Ignore tribalists! All it takes is for one comment insulting the tribe of someone in the article and that's it!!! We can go back and forth for infinity about which tribe is better or which tribe is a waste. What's the point Back to the article, Rochas should have never punched the officer, its unbecoming of a Governor. But the bomb disposal cop pushed a Governor??!! And he still has his job? The whole thing could have been settled peacfully but trust ego's of big men and police |
Mike Tyson and Nelson Mandela also came to vote for Mimiko, check the voters list, their names are there! Nas is Nasir Jones, his father Olu Dara is Nigerian. dagr8: He came to vote 4 Mimiko nd he is frm ogun state, do u know wat u are saying? |
Armed robbers are fair game for the police, so it's quite plausible that the officers were told the boys were armed robbers caught in the act. So unless there was a chance for some real "egunje" they might have allowed it to happen and even encourage it. At least with this address by the IG and the release of the supsects names,it seems that justice may be done. Let's hope so.... IG, it's up to you Ajillo: How many times have the police taken armed robbers to court for prosecution. The police either kill them on the scene or take them to their barracks and kill them there. So how could such police force prevent a mob from killing supposed armed robbers. What I believe happened is that the police urged the mob to kill the boys as they usually do themselves. |
I don't know why but this Government insists on lying and covering up even when it is not necessary! If they had come out to say the First Lady is suffering from ........ and has been flown abroad for treatment, people would have some empathy and Sahara Reporters would have nothing juicy to report about. However, the woman has been away for over a month "getting some rest"?? Our Government think we are fools and spin us ridiculous lies, that is why people are speculating and a lack of empathy exists. Government must start being honest with us and stop the lies. This is the IT age, they can't hide things like they used to, word gets out, and while they can shut down Nigerian newspapers and TV stations, they can not shut down online investigative journalists. So Sahara Reporters may be reporting mere speculation and rumour, but when the Presidency says she's gone to relax for over a month, that she missed the UN General Assembly because she's relaxing, who am I supposed to believe?? |
They are going to toll the heck out of this road! They've already built the toll booths at the Lekki side of the bridge. Is the tax + federal allocation fashola's collecting not enough to provide roads and bridges? If not, can the state govt not borrow to fund projects like this? I'm willing to bet that the capital cost of the bridge + interest on funds borrowed to construct it can be taken care of from the state's recurrent expenditure. Don't get me wrong, fashola is a good governor but I think that because are expectations are so low that someone who does the bare minimum is hailed ![]() |
AND OUR GOVERNMENT ALLOWS THIS TO HAPPEN!!! ![]() In Abuja they'll all be clinking their glasses after spending billions on anniversary celebrations, while families all over the country are left only with what NEMA has to offer. Any geologists or meteorologists or whatever out there, are there ways to predict or prevent these floods? |
I think its a good idea, but I'd say we should focus on car customisation or something. We don't have a large enough car brand appreciation culture to have a US or Japanese or VW car day. So that enough people show up, we should keep it open for anyone with a cool car and anyone who appreciates such |
Great news, if we keep this up we will soon be on par with Hollywood ![]() @bonysmile - be careful o! If u finish that sentence its a ban for you SimonAndal: Sarah Wayne Callies.....isn't she Dr. Tancredi from Prison Break? ![]() |
billante: Nairaland and their monkey attitude! Make una dey there dey doubt, while ur fellow young entrepreneurs will be buying into d company...that's how una doubted the youwin program and at d end of d day so many of ur fellow nairalanders with no Godfather got d grants.A company can allocate all or part of their offering to potential investors chosen by them. The bill says NNPC will sell 30% to Nigerians, that may be three Nigerians or three hundred. It is at NNPC's discretion. You can not call people stupid for being skeptical, we were told of a N2 trillion fraud last year that primarily involves NNPC. Do you think there is suddenly going to be transparency? ![]() |
Aikayy: That's great! I just hope the IPO is made public, cos I wld love to buy some!Really? You want to invest in one of the most corrupt corporations in Nigeria?? All that debt and reckless spending ![]() I think they will sell the 30% to themselves, get some Board appointments and continue with the "chop chop" ![]() |
"Section 3 ( 2 ) a and Section 38 ( 1 ) ( b ), 2 and 3, Section 315 of the investment and Security Act, 2007 stipulates that anyone that will be appointed as the DG of SEC must possess up to 15 years experience in the Nigerian Capital Market, a requirement the lawmakers said Ms Oteh does not possess." Its simple, if she has does not have up to 15 years experience in the Nigerian Capital Market, she must go! |

Otedollars should respect the House Committee and answer their questions. He shouldn't be dictating how they have their session. If police, EFCC or SS invite you, will you say you won't answer their questions unless its televised. Facrook's wasn't televised so same should go for Otedollars. Anyway, he should have just taken his camera pen with him and released the recording to channels tv afterwards But i don't trust those Reps, they really are hungry people ![]() |
FXKing2012: So he is only doing it for selfish purpose, not really for justice. Then who is committing the bigger crime? Is it not the lawyer?Slapping a child (child abuse) and corporal punishment are crimes in Nigeria. Assaulting someone by slapping them is a criminal offence. Just because lots of people do it does not make it right. "Everybody does it" is no defence either. If a police man kills an innocent citizen and says but police kill people all the time, does that mean he should not be prosecuted? Should Farcrook be let off the hook because lots of lawmakers take bribes? I try not to pass judgement on others, most especially a man of God, so I have no comment on what Bishop Oyedepo did. All I know is that we have laws that we should all abide by. That is what Jesus taught us along with teachings of love for others and peace to your fellow man. |
etchel: The topic should have been. Lies white men tell their girlf/wives. This isnt for a naija dude.Very true! #9 - It wasn't that expensive?? Naija dude will inflate the price so as to look like a big boy! #3 - You better tell her that her bum DOES look big in that! |
Lets be careful here, our police routinely arrest, detain and prosecute innocent Nigerians. Many are even killed and labelled armed robbers. If there is no evidence, you have to let them free. Our security forces need to wake up and stop being lazy! You can't just round up a bunch of people and say they are BH, while the real BH continue to wreak havoc! |
I doubt there is a country where the secret service SSS holds a press conference to update the public on an ongoing case. The only logical reason they must have allowed Farouk leave with the money, will be to investigate how widespread the problem is. The marked money should at least lead them to other individuals involved.
In recent years, the SSS have been quite vocal and have been updating us on their ongoing cases. I'm sure you've heard of Marilyn Ogar? And the State Security Service (SSS) is not a "secret service", they are not a clandestine agency like the CIA or MI6. Allowing Facrook to leave with the money to see how widespread the problem is does not hold water, because they are saying goodbye to public funds (the $620k) and jeopardizing what would have been a water tight case against him. It seems to me that the SSS had nothing to do with the "sting operation". If they did give the money to Otedollar in order to catch Facrook, it seems they only did so to out him in public so as to rubbish the subsidy report. |
Like others before me have said, if it was a sting operation and the dollars were marked or their serial number noted, he should have been arrested immediately he left Otedollar's residence. The whole idea of marking/recording the serial numbers is to catch the criminal with the said notes. If you leave him to disappear and you don't find the marked dollars, you have no proof that he left Otedollar's residence with it. You have proof that he took dollars and put them in his pocket, but he could turn around and say that he gave it back before he left the residence, or that he dropped it at the gate house. Sounds ridiculous, but how can you prove he left the house with it. On the part of the SSS, they have not made any public statement regarding the "sting operation" and have not made any effort to arrest the target of the operation, even after he took the bait. Surely the whole point of a sting operation, one where you end up losing N96 million of public funds, is to arrest and prosecute a criminal! Mr. Ita Ekpeyong, you basically gave N96 million of public funds to a lawmaker. Can we have it back please? |
We have to be careful here as the House Probe Report is IMO the most serious probe report that has been released in Nigeria's history. We're talking of allegations of fraud of over N1 trillion. Tanbuwal needs to investigate this and demand a copy of the video and if Farouk Lawan collected that bribe, he should be prosecuted immediately. But then that will be the end of the probe because thats all GEJ needs to throw it out. A possible scenario however: 1- SSS claims to have videos of Lawan collecting bribes from Otedola. 2- Otedola corroborates this to the media and general public. 3- EFCC invite him for a couple of days to discuss the allegations. 4- Lawan is charged to court. 5- Fed Govt say they can not act on a report in which the Chairman is accused of soliciting for and collecting a bribe from one of the subjects in the report. 6- After many adjournments and delays, Lawan's case is discharged for lack of evidence one year later. 7- No video tape is ever released and there is no proof that a video ever existed. Disclaimer: I am not saying that Farouk Lawan is innocent or guilty, let me see the video before I judge! |

Dana Air MD-83 was a disaster in the making. Unloaded by a U.S.-based company, Alaska Airlines, the plane had seen numerous service failures since its manufacture in 1990 Problems with the MD-83 in Alaska: On November 4, 2002 the aircraft - then owned by US-based Alaska Airlines - developed faults and had to make an emergency diversion due to smoke in the cabin area.. On August 20, 2006, it was again evacuated after landing at the Long Beach, CA again due to smoke in the cabin area. During the post event airplane inspection, maintenance personnel found the wire bundle damaged in the mid-cargo pit ceiling at station 750 due to chafing and subsequent arcing of the Over Wing Heater Blanket system. They also found that wires in some bundles were damaged to the point of disconnection/separation, while other wire bundles sustained thermal melting to their outer insulation jacket. Concerned about potential risks to its air worthiness, Alaska Airlines parked the aircraft until Sept. 11 2008 to carry out maintenance on the plane. On February 2009 Alaska Airlines shifted the burden to Nigeria when it sold the ill-fated plane. Problems with the Dana MD-83 in Nigeria: On May 3 2012, a Lagos station manager said the aircraft needed to be grounded for a check-up but that alarm was ignored. On May 11, 2012, the same Lag/Abj aircraft had an air return and emergency landing at the MM2 airport. Passengers disembarked On May 25, 2012, the same plane abandoned its La/Calabar flight, making another air return. Engine failure was reported. No casualties On June 3, while on a final approach to the runway, the aircraft rammed into a power line, crashed into a built-up area about 5-6 nautical miles from touch down. It burst into flames, killing all 153 passengers on board and 30 on ground. SOURCE: http://saharareporters.com/news-page/dana-air-troubled-airline-checkered-history-failures |

Beaf: Daft people.Lukman resigned as Minister of Petroleum in February 2010. Diezani Allison-Madueke (DAM) was appointed Minister of Petroleum in April 2010. According to the House of Reps report: 1- Subsidy payments for 2009 was N788 billion, for 2010 was N1.2 trillion and for 2011 was N2.6 trillion and counting. 2- DAM recommended N246 billion as subsidy payment for 2011, this figure was exceeded by 900% which is in clear breach of Section 162 of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution (Amended). Shenever raised the alarm over this breach while it was going on. 3- The number of importers increased from 49 in 2009 to 140 in 2011. With the above three points, DAM has the biggest and most pressing case to answer. Now before you call me a Niger Delta hater or a North apologist (which I am neither), let me state that I believe Rilwan Lukman also has a case to answer. It is just that we have a N1.7 trillion fraud (according to the House of Reps) to deal with first. When we have dealt with the N1.7 trillion, we can move on to other past Ministers of Petroleum (Lukman, Obasanjo, Etete etc) |
PointB: That said, the ultimate solution to these and numerous problems plaguing this country is well known - split the damn country. Every and any other proposal is balderbash. Give me my Biafra, give them Odua republic, and Arewa Republic, and let the owners of the resources manage their resources.Biafra - will have the Igbo's fighting the Ijaws, Urhobos, Ikwere's etc. With GEJ, Odili, Uduagan and co. as leaders. Odua - we may all be the same tribe, but politics will be localised with each state fighting to share political office. With Tinubu, Obj, OGD etc as leaders. Arewa - Somalia? Whether Nigeria breaks up or not, people power must be the highest authority (free and fair elections etc) otherwise your separate countries will continue to have the same problems as present day Nigeria. |
Johndoe100: For the last 2 weeks ALL the ministers have been spending at least 2 hours each on tv showcasing what they have achieved. Why have you not watched any? If you really wanted to know, you should have watched.Only in Nigeria will govt Ministers spend the taxpayers' money on buying TV slots to showcase what they have done Really, if there is real change, you wont have to spend hours on TV!Like the OP requested, list the accomplishments...... |
Truth is GEJ will most likely go for a second term and if he does, power of incumbency means that the Igbo's will have no chance. PDP is the strongest party, tell me which PDP (Igbo) governor will go against the president in their presidential primaries? In the last election, the North were saying its still their turn, but looked what happened in the primaries. If we're talking about the opposition, sure ACN and ANPP may choose an Igbo presidential candidate, but no opposition party has come close in any previous election. By 2019, after 9 years of SS presidency, GEJ will hand over to the North, probably out of fear ![]() If the Igbo want the presidency, let them come out to rouse the people and ensure that we have free and fair elections, and not by begging GEJ or party leaders to let them have their turn. |
