Fantastic story. I was in the village in march this year for my one of my aged in-law's burial. It was a traditional burial so there were lots of meat. A cow, pigs and goats. Some of the meats were sacrificed so many 'Christians' refused to eat them. Just like you said there was lots of meat, palm wine and beer. Thank God I wont have to write a story like yours because it is one thing to have a good time with your kinsmen and it is another to do it with a clean conscience.

If i no follow you for facebook, wetin I gain?.

You arguments don't complement one another. If your parents made you cram religious stuff, how did that stop you from going out to play out your passion in your spare time? Now that you have realized this seeming 'mistake', what have you achieved?

You clearly dont understand child psychology. Children see their parents like gods.

It makes us give priority to unimportant things.
let me tell you a short story:

in late 1990s when Oyinbo parents were buying toys for their kids, we African children were building our toys by ourselves.
During the vacations, My friends and I will go search all the refuse dumps in Samaru, Zaria we I was born. We will look for used batteries and tins to build tin cars and other playthings. You need to see the kind of things we built then. We were little geniuses.

But our parents did not like it because they saw it as a waste of time. My father made me join alter servants association in my church and my muslim friends were forced to go to the Islamiyya. So, while I was made to cram the Catechism book, my muslim friends were cramming the 99 names of Allah instead of using the time to exploit our technical ingenuity.

Imagine all the time Nigerians spend in churches and mosques. If we had used it to build our human capacity, I don't think we will be importing toothpick today.

Today my child hood Hausa friends and I hate each other because of indoctrination that took its effect later.
Instead of coming together to build a better Nigeria like we did as kids, we only care whether the president is from our religion or not.
If you've been wondering who stole the African child's brain then don't worry because I just told you.

Religion is the root cause of Nigeria's problem.

first of all, because of religion, 90% of Nigerian children that this life is just a test.
if you don't see a problem with teaching a child that this life is just test then you have a problem.

LANDLORD72:
The greatest obstacles to the liberation of the south from northern hegemony and bondage are:

1) The Yoruba that hates Igbos.

2) The Igbo that hates Yorubas.

3) The southern minorities that hate Igbos and Yorubas.

4) The Igbos and Yorubas that hate southern minorities.

Southern UNITY is a fundamental pre-requisite to southern EMANCIPATION. Without the former, you cannot achieve the latter.

Our greatest enemies are not the northerners or their Fulani masters but the southern fool that is filled with hate and malice for his fellow southerner.

Rip to the dead solders

As a middle belter I look forward to when we will leave this parasitic association called Nigeria but it is just like you said, We need to be United first. It surprised me to discover to even though my people share a similar culture and religion with the Igbos, they have strong distrust for the Igbos. we have to start changing that.

is it not Yoruba people? undecided

The truth is that it is very difficult to cooperate with Ibo people. my friend in school was the president of National Association of Ibo Students (NAIS) so I had first hand information about what was happening in the association. I was shocked to see the kind of dirty politics that was played among the members especially discrimination based on ones state of origin. Abia, Anambra and Enugu students were struggling to each take control of the association.

If you really want to secede from this country then you must learn to corporate with the Yorubas. When something like this happen you should sympathize with them and not come online and start mocking them and showing your 'I told you so' attitude.

The Yorubas have strong international influence especially in England and USA so if the Ibos corporate with them then seceding will be very easy for them.

first of all, it's price not prize

Secondly, this is a very serious matter, in fact it is the indirect cause of Africa's backwardness. Our love for shortcuts have made us chosen spirituality over science.

During my NYSC days, My colleagues were shocked because I told them that I don't believe spirits exists.
A year after my NYSC, one of them called me and was very excited while telling me about something strange his sister witness. He was trying to prove to me that spirits truly exist.

I asked him where he was and he said Lagos and I told him that I was in Kano yet he is able to speak to me as if we were together. Is that not a miracle?
From anti malaria to flying in planes to space exploration, to the internet and IVF science has performed so much miracles but I don't know why we choose to ignore it and instead embrace baseless superstitions.

Until we drop our superstitions and embrace verifiable facts, we blacks will continue to be a liability to the other populations of the world.

People like you will still accuse Buhari of nepotism because he appoint people from the north into key positions. That was exactly what korah did because it seemed Moses was the father of nepotism. Imagine he appointed his brother to be number 2 after him and later concoted laws to will give the whole of his tribe an everlasting privilege; excluding them from work and going to wars.

Korah stood for fairness and equality and should be considered as a brave hero.
