Music/RadioRe: People Consider Enya's Songs As 'demonic' - Why? by addicted268(f): 1:02am On Jun 08, 2013
jaymichael: I love Enya. people assume or presume her songs to be demonic because of the language. she sings in her native old Celtic language and Latin and a bit of English. you know Latin is the language of magic and people associate the old Celtic language with pagan rites and rituals. she terms her music to be of the genre NEW AGE (music for the purpose of inducing relaxation) but she has won more awards as a musician of WORLD MUSIC (music influenced by local cultures) many people I know that presume her music to be kind of demonic are people that enjoyed ROBIN HOOD in their school days but they don't find the programme or the sound track demonic. I do tell them do you know that Enya did that ROBIN HOOD sound track? some of my favourites include STORMS IN AFRICA, AMARANTINE, LONG LONG JOURNEY. EBUDAE, MAY IT BE, FAR AND AWAY.... I can't begin to mention all. I just love Enya.
Very true, plus she has a unique voice.I love enya especially "wild child" and "flora's secret".

PoliticsRe: Buhari Faults Clampdown On Boko-Haram Members by addicted268(f): 9:01am On Jun 03, 2013
sageon: There is very little in the excerpts of this interview that detracts from the position long held and expressed in the body language, posturing and tacit approval, that these insurgents have enjoyed from characters like this with hegemonic interests. It also shouldn’t come as surprise for some of us who are appalled at the revisionism and character rehabilitation of these personages, which is currently underway, and the attempts to sell a deodorized past to a gullible people.

Pray tell, how does militancy-morphed from environmental rights activism, after untold years of neglect and environmental degradation, compare to insurgency that is hinged on obtuse grudges, with affiliations in fanaticism and grisly carnage to boot.

More worrying, besides these objections, is the security and divisive implications, these unguarded utterances pose for a people who would do with less hate, ethnic bigotry and religious intolerance- which are sure to be interpreted from them.

They should also point out to those who seek rapture from the challenges that beset the country- with blind kowtowing and romanticism with messianic propaganda-that, the burden of development rests heavily on an informed and committed followership, who must seek and rout elements that seek their destruction while waving the flag of deceit.

Christianity EtcRe: Are There Things You Cannot Forgive? by addicted268(f): 9:06pm On Jun 02, 2013
Shakara123: The best form of torture to someone who hurts you is not by hurting him or her back, but by forgiving, forgetting, and ignoring such a person. Sometimes when we go the 'do me I do you' way, we only end up regretting and causing more harm to ourselves or\and loved ones.
Let it go. Very hard to do, but just do and let God do the rest.
I have knowledge of someone who lost his life due to this single act of "I must do him back". My dear, it is not worth the tears and pains. It is not worth the revenge. Please let go.
I like this.hard as it is,forgiveness is the way to go.unforgiveness limits you, makes you a bitter person.even if you revenge, you won't feel great.time heals all wounds.time will heal you...our lord's prayer "...Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us".if you are a christian, you know the bible's stand on forgiveness.

soulfood: If the examples you have mentioned above actually happen in civilized countries, they would have sued(apart from the job thing which i am guessing is an attempt at sarcasm by you). This is yet another reason for us to get out of the Jungle as a country.

Baba Suwe is a public figure. A role model to many and a successful actor. Imagine LAPD narcotics dept arresting Sean Connery or Morgan freeman and parading him as a drug trafficker, subjecting him to physical and emotional abuse, only to be unable to prove he had drugs on him. The actor(s) will sue the living daylight out of LAPD. That is how it works my guy.

The instances of people you gave above do not bother suing in Nigeria because they are afraid it will be swept under the carpet like they are about to do with Baba Suwe.
thank you for this.you have said it all.I don't know whether to hold the long military rule we experienced accountable for our lack of knowledge of our fundamental human rights.I think baba suwe was within his rights to sue the NDLEA.they encroached on his rights, detained him unlawfully, not to mention the physical and emotional embarrassment, tarnished his reputation which he had suffered to build over the years, etc etc.True, the NDLEA CLAIMED their scanner saw something in his system but fact is that nothing was discovered there.if they had apologized to him and he decided to forget d case, that would have been ok.since he decided to sue,he is still within his rights.

Delafruita: why does everyone that criticises the PDP have to be from APC?cant there be political commentators who can comment without bias on happenings in the polity?in case you dont know, president jonathan isnt a property of the PDP,he is a property of nigerian and when he chooses to misuse the mandate given to him by nigerians,it then behoves on the same nigerians to call him to order.i am not an admirer of governor amaechi and i do no have firsthand information on his antecedents in office.the reality is his actions do not concern me because he i the governor of rivers state,a state i have nver been to and have no business or personal concerns in.president jonathan on the other hand is the president of this country.his actions must be scrutinised by me in a bid to ensure its in the best interest of me and my future generation.
wow,I love this.if that all nigerians would think like this(well, many nigerians).we always have a motive,an agenda so we try to defend EVERY actions of our parties even in the face of glaring evidence and hard facts of wrongdoings.thank you for calling a spade what it is.for d record,I'm not in support of any party.I'm an advocate of good governance.daz all.

CrimeRe: Student Jailed For Stealing BlackBerry In Ogun State by addicted268(f): 6:05am On May 29, 2013
coogar: he's a student - he shouldn't have gotten a custodial sentence. what's the essence of locking him up n making him lose his studentship?
I get you but I don't think community service is popular in our judicial system.I still think its fair, compared to 2years or 25.I don't think he ll lose his studentship.if he does 3months,he ll lose a semester.that means extra year if he's in 400level,but if he's in year one or two,he ll have to share d courses and can still leave school with his mates......on another note,d fact that our politicians are looting us blind and getting away with it(painful as it is) is no justification to totally turn a blind eye on d ones stealing petty things.he was a student,he may have been hungry.I'm sure that at some point in time,we all have been students and have been broke and hungry.I didn't steal,a lot of us here didn't steal too.stealing is wrong, please let's not condone it.he shouldn't be painted as d victim.the victim was d person he stole from.I'm happy he wasn't lynched.
CrimeRe: Student Jailed For Stealing BlackBerry In Ogun State by addicted268(f): 8:05pm On May 28, 2013
coogar: 2 years imprisonment for stealing ordinary blackberry - who are these idiotic judges? he's just a hungry petty thief. how about giving him community service like sweeping the secretariat for 1000 hours without payment? i have lost faith in our judiciary - it's being managed by silverback apes!
I think that this is a very fair judgement because the last paragraph says that he has an option of spending 3months in prison and pay 10,000.that's a far better deal than 2years.so,yeah its fair.

No,because her victim didn't know that it was a toy gun....her intention is being judged, not the weapon.
