Foundation depth and width is determined by the structural Engineer with consideration to the type of building, number of floors, intended usage , terrain and sub soil type. So it will be wrong for any one to say there is a standard foundation depth.

These information should be in your structural drawings.

Blinding is 50mm thick.

joycluv:
To our building experts in the house, please what is the standard foundation depth, width and concrete blinding thickness for a storey building?
Thanks

Royal tiles avg price from #5,000per sqm for the 60x60 tiles plain matt.

rukyboy:
Do you have an average realistic price one can expect to pay for a carton or per sqm.

Mid range quality tiles. Not too basic.

Smtn to be used for a rental property

You can add 3.5mx 2.25m x 3m deep septic/soakaway pit.

MrOkenwa:
Thank you for your response ma.
What size of septic tank do you suggest that I add to the existing one?
I don't have much space but I can still create space for a smaller size with more depth.
Yes, the hole is meant to serve till the landlords in the community are ready to join hands together to construct a channel for our waste water. Thank you.
PropertiesRe: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Aforxzy(f): 8:37am On Aug 19, 2022
The size of your septic/ soak away pit is rather small for the number of occupants/ users. I suggest you do an additional one if you have space for it otherwise there would be frequent need to dislodge the waste.
Adding a soak away to your septic tank is done to save cost and space, it should however be big enough to do both works.

Also, the hole you are digging for the bath and kitchen wastes is very okay. It's serves as a sump pit until you can construct a channel to drain you waste water away.

MrOkenwa:
I have a rental build that's expected to accommodate between 32 to 40 people. so, we did 14x6x10ft septic with soak away of 6x6x6ft. Both will take care of the poop. We are digging a hole of about 15 rings depth for the water coming from the kitchens and bathrooms.
I don't know if you have a better suggestion. Thank you.

A cartoon of 60x60 tiles is 1.44sqm. So for your 90sqm building you will need 62.5cartoons. But you need to add extras for tiles that might breaking during handling.

The price varies depending on the type of tiles you want to buy.

Mophor:
Good day house
Please how many cartons of 60x60 Tiles would be used for a 90sqm building and how much does a carton costhuh
Thanks in anticipation

I think it's wrong to quote a section of the code of conduct that you were not given.
A query is not a punishment. It's an inquiry that must be attended to within a specific period.
Reply the query and request for the handbook or copy of the company's code of conduct to guide you while working in the company.

Were the cube samples gotten from the concrete mix or you prepared a different one for the cubes?

The results shows that the strength is poor and I believe the consultant is worried because of the number of floors the building will be supporting. We don't want any building to collapse. However the ND test is a confimatory test that there is a discrepancy between the cube result and the columns tested.

I'll suggest you talk to him cos you have done the necessary confirmatory testing and their result are satisfactory to recommend any other test that he is okay with before you all conclude on what next.

I would advice you have someone stationed to the mixer during casting to enforce the correct mix ratio and prevent this kind of issue. Also let the structural engineer or representative be available during your casting so he can witness the mix ratio.

Kambols95:
Good evening house.
Pls, I need a professional advice pertaining to a proposed building (5 storey structure) situated in the mainlands. We just mounted the ground floor columns( 37 in number). Unfortunately, the columns didn't pass the cube test results for 28 days, we got average of 16N/mm² for a grade 25 Concrete.

The Structural Engineer( Consultant) on the project insisted we should run an NDT to ascertain the integrity of the columns. The NDT test done were Ultrasonic and Schmidt hammer rebound tests.

The results for the 2 tests was satisfactory though it was done after the 28 days curing period.

To my surprise, the Consultant structural engineer gave an instruction that the columns should be demolished even when the NDT shows a satisfactory result.

As a contractor, I need advice on what else can be done to be able to further prove my points about the integrity of the Columns as demolition is not the right thing to do at the moment.

Thanks as I welcome a very professional opinion on this matter.

Use ratio 1:2:3 for the concrete floor with 125-150mm thickness for medium to high vechicular loads.

debeey87:
For concrete floors or stamped concrete, what's the correct mix ratio for a residential building(rental) and what thickness is recommended.

Appreciate all suggestions.

My neighbor's kids were playing football while I was outsde reading a magazine. One of them kicked the ball and it almost hit me , I shouted " Jesus".

The youngest amongst them came to me and said. "aunty, it's Daniel that kicked that ball not Jesus."

I told him "good to know"

I saw this poorly constructed staircase with a waist of about 2 inches.

The waist of a reinforced concrete staircase is very important cos the steps (risers and threads) rest on it. The thickness should be sufficient enough to carry the weight on it. Most times we assume a thickness of 6 inches or more depending on the span of the flight.

This particular staircase will most likely fail when the props are removed.

Why do people stay in government jobs for 35 years
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Over Staying In A Company by Aforxzy(f):
They both have their pros and cons but it depends on the individual and the type of company you are working with.

If you are not redundant in a company then stay if you are okay with the policy, career growth and salary.

If you are the type that gets bored working at the same company for long period , then move on to the next . Most employers love to employ such cos you have vast exposure and experience which might be beneficial to them but the disadvantage is that your next employer will be sceptical about investing in you cos you might leave, the moment you get a better offer while the one who stays put will be limited in exposure and development.

So do what works well for you and pays your bill..

Personally, I love to move to new roles, territories and challenges if possible.
