KingAlabi:It isn't every time, but it is most times. You rarely hear a manager criticizing an opponent before a game unless there is some prior beef. This Bielsa statement which is so obviously a softening up tactic is no different from what most managers would say before a match. The same way when clubs sack useless managers they thank them for their hard work and positive impact on the team. ![]() |
KingAlabi:So you expect Bielsa to criticize Amaka and his boys the day before Ilan Meslier, Pascal Struijk, and Diego Llorente face Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford, and Mason Greenwood? ![]() |
handelex:That is how managers and players talk especially before a big game. Did you expect him to declare that Amaka was a mediocre manager with no tactical acumen? You have to speak softly, but carry a big stick. In this case soften your opponent up with praise while planning to eliminate him. How does it help his team to insult their more talented opponents thereby motivating those opponents? I remember 1994 Champions League Final, the eve of which the overconfident Barca Dream Team players and manager were talking carelessly about AC Milan, only for Milan to hand them a 4-0 spanking. |
patrickmuf:You dey look am like Jega, abi? ![]() Well it is good to have a balance of opinions here, we should just not let it degenerate into personal attacks as it often does. Me personally, I see a hard limit to what Amaka can achieve with the players we have and are likely to acquire. |
handelex you would make a great propagandist. ![]() |
nitrogen:How far bros, you fit help us check their CV? ![]() 2 men both born in the relatively small city of Chelmsford in the same year, entered the same Uni the same year, graduated from the same faculty the same year, and joined the same accounting company (the same year of course)..............years later they are running (or ruining) the same the football club at the same time. Village people did a number on Man Utd. O ma se o! |
Oasis007:Konate is a talented defender but also an aspiring doctor. We already have 2 of those. |
patrickmuf:Omo sometimes you got to delve deep o. Ed and Richard were born in the same year, in the same town in England. Furthermore they went to the same Uni at the same time. If all that na coincidence then village people dey after Manchester United. If nitrogen fit help us look through their CV you go see say na the same kindergarten both of them attend. |
I am hearing that Richard Arnold (Ed Woodward's old primary school and university room mate) is going to take over as CEO. LOL. The more things change the more they stay the same. |
SAF is a Scottish nationalist. Nothing special for McTominay. He is at best a squad player for a club with our aspirations. |
raumdeuter:The point is that there is no exception allowing you to circumvent the 50+ 1 rule just because you are coming from lower leagues to the top. The exception is the 20 year rule. The authorities didn’t allow RB Leipzig to have their ownership structure just because they were coming from lower leagues, rather RB Leipzig found a way to circumvent the rules and many people in Germany are still critical of them because of this. |
raumdeuter:Leipzig's situation had nothing to do with starting from the bottom but more with sharp practices by Red Bull. RB Leipzig rejects applications from most people who are not employees or agents of Red Bull which means although they obey the letter of the law in having membership control, those members themselves are under the control of Red Bull. |
patrickmuf:Oh ok. Thought it was a loaded question. Wolfsburg, Bayer Leverkusen, and Hoffenheim have exceptions via the 20yr rule. Leipzig does not have any exception but circumvented the rule via some yahoo boy moves. Essentially what Leipzig did was to limit the voting membership almost exclusively to employers and other proxy agents of the Red Bull company. Therefore on paper it is obeying the 50+1 rule but in reality it is under the control of the top dogs at Red Bull. |
patrickmuf: ![]() |
patrickmuf:Then your point is wrong. Ed alluded to both those who won trophies and those who haven’t won in his statement. The man was just clutching at straws and trying to spin a positive statement and nothing more. Na you dey try look for wetin no dey inside. At this point Ed and the Glazers are doing iro competition. Take anything they say with a bowl of salt. |
GloryIsaac:E be like say the guy see tribal mark for our face. ![]() If lying was an Olympic sport Joel Glazer would be a perennial gold medallist. ![]() |
Roland17:On the surface it looks like it but Mason has more experience as a coach. King just joined last year mainly to learn the ropes and because of his status within the club, while Mason joined 3 years ago, and was first head of Under-19 and subsequently head of youth development. They are probably doing it to protect King who is surely not ready for the job. Imagine if he gets the temporary job and they beat City in the League Cup? Spurs fans all over will start clamoring for him to get the job only for him to flop badly next season. |
Jim Ratcliffe should just call a few of his friends and source the funds to buy the club from the Glazers. They have not given us the same competitive boost that the owners of Chelshit and Man City gave them. We say NO to American audio money. |
Also, when during the off season when players are meant to be resting on vacation and then preparing for the next season do you want to fit over 100 games? |
Oasis007:We already have something similar with the pre-season tours. The profits can never be equal to a season long competitive tournament. 1) Many players won't be fully fit and the quality will be relatively low. 2) Will each team be able to play 18 to 25 pre-season matches like was planned for the Super League? Remember that more matches means more TV revenue and more gate takings. 3) The average fan won't be as invested in a pre-season tournament as they would be interested in a truly competitive season long tournament, so ratings won't be the same. |
Oasis007:They didn't come up with the plan because they just enjoy playing against each other. They came up with it because of the huge profits. You can't get such huge profits from pre-season tournaments. |
patrickmuf:Hehehehe. You go wicked well well. |
patrickmuf:So Assanal won’t even get mummy thank you? ![]() |
KingAlabi:Na iriri aiye I just drop for you sharperly, and you no even pay for am. ![]() |
eph12:You go easily sabi those who are still collecting pocket money. ![]() |
nihilistjnr:Of course na I don’t mean we should just enter Saudi and sell to just anybody. That one that is a member of Saudi royal family and is not worth even up to a billion dollars. I mean if an American is worth 1 billion dollars and an Arab is also worth 1 billion dollars, in most cases the Arab will be willing to spend more on his team than the American whose money is often part money and part audio. Finally, God no go shame us o. I want authentic Arab money. ![]() |
Na Perez this thing go pain pass. ![]() The others are mainly ignorant Americans that do not understand football as it is a foreign game to them. Perez on the other hand allowed his greed to overcome his common sense. That closed system with automatic inclusion and no qualification was what killed this Super League idea. |
Oasis007:Arab money is authentic money, whether Qatari, Emirati, Saudi i no dey too choosy. ![]() American money na audio money. We need owners that use spraying gun not those miserly Americans. |
adebayo201:Hehehe. I am just watching from decking my gee. Let the Glazers sell the club to one money ravaged Arab first, then i will come down from decking to celebrate with you guys. |
patrickmuf:Even in the UCL the winners get more than the other teams but the Glazers did not have the incentive to chase the title. This Super league guaranntees cash windfall at little or no risk. There is no incentive for anyone who is not motivated by winning titles to spend more than is necessary there. Spending 200-200m more in order to stand the chance of making 200-300m more and win the title will not pass the risk-benefit test of those Americans. |
MRTA7:Exactly. |
patrickmuf:The people that are just happy to qualify for Champions League every season will also be happy to just be in the Super league every season. The amount of money one needs to spend in order to win such a competition will be too much for people like the Glazers and Kroenke. Barca, Real, Man City, Chelsea will be the ones rotating the title while the owners of Utd, Assanal, Spurs will stay up at night counting their money like Silas Marner. |
