this is what busquets, xavi & iniesta do week in week out. they only make safe passes. if they are not certain of the pass, they go backwards & try again. the key is to retain possession instead of forcing the issue & trying a hopeless hollywood passes.

except that these same players make the killer pass later in the sequence of passes. they "recirculate" the ball until THEY SEE a good opening then they make the slide rule key pass. however in tomC's case when the ball is recirculated to him he just keeps n making the same safe passes all day, its either he can't see the opening or he lacks the ability to make the pass through the opening or he lacks the confidence.
for the sake of Man Utd i hope its just a matter of confidence

hahaha - by the same token, cleverley also had more forward passes than scholes - an issue you would have argued against if i didn't produce the stats.



carrick had 37% of his passes forward because of the virtue of his position. he plays slightly behind cleverley & he has fewer options behind him to pass to than cleverley. this is also the reason ferdinand & evans also have low % of backward passing.



cleverley plays in a different system......barca play 4-3-3, united play 4-2-3-1. the passing options in both systems vary slightly. there's also the small detail of the accuracy of their passing.

cleverley has more accuracy, 37% of carrick's passes going forward become ineffective with less accuracy - even though they go forward, they fail to achieve the aim intended cos of a higher inaccuracy than cleverley's.

edoyad: Hopeless twats. Like debosky pointed out, after our toughest week so far, we still top the premiership and our UCL group. Now we go on a two week international break which will hopefully be enough time for some injured ones to return. We also pray no one gets injured while on international duty.

Yes we lost at OT, but it was not surprising considering how much we've had to produce this week to overcome Liverpool and more importantly Dortmund. A bit more quality in the final third and we'd have gotten a point.

No matter, these things do happen - Arsenal losing on a weekend where Citeh, Chelski and Spurs drop points isn't the worst thing in the world.

Looking back on the 'week of death', 3 points in the league and 3 points in the CL is a good return.

I see the pent up frustration from wanting to play but being silenced continually needs to be released. Have fun.
