will over take South AFrica in 26 months. Folks are defending this utter stupidity and recklessness of thoughts from a Central bank governor. He does not know that he is not a politician. |
Reasons to support deregulation of the downstream sector: Subsidy has been bastardized in nigeria. Government officials and oil marketers collude to inflate prices, which mean government is paying a lot into private pockets. Lets say the selling price of PMS is N80/litre and the pump price is N65 the government pays the N15 difference. But if due to corruption the marketers and government officials tell government it’s N90. It means N10/litre will be paid into private pockets. It could be worse because there are fluctuations in prices all the time, creating more room for corrupt practices. How is this supposed to be in the interest of the masses? Our borders are porous, meaning we have been subsidizing not only Nigerians but our neighbors (Niger, Benin republic etc) through smuggling of petroleum products to them enriching private pockets in the process. The only reason for smuggling out of the country is because the product has been subsidized and thus cheaper. It’s subsidy that is killing investment in local refineries due to sabotage. I don’t think deregulation will add more to masses’ suffering. Yes there may be initial hardship, but I believe it will eventually subside later. These things have a way of creating more cash flow in the system. This would make sense only if NNPC is outlawed as the only manager of petroleum resources in Nigeria. Telecommunication analogy does not quite fit because MTN, Econet were placed on the same pedestal with NITEL. Why is it that they are only talking of selling to Nigerians finished products as deregulation? NNPC gets about 300K bpd for local consumption, what happens to that? What's cost of refining per barrel? How much is a litre of petrol in Libya, Venezuala , S. Arabia and Iran? Why is cost of petrolt in Naija is almost the same US?.eg N85/ltre X4 =N340/gallon while US it's about $2.60 a gallon about N390. Naija worker is begging for N52,0000 while US workers make minimum of $7/hr |
paddyboi Last i checked we are just coming out of a world wide recession, let me give u some facts in case u have been asleep for the last 2yrs, I don't know where u got this fact since FG is injecting $2 billion into the economy. I don't know who has been asleep for the past 2years, Nigerian economy has been under severe stress for the past two years. I would want you to succinctly point to the areas of the economy that are bucking the trend. 1, Nigeria still has the largest foriegn reserves of any country in africa at $44bln, yes larger than south africa, larger than israel, larger than egypt, check the economist.com website for details, if u are in doubt got this mixed up with excess crude account. 2, The united states, and european union, had to inject massive capital to bail out most of thier banks and insurance companies, just 2 days ago the us treasury had to inject another $2.5 bln into GMAC bank just to keep it alive, mostl arge banks in the u.s only survived due to govt intervention, they are now derisively called zombie banks, like citibank and bank of america, 3.Foriegn renmittance is a problem for all 3rd world countries, mexicos was down something like 70% due to the recession, same for FDI, infact russian capital flight was so bad last yr they had to spend almost half of their massive $800bln reserves to defend the rouble 4, baltic dry index is probably off 80% from its highs for all countries, (that is the index itself) 5, Budget implementation could be better, but for Nigeria to really grow fast we have to 4get Govt budgets and prime pump the private sector. It seems to me that you are agreeing to all the points I listed earlier but one, now can we maintain an economic growth that will outpace that of South Africa in the next 14 months? Our benchmark here is South Africa not Eritrea. Back to GPD debate C + I + G + (X – M) Textbook definition of GDP C= Consumption, I= Investment,G=Govt expenditure X= net exports,M=imports. Could you tell us where Nigeria has done well in to respect to all these factors and why it's likely that it will overtake SA in 14 months. Please make your points so that some of us who don't know anything about economics will understand. |
So what economic indicators that make up Naija GDP did SLS use as his benchmark? Anyway 2012 is 14 months away, let's c what's going to happen. I already know the answer going by bola ige and obj promising that they were going to electrocute every1 with enough electricity in 1999 |
What do we mean by FACT? This is a forecast by SLS. So using population as basis would even count against us if we are talking about GDP per capita. China was growing at adouble digit rate b4 recession while US grew by less than 5% China maintained double growth for over a decade. There are no economic indicators to back up SLS's prediction.Naija economy is stagnant and we are talking about growth. The informal sector is dead, banking and financials are on life support, manufacturing is dead, capital flight is massive, foreign reserves are depleted, budget is not implemented, foreign remittances are way too down. Baltic dry indexes on Naija bound vessels are low. Where are the indicators ? |
right now Nigeria has the largest telecomms market in Africa MTN a Nigerian company? How about SA having diamond and gold? Are u saying that SA's economy would be stagnant? |
This has been turned into a movie called SKIN |
This SLS is clueless as his Naija followers. Why is he always making unguarded utterances instead of dealing with micro and macro issues relating to the economy? South African stock exchange is in top 20 world's largest stock exchanges. SA's ESKOM generates about 42,000MW while Nigeria generates less than 4000MW. One company in SA,BHP uses almost the amount of power generated by PHCN. I'm so sick and tired of hearing this man speak. 4 of their largest banks can swallow all our banks. Their banking system is one of the soundest in the world. It was ranked ahead of US and UK systems. This man must really think that Nigerians are morons. The only way we can over take SA in 2yrs is if there is a tsunami like hurricane in SA, unfortunately, SA is above sea level http://www.reuters.com/article/ousiv/idUSTRE4981X220081009 Also scoring well were Chile (6.5, 18th) and Spain, South Africa, Norway, Hong Kong and Finland all ending up in the top 20. Eskom has installed power generation capacity of about 41,500 megawatts. BHP Billiton Ltd. alone can use 2,150 megawatts at aluminum smelters in Richards Bay in South Africa and Maputo in Mozambique, which rely on Eskom. Ferrochrome operators, including Xstrata and Samancor, each require several hundred megawatts of power, while Gold Fields Ltd., the country’s second-biggest gold producer, can use 600 megawatts. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601116&sid=acEfu5.YZSwM http://www.rankopedia.com/ZoneID=3/22239/Best__Stock_Exchange_in_the_World/Step1/8809.htm |

INEC at it again. I thought supreme ruled against INEC vs Atiku. I dont think that it has got the power to disqualify a candidate. Anyway, INEC Chairman was recommended by Mr Andy Uba to OBJ? |

i hope this reason of he should love u regardless of weight or size should be advanced by men when they fall from grace to grass. A guy who used to take out all the time, changes the ways he spends on u. would u take it for love or call him out for being stingy. if you are making a guy do some things he would not have not done were it not for you, U should pitch in by doing your own bit. I think that PC has made us to love being lied to. we love being told that we are healthy even when we know that we are not. |
texas Here's another challenge for you. Using the CBN debtors' list, show us how 'most of these debts are owed by the Government'. The fuel importers have accepted that the Government owes them N46 billion. As i've said before, these importers in turn owe the banks over 400 billion naira. Even one as intellectually challenged as yourself can see the clear difference between N46 billion and N400+ billion. The CBN announced the sack of five bank chief executives on August 14, 2009 over alleged exposure to N1.143 trillion worth of non-performing loans. Of the amount, exposure to the oil and gas sector amounted to N487.02 billion even though most of the debtors are being owed about N114 billion as fuel subsidy arrears under the scheme of Petroleum Support Fund (PSF) by the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA). I dont know where u got N46 billion. I think that naijaking might have some points, SLS is making his cases against these fraudulent damaging directors weaker. SLS should focus on revitalizing these banks instead of running to the media. He's a public official who's not supposed to make unguarded statements. It doesn't matter if takes longer so long as justice is done. You remember Savannah bank vs FDIC. So govt agency can get it all wrong some times. SLS is there to fix the economy period not being Prof Jerry Gana or Yar'dua's spokesman. I still want to know why some debtors are getting relief cos these are people's live savings and pensions we are talking about here. Yar'dua a half step forward, 100 steps backward. |
Heartless?? Whatever!! If U break the law that U have been warned several times about then U deserve any punishment that comes your way.Stop screaming because they are your people. Get real!! ohh, they were smuggling drugs. How many times do they need to be warned?? Stop wallowing in ignorance and foolishness. It makes me wonder if there is a difference between you and Naija govt. Are u a govt mouthpiece? |
What's the most circulated newspaper in Nigeria? What does it take to advertise on most Naija papers. what's cost of 3X4, 1/4/ 1/2 full page advert? |
blame it on her. why dont u find out what's going on with you cos it seems like there is going to be a long list of problems even when this wonderful lady is gone. So another woman is about to inherit the same problem. |
U re not being fair or realistic here,,,Sanusi hasn't got anything to do with this,,,,The people at RMAFC knows who have been withdrawing money from the account,,,, it would be super cluelessness to think that CBN does not know about these withdrawals from foreign reserves. I wonder if it would be possible without CBN. |
why cant LASG focus on sales taxes on cars in Lagos? What if my car was registered in Kano by my sister? so who is going to be assessed? Hope that LASG knows that it's the on exclusive list of FG to impose some taxes like import taxes, car registration fees and the rest. |
I'm not sure I understand your point here. However, you need to understand that Rush is not a journalist in the true sense of the word, he is a News Commentator. He gives his opinion on the finished product by journalists. I'm sure you can tell the difference. And yes, he has used his God-given talent to better himself financially. Have a problem with that? Your super idealogical mind will not let you to understand that journalists, news commentators, radio hosts, tvs and radio are all parts of media whom he constantly bashes for not taking his side. |
the only issue why this needs our input is because the guy in naija does not have any letter of invitation to give to her. the guy in uk i have not seen is a better man because he has to visa to go and see the quenn. kapish |
the same media in which Rush is the greatest beneficiary. The same media that failed to ask serious questions about WMD in Iraq? |
Tayo-D That Rush said Donovan McNabb is overated is grounds for accusing him of racism? See what the Leftists have turned America into. A fan of the game cannot even have an opinion about one of the most visible players. What is so racist about the statement? Rush said that the media was desirous of seeing a black quarter back do well in NFL. I wish that you do not put a positive spin on what Rush said about blacks cos I can do bad or well by myself. |
another point to consider. Since nobody is after Ngige, he can do as he pleases if he becomes a governor. |
since they fall into utility vehicles its most likely that they are treated as big trucks N150-200k depending on agent. |
