Leyqute: I was wrong about him getting lots of minutes while on loan then.
But the question remains- is he ready for Man Utd? Is he good enough to be a starter? If he can’t displace anyone from the starting XI, can he be a squad option who will become better and then cement a starting position in time?
We seriously need a good CDM/DM He is ready to be a squad player but i think what he needs for now is regular minutes, so another loan this time in the Premier League might be what he needs. Some have suggested that we buy Bissouma and loan them Garner to massage their loss. |

Leyqute: I haven’t kept tabs on Garner but I doubt he will: mainly due to the physicality of the EPL- he’s not that strong, yet; and also because I don’t think he got lots of minutes while on loan. He has arguably been the best player for Nottingham Forest since he joined them with many of their fans believing he has been their player of the season, and he just joined at the end of January. |

Roland17: Even during the fight, Masvidal was taunting Usman and that only fueled his resolve to take him out cold. He did give credit to Masvidal for making him work harder in the gym this time. Usman is always dealing with the feeling that he has not been accepted as the best.. For some reason, there are always questions about him despite his numbers and that frustrates the hell out of him. To be fair he leaned heavily on his wrestling when he entered the UFC and won a lot of decisions which many found boring. He has only started to improve his striking generally and his punching in particular. HIs bread and butter is his elite wrestling which is what makes this KO very impressive. Strikers like Izzy and Francis will get fans easily because their fights are usually more exciting. It is a bit like the way Larry Holmes who is the Supreme Lord of the jab felt unappreciated compared to Ali before him and Tyson after him. |

Oasis007: Jez saw the Highlight, Usman na Beast. He is pound for pound the best right now. Funny thing is that the road he took was the opposite of the road his friend Ngannou took. Whereas Ngannou was a puncher that had to learn wrestling along the way, Usman was an elite wrestler that has now learnt how to punch. |

Roland17: I don laugh die @ bouncing up and down on the canvas.. My man Herb like Fayolence well well, especially when fighters don make too much mouth..He dey like give dem space to “express” their feelings.
That punch was deadly.. When it landed, I held my head to make sure say no my own dem hit like that. That type of punch dey knock door for pesin soul..
From a health POV, it was quite dangerous and Masvidal could have suffered irreversible damage to his brain. The thing is that was the only kind of finish that could have satisfied both Usman and Masvidal. That finish was neeeded for Masvidal to concede that Usman was the better fighter, and it was needed for Usman to feel that he had avenged all the disrespect. Imagine Masvidal that called Usman a weak puncher, foot stomper, and hugger, being knocked out for the first time in his UFC career. Poetic justice. Sweet stuff. |

Roland17: Baba, I get your point, I honestly do. But I will give Herb a benefit of a doubt here.
Firstly, you see the distance Herb had to cover after Usman landed the right hand that knocked Masvidal out? When he got to the area, Masvidal was trying to get up from the punch, this is very very important in the decision to allow Usman land more punches. Masvidal was trying to shake it off and that was why Herb allowed the hits to go on.
This highlights one of the biggest difference between MMA and Boxing.. In boxing, Usman would have naturally backed off after Masvidal hit the ground but that is not the case in MMA. Masvidal did not submit after he got to the ground. You can say he was knocked out but he was still active on the floor. He suffered more punches because of that until Herb stopped it.
Was it late? quite debatable but yes.. However, Herb was giving Masvidal a chance to recover since he was trying to shake off the punch. Hehehe. He was not trying to shake anything off. He was bouncing up and down on the canvas from the force of Kamaru's hammer fists, and that is what made it seem like he was trying to shake it off. And even trying to shake it off should not count when a fighter is receiving direct punches to the head. What counts are 1) Are you effectively defending yourself? 2) Are you actively fighting back? The guy was out. Someone that did not know he was out and was arguing with his coaches after the fight. P.S And that distance issues is something i noticed about Herb. He is always having to scamper from faraway Siberia to stop fights. |

SyIvalord: Oh, it’s not about that. I already knew what the reaction would be even before I posted that Bielsa statement(I didn’t know someone else had posted it before me). The issue actually doesn’t even concern Mourinho and I wonder how they managed to squeeze him into the arguments.
I just feel this is the Man United fan thread and Man United should be the priority here. Currently Man United fans are protesting against The Glazers. Not just regular #Glazersout that fades away after some days but a massive protest. I feel that should be the topic of discussion right now. Whatever side of the divide you are on, either OleIn or OleOut, one thing almost all United fan can agree on is that the Glazers have been leeches since they bought MUFC and since the leopard cannot change its spots, it’s time for them to get out of our club. After we finish protesting against the Glazers and forcing them out, everybody can go back to their agendas. You have spoken well but it was your brother who came here to post the agenda loaded Bielsa statement here o. You can't blame OleOutters for this one. Everybody here was cool like the other side of the pillow until Bielsa propaganda was dropped. Your brother could have dropped GlazersOut yarns, but he chose war. |

chidexxy007: McCann or Ethan Gilbraith?
They've been ok in the absence of Garner in that CM but don't think they will make the grade imo. The club still lacks a proper DM in all age groups too. Neither is good enough IMO. Maybe Galbraith can make the grade as a Premier League 8 but definitely not as a 6. He does not offer much protection for the defence. McCann and Wellens dem are just marking time to graduate. Iqbal and Hansen-Aaroen in the Under-18s look way more impressive, but both are no 8/10. Svidersky is a CDM but just how good he is we will see when he steps fully into the Reserves next season. Savage can play 6 and 8 but he is as slow as a snail. |

KingAlabi: Amad nko Na so you wan take sideline my future ballon d'or winner. Amad is talented but he looks more like a VDB give and go player than the 1v1 quick WFs we are used to at Man Utd. If we sign a quality CF i don't see Amad dislodging Greenwood from RWF. |

KingAlabi: Oh alright No talented RB in the youth set up now, although when Jurado settles down next season one might see what the hype is about. Alvaro Fernandez at LB is extremely good on the ball but his lack of pace means he might end up being a Marcos Alonso. Mengi is on loan at Derby County doing okay. Fish is partner just turned 18 and has looked a bit of sorts since Mengi left, but then again he has not really had a stable partner. Bennet and Hardley the under-18 CBs look okay so far but Kambwala the injured French import is meant to be the star. We have only 2 strikers (Hugill at reserves and McNeill at under-18). Where we are loaded is central and attacking midfield with Hannibal and Shoretire the chosen ones, however Hansen-Aaroen, Zidane Iqbal, Svidersky, Savage, Forson all have potential. Savage is quite slow however, even though he has a lovely left foot. |

I really not just hope, but pray he keeps it up. I hope you are right though. If he develops to be a supreme CF and Greenwood becomes a complete RWF then can actually play together. Maybe Elanga on the LWF, Shoretire as the no 10 with Hannibal and someone else at CM. One can only dream |

Oasis007: Liverpool Academy Product? Doc Liverpool ain't fortunate with their Products nau. Like Fowler, Owen, Gerrard, Sterling? My point is you can't just translate goals scored at Under-18 level to senior level. Many other factors are involved including actual footballing ability. It is still too early to give a good assessment of McNeill as a footballer. As a striker though he is right on schedule. |

patrickmuf: What do you make of him? Does he stand a big chance of making it here? It is still too early to tell but as a footballer he is not as good as Greenwood for instance. He is a good finisher and has excellent movement but not really good at the other aspects of the game, which means he can only play striker for the senior team and won't get any minutes at other positions. For instance, Greenwood would have been a perennial bench player in this present squad if he was not competent at RWF. Being able to play multiple positions is a good quality for a young player in a big team. Additionally, he is so close in age to Greenwood that by the time he starts knocking on the door for the senior team Greenwood would likely be about to enter his peak years. Greenwood is the more complete player by far and if he moves to CF as most of us expect McNeill won't make it here. McNeill has better movement than Greenwood though. |

nitrogen: Haha, e don be for Man U. Noticed that ex-PwC guys are running the business side of things at man utd. Even the man that Woody took over from is a PwC alumnus.
Wait, Gill never had football experience but his time was deemed really successful (relative to Woody’s), why? If Woody had a vibrant SAF as manager he too would have been deemed a success. All Woody had to do was appoint the right manager and build the right squad, and he has failed 4 different times now. Just for failing on those appointments so many times he deserves the axe. The only Man Utd Chief Executive whose success is unquestionable is Martin Edwards because he appointed the right manager and built the right squad, and crucially he kept faith with the manager when fans and media alike wanted him to to be sacked. So it is not just about having football experience but about understanding football and doing a good job both off and on the field. |
