diggz: Yar’Adua spent just three years in office, and since his demise, we’ve had eight years of remote governance from Buhari and are now set for another eight under Tinubu. Instead of allocating funds to that empty clinic, wouldn’t it make more sense to spend the money on something else? I am not tackling that point. I was just responding to your statement to let you know this issue is a recurring issue and that absentee presidency predates Buhari. With regards the appropriation or misappropriation of funds, what do you expect? That money does not have 2 heads that will prevent it from being stolen like all the other funds that have been misused. |

None of these figures can install an MRI machine, common fixed X Ray and/or Ultrasound go gulp half the yearly budget. Electricity cost for a Magnetron can gulp 10% of the 2023 budget.
Na only plaster and needle dem get for Aso Rock jor. The last 44 bed, 4 theatre, 6 ICU hospital I was involved in cost £132m, £100m to build, £32m for equipment and furnishing. That's all CAPEX, no OPEX.
2015 - N3.9 bn 2016 - N3.87 bn 2017 - N3.2 bn 2018 - N1.08 bn 2019 - N850m 2021 - N1.3 bn New Wing 2021 - N693m 2022 - N708.75m 2023 - N455.2m 2024 - N1.33bn under BAT You are using today’s exchange rate to judge. That 3.9b in 2015 would have bought between 5 to 10 MRI machines back then. Same for 2016 and 2017. 132m pounds was about 3.9b naira in 2015. So we should be asking if that money spent gave us the quality of hospital you were involved in that you mentioned. Those 2015 to 2017 frauds would have been punished by clan extermination in Ancient China. |

You will end up spending more money than you will recoup Unless na govt contract wey you won't do anything and just collect money run That is how someone invited me to come and invest in some farms belonging to Akala’s family. The profit looked juicy in Naira until I started converting to dollars (and this was before Naira plummeted). I am sure those farms are part of the property they are fighting over now. |

patrickmuf: True that...Sels is another keeper I like. I saw you mention Vitek or what is the name again, is he good enough to start for us right now? Vitek did really well on loan. In the best of worlds Onana would be a competent GK and Vitek would be going on another loan in the Championship to develop him even further. I am not sure he is ready to play for us but I guess the coaching staff will assess him during the preseason and decide on the next step to take. If we were flush with cash, I would advise sending him on loan, selling Onana for peanuts and getting a top replacement. The problem is that we need those transfer funds in other positions cos we are as broke as they come. |

akwesenana: And he's old. Not necessarily old for a GK but I think his level dropped a bit last year. His aura, charisma and penalty stopping heroics might be skewing people’s perception about him. Main thing is that we can’t afford to have both Onana and him combining to guzzle a salary of 300k or more every week. |

patrickmuf: I suspect the club will make a move for Martinez. They should just be careful who they move for. Martinez IMO has started dipping in terms of performances. He has 4 years left on his contract and is already on 150k per week. The fee won’t be cheap and the salary won’t be cheap either. It makes sense only if we are able to sell Onana. |

ChristineC: I don't know who sanctioned the sale of this guy to begin with. It was obvious he had a pathway to top level football, even if they felt he lacked the pace. the club need to do much better.
I do commend the recruitments channeled towards the youth though. it's the long game that will certainly reverse the ugly transfer trend since Woodward. Murtough and ETH were in charge when the Alvaro Fernandez deal was agreed to in Jan 2024. The academy recruitment has been the only positive in the past few years. The credit for that goes to Cox and possibly Murtough I believe. This year if all the eligible players play Under-18 we will have another dominant side but I think players like Obi and Mantato will spend more time at more senior levels. The new scholars this year are very good as well so I expect another good season. |

Leyqute: Benfica and Madrid didn’t come to sell beans now. The kid is also beefing the club, so won’t want to allow us to make money from his sale.
The negotiation will be very difficult but we might be able to salvage something. Probably going to be the sell-on kini.
Buying him back to sell to Madrid is very unlikely. The risks are just too much. I know we don't have the competence to do it but if we try it only Benfica will suffer for it. Madrid will benefit. Benfica are selling him to Madrid for 50m. We can buy him back for stipulated 20m and sell him to Madrid for 35m-40m (that is why i said discount). We make 10m-15m and Madrid saves 10m-15m. We have a sell-on clause though, so we don't have to employ such underhand tactics. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 10:58am On Jul 12, 2025 |
Leyqute: Fernandes’ case is dicey. We may not even have agreed on a sell-on clause with him. I read that we have a both a buy back and sell on clause for him. If we don’t have a sell on clause then the smart thing would be to activate the buy-back clause, buy him ourselves and then sell him to Real at a discount. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 10:31am On Jul 12, 2025 |
We sold Alvaro Fernandes to Benfica for €6m in 2024 and a year later he is going to Real Madrid for €50m.
We sold Elanga for £15m and 2 years later he is going to Newcastle for £55m.
We sold Oyedele for 500k and a year later he is about to move for 5m.
If not for the sell-on clauses it would have been disastrous.
We don’t know how to buy players. We don’t know how to sell players. |

patrickmuf: The pressure to win is there in every club. I dare say it's even worse in Madrid where they don't hesitate to boo the stars when they are on a poor run of form and to be honest, all top clubs have millions of fans who are rational and others who are irrational, so don't make it seem like a United thing. Madrid fans that I watched boo Butragueno, Raul, Casillas, and CR7. Imagine him comparing the pressure that senior players bought for millions of pounds are meant to face to that faced by academy players that have rarely played in stadiums. |

By thrusting him into the fray and his subsequent main character syndrome and indeed our overexpectation has led us here. However, Rashford and Sancho matter dey different and they have to go Buying useless senior players is actually wrecking the development of our junior players by thrusting them into the limelight before they are ready. TrebleChamp: Elanga sef was also a deadwood at United, but Newcastle dey offer £50m to sign him from Nottingham Forest. Many of the players we (me included) called deadwood are doing well away from United, leave one to wonder what is really wrong at the club... Because many people here are very biased and do player FC. You heap pressure and insults on teenage players that should not be under such scrutiny, and you shield your favorite players. A couple of years ago it was Elanga. This time it is Garnacho. |
