I like your honesty. This sounded like me in 2012 when I was about to leave religion.
Atheism to me was not a choice because I had no other option. I tried to force myself to continue believing in God but I was like a child who had learnt how to walk but still forcing himself to walk. I had to let go.

This is one of the reason why I don't preach atheism to people. Over the years I have met people like you who are doubting their religion and I encouraged them to leave that it's okay. but I can't see myself telling convinced theists to leave their religion because it's something i wished I had at some point.

I have realized that atheism has benefited me in many ways but let me tell you it's major drawback. The biggest thing that you will lose by leaving religion is a sense of purpose. You will realize that this world is not a test to another world (heaven), it is the real deal. You have to create a purpose for yourself based on your experience and talents.

The greatest thing you will gain by leaving religion is that you will understand how the real world works by using only your experience and common sense. You will fear real threats and not imagined (superstitious) things. That will make religious people see you as intelligent even though you are only seeing what they could have seen if they had chosen to drop superstition from their life.

I am very interested to see what Nigerian Muslims will say about this. In 2003, Muslims boycotted Danish foods because a man in Denmark drew a cartoon of their prophet. To be honest, I am beginning to lose my faith in the existence of atheism, because despite that atheism is supposed to be the belief that God doesn't exist, all I see instead is God-Hateism.

I mean, if indeed, someone doesn't believe God exists, why exhaust so much energy and time on a non-existent being?

I've come to observe that so-called "atheists" are usually people who have something personal against God either directly or indirectly, from the evil they have suffered at the hands of religious people who they expected better from, or church leaders who they looked up but were disappointed to see them act as devils.

And this makes them to lose faith in God and become irreligious or unbelievers. So it's not that they do not believe God exists but that they hate or have no regard for God who they believe exists as a result.

But instead of consequently expressing their anger at God who they very well know exist as irreligious or God-haters, they would claim to be atheists, perhaps to get back at God through denying His existence because of the extent of hate they feel towards Him.

I have encountered a lot of them in this forum, and it's clear that atheism gives them the suitable platform to get back at God, hence the amount of hate being meted out at God by them, despite claiming that they don't He believe exists.

So as much as I would want to believe that atheism truly exists, what I've seen over time is more or less God-hateism, which has made me to begin to lose my faith in the existence of atheism.

It is for this reason that I want to call on the true atheists in the house, if there be any at all to come to my aid and prove to me that atheism truly exists, and it is not God-hateism as I am beginning to think, because I'm that close to becoming an unbeliever in the existence of atheism.

So that atheism doesn't lose one more believer in its existence, that's if there's already someone else who believes that atheism does not exist.

The people that exploit others using hate will make their subjects believe that all their problems are caused by a certain group of people and if they can make the people disappear then so will all their problems. Example include;
Hitler and the Jews, Hindus and Muslims in India, Arabs and the Jews in the middle East , the major tribes in nigeria, the major tribes in my state etc.

We should see this as an opportunity to understand how hate is started and spread because from what happened during the last elections and what I have been seeing on nairaland, if the hate culture that is growing very fast in Nigeria is not checked then we will face something worse that what is currently happening in South Africa and we will have no one to blame.
