. It's just his age that is the problem, but then, he is a good striker, I particularly love his runs through the channels...
He has decent movement and finishing. Decent pace, decent holdup play.

He is a decent striker and goal scorer.

Without a solid CDM or Cm and goal keeper
I never said that. I mean the attack would be a Top 4-6 attack.

The other parts of the team can be discussed on their own merit and improved upon, but if we add Watkins, Mbeumo, Cunha to Amad, Zirkzee, Obi, Mount that attack compared to other attacks is Top 4-Top 6.

There seems to be a dearth of top strikers in football now but Watkins will be at best a stop gap. He's not a world class striker.
Yeah I agree on all 3 points.

There are very few top strikers available and Watkins is not world class.

He is however EPL proven and has some good attributes. If he is not signed to ridiculous money and wages he can be a stop gap until we are able to get a top level striker down the line OR someone like Obi matures.

The major issue with him is his age. Only Newcastle and Man City in the top 6 from last season had better strikers than him.

Watkins, Cunha, Mbeumo, Zirkzee, Obi, Mount, Amad should be good enough to compete for top 4-6 this season.

The extra improvement needs to come from the coaching staff and building team chemistry on and off the pitch.

There are reports that we will move for a striker next...I'd be interested to see which striker we go after. I don't want Jackson anywhere around Manchester...
Seems Watkins is the most likely at this point. It depends on Villa’s evaluation.
He might be the cheapest available

Due to his physicality, Leon looks more ready for PL football. Amass is likely more technical - I haven’t really seen Leon play, but based on training videos, he looks stronger than Amass.

A loan away from the club would do Amass a lot of good. They’ve found one for Dan Gore already at Rotherham. Rooting for him.
I have watched 2 games of Leon at the South American CUnder-21 Championships. He very strong and might be one of the strongest guys in our team right now. He is definitely stronger than Amass. Amass is better technically but that WB role needs athleticism.

Leon might even be competing with Dorgu before long cos he might have better technique than Dorgu.

Another dark horse is Mantato but I am not sure where they intend to use him. He can play 3 positions in this system.

You and him are saying different things.

You say you reach your own 1 hr by talking, chilling, relaxing, and deviating with more talks.
He says he reaches his own 1 hour by continuously firing with no break.

The difference is clear like 7-up. 😀

Cunha has been handed the no.10 shirt, and it has been confirmed that Leon will wear no.30.

Several other members of the squad will also be sporting new numbers, including Diogo Dalot (2), Chido Obi (32) and Tyler Fredricson (33).
I think Diego Leon has beaten Amass in the preseason competition.

Amass played with the Under-21s yesterday so I suspect he will either stay with them or go on loan.

......surprisingly, no club seems ready to get our available players for sale. EtH doesn't want Antony at Leverkusen. Chelsea choose to pay fines than to buy Sancho. Villa shipped Rashford back to us. Malacia couldn't stay back in his home country. Garnacho.....?! Tough!
Garnacho will move and it will be pure profit for PSR purposes. That is the most important exit financially. The next is Rashford which will also be pure profit.

Sancho and Antony might be loan deals. Even if we sell them it would be a loss on our books and not helpful for PSR. The main benefits to them leaning are reducing team toxicity and offloading their salaries.

We are buying 1 or 2 players. GK and CF most likely.

I think the Mbeumo negotiations were protracted not just to bring the fee down ( we failed in that) but to try to reduce the initial lump sum payment ;we succeeded in that).

I hear that we are paying less than 20m in this window for him. I think there is still room for 1 or 2 moves, especially if Garnacho and Rashford are sold.

I will go for Busquet, Xavi and KDB.
The 3 you have chosen are good but Makelele would not have any problem with today’s pressing.

His touch was secure, he could collect the ball on the half turn, and he was very adept at shifting the ball and beating on rushing players when he needed to.

Yar’Adua spent just three years in office, and since his demise, we’ve had eight years of remote governance from Buhari and are now set for another eight under Tinubu. Instead of allocating funds to that empty clinic, wouldn’t it make more sense to spend the money on something else?
I am not tackling that point. I was just responding to your statement to let you know this issue is a recurring issue and that absentee presidency predates Buhari.

With regards the appropriation or misappropriation of funds, what do you expect?
That money does not have 2 heads that will prevent it from being stolen like all the other funds that have been misused.

Na only plaster and needle dem get for Aso Rock jor. The last 44 bed, 4 theatre, 6 ICU hospital I was involved in cost £132m, £100m to build, £32m for equipment and furnishing. That's all CAPEX, no OPEX.

2015 - N3.9 bn
2016 - N3.87 bn
2017 - N3.2 bn

2023 - N455.2m
2024 - N1.33bn under BAT
You are using today’s exchange rate to judge.

That 3.9b in 2015 would have bought between 5 to 10 MRI machines back then.
Same for 2016 and 2017.

132m pounds was about 3.9b naira in 2015. So we should be asking if that money spent gave us the quality of hospital you were involved in that you mentioned.

Those 2015 to 2017 frauds would have been punished by clan extermination in Ancient China.

True that...Sels is another keeper I like. I saw you mention Vitek or what is the name again, is he good enough to start for us right now?
Vitek did really well on loan. In the best of worlds Onana would be a competent GK and Vitek would be going on another loan in the Championship to develop him even further.

I am not sure he is ready to play for us but I guess the coaching staff will assess him during the preseason and decide on the next step to take.

If we were flush with cash, I would advise sending him on loan, selling Onana for peanuts and getting a top replacement. The problem is that we need those transfer funds in other positions cos we are as broke as they come.

Not necessarily old for a GK but I think his level dropped a bit last year.

They should just be careful who they move for. Martinez IMO has started dipping in terms of performances. He has 4 years left on his contract and is already on 150k per week.

The fee won’t be cheap and the salary won’t be cheap either. It makes sense only if we are able to sell Onana.

I don't know who sanctioned the sale of this guy to begin with. It was obvious he had a pathway to top level football, even if they felt he lacked the pace.
the club need to do much better.

I do commend the recruitments channeled towards the youth though. it's the long game that will certainly reverse the ugly transfer trend since Woodward.
Murtough and ETH were in charge when the Alvaro Fernandez deal was agreed to in Jan 2024.

The academy recruitment has been the only positive in the past few years. The credit for that goes to Cox and possibly Murtough I believe.

This year if all the eligible players play Under-18 we will have another dominant side but I think players like Obi and Mantato will spend more time at more senior levels. The new scholars this year are very good as well so I expect another good season.

Benfica and Madrid didn’t come to sell beans now. The kid is also beefing the club, so won’t want to allow us to make money from his sale.

The negotiation will be very difficult but we might be able to salvage something. Probably going to be the sell-on kini.

Buying him back to sell to Madrid is very unlikely. The risks are just too much.
I know we don't have the competence to do it but if we try it only Benfica will suffer for it. Madrid will benefit.

Benfica are selling him to Madrid for 50m. We can buy him back for stipulated 20m and sell him to Madrid for 35m-40m (that is why i said discount). We make 10m-15m and Madrid saves 10m-15m.

We have a sell-on clause though, so we don't have to employ such underhand tactics.

Fernandes’ case is dicey. We may not even have agreed on a sell-on clause with him.
I read that we have a both a buy back and sell on clause for him.

If we don’t have a sell on clause then the smart thing would be to activate the buy-back clause, buy him ourselves and then sell him to Real at a discount.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 10:31am On Jul 12, 2025
We sold Alvaro Fernandes to Benfica for €6m in 2024 and a year later he is going to Real Madrid for €50m.

We sold Elanga for £15m and 2 years later he is going to Newcastle for £55m.

We sold Oyedele for 500k and a year later he is about to move for 5m.

If not for the sell-on clauses it would have been disastrous.

We don’t know how to buy players. We don’t know how to sell players.
