DEDICATION – BEING DEFENSIVE OF GOD AND HIS CAUSE

Man’s greatest potential comes out of his unity with and commitment to God; the best of man comes out in the Presence of God. 

SCRIPTURE: Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy. Numbers 25:11

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you are dedicated to God, you exist to serve the interest of God in your generation.

It has been confirmed that man’s greatest potential comes out of his unity with and commitment to God (Acts 4:13). In other words, the best of man comes out in the Presence of God. And because the best of man comes out in the presence, we are duty-bound to be dedicated to God. 

Now, having seen the necessity of dedication, the question is, what does it imply to be dedicated to God? 

We have seen various implications of dedication to God in our previous studies. Today, we shall be looking at another implication of dedication to God: Dedication to God implies living or existing to defend the cause of God in your generation. 

As a husband, you are dedicated to defending your wife and children whenever anybody confronts them. Also, as a wife, you are committed to your husband in defending him. In the same manner, dedication to God implies defending the cause of God in your generation. When you are dedicated to God, you exist to serve the interest of God in your generation. You are jealous for God. You are protective of God’s Name, God’s plans and God’s purposes and agenda in your generation. It is not in your presence that God and His agenda on earth will be ridiculed and resisted. People can do or say anything they want to say about God but not where you are. 

Phinehas in our anchor scripture above portrayed a good example of jealousy for God. He was jealous for God and defended His (God’s) cause in his time. The children of Israel committed immorality and twenty-four thousand people died. Then an Israelite took a Midianitish woman to the tent and was committing immorality with her. And Phinehas rose from the camp, took a Javelin and thrust both the Israelite and the woman through their bellies. So, the plague was stayed from the children of Israel (Numbers 25:7-. And because Phinehas was jealous for God, moved swiftly and defended God, God gave him and his generations the covenant of peace and priesthood (Numbers 25:12-13).  

Beloved, this is what God can do for anyone who is jealous for Him. Make up your mind to move and act on behalf of God when others are indifferent and lukewarm to Him and His cause on the earth. 

Remember this: When you are dedicated to God, you exist to serve the interest of God in your generation.

Uprightness - Eliminating The Gravitational Pull Of Iniquity

Uprightness of character eliminates the gravitational pull of iniquity.

SCRIPTURE: For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. Romans 3:23 (NLT)

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Iniquity has the capacity to pull down. It is a weight that grounds a person.

In our previous studies, we discovered that uprightness of character is a lifter of people. Uprightness makes people dwell in the sphere where God dwells, that is, the high places of the earth (Psalm 15:1-2). It is uprightness of life that lifted Abraham, Joseph and Daniel, and positioned them in the realm of relevance in their generation. 

Today, we shall look at another profit of uprightness:

Uprightness of character eliminates the gravitational pull of iniquity.

Iniquity carries a gravitational pull; iniquity is a spiritual gravitational force. Iniquity is a weight. This is why the Scripture admonishes us in Hebrews 12:1 that we should lay aside every weight. Weight is a function of gravity. Iniquity has the capacity to pull people down. It is a weight that grounds a person. Weight is like a heavy stone that can crush a person. When a heavy stone is thrown up, do you expect it to remain up? No. It must land. In the same way, iniquity is a weight that pulls a person down.

Romans 3:23 says, For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The New Living Translation renders it thus: For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. So, sin makes people fall. This is why it is usually said that when people sin, they fall into; to sin is to fall.

Now, what made Vashti, the queen of the Persian Empire, to fall was sin. She was right up as the first lady of an empire that covered one hundred and twenty provinces, stretching from Ethiopia to India, but she fell by the twin sin of rebellion and arrogance. Her husband, the King, asked her to come and show up her beauty to some royal guests at the King’s banquet, but she refused (Esther 1:10-12). That was how Queen Vashti crashed by the gravitational pull of iniquity. 

Iniquity was also responsible for the crash of Lucifer. Isaiah 14:12 says, How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!  

Samson also fell from grace to grass by the gravitational pull of iniquity (Judges 16:20-21). But when you walk in uprightness, that gravitational pull is eliminated. 

Beloved, refuse to be pulled down in life by sin. Avoid the lifestyle of iniquity that pulls people down in life.

Remember this: Iniquity has the capacity to pull down. It is a weight that grounds a person.

PUBLIC IDENTIFICATION WITH GOD – A PROOF OF DEDICATION

Beloved, if your family members, your classmates or your office colleagues don’t know that you are a Christian, then you are not yet a Christian. If people around you don’t know who you are, then you are not who you say you are. 

SCRIPTURE: Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God. Daniel 6:5

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Dedication is existence as a visible representative of the invisible God to your generation.

Dedication, as we have seen from our previous study, implies a deadly commitment to God. It is a commitment of no return. 

Today, we shall see yet another implication of dedication to God.  Dedication to God implies living as a representative of God and His Kingdom to your generation. Dedication is existence as a visible representative of the invisible God to your generation. It is an unashamed public identification with God and His cause in the earth.   

You know, there are people who are ashamed of being known or identified as children of God. They hide their Bibles to go to work and would not talk to anyone about God. But a dedicated person is unashamed to publicly identify with God. In 1 Kings Chapter Seventeen and Verse One, Elijah stood publicly with God. Daniel also stood publicly with God. The people around him knew that they could not find any fault with him except in his devotion to, and unashamed identification with God (Daniel 6:4-10). This is dedication to God.

Beloved, if your family members, your classmates or your office colleagues don’t know that you are a Christian, then you are not yet a Christian. If people around you don’t know who you are, then you are not who you say you are. I remember when I was in 200 level in the university, we were in an Anatomy class one day and one of my classmates, a lady, was trying to say something, but she suddenly realized I was around; then she said, “Oh Sorry! I didn’t know you were here”. And she went away. She was speaking freely at first and later perceived that I was around. She knew that no one could talk carelessly around me. 

Beloved, if the people around you don’t know who you are, then you are not who you say you are. My counsel is, make up your mind to stand with God unashamedly and publicly.

Remember this: Dedication is existence as a visible representative of the invisible God to your generation.

The Lifting Power Of Uprightness

What God celebrates, we must also celebrate. The principle of association means the thing that is celebrated the most by God in heaven must be celebrated the most by men on earth. 

SCRIPTURE: Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. Psalm 15:1-2.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: To be upright is to be right up. 

It has been established that upright character is a lifter of life. Holiness is a lifter of destiny. 

The most celebrated attribute of God is His Holiness. That is, the greatest attribute of God is His character of Holiness. Human beings may boast about money and other material resources but the thing that Jehovah celebrates most is His character of Holiness. 

Now, you can see supportive evidence of the Holiness of God from Isaiah 6:1-3: In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

Please note that the angels did not cry, “Power! Power! Power! is the Lord of hosts” or “Wisdom! Wisdom! Wisdom! is the Lord of hosts” but “Holy! Holy! Holy! is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of His glory”. Of all the things that God has that the angels could cry about, the Holiness of His Character was the most relevant. 

This is also corroborated in Revelation 4:8. And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

This means, what God celebrates, we must also celebrate. The principle of association means the thing that is celebrated the most by God in heaven must be celebrated the most by men on earth. 

Now, the question is, how does uprightness lift a person? 

1. Uprightness catapults men into the sphere with God. 

Uprightness catapults people into the operational spheres of God. And God is not on the ground; God is the high and lifted One. So, if uprightness catapults you to a realm where God is, it means that uprightness catapults you to heavenly places (Psalm 24:3-4, Isaiah 33:15-16). It is not possible to be grounded with uprightness. To be upright is to be right up. 

Beloved, make up your mind to be upright in all your ways in order to end right up.

Remember this: To be upright is to be right up.

Deadly Commitment To God

When a person is deadly committed to God, backsliding is not an option; the possibility of leaving God for other things does not exist. Your face is set on God like a flint and there is no going back. 

SCRIPTURE: Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. Job 13:15.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When a person is deadly committed to God, backsliding is not an option; the possibility of leaving God for other things does not exist.

Dedication to God is a primary duty of man. A major reason for dedication to God is that man’s creation was not his design; so, man’s existence must not follow man’s own design (Isaiah 43:21). This means, we did not decide to be born, so we can’t decide how to live. You did not decide to be created, so you can’t decide how to function. This is why we must be dedicated to God. 

Having known why we should be dedicated to God, it is important to know more of what dedication implies.

Now, what is dedication? Dedication to God implies deadly commitment to Him. Deadly commitment to God is a commitment unto death. It is a commitment of no return. Job said, Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. (Job 13:15). Job seemed to say, “Even if God killed me, I would still follow Him.”

Ruth, a Moabite woman, told Noami, her mother-in-law,  “…Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me” (Ruth 1:16-17). This is how someone can be with God in deadly commitment to Him. 

When a person is deadly committed to God, backsliding is not an option; the possibility of leaving God for other things does not exist. Your face is set on God like a flint and there is no going back. Going back from following God is not a temptation. If you are deadly committed to God, you won’t follow anyone to join an occult group in order to become rich. 

Beloved, when you are deadly committed to God, you don’t need people’s encouragement to follow God. Rather, you make following God the sole aim of your existence. May God give you the grace to be deadly committed to Him in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: When a person is deadly committed to God, backsliding is not an option; the possibility of leaving God for other things does not exist.

The Proof Of A Focused Heart

A focused heart is a united heart. It is a heart that is fixed and focused on God. Your dedication is not complete until your heart is united with and focused on God. 

SCRIPTURE: Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. Psalm 86:11

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: A focused heart is a united heart. It is a heart that is fixed and focused on God. 

Earlier on, we saw the manifestation of a divided heart. We saw that a divided heart prefers other activities above time with God. A person whose heart is divided cannot serve God effectively.

On the other hand, a focused heart is a united heart. It is a heart that is fixed and focused on God. Your dedication is not complete until your heart is united with and focused on God. 

Sometime ago, a man asked me to follow him to view a property, a seven-bedroom duplex with a basement. When I asked him why I should follow him to look at the house, he told me to see it first, and afterwards, he would tell me what was on his mind. I thought probably he was intending to gift the house. But the problem was that he wanted me to see the house during the Healing and Deliverance Service time. I asked him if I could go with him after the service but he said “No.” Then I told him that I would not follow him to see the house and that I needed to attend to the service. I refused to follow him because I had an appointment with God at that time. 

In addition to my value for God, there were many terribly sick and afflicted people who desperately needed Divine healing and deliverance and it wouldn’t be proper to leave them unattended to. At that time, we had been in ministry for more than thirteen years without a house owned by us. We were still living in a rented house. So, the temptation was strong but I couldn’t abandon God and the people who were in need, just because I needed to go and look for where to lay my head. I didn’t follow that man. He went and never came back. Maybe he got angry because he probably thought I should have chosen him ahead of God and the urgent need to attend to the sick and afflicted in church. When God saw it, He must have said, “You won’t lack house forever. ‘I got a house’ will be too small to be your testimony.” And God’s Word came to pass. Since that time, I have been given properties that I have not had time to look at. I was given one in the USA some time ago, but I have not even had the time to see it. 

Beloved, you cannot put God first and come last in life. Make up your mind to pursue God whole-heartedly.

Remember this: A focused heart is a united heart. It is a heart that is fixed and focused on God and Him alone.

The Manifestation Of A Divided Heart

You are not a dedicated child of God if you cannot sacrifice even what you love for the sake of your relationship with God. 

SCRIPTURE: And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. 1 Kings 18:21

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You are not a dedicated child of God if you cannot choose God above anything or anyone else.

Yesterday, we saw that one way to be dedicated to God is pursuing Him wholeheartedly. Dedication to God implies pursuing God with a united heart and not a divided heart. It is having only one purpose and focus in following God.

However, there are many people whose hearts are divided in their attempt to pursue God. There are people whose hearts are divided in what they want out of life. 

Let me give you some examples: I heard that in some places, if there is a football match, for example, the Super Eagles of Nigeria playing a match against the national football team of Argentina or a club like Arsenal playing against Chelsea and the time of the match clashes with church service time, some people would go to watch the match instead of going to church. I also heard that in some places, television would even be brought to the church so that the people can watch the match if the match time is clashing with church service time. This is an error! This is a manifestation of a divided heart.

For other people, it is a particular movie they cannot sacrifice for church service. They must have watched up to twelve parts or episodes of the movie and the time to watch the thirteenth episode is clashing with church service time; they would sacrifice church service for the movie. That is not correct! It is an indication of a divided heart.

Beloved, do not do yourself such injustice. You are not a dedicated child of God if you cannot choose God above anything or anyone else. You are not a dedicated child of God if you cannot sacrifice even what you love for the sake of your relationship with God. If you have done anything before this time at the expense of your relationship with God, repent today. Make up your mind not to do that again, and choose God above everything and everyone else in life.

Remember this: You are not a dedicated child of God if you cannot choose God above anything or anyone else.

Dedication to God is not having a heart that follows the world in one part and follows God in another. It is not having a heart whose part follows the devil and another part follows God. 

SCRIPTURE: Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. Psalm 86:11

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you are dedicated to God, your heart is not divided but united in the pursuit of God.

It has been established that understanding is key to outstanding performance in any endeavour. When you understand why you should do something, doing it becomes easy. 

In the same manner, knowing the purpose of dedication will greatly enhance the lifestyle of dedication to God. One of the reasons for dedication is that man was created by God and for God (Revelation 4:11). If we know that we did not create ourselves and that we are not meant to live for ourselves, then dedication becomes easy.

Now, having seen the reason for our dedication to God, what, then does it mean to be dedicated to God? 

Dedication to God implies a whole-hearted pursuit of God. It is a heart that is united in the pursuit of God. One may ask, “Why a united heart?” It is because one’s heart can be divided. This is why Psalm 86:11 says, Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.

So, when you are dedicated to God, your heart is not divided but united in the pursuit of God. Dedication to God is not having a heart that follows the world in one part and follows God in another. It is not having a heart whose part follows the devil and another part follows God. It is not having a heart with a cocktail of worldly and heavenly inclinations. Rather, dedication is having a united heart, a heart united in the pursuit of God. It is allowing every department of your heart to be united in the pursuit of God.  It is not a heart that is divided or distracted by several activities, fantasies and fallacies of this world. It is having a heart that beats and pants after the Presence of God like the heart of David who said, As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?”(Psalm 42:1-2).

Beloved, refuse for your heart to be divided in the pursuit of God. Pursue God with focus and unity of heart. This is what it means to be dedicated to God. And that is what brings distractions in time and eternity. 

Remember this: When you are dedicated to God, your heart is not divided but united in the pursuit of God.

A Lifting Up Through Uprightness

The uprightness of character is both a lifter of people and a sustainer of the lifted. You are lifted by character and your lifting is also sustained by character. This is why one of the greatest help God can give to you is to assist you to maintain upright character. 

SCRIPTURE: Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Uprightness of character is both a lifter of people and a sustainer of the lifted.

It has been confirmed that uprightness is a lifter of life; righteousness is an exalter of destiny. 

One of the greatest help God can give anybody in life and in ministry is the help to maintain uprightness of character. The highest thing God can do for you is not necessarily to give you power or money; it is the grace to maintain uprightness of character. This is because any possession or qualification without character is a setup for disaster. 

Please understand that to be made visible without character is visibility unto ignominy. It is a kind of visibility that ends with reproach. This is why one of the best help God can give a person is the help to maintain uprightness of life and character. If you have character and you don’t have money, anointing, or possessions, there is nothing to worry about because with time, you will have all of them. However, the tragedy is to have all the other things and lack character because it is a setup for disaster.

So, uprightness of character is both a lifter of people and a sustainer of the lifted. Uprightness of character lifts and then sustains the lifted. It does not matter where people rise to in life, if their character is intact, don’t be afraid for them because they can never crash. On the other hand, it does not matter the level people rise to in life, if their character is defective, their crash is inevitable. And the overall outcome is eternal damnation. 

So, the uprightness of character is both a lifter of people and a sustainer of the lifted. You are lifted by character and your lifting is also sustained by character. This is why one of the greatest help God can give to you is to assist you to maintain upright character. 

Beloved, receive the grace from God to maintain upright character in Jesus’ Name.

The Implication Of Taking Sides With God

Taking sides with God implies being ready to stand alone with God even if the whole world is standing on the other side against you and God. 

SCRIPTURE: Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the Lord's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselvess together unto him. Exodus 32:26

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you take sides with God, you are ready to walk alone if that is what it means to walk with God.

Previously, we saw how the Levites were distinguished from the rest of the tribes of Israel when they decided to take sides with God. Levi, their forefather, was cursed by his father, Jacob, (Gen. 49:5-6); but the curse was reversed when his descendants (the Levites) took sides with God.

Now, the question is, what is the implication of taking sides with God? It implies being ready to stand alone with God even if the whole world is standing on the other side against you and God. That means, if for instance, your family members, your classmates, your business associates, and your community members decide to be on one side against you and your God, you are ready to stand with God. If everybody abandons you because of your walk with God, you are happy to walk alone with God. And you can never be pitiable in life if you take a stand with God. 

God changed the Levites, gave them the priesthood, bestowed honour and dignity on them for taking sides with Him. 

Let me give you one example of taking sides with God in our contemporary world: the Living Faith Church was formerly at Raji Oba street, Alimosho in Lagos and the place of worship was over-flooded with people. Then God showed His servant, Bishop Oyedepo a new place in Ogun state which was then a forest. When he told the people about that new place, they asked, “Are you sure of this new place? Will people follow you there?” This was because at that time, there was no road to that place. But he said, “Well, God told me that is the place. It is better for me to sink with God than to shine without Him”. So, he made up his mind and went there with God even if it meant sinking but he never sank. Today, out of that place that was formerly a forest, many things have sprung up. Covenant University, which is the number one university in Nigeria, the fourth in Africa and one out of the five hundred leading universities in the world, is standing there in Canaan Land today. This is what taking sides with God can do.

Beloved, my counsel is, make up your mind to take sides with God even if it means walking alone on earth.

Remember this: When you take sides with God, you are ready to walk alone if that is what it means to walk with God.

Taking Sides With God In Dedication

Dedication to God is a non-negotiable demand, a non-transferrable obligation, and a non-delegable obligation of man to God. As human beings, we are duty-bound to be dedicated to God.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Dedication to God implies taking sides with God where everyone else is on the other side.

Dedication to God is a non-negotiable duty of man. Dedication to God is a non-negotiable demand, a non-transferrable obligation, and a non-delegable obligation of man to God. As human beings, we are duty-bound to be dedicated to God. Therefore, it is very important to know what dedication implies.

To be dedicated to God is to take sides with Him. 

Dedication to God implies taking sides with God where everyone else is on the other side. It implies standing on the same side with God. When Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the children of Israel made and worshipped the Golden Calf. When Moses saw it, he became angry and broke the tablet of the Ten Commandments. Exodus 32:26 says, Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the Lord's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him. 

The Levites came out to be on the Lord’s side. The Levites seemed to have told Moses, “What the rest of the children of Israel did by worshipping the golden image, we are not part of it. We separate ourselves from them to stand with God.” This was the beginning of the Levitical distinction. 

It is important to know that before this time, the Levites were nothing to reckon with. When Jacob was blessing his children, he didn’t give a blessing to Levi. Judah was blessed and became the tribe of kings. But for Levi and Simeon, Jacob said, instruments of cruelty were in their habitation because they slew the sons of Hamor and Shechem his son who defiled Dinah their sister (Gen. 49:5, Gen. 34:25-26). Jacob did not bless Levi but the Levites made one decision to stand on the side of God and that decision stood them out in life. Their destiny changed. The curse placed on Levi, their forefather, was reversed. Their future was rearranged because they made one decision to stand with God. They became the priesthood tribe in Israel. 

Beloved, I don’t know what has been following you for many years, if you can make the decision to stand with God, your history will be rewritten and your destiny will be reshaped.

Unconditional Commitment To God

Dedication to God implies unconditional commitment to Him. It is a commitment to God without a condition. It is coming to a point where one says, “God is not my God because He gave me a car, a job, a husband or a wife. Rather, He is my God because He owns me and created me to worship Him.”

SCRIPTURE: Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.” Job 13:15.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Dedication to God implies unconditional commitment to Him.

In life, possibilities usually attract responsibilities. There is no possibility in life without accompanying responsibility; there is no success without secrets. This means, there are things to do to see the possibilities of God in your life. And one of such things is DEDICATION TO GOD.

Now, the question is, what is dedication to God? It is unconditional commitment to God. Dedication to God implies unconditional commitment to Him. It is a commitment to God without a condition. It is coming to a point where one says, “God is not my God because He gave me a car, a job, a husband or a wife. Rather, He is my God because He owns me and created me to worship Him.” This is what Job had in mind when he said, “Though he slays me, yet will I trust in him: I will maintain mine own ways before him.” (Job 13:15). Job seemed to say, “Even in this condition of sickness that I have found myself now, if God does not heal me, I will not change my commitment and disposition towards Him.” 

Unconditional commitment to God was also the secret of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. When king Nebuchadnezzar told them to bow before his image or else they would be thrown into the burning fiery furnace, they told him that God would deliver them and even if God did not deliver them from the fiery furnace, they would not bow before his (Nebuchadnezzar’s) image (Daniel 3:16-18). This is unconditional commitment. Beloved, when you have reached this level of commitment with God, then the devil does not know what to do with you. 

But if you give God condition or a deadline for serving Him like saying, “God, if you don’t bless me this year, if you don’t give me a husband, a wife, and a car, I will find one for myself”, then you are not truly dedicated to God.

Beloved, if you depend on what God does or does not do for you as a condition for serving Him; then you haven’t started your journey with God yet. My counsel is, make up your mind to be committed to God unconditionally.

His Glory Untouched, Miracles Unleashed!

It is easy for God to work when He is the only One on the scene; God works when man is out of the way.

SCRIPTURE: I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. Isaiah 42:8.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: It is easy for God to work when He is the only One on the scene; God works when man is out of the way.

A major key to experiencing the power of God in life and destiny is allowing Him to take His glory. When God is guaranteed of taking the glory for all His works, He will work more effortlessly. 

For instance, while Elisha was alive, he struggled to raise a dead child of the woman of Shunem. At first, he sent his rod through Gahazi. Gehazi tried but couldn't raise the dead child until Elisha stretched himself out on the dead child and the child came back to life (2 Kings 4:18-37). It took so much effort for Elisha to raise the child. 

But something interesting happened after Elisha had died and was buried. There was a dead man who was raised back to life after his body was brought in contact with the bones of Elisha (2 Kings 13:20-21). In that case, Elisha didn't have to send anyone. He didn't even pray for the dead man himself because he (Elisha) too had died. As people were trying to bury the dead man, the remains of this man touched Elisha’s dead bones, and the dead man came back to life. 

Now, the question is, why did Elisha in his lifetime struggle to raise a dead child but after he had died, the remains of a dead man only touched his dry bones and the man came back to life? As I meditated on this, the Lord said, “After Elisha had died, there was no one to struggle for my glory.” The flesh that normally struggled with God for His glory was no more. Remember that the dead man’s remains touched Elisha’s bones and not his flesh. The personality that would have struggled with God for His glory had gone. The person who would have been bragging about the miracle was no more alive. It is easy for God to work when He is the only One on the scene. God works when man is out of the way. There is no enemy of the move of God like the flesh of man. 

Beloved, determine to let your flesh die so God can take His glory. Get out of the way and let God get on the scene. Don’t touch God’s glory and don’t allow anyone touch it where you are. This is because when the glory of God is untouched by man, the power of God is unleashed in miracles, signs and wonders. 

Remember this: It is easy for God to work when He is the only one on the scene; God works when man is out of the way.

More Keys To Experiencing A New Beginning With God


Anywhere the Spirit of God is at home, new things happen on a continuous basis. 

SCRIPTURE: In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Genesis 1:1-2.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The atmosphere of the move of the Spirit of God is the atmosphere of new beginnings.

In our previous study, we saw a key to experiencing a new beginning with God. It is coming to the end of oneself. To experience a new beginning with God, you must come to the end of yourself because God only begins where man ends. God is not at work where man's energy is doing what God is meant to do.  The end with man is the beginning with God. 

Today, we shall be looking at more keys to experiencing a new beginning with God:

1. Create the atmosphere of the move of the Spirit.

The atmosphere of the move of the Spirit of God is the atmosphere of new beginnings (Genesis 1:1-2). Anywhere the Spirit of God is at home, new things happen on a continuous basis. In the beginning of creation, the Spirit of God moved on the waters. It was when Ezekiel was carried in the Spirit of the Lord that dry bones came alive (Ezekiel 37:1). To experience a new beginning, you must ensure that the Holy Spirit is free to move in your life.

2. Watch out for Divine instructions.

New things happen when God speaks. At creation, God spoke (Gen. 1:3). Before God does anything, He speaks His Word. That was why before Peter could catch the multitude of fishes, Jesus told him to launch his net (Luke 5:4). Before the water was turned into wine, Jesus told the servants to fill the water pots with water (John 2:7). The Word of God precedes the Works of God. The revelations of God precede the manifestations of God. If you have not run out of His voice, you cannot run out of His works. 

My counsel is, allow the Spirit of God to move in your life. Look out for what God is saying and do it. 

Remember this: The atmosphere of the move of the Spirit of God is the atmosphere of new beginning.

Surrender - A major Secret Of Moses' Generational Impact

When you surrender your certificate, your expertise, your knowledge, your wisdom, and talent to God, He will turn them into generational tools of impact in your hand. 

SCRIPTURE: And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. Exodus 4:2-3.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you come to the end of yourself, you are at the beginning with God.

Previously, we saw that coming to the end of oneself is key to experiencing a new beginning with God. For instance, it was when Adam came to the end of himself by agreeing to sleep that God made Eve for him (Gen. 3:21-22).

Now, it is important to understand that apart from Adam, examples abound in Scriptures of people who came to the end of themselves, and experienced new beginnings with God. Moses was one of such people. He came to the end of himself and saw God mightily at work in his life. But forty years before this time, Moses had tried to do the work of God in the energy of the flesh by killing an Egyptian who fought against his fellow Israelite. He then ran away from Pharaoh who wanted to kill him for killing the Egyptian (Exodus 2:11-15). Moses was on the run from his life’s assignment for forty years. When he returned to God through the Burning Bush Encounter (Exodus 3:1-3), God told him, “Before I can do anything with you, you must pull your shoes” (Exo. 3:5 paraphrased). The pulling of the shoe was a sign of surrender. To pull your shoes means to surrender your motion, direction and steps to God. 

Another way Moses surrendered himself to God was the dropping of his rod on the ground (Exodus 4:2-3). God asked him to drop the rod he used in tending the flock for forty years and he did. That rod signified his business tool or power. God seemed to tell Moses, “For forty years, this rod has been in your hand but it has produced nothing. Surrender it to me and see what it will produce.” And he dropped it. But when he picked it up again, it was no longer an ordinary rod; it has become a tool of vengeance, a judgemental instrument that parted the Red Sea, buried Pharaoh and sank his entire army. 

Imagine that! For forty years, the same rod was useless in Moses’ hand but when he handed it over to God, it became impactful. This is a major secret of Moses’ generational impact with God.

Beloved, when you surrender your certificate, your expertise, your knowledge, your wisdom, and talent to God, He will turn them into generational tools of impact in your hand. When you come to the end of yourself, you are at the beginning with God.

Remember this: When you come to the end of yourself, you are at the beginning with God.

The End Of Man, The Beginning Of God

To experience a new beginning with God, you must come to the end of yourself. God only begins where man ends.

SCRIPTURE: And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. Genesis 2:21-22.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God only begins where man ends.

The Scriptures make it clear that we serve the God of new beginnings (Isa. 43:18-19). In Scriptures, examples abound in many situations and in the lives of different people where God proved Himself as the God of new beginnings (Gen. 1:1-3, Judg. 16:22, Ezekiel 37:1-10, Luke 5:1-6, John 2:1-11, Job 42:10-12). He has not changed and He will not change (Mal.3:6). What He did before, He is ready to do again. And in this season, He will give you a new beginning regardless of any agenda of the enemy against your life. 

Now, it is important to note that every scriptural provision attracts scriptural conditions. There are keys to experiencing a new beginning with God. Today, we shall be looking at one key to experiencing a new beginning with God:

One of the keys is coming to the end of yourself.

To experience a new beginning with God, you must come to the end of yourself. God only begins where man ends. God is not at work where man's energy is doing what God is meant to do. The end with man is the beginning with God. 

For instance, before God could make Eve for Adam, He (God) had to put Adam to sleep (Gen. 2:21-22). It was when Adam slept that God worked. It was when Adam came to the end of himself that he experienced a new beginning with God. It was when Adam submitted himself to God that he saw God’s activity. Beloved, if you want His activity, you must submit your own activity. You must come to the end of your connections, education, potentials, etc. before you can experience a new beginning with God. 

Furthermore, it was when the earth was shapeless and empty that the Spirit of God began to move upon the face of the waters (Genesis 1:2). God was not contesting with anybody or anything on the earth, so He could work freely and create the earth. 

In the same manner, you must come to the point where you surrender yourself, your effort, energy, anointing, talents and gifting to God, and then you are at the end of yourself. You must submit anything you can boast of before God. Your boast must only be in the Lord (Psalm 34:2). This is because God can never work in the atmosphere of arrogance, ostentation, and haughtiness. So, drop your shoulders, and come to the end of yourself. This is a key to experiencing a new beginning with God.

Remember this: God only begins where man ends.

Sometimes i just think love and marriage are just scam. The pressure of getting married is enough to make a man or woman miss the real reason of marriage.
