Hello all, back like a JJC. It’s been over 5 years. I remember asking so many questions here and answering so many as well. Learnt all the steps I needed to get PR here. Now a citizen. God has been faithful. Canada has been awesome. Wishing everyone on this journey God’s speed.

Please o, I get small “quesion”. If someone just completed his undergraduate studies about 2 months ago. Thesis submitted and name on graduating list but no certificate issued yet. Can he go ahead to start WES? Would a “to whom it may concern letter” from his school suffice in lieu of a certificate?
He has been working part-time since 200L would this count towards work experience?
Thank you

Hello, is it true that medical exams are now mandatory for everyone trying to get US B2 visas? Any idea of cost and how soon before the interview one can get it done?

PS: February 2024 visa dates available at the moment, checked few minutes ago.

Pls what can one use as proof of ties to country apart from job, land, business and property? When someone with a great job earning like 700k a month gets a refusal with employment prospects, what could be the problem? Can TRV be applied for underage children under 16 without an accompanying adult application?
Prior refusals, purpose of visit not strong or well laid out enough, being single,no/limited travel history, prior history of overstaying etc, could even be that the particular agent was in a bad mood while going through the case who knows?. No idea about visas for minors

@everyone @adiahabasi @smileymum

Please I will appreciate if you can respond as we are in similar situation.

We just got our COPR and will land early January.

I want my mum to accompany us to help settle as I have kids and expecting another.

Even if she cant land with us, I want her around for Omugwo in March.

Please what documents should we subbmit.

Should we go the paper or online route.

Please help a sister.

Thank you.

She has no travel history and does not work.

Please what document should we submit
A detailed but clear letter of invitation stating that you’ll want her to land with you to make settling easy and assist with your baby.
If married, she can attach a copy of her marriage certificate, if she has kids younger than 18 add that as well, properties or land in her name. State that you’ll fully sponsor her. You’ll attach a copy of your COPR, and your bank statement ...Paper application seems a bit faster than online, but I’ve also seen people that applied online (no travel history) in October and have gotten their visas.

Hello everyone
Please, what documents do I need to send if my sister in Canada is gonna sponsor the visit. Do I still need to provide my own account details?
Yes you do. All documents to show you have strong ties to Nigeria. E.g job docs, marriage Cert, land deed, property....anything at all to show say you no go run once they give you visa.

Hello Please
am about applying soon but i want to know if i should make payment for the Conference first .. Pls Should i Make the Payment for Conference before Applying and also to book the Hotel Reservation with Flight ticket ??
need advise
If you can get the conference invitation without paying that will be your best bet. Just book flight and hotel on hold, don’t pay till your application is approved.

Good day everyone
I want submit my application for TRV next week but ill also need my international passport towards January ending. How long will I be able to hold on to my passport if I do online application?
Also, if application is eventually approved and I submit my passport, how long is it likely to take before I get my passport back
Once your visa is approved, you’ll be given 30days to submit your passport. The “stamping process” takes 2-7days acccording to VFS. You best bet will be online application.

Pls how do we go about passport submission? Must it be in person? Or can one use a courier? What fees are involved please? No submission detail came with the passport request.
Sorted. It’ll be in person to drop off passport in Lagos, 13,860. If paying for return courier an additional 10,120. Saw this on their website. Cheers!

Good Morning Nairalanders,

To all TRV applicants, I pray the long wait ends well. I applied for (visitor's visa) on Sept 12th via online, then found out paper route has been faster in recent months. Anxiety did set in but I managed to keep faith and praise on while waiting. My child and I got approval and I testify it happened only because God showed us Mercy and granted us Favour with the VO. I had been tempted to withdraw my application in the first week of November but I managed to keep my hope alive. Waiting is tasking on the mind, but It's advisable to distract yourself with other engagement if your time of intended travel permits you. (I, We,Us ) prayed and praised and God answered in His Mercies.

Timeline
Applied: Sept 12th
Biometrics: Sept 18th
Passport Request: Nov 19th
Drop off: Nov 21st
Pick up: Nov 23rd
Congratulations....same day I applied for my mum. Did you send any CSE?

Lol who told you it’s by queue? All my ppl here that applied for their parents to come over have gotten a response either positive or negative. Some applied 3 weeks ago. It’s way past the 38days wait time which was the expected duration as at the time I applied. Fingers crossed for next week

Thanks for your response sir.
But I've tried the web form, I uploaded, but upon submission always gives an error... THE REMOTE SERVER TURNED AN ERROR. 400 BAD REQUEST.
I'm hoping it'll still go through upon retrial, but is there another way out?
Or is it possible that the embassy gives anothr chance for document upload during the processing?
I really hope there's a solution to this, or is there a direct contact that I can relay this issue to?
I'll be going for the biometrics tomorrow morning.
Thanks.

Keep trying, got same response yesterday, tried today and it went through.

Good morning everyone.

Please i need advice based on my family application.

I am a frequent traveller to the UK (currently have 2yrs visa) and my wife and child (a year old) have 6months UK visa which is still a virgin. We plan travelling before Dec tho.

However, we intend applying for Canada tourist visa after we return from our UK trip.

My question, CAN WE DO A PAPER ROUTE OR ONLINE ROUTE? WHICH IS BETTER FOT OUR STORY?

Also, my wife and I once applied for US visa 3 yrs ago before the birth of our child(We were refusef) and she applied for child birth visa term as medical (she was refused). Hearing Canada and America are sister country, I HOPE BEING REFUSED AN AMERICAN VISA WONT AFFECT OUR CHANCE OF GETTING THE CANADIAN VISA?

Thank you and I look forward for your advice, God bless.
No harm in trying, give it your best shot. Be honest and sraightforward. Being denied a US visa doesn't automatically mean you'll be denied a Canadian visa, just show your strong ties to Naija and be honest.
Seems the paper route currently has a faster processing time.

Select Lagos or Abuja, whichever you want and register....
Thanks! This worked.

Link DOESN'T WORK FOR BOOKING APPOINTMENTS One just keeps getting transferred to other pages, till u reach a general info page that has nothing to do wt appointment booking.

They have improved, things aren't this way any more. For Lagos applicants, the link below should help you for appointment booking

To be honest as a new landed immigrant in Calgary I really wouldn't pick the NW as a first place to settle. It is a lovely area but most areas are largely "suburban" for the lack of a better description. Also transit isn't so great there as the lrt only gets up to a point and you're left with the bus. So the NW closer to downtown is probably better in terms of transit. Also driving means hitting deerfoot or crowchild trail which are the major highways connecting the NW to the south or downtown. This would mean having to deal with traffic if/when there are accidents. Another thing to consider is that most jobs are located downtown or in the south. That being said, the NW is a lovely area grin
Thanks so much Vcole. Didnt know all this! So the SW or SE are preferable areas for newcomers right? Downtown as well? Kids aren't of school age yet so more particular about a good transit system since I don't intend to start driving immediately. All the best with acada.

Thanks @ senior Salford and Vcole. You guys are right! Came across the crime stats for Calgary(2017), shows same...just didnt want it to be a case of giving a dog a bad name and hanging it.The rent as compared to NW isn't so low for condos/apartments almost about same range. However, NE seems to have loads and loads of cheap basements shocked

Hey guys,

I am back again reading up but had to skip some pages cause of time.

So, we are back in Naija after the short landing. It was alright. I did not see all of Calgary to make an overall judgement. All I saw was white everywhere. The layering up helped a lot and I was not as cold as I thought I will be. We spent minimal time outdoors though.

We were able to get the basics done: SIN registration, health card registration, opened bank accounts with TD. Hubby tried the knowledge test for driver's license, failed the first time (because of one point-painful) but passed the second time. For me, I was not ready to fail o. I took vcole's advice - doing all knowledge and driving test when we return in the beautiful summer time grin.

Em, I decided to take my kids for a walk one day, being bundled inside the house for days. So, we layered up 4 layers! As we stepped outside, it was windy. It was -12 that day. I decided, let's go right, up the hill with the wind on our backs. We got to the top of the road, kids were sniffing, with emergency catarrh and I said, okay, let's turn back. grin grin grin that was when I understood the wind! grin It was biting!! My 7 year old enjoyed it!! It was exciting to her. But the younger one, hmmm, I had to carry her, put her on my shoulder so the wind won't blow on her face. This walk took a total of 6 minutes. grin I felt better when I got indoors. Will I do it again, sure!
What amazed me the most was days later, when the temperature increase to 6 degrees, we celebrated the warmth. Amazing how the body adjusts!

Hmm, I do not want to cause a big debate but, the cost of living when converted to naira is not a small money. I already knew that from all the knowledge I gathered from this thread, I was just not ready to calculate it. It all boils down to, is it worth it in the end? Yes, yes and yes!

Next step for me now is to find a good elementary school.

Please can you guys advice me on which areas to avoid in Calgary. Someone has mentioned NE. Does this mean the whole NE??

Thank you!
Please my Calgary peeps, Salford, Vcole et al..Is the NE truely to be avoided? If yes, why? Unsafe? Gangsterism?
