And did Fashola just say that that Nigeria's birthday is October 1st 1960? Like seriously?
PoliticsRe: Fashola Condemns Nigeria’s Centenary Celebration Plan by Afam4eva(m): 11:10pm On Oct 01, 2013
Between the day you married your husband and the day your wicked mother inlaw gave your marriage independence, which one will you celebrate.

PoliticsRe: Fashola Condemns Nigeria’s Centenary Celebration Plan by Afam4eva(m): 10:55pm On Oct 01, 2013
I think this is ignorant coming Fashola. So, because people did not roll out drums to celebrate in 1914 does not distort the fact that, that was when Nigeria became one country and it's even a more important date than October 1 1960 because we're talking about the country here and when it was formed. But as far as the celebration is concerned, i think it's a waste of resources.

dayokanu: That City match would be tough especially with all our injury concerns

Martinez, Gotze, Kirchoff and Thiago missing

I would take a draw at this point
That would be a very good result for Man City. I hope Bayern wins though.

ketoprofen: dats wat i mean by govt infrastructure. Aside which, *smh*
Can you remove the government infrastructure from a city? And which government are talking about here? The FG, regional or state? JUst accept that Ibadan is ahead of Nnewi and move. We mustn't argue over everything.
TravelRe: Few Pics Of Nnewi by Afam4eva(m): 2:56pm On Oct 01, 2013
ketoprofen: what are u saying?
Dont associate ibadan, sea of red zincs, with those other cities u mentioned above .
Ibadan can only be beta dan nnewi by roads and govt infrastructure, full stop.
You're very wrong. of course Ibadan has buildings with red zinc but it also has normal houses like you see in Lagos. It's a very big city and one of the most important in NIgeria. We only talk about the city in negative light cos we believe it deserves more than it's getting. You can't can't compare Nnewi with a city that has a major university, TV stations, 2 stadiums and other i infrastructure that complete cities are known for. Ibadan is a complete city but Nnewi isn't just yet. It;s still growing though has huge potentials.

waxdude: And i noticed dt same cast are always in same movies of certain producers movie lik dt of emem isong, nd i'm like is it that dey hv to do anoda movie b4 dem pay dem money complete undecided
Emem Isong's movies always star Desmond Elliot, Ikpe Etim etc. It's not only in Nollywood that it happens though. It's evident in Hollywood and Bollywood. As far as the Actor plays their part well, you can star them in all your movies.
TV/MoviesRe: TV/Movies Chat Room - "THE CINEMA GUEST LOUNGE" by Afam4eva(m): 2:39pm On Oct 01, 2013
speedyboi: Teco Benson was what you termed 'Action' in the old Nollywood and it used to be like the typical Old Nollywood action film then (Jump here and there, dumb gunshots, crappy VFX etc urgggh). And when he upgraded himself to quality, the first and only flick he has done is 'Two Brides and A baby' which is a drama.

Please mention examples of the action films Izu has done. His latest '76' is not even an action film! And I can't remember any mindblowing Action film he has done!

Jeta is a new and young filmmaker. Which other known film has he done before? Only Amazing Grace....
Yet you term him an action film maker?

Have you watched Izu Ojukwu's Across the NIger, Moving Train, Eleventh hour, Iva and more more action movies that he has done.
Nairaland GeneralRe: !!!!!!!!Blatant Moderator Bias Alert!!!!!!!!!!!! by Afam4eva(m): 2:29pm On Oct 01, 2013
It has been moved. I hope you're happy now...

But be aware that some threads cut across sections and can be left in any of the sections. The only reason i moved that particular thread to the TRAVEL section is because it's just meant to showcase the town( or at least the development was talked about to a lesser extent) and not necessarily talk about the development of the thread unlike the Enugu thread.

Peace!!!

speedyboi: Abeg stop Mentioning Teco Benson angry angry angry. For where? undecided.

Izu Ojukwu is not 'action' filmmaker btw.

If anyone deserves the title of 'action' filmmaker, it should be JETA AMATA.

Has anyone watched here BLACK NOVEMBER?
JETA AMATA, action movie? Apart from Black November, which other action movies has he done?

Most Izu Ojukwu's movie that i have watched are Action movies, same for Teco except for one new one like that.

The January 27 Ikeja bomb blast

I have never seen people that scared in my life. Men were running, women were running with their children on their backs. People were begging car owners to pls save them and they will serve them forever. There was total chaos. That's when i knew Nigerians were all talk and no action. I laugh when i see people talk about war. They think war is "Fuel subsidy protest". By the time on bombs goes up, people will go on pilgrimage to Cotonou.

sholay2011: I would give that title to Teco Benson. Though, Izu is the better director/filmmaker.
I actually thought of Teco benson but there's something about Izu Ojukwu's movies that set them apart. Though Teco Benson used to and probably still is the face of "Nollywood Action movies".

speedyboi: Raise which bar? How? Those guys are not professionals to start with! They just get behind the camera for the sake of making money and churn out crappy stuffs. They should close them down....The ones that are really interested in the art of filmmaking will go acquire the necessary skills and come back to the mainstream.
I'm referring to the movie censors board. If they raise the bar then those traders will not have their movies approved in the first place.

speedyboi: grin grin grin grin...Oya sorry! smiley smiley smiley

lemme advise you, don't ever watch any movie from Rukky Sanda, Desmond Elliot, Emem Isong, Uche Jombo.....except you like the typical Old Nollywood Movies (the only thing different about these guys is their picture quality! Everything else, same ni!).
You got that right. Mind you, these are the movies that are usually classified as "New Nollywood" movies and the only diffference is the picture quality and the Americanization of the movies. Those movies are similar to African American movies. I don't rate them highly.

shymexx: Young blood, INNO18, is that really the Nnewi we hear about on NL? shocked That place doesn't look better than Ibadan, yet Ibadan gets cursed out all the time smh. Some might even argue that Ibadan, with its brown roofs, actually looks a bit more decent than Nnewi.

Damn!! Nigerians are pathetic! undecided
Mr, people can compare Nnewi to Ibadan in a particular capacity but not as a city in whole. Ibadan is one of the most important cities in Nigeria and Nnewi isn't. NNewi is only mentioned in the capacity as a commercial and most importantly, an Automobile town/city. Nnewi still has a long way to go to be able to compete with the likes of Ibadan, Enugu, PH, Jos etc. It's a town that's growiing in infrastructure.
