veraponpo: It takes two to tango.
Oba Akinolu may not be right on this but the attitude of our Igbo brothers and sisters could frustrate one.
Having helped them more than what their region has done for them, instead of being grateful; their actions seem to be undermining the essence of our existence through their incendiary statements. Calling their hosts cowards- what do you want after that-fight to show we are not cowards.
Oba Akinolu is their match and that is why the situation seems difficult now.
A gentle king could be disobeyed easily but did they say anything at the palace? No. They dare not.
It was after leaving the palace that chest beating, ultimatum , etc started surfacing.
Who then is the cowards? Ta lo fe gbenan woju ekun lai f'eje we ( who wants to put light at the face of a tiger without being bathed with blood)
Remember, 'He who makes peaceful resolution difficult , has made violence inevitable.' Your stupidity has no bounds! So voting for a Yoruba son is provocation? It clearly shows that the hatred for the Igbos! |

Alcatraz001: Oba Rilwan Akiolu should lay the blame squarely at the feet of Bola Ahmed Tinubu who gave Ben Akabueze a Commissioner spot in Lagos.
I am very angry as I am typing this message as I am personally pained by the insults and denigration we yorubas have been made to pass through by the ibos because we have been a very nice and accomodating people. If and when ambode wins then we yorubas have to sit down and restrategise on how we want to protect ourselves from the marauding force that the ibos are.
The truth of the matter is that these ibos will never. Stop until they take over Lagos as their sights are mainly set on dislodging the yorubas from Lagos. The federal goverment has to draw up a plan to develop the East so that the biafrans can stay back home and develop their homeland. The average ibo man is determined and resilient in whatever they set their hearts on and they have seen that they can run over the yorubas because they think we are lazy and weak.
I have been an unrepentant advocate for a Yoruba renaissance in Lagos aimed at preserving the Economic Capital of Odualand from the expansionist and annexationist plans of the ibos on this forum but I was looked at like a bigot but I thank God that Yorubas are now waking up to the dangers we face from our hateful and bile filled guests who will stop at nothing to destroy the Yorubas for what they Perceive as our role in the Biafran/Nigerian War which our late Sage Obafemi Awolowo won for Nigeria at the time. I make bold to say that since the end of that War, the ibos have vowed to Conquer the yorubas since they reckon that the yorubas will be easier preys since we are so liberal and accomodating.
We yorubas should realise that we are fast losing the battle and must not lose the War which is being subtly waged on our turf by our guests. The time to wake up and act is now as we are as Disunited as never before----the OPC has been compromised and weakened by the enemy through bribes and shady Oil pipeline Contracts and it is really painful as we thought the objectives of OPC were apolitical and for the protection of the rights of the yoruba in Nigeria, Otunba Gani Adams disappointed lots of people when he chose to work at variance to Yoruba interest in Nigeria.
In Conclusion, I would urge Bola Tinubu to close ranks with the OPC and other Yoruba militia to protect the fatherland and be more magnanimous in his victory as the generalismo of yoruba politics as he is largely seen by other yoruba elders (Afenifere led by Reuben Fasoranti) as being too powerful in SouthWest Politics. The enemy is penetrating and wrecking havoc already as they are representing Lagos in the Federal House of Reps already, the march to Alausa in the future is on a steady course unless they are stopped in their tracks through massive enlightenment of the yoruba people of the dangers we are in.
ALL yorubas who have a PVC should please go out and vote AKINWUNMI AMBODE in the gubernatorial elections this Saturday as it will check the plans of the 5th Columnists in our midst and throw a spanner in the wheel of their ignoble plans for the Yorubas.

I'm I'm jaso1: Igbo in Lagos are vying over ownership of Lagos with Yoruba, they even got to extent of asking for Igbo deputy as their rightful slot. I've heard an Igbo friend that say Yorubas are fool, that we are sold out in election that produced sai baba. Igbo are visitor in Lagos and Yoruba been accommodative above other tribes, allowed Igbo freedom that got them intusticated. Akinolu have my support for whatever some bunch of fools have in plan. He should not apologies to anybody, and whoever that's not comfortable with Oba's stand should vacate Lagos. Can a Yoruba person become councilor in your region? Have included Yoruba in your state government as we have in Lagos? Part of Igbo greediness is their mad culture that never allow female children to inherit her father property. They will never see anything good about other tribe. They always have that ego of dominant. Lagos has had enough of your mess, on Akiolu statement we stand. Instead of hating on Igbos, you should spend more time on improving your English. It's elementary school standard! |

They voted for GEJ -PDP in 2007 and 2011; then voted Fashola-ACN in 2007 and 2011. All Yoruba sons.. In 2015, Jimi Agbaje is all of sudden an Igbo man because Igbos might vote him?? Omila007: Sir, I will accord you that respect while I also inquire of you the right part to this my observation. The IGBOs have voted for other regions of the country since 1999, even against there own sons but they are still termed tribal in politics? While the north who has unapologetically voted there sons see absorbed of this obvious show.
Igbos have been accused of internal division as there greatest political challenge but today they have spoken with one voice in support of a candidate who got a almost 40% of SW and NC votes but they are now termed foolish.
So in your wealth of experience please, tell me which one is it
Brush up own candidate, our son an give him our vote. Vote for a candidate of our choosing irrespective of ethnic/religious leaning like we just did in GEJ.
Or speak in disunity at the ballot so we can stay relevant in whatever government that emerges like you suggested.
A more disturbing discovering is the nonchalance of the igbo nation at the polls. A trend that should immediately be arrested if we ever wish to remain relevant.
PDP should work on strengthening there hold on SE/SS, settle there issues in the North central and strengthen their grip. With SE/SS/NC as a strong hold I believe it will make for a balance in the in coming administration. Igbos voted OBJ/Atiku 1999 and 2003, no Igbo person on the ticket. They voted Yar'dua/GEJ in 2007 and GE/Sambo without any Igbo person on the ballot. They didn't vote GMB/Okadigbo in 2003. They rejected GMB/Umeh in 2007 and nobody called them traitors for voting twice against their sons. I think Igbos have demonstrated that they are independent minded; capable of putting national interest above their collective interest.. Hausas have never voted for a presidential ticket without one of their one their own on the ballot as a flag bearer or VP. |

So save me your tribalism and pray Tinubu care more for one Akabueze instead of Mr Segun while you too do your best to advice Mr peter Obi or Rochas to care more for Mr kunle or Mr Adamu than their own man. You don't get it and never will. Majority of Igbos voted for MKO in 1993 and didn't vote for their son, Alex Ugo, who was Tofa's running mate. Most Igbos voted for OBJ when most Yorubas didn't even though Ojukwu was running. Most Igbos voted for Yar'dua. How come they voted GEJ in 2011 and stayed home in 2015? mensdept: Its more than just going out to vote, even though I know many Igbo and even Bini friends that proudly boasted that they didn't have time to go and get "killed" because of election.
Igbo leaders and people are and have continue to be daft when it comes to national politics in Nigeria. Look at how they handled the senate president position- horrible, with about 6 or so senate presidents emerging in 6 years. Look at the Ministries they have held, including aviation- from kea Chikwe down the ladder, yet no airport in the entire East is considered world class. See the talk on state creation- over 20 proposals and bickering do to greedy men scheming to make money, even though it was obvious to create Anioma state.
In todays PDP they have no relevant position, in APC no relevant position, and in APGA, the greedy and foolish Umeh who overstayed has pretty much destroyed the party.
So currently, National politicks is a matter of Hausa-Fulani vs Yoruba, because those folks know the importance of being a majority in a minority party than minority in majority party. You have no idea how senate chamber is structured. Out of 109 senators , SE has only 15 senators representing 13.7 % while u need 2/3 majority to change leadership -72 senators representing 66%. You must build consensus in order to get something done. Big airports are appropriated in the budget and must have overwhelming economic relevance. U can't build the biggest airport in SE when MMA handles over 60% of passengers. NASS will not pass it! |
