Dam5reey: Hello Boss, this Felicity lithium battery,
I see there is separate charge controller
Does it mean it doesn't charge properly with the Felicity hybrid inverter? I can not see an hybrid inverter in that picture. Beside, Felicity hybrid inverter will give you 80A Max charging current. If you need more, you will have to add another charge controller. |

unicmarket: I like to ask this boss, How many ah is each of your battery? And was it drained when you started charging it with the famicare? And again was your Inverter also charging the batteries at the same time? The idea was to supplement my inverter charger, a 2kva mercury inverter that maxed out at 20A or so. But, I realized that the inverter I was trying to supplement was in fact giving more output than this charger. The bottom line is that it is not a very effective charger, anyone buying it shouldn't expect any miracle. The "30ah" label is completely meaningless unless it means that it can only charge 30AH battery. |

earthrealm: So after a lot of back and forth, Am back to this lifepo4 group buy matter.
Due to less than stellar performance from several china shippers, i have tried. Am considering the safer option of the alibaba seller handling the shipping. He says his minimum cargo is 1cbm which is 64 pieces of Lishen 3.2v 272ah batts, cost about $550 customs and all inclusive, and pick up in their lagos warehouse. I only need 32 pieces, hence looking for possible buyers of the other 32 cells.
Each cell is about $80, and shipping duration is 3 to 4 months
The chinese new yr holidays is coming, commercial activities in china will grind to a halt from early feb and pick up again early march I will like to take 16 pieces, please. Thanks |

Peterlove11: Thanks..... Actually am considering a 48v hybrid inverter, or a standalone mppt then later get a 48v transformer inverter. But my challenge is how strong are all this hybrid inverters. Are they as equally reliable and strong like transformer inverters Oh, I see. I have a friend who had an hybrid inverter, Zinox ipower or something, that didn't last long. So, I bought my Felicity hybrid with some hope that it will last. I have had it for only about 6 months and so far, so good. NB. I'm not using the charge controller part and I rarely use it as a charger. I'm hoping that will extend its useful life. |

Peterlove11: House....Please I need your help, I recently installed solar panels in addition to my previous setup 3.5kva/24v with 4 220ah batteries due to the poor phcn supply. But I discovered that the daily solar generation is low, roughly 3.7kw. My batteries is yet to be fully charge since installation. Installed: 6 270w sunpower panels 2 installed facing south due to space constraint, the remaining 4 facing east 60ah 12/24/48v pwm CC. Maximum current have seen on the controller is 23amps Is their anything I can do to increase the daily solar yield. At least make my Batteries enter float by the end of a day Facing East or West is a NO NO. When you face East you receive sun until slightly after mid-day after which your panel will be in a shade. South is the best, North is also manageable if you have space constraints. Then consider changing your CC to MPPT. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by adrusa: 10:32am On Dec 22, 2020 |
eleojo23: Please for those of you who have prepaid PHCN meters, does charging your batteries with the mains deplete your points significantly? I mean does it consume much units or is the consumption negligible? Yes! Inverter charging is inefficient. For every KWH you put in your battery, you may draw up to 1.5KWH from PHCN depending on the efficiency of your inverter. And for every KWH you put in your battery, you are probably only able to take out 0.7 or 0.8KWH. So, if you do this regularly, the losses add up. |

NiyiOmoIyunade: A 63A breaker is rated to carry 63A indefinitely - it may or may not trip at 70A.
The breaker response to current depends on the current response curve rating - Type A, B, C, D e.t.c Most of the breakers I see locally are C-Curve.
If you have a very rapid rise in amps over and above the rated current (such as a short circuit) then a breaker is likely to trip quickly. A slow and steady ramp up may not cause a trip.
See screenshots below for the various ratings and working tolerances.
This is one of the reasons why there is a market for those electronic voltage and current protection devices you sell since they have a much more precise response. I have yet to see a DC version though. Good info. |

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by adrusa: 11:28am On Dec 05, 2020 |
ojeysky: I am referring to lifepo4 (LFP) and all of them are equal in nominal voltage of 3.2v and are rated to be charged at up to 3.65v without an immediate damage of cell. They are also equal in number of cells that makes up battery banks 4s, 8s, 16s for typical inverters 12v, 24v, 48v respectively. So the pylons, Felicity and the DIY will have those characteristics in common. The BMS then makes the difference in low and high voltage cut offs.
All LFP are not supposed to be floated(they are CC-CV) hence no mention of such in spec, but there are still several inverter built for lead acid that we are trying to adapt for lithium charging.
Charging an LFP at 3.4v max has just about 1 or 2% less capacity compared to charging at 3.6v so I personally don't see the motivation for charging at high voltages and consider 3.4v to be an optimal charging point. However in a solar environment where one needs to get as much juice within a short window sticking with 3.4v won't be good enough so I push mine a little further to 3.45v max. My banks are also kept at 55V or 3.44v/cell, (Bulk, absorption and float). |

NiyiOmoIyunade: Pertinent to note that voltage is not an accurate representation of state of charge and this is even more the case for most Lithium chemistries especially at partial state of charge.
I witnessed a Felicity Lithium pack go off at 50.2v after two days of low charge. One would have thought at least 30% capacity left at that voltage but the BMS tripped things off. Actually, using voltage to gauge lithium battery capacity is a lot more accurate than for lead acid. But, the point is taken that coulomb counting is the best way to gauge any battery capacity. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by adrusa: 9:21pm On Nov 27, 2020 |
NiyiOmoIyunade: In reading the manual, the battery wiring diagram seemed to indicate that for two batteries in parallel, it was okay to connect only one battery to the busbar or inverter.
So you put battery A and B in parallel via their +ve and -ve terminals and connect to busbar from either battery A only or battery B only whereas conventional wisdom is to take +ve to busbar from one battery and -ve to busbar from the other battery.
In any case the cables that come supplied are too short to be much use.
Perhaps they believe the BMS and inbuilt balancer would even out any issues.
3.6v and above is rather highly charged for 3.2v nominal LFP. I like to top out at 3.5v. Bad things start to happen if an LFP cell is too highly charged
Did you manage to examine the BMS you ripped out of the Felicity? Are any comms or user mods/tweaks possible? There are two communication ports RS485 I guess, but Felicity supplies no software for any of their products, so we are left to search for the original products they cloned. I have been wondering if their BMS is cloned from pylontech or BYD. I'm still investigating. On the wiring in parallel, I support your opinion that their BMS and communication between the batteries will even out the outputs. |

IYGEAL: I want to know something. As I currently use 600W PV to sufficiently charge my 200AH 12V Amaron Quanta battery, would same pv be able to charge 12v 200AH lithium ion phosphate battery?
If not (as I suspect), what pv capacity would be enough to charge the latter?
Also, what would be the difference in performance of both batteries when fully charged and running same load of say, 300W max? 1. If your current PV setup can adequately charge your lead acid battery, it will be sufficient for lithium of similar capacity. Lithium is in fact a bit more efficient in charging, so it will even take a little less. 2. Lithium will perform better in all ramifications. |
