PDPGuy:Agba ki wa loja, ki ori omo titun o wo. It is left to the father figures in society to mentor and tutor the younger ones. |
BlueRayDick:Earning a high income for only a few years does not work out well for most people in life, especially athletes who are often ill-equipped and lacking in the education needed to manage retirement. Across all sports you see these issues cropping up. An article stated that 60% of NBA players go broke 5yrs after retirement and that figure goes up to 80% by the 10yr mark. I am not saying they should be calling out the government for support but that their situation is more about human nature than anything they did wrong. Regarding Rufai’s burial I think the government could have stepped in when it became obvious that the family was struggling. It is a one-off situation and Rufai is one of the most iconic players we have ever had and not an average Joe. I think it is the level of love and adulation which Rufai had at his prime, which Taribo must have witnessed as a young boy, that triggered his reaction. Also during Rufai’s time there was not much money in football like that to last 30 years after retirement. I remember there was a time Rufai struggled to get a club and he left football to be selling jewellery to make ends meet. |
PDPGuy:Kids of nowadays. What’s her OnlyFans, let me go and warn her vigorously. |
Leyqute:Thad good for him. He is a potential England No 1. The Donnarumma reports are quite surprising for a Pep team. |
Ellexy:The 2 CMs in Amorim’s system need a base level of physicality for it to work. You can’t play 2 midfielders against 3 midfielders and have 1 of your 2 midfielders having low work rate. The onus is on Mainoo to improve in that work rate aspect. We all noticed it when we were using 3 midfielders so one can only imagine how it can be when it’s only 2. Having said that, your summation on senseless tenacity is correct. |
Leyqute:This is mainly political talk. We are chasing a game and the manager had 5 changes to make and didn’t believe Mainoo should be one of them. He does not trust him in one of the 2 CM positions. He just can’t come out and say it. Only consistent poor performance from the preferred choices or Mainoo seriously lifting his game can enable him get regular game time, especially this season in which there won’t be much need to rest players. |
Ellexy:He has only really played 2 full seasons na so I don’t think you can say his growth has tinder over the past 2 seasons. He had an excellent season 2 seasons ago which culminated in him making his England debut and then cementing his place in the starting lineup. Last season he came back unfit from the Euros and then had a number of injuries during the season that wrecked it for him. His biggest problem though is that he is not a natural fit for this 3-4-3 with the 2 man midfield. At least not at EPL pace. Even Bruno is not a natural fit but is benefiting from “my captain must play” and Portuguese parapo. When Amorim first got here I stressed that some regular players would not fit the system while some fringe players might benefit. Mainoo has to improve on his stamina/work rate and passing range. I think he has it in him but he has to go get it. If Amorim has any sense sha Mainoo has to be the 1st name off the bench going forward and not Ugarte. |
Oasis007:Hehehe. Ok na. Na here we dey. |
Leyqute:Hehehe. |
GloriousGbola:With a father like that, Mohbad tried in this life. |
BlueRayDick:Exactly. How doing an autopsy became rocket science is what I don’t understand. Everybody involved in that circus was in it for dubious reasons. Most of them preferred the unending scandal and continued social media engagement rather than finding out the truth about what happened to the boy. When you consider the behaviour of even his family members after his death you will conclude that the boy was dealt a bad hand in life. |
Ellexy:Antony is not. It is only in EPL that you will readily find clubs that have such money to spend on a single winger. Unfortunately, he is an EPL flop so EPL clubs don’t want him. Clubs in continental Europe don’t have that kind of money outside Real, Bayern, PSG etc. Garnacho is the one that could have gotten us 50m easily but he messed us up by declaring he wanted only Chelsea. |
[quote author=Mrviktor post=136504509] . Exhibit A. He lacks the tactical discipline to play that role. Someone who does not understand football will blame Casemiro for tracking back slowly in the first place not realising that it was Bruno’s wandering that opened up the lacuna in the midfield. Another game, another time, Casemiro doesn’t catch up and we concede a shot or goal. Dalot and Casemiro immediately understood the assignment while Bruno didn’t. It’s not about ability as a footballer but suitability for a role. |
Englishisamust:You are whining yourself. Mentally and physically fragile keepers don’t improve in that area. Let him go and improve at another club. |
So many sinners on this thread. |
engrelvis:Unless you are kidding yourself, Yoro is ahead of Maz. |
izzou:The truth can be harsh. ![]() 90% of the Assanal fans on this thread have never seen Assanal win a league title. None of them has seen Assanal win the Champions League but all of them have big mouths like hippos. That is why this 3 points trophy they just won will go into their trophy cabinet. |
akwesenana:LOL allow them. Assanal fans coming to gloat over their first trophy of the season. The “We got the 3 points” trophy. Na their shameless way. The pikin wey dem born the last time Assanal win league title don dey born pikin. |
maik99:Yeah the 3 of them were really good. That looks to be our best lineup for now and like you said the hope is that they stay fit. All 3 have a dodgy fitness history. I guess the 2nd team would be Maz, Maguire, Heaven. That is not terrible as a bench option Another thing I noticed is that we were able to pass out from the back better in this game, mainly due to improved spacing at the back and because Arsenal could not press us in numbers because of the threat of Mbeumo and Cunha. The next few games will show if this is a false dawn or building blocks to a push towards the top half of the table. We must start clocking 3 points on board sha. Faith without works is dead. |
Shout out to Matthijs de Ligt. He was probably the best player on the day. Snuffed out a lot of moves and covered up errors in the defence. |
Lobatan. ![]() |
maik99:He has serious talent but he often holds on to the ball for a tad too long in the bid to make things happen himself. That is affecting his decision making. He is not helped by the fact that the Old Trafford fans are always buzzing whenever the ball gets to him. Makes him think he has to do something special every time. |
odizeey:LOL I tried to tell him but he is stubborn. |
larride:Yoro, MDL, Shaw were great. The WBs were decent. The 2 10s were exciting. CMs did okay but we need more athleticism and aggression in that area. And better passing. The GK was criminal. The next few games will show if we have turned the corner in terms of performance. |
CapitalCee:Of course I don’t agree with the decision.. I am just theorising on the thinking behind it. From Amorim’s point of view, he wants as many of his guys as possible in the locker room so that players won’t down tools or throw him under the bus if things start to derail. In other news, Yoro, MDL, and Shaw were imperious today. |
Mbeumo and Cunha will perform well this season. It seems Amad has Starboy virus. They should better treat him on time before it becomes permanent. |
patrickmuf:He had a birth defect which is why his face looks like that. They call him the new Toni Kroos. Reijnders is a very good player and Cherki is very talented. I suspect Cherki would have struggled with us to though. He probably went to the best club for his skillset. Reijnders is plug and play. |
patrickmuf:The wages are key just like treble said. Each of those players will cost clubs between 8 million and 12 million more in wages per year than Doak for instance. That is 40-60 million more over the course of a 5 year contract. Doak is also younger, with good potential, possible high resale value, and little to no disciplinary baggage. |
Nigeria’s men’s basketball team has started thrashing opponents at the Afrobasket championship. Another 100k dollars loading. Na Tinubu go tire last last. ![]() |
TrebleChamp:Of course but when have we ever looked well? Instead of getting a Kante we will go and get a Bakayoko or Ugarte. |
