Please guys have anyone collected any item from post office from February 2023 till date at Uyo-Akwaibom state?

I don't know what's happening there. I went there around 2nd week of march and was told that items have not arrived Uyo post office since the ending of Jan 2023.
One person there said it was due to cash crunch issue.

My item has been cleared by customs based on tracking online, since Feb 13, 2023. But up till now it has not arrived.

Is anyone experiencing this at other branches?

An insider confided with me that they have not been using their drivers and bus again but third party agents who brings deliveries 2 times a month.
It's so abnormal.

"But why are their parts so expensive if as they claim they have no middle man and are direct with manufacturers? Afterall they are a Carquest undecided"

Ladies and gentlemen, the answer is simple-NIGERIA. No matter how honest you try to be the system encourages illegal behavior.

Case in point an issue I am actively wrestling as we speak that has been progressively getting worse over the past year.

When you import parts worth $1,800 (complete with manufacturer invoices attached to the pallet), pay shipping of $1,700 and customs decides that they know better than the manufacturer and says the goods cost $8,000 then hands you a duty bill of N1.6m ($3,333), what price can you then sell to your customer for? We fight it and usually get it down somebut that usually delays deliveries by 3-4 weeks undecided

Could we do like others and smuggle? Yes, we could but why would we put such a large investment at risk? We believe in transparency and doing things the right way but when a system takes advantage of that, what is your recourse? Despite that, we have never passed on the cost to the customer and simply relied on a low margin-high volume model.

So the next time you feel that Carquest prices are high, don't blame us, blame the system. I'm all ears if anyone has A LEGAL way to bring prices lower for our customers.

See images below.

Sorry I did not read your post from the beginning but I saw a red flag - thus my intervention.
Never use companies like FEDEX, UPS to ship (except unavoidable) because the complaints about crazy customs billing is assured.
Look for guys that does shipping /clearing business and use them or ship and clear yourself.
I have a feeling the guys at Fedex customs section connive with customs to fleece their clients.
... my suspicion is based on many years of repeated patterns of observation and wide feedback.
Car Talk / Re: Is This Car Suitable For Bolt? by aeu1: 3:35pm On Jan 16, 2023
Depending on the city you are.
If you are in Abuja It will be very viable because you will see rides with sufficient distance/time per trip to earn you returns. eg 2k, 3k, 4k a drop kind of business.
In smaller towns - the truth is that you will be earning to refuel your ride. N600/drop and the likes. To squeeze out true profit under this climate is hard especially for your engine size.
What I am saying. Just try out and see. If it works out for you - fine. If not, report your experience as well to guide/inform others who may come up with this question in the future.
God bless you.

I’m sorry but this comparison is dumb.

You compare a 2003 Lexus to a 2011 Elantra??

Please go for Elantra! No competition
I have to ask because I don't claim expertise on subjects outside my competencies: There had been long standing impression:-
- that Japanese cars are far superior to Korean - that Lexus is an upscale version of Toyota.
- that Hyundai materials are not rugged and
- there was a time where Korean car parts were to expensive and limited.
- I'm aware that some properly built cars still do have strong demand even at older age and some cars even when new are to be avoided based on technical or other reason.
This thus form the basis of my comparison between the two and according become the reason why I came to an open forum to be indoctrinated properly.
Thanks for your time and Idea

Actually, from what I studied, the engine 1MZ-FE is same as the V6 versions of Toyota Camry Orobo, Tiny Light Envelope light, and Big for Nothing and then 1994–2004 Toyota Avalon, 1997–2002 Toyota Sienna, etc. So, I don't think the engine parts commands an exotic price except for the body parts - which is not interchangeable with the common Toyota parts.
I do sincerely appreciate your profound comments - sir. God bless you.

ehmmy11:

The lexus should get the pick because you live in Nigeria, mechanics will be more comfortable working on it, spare parts available but abit pricey. Besides it's the better built car. over look the fuel ratings you can't have it all ..

PS: owning the lexus will make you have irritating, unwanted and unnecessary interactions with the NPF grin

I am at the crossroads of making a choice between Lexus ES300 (2002), 194,600miles and Hyundai Elantra 2011, 112,463miles.

What I like in the Lexus will be the high quality build and reliability and my concern as as now will be the fuel consumption of the 3.0L V6 motor of 14.701 L/100km.

Then for the Hyundai Elantra, what I admire about it should be the economic 1.8L motor with acclaimed 8.4L/100km fuel consumption rating. But I do not know much about the durability and cost of spare parts.

Both cars are expected from USA.
I may not factor what ought to be the most vital consideration when one aims at cars apart from focus on fuel consumption and engine mileage, that's why I humbly now present to this wonderful forum to solicit for superior advice on best option amongst the two.
Purpose: Daily use to commute to work (Civil service middle level) and then shopping and church at weekends. Events: I seldom attend, maybe 5 times yearly.
Total mileage per year is about 10,000miles (based on my past 6 years movement record).
So, based on my profile above, I am sure you may comment keeping an eye on:
- Cost of spare parts (and extent of availability)
- Mechanics' relative understanding of how to diagnose and fix.
- How rugged or durable the engine, body, interior and suspension are.
- Any technical or performance issues peculiar to each of them
- Your experience in using them.

Please can someone kindly confirm if Zenith Mastercard is currently accepted on aliexpress,
I had a declined transaction around 3am this morning.
Though I went to their branch and was informed, that they only stopped the use of the card to withdraw physical cash from ATM abroad, online transactions are still supported.
Should I try again?

Guy, just give them some days, you will called to pick up. At times, updates don't tally with exact reality. I've seen many cases where tracking marks item as signed and collected, whereas, it has not even reached the destination PO.

Quite right. Most Anker lacks vital FM Radio. But this soundcore's output is amazing. The only issues I have with it are lack of LED Display and required USB Cable to receive FM signals.

So finally Customs Dan nack me maga today, first time in all my years of ordering with Aliexpress sad

Based on personal findings, I feel I'm understanding this customs issh a little, I'm not saying I'm 100% sure, but I just have to say my view and we all can follow up

I'll try to make this brief as I can.

The main point I want to note out to everyone is I advice that when you're ordering a device, tell the seller to tag the package as mobile phone and let the amount be probably less than $40.

I'm pointing out this cause what of what happened today. At the spot of collecting it, normally, I pay 400 for phones that land, but now it's been increased to 500. Right there today someone else with bigger package paid same 500, her package was tagged screen. On the floor, the one I thought was mine showed 'mobile phone' and I asked her to check if that was mine, she said it wasn't my name, then asked if that was what I was expecting, I said yes. Then the other madam that knows me well now came up and said she remembers seeing my package today, the kinda smile I saw, I didn't even code that gbese dey... Hehe

She just went to the shelve, picked up a bunch of bundled packages, then pulled out mine, showed me the paper and bill... Na there my head click well...
The bundle she pulled out, there was like at least 7-10 goods tagged by customs.

So down to my conclusion why I say you should tag your phones as MOBILE PHONE; It turns out that the seller that shipped my phone as PUZZLE TOY for $9.. you can imagine... Negodu nonsense Biko.

The custom guys opened the device sef, unsealed my shii and then resealed it back when they were satisfied before shipping it down to my state for pick up + bills... Chai

Obviously the personnel was sharp to feel probably it's of valuable content cause it's just too big to be a pickle you for $9 (that's my thought sha, cause it's obvious). That was when it recalled to me of the other products that landed the PO today and was correctly tagged, had no issues. I went back to review my previously bought phones that their packages was still available, 'CELLPHONE for $36.95' & 'ANDROID SMARTPHONE for $45), and recall I told you I saw one that was customs free today that read 'MOBILE PHONE'.

obviously this is just my own view on this issue, and I feel it's reasonable to make my conclusion this way, you can correct me if I'm wrong sha, I'm open to more views, It's not gonna be fair paying such charges Walahi.

BTW my bill totalled #7k+

Hopefully my Note 5 AI won't have the same issh, it's been shipped out already, so I can't message seller to make any changes, I'll just wait till it lands and I'll try to update here on the thread how it goes.

Las las I have my device at hand, thats what matters the most.
Sorry.
Lesson learnt the bitter way. All the same. It's a 50:50 gamble. Business involves risk taking.
