wesley80: Sawawa Reporters abi? One thing I've learnt from these guys is they either "get" the big scoop or they "cook" the big scoop. Right now I can't tell if they've got it or they're just cooking as usual so I go pass dey go jeje.Guy! The Governor has been away for like four months, what the Bleep do you think he's doing, if not lying in a hospital somewhere?? Unless the "cabal" has kidnapped him |
engineerd: No! There are several other reasons to replace someone who is a brilliant performer! Company could be changing strategy, in which case you become redundant ...my gosh...there are a lot of reasons out there! I don't have time jor! LOLI get your point, but in this case I believe it's political |
engineerd: Performance is not a NECESSARY condition for dissolving ones cabinet....Oh really? You just dissolve a cabinet, throwing all the ministries into disarray (remember this is the civil service, not KPMG) select new ones to replace the old ones who have to pass SSS security screening and House of Assembly screening with pressure from the party and other busy bodies.......... All this for what if not for poor performance, i.e. they are slowing down your agenda and have to go. |
engineerd: LOL...A counter point to an arrant nonsensical statement? How is dissolving a cabinet that has performed well a contradiction? So in other words when you get laid off from your work automatically means you have not performed well? Performance is not a NECESSARY condition for dissolving ones cabinet....Simple as that! A lot of people type first then think later! When you get laid off from work it's because the company is retrenching, your job is not going to be filled by a new hire. But by your reasoning, a company will tell a worker "you have performed brilliantly but we're firing you and replacing you with someone else who we hope will perform just as brilliantly" ![]() |
afam4eva: There are contradictions in his statement. If the cabinet have performed well then why dissolve them?Exactly! Me thinks Mr Governor is flexing his muscles and letting the Lion of Bordillon know who's boss..... at least in Ekiti. |
GENOCIDE is an extremely weighty allegation to throw against someone. If Abati-GEJ-Govt is saying Obj committed genocide, shouldn't they at least question him for it? Erm SSS anybody? I bet you Abati will eat his words!! #quotedoutofcontext |
dayokanu: OBJ is irrelevant in the SW. Tinubu is the SW powerbroker,Exactly! ACN has shut down SW so Obj better go and concentrate on National politics. I believe Ahmadu Ali was his candidate so he still does have some power mostly due to the return on investment, I.e. while you're in office you dole out a lot of political patronage, when you leave you expect to collect on the return. A favour for a favour. |
BUHARI FOR 2015! (if he decides to run)
I don't believe he's ready for a democratic setting, I also think he is only a disciplinarian. I followed him closely in the last election campaign and he really didn't stand out. His plans and policies could not be differentiated from others. People tend to choose based on personality. We need someone with good ideas and who understands the economy and will base his policies on bettering it. What is Buhari or Johnathan or IBB or Ribadu's view on tax policy? Who is on the left and who is on the right? Can any of them give us their roadmap to making Nigeria the biggest economy in Africa! Let Buhari be Honorary Minister of Anti-Corruption, that's the area where he will shine, but its time we got a leader who understands our country and is ready, willing and able to change it. Before you even announce you're running, I expect you to have done an Economics refresher course at LBS, gone round the six zones to do field work and collected raw data on the needs of the people. He/she should then spend a good few months with his policy think tank and come up with a manifesto, or plan on what he and his team plan to do for the next four years. His campaign should be him marketing this manifesto and being questioned and challenged over it. We the vote on who we think has the best plan as well as other things such as character, experience etc |
There are 2 debts: 1- FG/Ministry of Petroleum owe Nigerian fuel importers (marketers) for cargos as far back as Q1 2012. As the marketers had not been importing since Q1 2012, the FG felt that with the holiday surge in demand, for NNPC to handle it alone may be a disaster. N161bn was budgeted to pay off the debt to marketers for 2012. This is yet to be paid, however the Ministry of Finance has issued Sovereign Debt Notes to the marketers they have been cleared for payment. 2- NNPC import between 50-100% of the PMS that comes into the country at any given time. They buy from international fuel traders (Glencore, Mercuria, Trafigura, Vitol, BP etc) and currently owe them billions of dollars for fuel delivered. These guys are still willing to do biz with NNPC because of the crude oil allocations they get (Naija light crude is highly sought after). The problem is this: if NNPC continue to default on such huge amounts of debt, it will affect the country's rating, meaning the Fed and State governments will face higher debt servicing costs. Remember that the international community see NNPC and the Nigerian Government as one in the same. |

@OP So Dangote is worth around $13bn? Lets look at some of our politicians: IBB - the World Bank estimates that approximately $20 billion was stolen from the Nigeria by his regime. With time and spending on politics and expensive lifestyle, his portion of the $20bn must have reduced. This will be countered by return on investments in biz (glo?) and politics (contracts etc). Abacha - estimated to have stolen $4bn Abdulsalam - rumored to have stolen more than Abacha, however he hides it well. Obasanjo - I believe he is the current richest man in Nigeria. During his time, oil was selling at the highest it had in its history. The kind of oil money Obj, Yar'adua and GEJ have seen, IBB and Abacha could only dream of. During Obj's first term, Atiku chopped heavily and it was when he went to prostrate to Atiku that he really understood that money/patronage is needed for political followership. It is during this second term, with the help of Andy Uba that he took a piece of absolutely everything. We're talking of budgets of over N2-N3 trillion, hundreds of billions of contracts awarded, oil blocks worth hundreds of billions of dollars being given away, Halliburton, Siemens etc, privatization of National assets, Transcorp, Presidential Library and of course $16bn spent on power and the list goes on....... Others - Cecilia Ibru forfeited $1bn in assets, is that up to 10% of what she stole? Anenih misappropriated $2.5bn in a space of what, a year? We're told that between $6.4 to $12.8 was stolen in one year in the name of subsidy, what about the pension thieves? It is rumored Jerremiah Useni has about 100 houses in Victoria Island and Ikoyi. Dont forget, during the time Yar'Adua was in Saudi Arabia, Taminu and Aba Ruma were alleged to have chopped N70bn security vote for a period of months. And we haven't even got to GEJ, Diezani and the rest, although I'd say Diezani could well be the richest woman in the world at the moment The scary thing is the way these people can amass so much wealth so quickly. Dangote may make a profit of $1bn in a good year after a lot of hard work but the Minister of Petroleum can make $1bn in the space of a few months just by changing a few clauses in the PIB in favour of the IOC's or by selling an oil block and chopping the signature bonus. The Governor of Lagos or the Minister of the FCT can become dollar billionaires overnight by allocating land to themselves. So in conclusion, you just can't compare business people to Nigerian Politicians. |
DJTee: I seriously doubt any of our politicians will aspire to match Dangotes wealth - one way straight ticket to jail. There is some persisting myth surrounding Asiwajus wealth but I doubt he's interested in surpassing Dangote..It's a race to amass as much wealth as possible. To win elections and hold on to power through yourself or your proxy, you need money, to pay off EFCC and police, you need money. To win sympathy and any assistance from traditional rulers, labour leaders etc, you need money. To fight your political opponents, you need money. If you are the REAL richest Nigerian, then you have the capacity to control the political space and from there the country. Not that it is automatic, because Dangote may not necessarily be able to win even his Local Government in an election. But if someone like Tinubu continues to amass wealth through the SW states and Lagos, soon you will see his influence increase across states where PDP is having trouble. So to answer your question, politicians want to amass as much wealth as possible, even if it means becoming richer than Dangote. |
@OP It's ok for he police to state the ransom as they caught most of the kidnappers. When a bank is robbed or a fraud is committed, the police/efcc state the amount that was stolen, even if it may serve as encouragement to some criminally minded people. |
Bolt2011:Easy come easy go! If he comes to Lagos for a weekend he can easily blow that N3m. Then it's on to the next job, no pension, no retirement plan. It's either death or prison |
The celebrating victims have just finished their final exams Celebrants take no offence at the bizarre treatment, they endure it because they are overjoyed with graduating How do they know they've passed? So if h failed your finals and had to repeat, you'd go through this twice ![]() |
Dr Adesina is quite simply a good guy with good ideas getting consumed by the "cabal", as it's obvious they want to use his Ministry as an avenue to loot funds. The guy's saying there's no way Govt will spend N60bn on #fones4farmers, while Reno is already defending it ![]() If he's a good man, he'll resign and they'll put someone like OGD or Oyinlola to replace him. Otherwise, he'll turn around to say that #fones4farmers is vital to the "agricultural revolution of Nigeria", then supplementary budget. 10,000,000 farmers x 6,000 per phone = N60bn 1,000,000 farmers x 3,000 per phone = N3bn + N57bn (2015) = N60bn |
seanet01: You are wrong. We ACN caucus already knows the next Governor of Lagos state.Good choice, I believe he'd be his own man which is what Lagos needs. If ACN field Remi Tinubu, they will be handing PDP victory in Lagos! |
With all the hundreds of billions the south south has received over the years (Federal Allocation, IGR, 13% Derrivation, NDDC, Ministry of Niger Delta, Amnesty Fund etc), they still can't fix the East West road or second Niger Bridge? Give south south an extra 200% and see the kind of house Orubebe wil the build. Until you have accountable Govenance, keep arguing about how much the ND gets and see what you will benefit from it. These people are fighting for their own pockets. The money is either going to The Fed account, or to the National Assembly or to Amnesty etc. Me a Northern Senator want the ND to get less so that there's more for his state Governor and the NASS. Me a South South senator want ND to get more as I have some influence over NDDC and Ministry of ND, more money for them means more chopping for me. Get it? |
manny4life: Bad boy...Wear speedos under your trucks. It'll prevent any unsightly...... ![]() |
If he died in a car crash, would the guests be uncomfortable being driven to the burial?? Or is it that people know that or maintenance culture is so shoddy! Azazi's townspeople are fighting to have the burial in his town because they know what they stand to gain. Will the presido not come, with all the top government people? Will they not come and pay respects to the traditional rulers and drop something? Don't forgt last minute tidying up: new transformer, Dickson can mobilize that contractor who built a church for GEJ to do a couple of roads, even a bridge. But if the burial is in Yenegoa, none of the above will happen |
I'd go with Chris Ngige as he may turn out to be another oshiomole. Ngige and GEJ had the same opportunity, i.e. a huge amount of public support behind them. For GEJ it was perceived victimization from the Yar'adua cabal and for Ngige it was the OBJ/uba saga. Ngige played off that public support and we heard that he did a huge amount of roads which is why he seems to be loved by the people. Whoever it is better be ready to take on the shenanigans of the PDP, who will most likely rehash the same ol gang, Nnamdi Uba and Charles Soludo. So forget Dora, who couldn't even win a senatorial seat when her party was the incumbent at the state level. But if the state is to go for another businessman after Obi, how about Cosmas Maduka? |
caseless: for weye? U failed. The number no even near sef........he types as he runs to the nearest ATM to change password ![]() |
I don't even have a bank account, talk less of a PIN number, feel free to hack that ![]() |
Erm.... How are you gonna prove the senator is drunk, or over the blood alcohol limit, when we don't have field or station sobriety kits In fact, what is the legal limit that someone can drink and still be allowed to drive In fact, is it even illegal to drink and drive in Nigeria![]() Any lawyers in the house?? |
shymexx: Godfatherism is the bane of politics and democracy - and they're also like siamese twins because you can't separate one from the other...Really? But do Obama, Cameron, Merkel etc have Godfathers? I can't imagine Clinton telling Obama who to put in his cabinet. However I do concede that George Bush Snr was George Bush Jr's Godfather. Until they remove Tinubu from ACN, the party has no chance. Why not make Utomi party Chairman and give the party a more national and less regional character |

Rossikk: Fantastic news. INNOSON Motors can easily meet all their vehicular demand. Great stuff.I'm sorry but I must say this: Our institution bought three staff buses from Innoson Motors at the beginning of the year so as to promote made in Nigeria goods. With all honesty, I tell you that those buses have had one problem or the other. On the second day of usage, one of them developed clutch problem. At least one bus develops fault every two weeks. But trust our ogas, they won't buy Innosen as their official vehicles, it's land cruisers, prados and GL's all the way! But at least peugeot is still ok, let them be patronising them or stop buying cars! Give them a car allowance that will allow them to lease or buy one car every six years. In our place its every three years they change their cars |
I am sorry, but Nigerians don't give a fhuck... You and the rest of these Politicians have really frustrated our spirits.. We no see again
True talk! |
iamtheprincipal: Personally, I'm of the oppinion that a device was planted in the craft before it airlifted Gov. Yakowa, Gen. Azazi, et al for Portharcourt. I hope the investigation team undertaking this task would not fail to uncover the reason(s) behind this dastardly act. There's no way we'll get to the bottom of this, because if a bomb was planted (my opinion too), it would have been a conspiracy of the highest order. If some powerful Northerners were behind it, can Johnathan openly confront them?? When he can't confront the backers of BH?? There's too much circumstantial evidence pointing towards an assassination, however a cover-up seems imminent |
