That they are playing high line does not mean they are playing it well or playing consistently.

Also suicidal to play a high line with a defender that turns like an ocean liner. The effectiveness of the high line depends on the pace and organization of the defenders more than anything the midfielders or attackers do.

This is not to say the midfielders and attackers don't affect it, but just not as much as the defenders do. Remember how AVB almost prematurely ended John Terry's career?

Even the quality of the press depends on the quality of the high line. This was one of the corner stones of Arrigo Sacchi's 25m rule. You can't press consistently and effectively when your CBs are always dropping off to make up for their lack of pace.

Lewis has always been great puncher, but I think his chin is always suspect. His chin always failed him whenever he meets someone who out punches him.

Ngannou was not knocked out o. Both of them barely engaged in that fight. Ngannou specifically looked like he was having a mental breakdown while Lewis was happy to go along for the ride, not risk himself and win on points.

Jones on the other hand, I cannot predict. Even though moving to full heavyweight might affect jones a bit, but that cocaine mutherfoka is unpredictable.

Yeah stylistically Jones will pose more problems. I was talking more of Lewis being a legit power puncher as well that might be the greatest test of Ngannou's chin yet.

If the next opponent is Jones then Ngannou had better get back to the gym to work even more on his grappling, takedown defense and kicking. His punching will take care of itself.

That is if we even accept that we have been improving, cos Shaw and maybe AWB(going forward) are the only players that appear to have improved in a squad with over 20 senior players.

Remember that Lewis beat Francis in that boring match in which both of them strangely refused to attack.

Some said that Francis was still trying to recover mentally from his earlier Stipe loss which is why he was tentative. Others said both Francis and Lewis were just too scared of each other’s power.

Whichever way you see it Francis lost to Lewis and with Lewis being highest ranked contender it is only logical that Francis avenge that loss before facing Jones for an all time great fight.

Not all subs are tactical. AM for AM and FW for FW is not tactical in my opinion.

Formation did not change but personnel did. He merely replaced off form and injured personnel with on form personal. Not tactical.

Switching formation or game plan is tactical. Just replacing one player with another player by itself is not a tactical change.

Great job by AWB here. VDB was escorting that player to the goal, like James did wirh Salah the other day.

VDB did not have the pace to make the tackle. If he had tried to run any faster he would have pulled a hammy.
