elampiro: Pogba was also a problem. He turned turned ball back or around or many leg overs while everyone was thinking forward.
The lack of tactics in that particular match was there, but the players had many concentration issues. Many times, games after international break are hard for big teams whose players were very active in the period. The small.teams have their players resting I was not even analyzing the match or indicting AWB's general play. I just noticed 2-3 passes that AWB gave to Pogba after the yellow card that put Pogba in trouble. |

handelex: It's just sad, we took ourselves out of contention. We have had too many important players off form this season to maintain the high level needed. Immediately City stepped hard on the gas we couldn't keep up. Just adding Martial and Greenwood's scoring form of last season would have kept us in the race. |

Hatrick for Garnacho. I have been impressed with Forson and Hansen. Hoogewerf has been quite good too but he is older than the rest so not as impressive. His mates are mainly playing Under-23. |

SyIvalord: Yes, it could be that too. But don’t you it will be better if Patrick just admits that he does not know Madrid’s pattern of play because he doesn’t watch them regularly instead of pretending that he knows but isn’t just feeling like saying it. Na the intellectual wey Patrick dey try form dey make me laugh am. LOL. But asking him for the pattern of play of Madrid is an exercise in smoke and mirrors. Whether anybody here knows Madrid's style/tactic/pattern is not relevant to the discussion. If you don't watch Madrid every week you might not know their pattern but it does not in of itself detract from your assertion about United's lack of an identifiable style/tactic/pattern. |

SyIvalord: I understand what you mean Doc.
Patrick said he cannot see any pattern of play Ole has instilled into the team which is obviously one of the reason he wants Ole to be sacked. He was then asked to describe what pattern of play Zidane, Klopp etc have instilled into their respective teams but he has been beating around the bush. Probably because he cannot see the pattern of play Zidane and Klopp has instilled into their respective teams either.
It’s just a point to prove that People often criticize Ole even when they do not know what they are talking about. No one asked Patrick for Madrid or Liverpool’s tactics, the tactics are easy to see.
Patrick is claiming that he cannot see any pattern of play Ole has instilled into the team despite him being knowledgeable enough to observe and ascertain different patterns of play employed by different managers. But he cannot tell us the pattern of play Zidane has instilled into Madrid. Is it that Madrid does not have a pattern of play, or Patrick is just not as knowledgeable as he thinks? That is the bone of contention. Or could it be that Patrick is better able to answer questions about United's pattern of play (or lack thereof) because he watches United play 90 minutes twice every week while he can't answer such questions for Real Madrid as he does not watch them regularly. Just saying. |

SyIvalord: Wasn’t it the same Ole that eased Greenwood into the team? I trust that he will also ease our other promising youngsters into the team with time. Mejbri’s time will come. I remember a couple of years ago those in the know were wondering why Amaka wasn’t playing Greenwood. By this time next year Mejbri will be better than some senior midfielders. I don’t want to name names or lay blame. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 1:55am On Apr 10, 2021 |
Leyqute: Amaka is not serious jare. If he can’t trust VDB etc in midfield Mejbri will likely not get the go ahead.
He could replace him wirh Bruno tho. Or Pogba. After 70-75 mins. Mejbri has serious potential. If he can bulk up just a little bit I think he can move straight to the senior squad next season without going on loan. In an ideal world he should be Pogba’s understudy while Shoretire understudies Bruno. Shoretire and Elanga might need a loan next season though. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 1:19am On Apr 10, 2021 |
Leyqute: Wait...I think we mentioned this earlier. Must’ve forgotten.
When will Mejbri get his debut then ? Probably towards the end of the season when Top 4 is mathematically sealed. Shoretire was lucky. He was behind both Elanga and Mejbri on the queue but both got injured at about the same time and Shola made his debut. I suspect Mejbri will make his debut on the wings rather than in midfield due to Amaka’s excessive caution. |

handelex: Our defending has been lackluster atimes but it’s not been poor as you’re making it out to be. The problem with them is they can’t play out from the back to save their lives, Bissaka and Fred being chief culprits.
Our attackers should be doing more but you need to understand the gaping hole in the right wing coupled with Bissaka’s ineptitude going forward in that same right wing. Our attack has been heavily left dependent and it shows.
As for the midfield although they’ve created chances for the forwards yet I still see no balance to their play as Ole keeps playing double pivots almost every game. A quality CDM can bring that balance. It showed in those matches we blew teams away after project restart when Matic was deployed as the sole anchor but it didn’t last as his legs were gone.
Pressing needs for the summer, a quality right wing player that creates and provides width for the full back, a CDM, a striker and a CB. I assume Dalot is coming back to provide options for the RB spot.
Another important point, Ole needs to upgrade very fast or we may remain just a top four team and we should be looking past that now.
If we don't make significant signings Top 4 might be a struggle next season. I no want make the thing shock people. |

patrickmuf: That's what they want to make us believe when in all honesty, it is not true... 2 things can be true. The players can be poor with the manager being poor as well. They are not mutually exclusive situations. Even a great manager like Pep has had to discard gazillion players because even he could not get them to perform. There is a big list of players that flopped under him. Even if our players will perform better under a better manager (which i agree with) it will be marginal. We aren't winning the league under any regular circumstance with this bunch. |

patrickmuf: Hopefully he gets some minutes but that's a big ask considering Amad isn't even getting enough minutes... When Amad played with the Under-23 he did not look better than Elanga although it is a small sample size. Out of the teenagers at the club I would rate Greenwood, Mejbri, Elanga, Amad, Shoretire in that order. Of course with the caveat being that we have not really seen enough of Amad to give a fair judgement AND Shoretire has regularly played 4-5yrs ahead of his age group so it is very difficult to judge just how good he is. |
