To start with,we need to know the arrangement of the solar panels.From the schematic layout, your charge controller is 70 amp with max VOC 150v.I am quite certain that us grossly inadequate to cater for the input from you panels so some energy us going to be wasted.I don't what the Voc of each 350 watts panel.is but my guess is it will be close to 48v.

Which means you cannot have more than 4 connected in series.

My advice is this.Get a qualified solar engineer to look at the PV arrangement. I would advice you get another charge controller and separate the panels cos you are charging two batteries connected in parallel.

The arrangement should be 3s2p for each set up going into into each of the charge controllers and ultimately to the batteries.

If you had sought advice earlier, for this huge set up it is better you buy an hybrid inverter capable of taking up to VOC of 500v

You should subsequently see an improvement but ultimately you need to still increase your panel size.Total of 4200 watts is not sufficient to charge 2 of those 48v batteries when you consider losses as well.

I need some info.
I read online that running an inverter aircon 24/7 at 25°c is more efficient and consumes less energy in the long term than running it on turbo mode for a few hours and switching to gen mode. I do not have the battery capacity to run this test 24/7, can you guys help out and run a 1hp inverter AC for 24/48hrs to compare kWh consumed @25°c vs gen/turbo modes? Anyone with substation capacity PV/battery bank should kindly assist with this small test.

Very funny! Someone should should kill his or battery to proof a moot point. In my humble opinion, I don't know how much is there to gain by using "inverter ac". This is a matter of physics. Unless, the inverter ac makers have found ways of producing or destroying energy, temperature for temperature, the two types of AC will end up consuming similar energy. Starting and stopping consumes more energy overall than allowing the thing to run uninterrupted. Motors need more energy to start than to keep running.

It is possible. Did most of mine myself. Got a very good electrician to help with the heavy lifting and physically tasking parts like climbing roofs

the power button when pressed turns on the remote as well as sends signal to the ac to start working.
you don't even have to put it in your pocket and leave the room. all you have to do is switch off the remote
by pressing the power button while blocking the ir signal with the palm of your hands. when you remove your
palms and press it again, ac stays on.

The simple answer is that the AC has a power toggle. It sends out single IR power code. The AC reacts based on its state. If AC is off, the signal will turn on the AC, if it is on, it will turn it off.

We used to call what the OP is asking for "Discrete Codes" where the signal for ON and OFF are different and separate and the remote will usually have an ON and another OFF button rather than a single POWER button.

Na wa oh. I'm getting scared now. My installer used an AC breaker between the panels and charge controller and it trips off once the sun is very bright. I noticed this when the charge controller is charging at current beyond 25-30A.

You need to increase the rating of the breaker. It should not be tripping off during normal operations.

I've seen it fail under two years. Bad charging. Make sure yours are charged with the specified voltage and current.

A friend had 4 go bad in about a year. I don't know what happened. He was careful with charging. That shook my faith in Trojan, though I still have some old 6V trojans that I'm still rocking for about 6 years now.

Let me break form a little here but please do not take it personal. It is getting annoying to see people say this or that is incorrect with no hard data to back it up.

The issue I see here is one of perspective - some people have only used a fairly basic BMS that is not tightly integrated with their inverter system and it works and this is perfectly fine, but then they keep arguing the features and benefits of a system they have never used with another person who has daily access to to data from both the basic BMS systems which have no comms with the inverter as well as large commercial grade systems where BMS and inverter have communications and are tightly integrated together.

I expose the inner workings of an integrated system with data that can be independently proven or disproven but you do not argue with the data, rather just a blanket statement of this is incorrect based on how you run your own DIY system which is essentially for home use. I say yes voltage based control works but you get more features and benefits when the BMS and inverter/charger have comms but you say this is inaccurate yet provide no further info to back it up?

What we post on NL is for the benefit of a wide audience, my goal is to educate and inform and lay out possibilities and options and also learn new stuff - it would be really nice if you do not just say 'Oh this is inaccurate' rather what exactly is inaccurate? and then provide hard data to back up any claims with?

This way we can all learn from each other.

You have to ask yourself why is there a market for ICC and similar control and monitoring software to use with the Axpert type inverters? Why did the Axpert manufacturers start integrating additional hardware for comms with Lithium BMS into their inverters? why did Victron and Deye invest so heavily in the ability for their systems to have comms with various BMS? why did Schneider start rolling out systems capable of talking to the BMS when they were previously doing open loop voltage control in the past? Surely all these efforts across so many providers are not just based on idle speculation or to extract more money from the customers? No one is doubting that voltage control with no comms can work but I struggle when one argues against the facts yet has only limited experience with these complex systems.

May I respectfully say that this is also about perspective, not exactly a truism. There are several statements here that are incorrect from my perspectives . The so-called "integration" are more often about data for decision making whether by machines or humans. I have a DIY set up, but it will give many "industrial" setups a run for their money. I have all the data and the communications you get from any so-called integrated system. I know what each of my lithium battery cell is doing at anytime 24X7. I will like to know what you are able to know or do with your system that others can not do. Maybe you will make a convert of me.

Your suggestion that you are somehow experienced with more "complex systems" than anyone else is basically a brag. It is meaningless to me and presumably many others. Indeed, anytime you have to pull your "experience" to advance your argument, the chances are that you have moved into the region of what the oyinbos will call "bullshit". Otherwise, you will make your point and provide the evidence or advance some logic to support it, not "I know this more than you".

Let's continue to share knowledge here, not bragging right, superiority or "my setup is better than yours". Battery charging and discharging is inherently a very simple technology. It is like filling a bucket. What you can do is to work on how fast or slowly you want to fill the bucket and how full or empty you want the bucket to be. The rest is marketing.

Genuinely out of curiosity, is anyone running ACs or AC off their renewable system? If yes, what is the minimum battery and PV they running it off and how has the performance being?

I run a single 1.5Hp LG AC on my system. The AC is located in my bedroom and it works in bursts of 1, 2 or 3 hours, maximum of 6 hours per night. I tend to do more of 4 hours than 6 hours. I have a total lithium power of about 600AH and I'm not shy of pushing it down to as low as 30%.

No I sold 4 units out of my 20 Pylontechs and replaced with 32pcs 3.2v 280Ah Lishens.

The remaining 16 Pylon US2000s will continue to run off my 15kva Victron inverter while the Deye 8kw will be paired with the 48v 560Ah of Lishens.

I have contrived an arrangement where the 15kva Victron will transfer loads over to the 8kw Deye once the Pylontechs are at 40% SoC - this is essentially replacing my Generator autostart if I run loads aggressively (4 ACs late into the evening)

In the past heavy loads taking the battery to 35% SoC would trigger a Gen start for 1 hour, now instead of a Gen start it will trigger a load transfer to the Deye which will then run to 20% SoC before starting the Generator.

From 48kwh of Pylontech and 38kwh useable energy, I now have a combined 67kwh battery bank of which I can use 60kwh.

See attached pics when I took delivery of the cells and trying to figure out how best to arrange them.

Wow! 60KWh of useable battery power is a lot. It is about 3 times what I use daily.

There is a bit more to Lithium charging than just voltage based control.

The Victron philosophy is to establish comms between battery and inverter/charger. This is mostly done via CAN bus in the Victron world but can also be done via RS485 or Serial - this comms allows a *Smart BMS* to act as system controller able to send control messages to the system's inverters/chargers who then become passive slaves.

When the inverter/charger can talk to the battery, you are able to access more energy and charge better and faster. In the Victron world, three control parameters dynamically obtained from a smart BMS are used to manage battery charging.

Charge Current Limit - CCL - for Pylontech, allows battery to request a max 0.5c and a min 0.2c charge rate at different SoCs

Discharge Current Limit - DCL - makes it so that you are forced to throttle loads as the SoC drops below 10% - you can no longer do 0.5c discharge rates past 10% SoC

Charge Voltage Limit - CVL - Dynamically adjusts to achieve 100% charge and also take care of cell imbalances so that no cell is overcharged even though there is massive imbalance in the cells - I have seen BMS elegantly limit CVL to 50v in a scenario where 2 cells out of 15 had issues - this was sustained for about a week until the balancers were able to bring the entire pack back into balance.

In a moderate to large system running off Lithium batteries, you really want to have a truly Smart BMS capable of comms - fixed voltage charging in a Lithium profile may not cut it and it is entirely possible to overcharge some cells or destroy your batteries even though overall system wide voltage limits are within spec.

In my case with Victron talking to Pylontech, the Pylontech BMS broadcasts a control parameter called charge current limit - CCL of 800amps when battery is low, this allows the inverter and MPPTs to run full throttle pushing in a combined 22kw (my installed hardware limit) of charge current until about 90% SoC when they throttle charging so the cells don't swell or heatup.

Further, because the batteries can report SoC, I am able to set precise Gen Start/Stop parameters and a host of others to achieve an optimal system.

This is why one would pay a premium for truly Lithium compatible equipment beyond just setting a Lithium charge voltage profile.

I honestly don't believe a word of these very technical and deliberately confusing points. And I'm not talking about what you wrote, but what the battery, BMS and charger manufacturers have clearly made you to believe. I continue to believe that most of these talks are basically to make you pay more for pre-existing technology given a new name. One thing I'm prepared to concede is that battery manufacturers may set stringent conditions for their batteries as a way of ensuring that warranty claims are not too burdensome. If a car can do 100Km/h, the manufacturers will be happy to limit you to 50Km/h knowing that the chances of damage is much lower at that speed. So, they may tell you not to charge at 1C or 0.5C or whatever tickles their fancies. With a good BMS, you can actually be a bit liberal with your lithium batteries. Your BMS should stand between your battery and any problem. The chances are that you will be seriously under-utilizing your batteries if you strictly follow manufacturers guidelines. Lithium can actually take as high as 1C charging current. That is why phone manufacturers are doing all sorts of high current charging, warp charging, flash charging, superspeed charging etc.

I also understand why installers may want to push premium and extra-protected system to clients. It reduces support calls and increases your business reputations. But, as a DIY guy, I have better ways to spend my money than buying bogus technologies that add little or nothing to my setup. I have used Victron "Lithium Profile" before and I see no advantage over my current setup with Outback and Felicity CCs and Inverters.

I don't know what else "lithium profile" on a charger mean other than setting bulk, absorption and float voltage to the same value and disable equalization. That is exactly what happens when I select "lithium profile" from victron charger. As to the fear of continuous float charges on the battery, the BMS usually does the remaining. When my lithium batteries enter "float" the current meters read zero.

So, if you have a perfectly good charger (inverter or Charge controller) on which you can modify the charging parameters, I don't see the need to waste extra money on any "lithium" profile, I honestly think it is a scam for manufacturers to make a little extra money on selling their inverters and chargers.

Tasmota is a whole different firmware from the stock version so yes sonoff app will not work with it, have not used tuya or smart life so don't know if those will work.

Tasmota opens a world of possibility with these devices that one can only dream of with the proprietary firmware that came with them. But, it requires some efforts. I went to Tasmota because I wanted to have full local control. Tuya will first send your command to China before routing it back to your device and if there is no internet you may not be able to control your own switches. This was my initial experience, but I haven't touch Tuya or sonoff since 2018 so things might have changed in relation to local control.

I will like to know if this is actually correct since I started using Deye(5 months ago or so) I have done about 320KWh consumption on grid and 1.2MWh on battery and 2.1MWh solar generation. I will say grid is cheaper in that case except that I don't get useful grid all the time

Grid is always cheaper. We don't do solar to compete with the grid on cost, but on availability and reliability. Reliability is something you can not guarantee with grid.
