raumdeuter:Having a team regarded as one of the greatest of all time does not automatically mean the manager to is on the list of greatest. I mean who were the managers of the great Real team that won 5 straight European cups, who managed the great Bayern side of the 70s etc. I am not saying Pep is not good/great but great team does not equate to great coach......it is mainly about the players Even the great Arrigo Sacchi found failure everywhere in club football after his Milan stint cos he never again worked with players of the quality of Baresi, Gullit, Van Basten and Rijkaard. IT IS EASIER FOR A MANAGER TO APPEAR GREAT WHEN HE IS COACHING GREAT PLAYERS |
raumdeuter:You have made good points. Especially about his vision in shifting Messi inside and getting rid of Etoo on the second attempt. He is definitely a good coach like I conceded but we have to also concede that he was dealt a great hand by destiny with quality players he had at his disposal. |
Wetin be all this VMAs wey Nihilist and A40 dey talk? Abeg make una no cause confusion here o ![]() To the argument, Pep is a very good coach but his achievements have led to him being vastly overrated . If you give Alex Ferguson or Ottmar Hitzfeld or the young Arrigo Sacchi that Barca team (with Messi,Xavi,Iniesta and Busquets all together and all at their peaks supported at different times by Zlatan,Henry,Ronaldinho and Etoo) those other coaches would have done the same or even more. Just my personal opinion |
RuuDie:Most old men have problems with visual acuity, especially old men that see Rojo replacing Vidic and Iheanacho better than Aguero ![]() |
We need at least a CB,RW, 1 or 2 CMs and a CF. That way Rashford, Lingard, Adnan,Memphis and Perreira can be our options off the bench while we offload Mata, Teiger and Carrick in January if the new players do well. |
Lukaku is bigger, stronger and more experienced but Martial is the one with the greater, rarer talent/potential. Whether he fulfills it is a different matter however. |
Leyqute:Iheanacho has better team mates, plays under less pressure and very importantly is years older than Rashford. They are both doing well though so I have hopes for both of them . Saying one is on a level above the either is debatable but saying either is presently better than Aguero is strange talk. |
Iheanacho is better than Aguero the same way Walcott is a better finisher than Cristiano Ronaldo........inside the dreams and aspirations of certain people. |
Lol Iniesta has suffered in your hands. From "best midfielder in the game" to "unproductive nigga" now he is a cripple? ![]() |
Ibime:There was no Yorke and Sheringham too as you earlier claimed. In those years Scholes was a sub playing both in attack and midfield( wherever space appeared) and he played many many matches in attack. For example from Jan 1995 to October 1995 when Cantona was banned for the Kung fu kick incident our attack was Scholes and Andy Cole......and the soon departed Sparky And our midfield was Keane,Butt.......and the soon departed Guvnor |
Ibime:Paul Scholes actually played quite a number of matches as a striker earlier on. Between 1994 when he broke into the team and around 1997 when Roy Keane injured his cruciate ligament in the first Alf Inge Haaland tackle Paul Scholes was used mainly in attack while first choice midfield was Keane and Butt. The injury allowed Scholes to gain a starting shirt in midfield with Butt and when Keano got back in 1998 it was Butt and not Scholes who went to the bench. |
Nice one. Dadehmola completed the job i started on Dayo. Even Alexander the Great can not save him from the tortuous knot he has tied himself into this time. Shebi he is in Yankee? He should enter U.S politics, his flip-flopping would be an asset there ![]() If he flip-flopped any more than this he would be a fish |
raumdeuter:Puskas was the ONLY DECENT player in a team that went undefeated for about 5years, reached a World Cup final and won Olympic Gold? why not doubt puskas since his country has failed to produce great players since? Why is it only Charlton and other great English players of the past that u can doubt? Or have Northern Ireland and Hungary been banned from producing great players since? Why can't u just admit that the same way Hungary once had great players that got things done, England has also had great players. The quality of players from decades ago does not affect the quality of current players. The greatness of Banks,Moore,Charlton has been validated by their titles, awards and several several sources but you will come with your logic and say because Hart,Cahill and Wilshere are not great then Banks,Moore and Charlton could not have been great. It makes no sense Why not doubt Lev Yashin too? After all Russia has stopped producing great teams. |
raumdeuter:But a country becomes football minnows by having mediocre players. So Hungary and Wales by being minnows according to you must be filled with mediocre players e.g Best,John Charles,Puskas,Koscis etc ![]() Also you have to explain how the England team of only mediocre players in 1966 got to the World Cup final and won it. Or how a mediocre player like Bobby Charlton became a fixture on the Ballon D'or list for multiple years while a great player like Littbarski could only come second in an award by a teen fashion magazine in Germany. ![]() |
raumdeuter:In other words Littbarki and Podolski are better than Bobby Charlton,Ferenc Puskas and George Best. Brilliant logic ![]() |
raumdeuter:When I talk of Anglophobia I am talking of you saying Littbarski whose only individual award was Bundesliga goal of the year 1985 was a better player than Bobby Charlton who won the 1966 Ballon d'or and was 2nd in 1967 and 1968, was FIFA World Cup player of the tournament in 1966 and also made the team of the tournament in 1970, then made the FIFA World Cup All Time Team. THAT is what I mean by Anglophobia. |
raumdeuter:Beasting? Lol Does this beasting ban him from winning individual awards? Awards that we can make reference to like Fifpro or uefa team of the year or ballon d'or or team of the tournament? I don't mean the legendary "beast of the finals" award o. If they were scientists Terry would be Einstein and Boateng would be Teacher Chike. |
raumdeuter:Terry in his prime was alternating awards with Nesta,Puyol,Cannavaro and Maldini. Many years he edged out some of those guys. Boateng in his prime is playing third fiddle to David Luiz,Pique and Diego Godin while playing in a dominant team. Almost all his team mates are getting individual awards except him, is there a clause in his contract prohibiting him from getting awards? If they were boxers Terry would be Floyd Mayweather and Boateng would be Musiliu omo iya onikoko. |
AdeLaNa1:Dayo is affected by 2 things 1) his Anglophobia. He hates everything English and would argue in the face of records, statistics and facts 2) his amorality. He is not averse to twisting the facts, making fallacious statements or outrightly lying in order to dig himself out of the holes his Anglophobia gets him into. |
Nihilist:Coogar was a confidence artist extraordinaire, that is why I don't blame all the guys on this forum that became his "come rain or shine" supporters. Elampiro was the first to call them out here but I knew it was a lost cause. That is why people who rarely watch Ligue 1 would be saying we should buy Lacazette or people would say we should buy Sigurddson or Dembele of Spurs instead of Modric ![]() |
raumdeuter:My argument is that John Terry in his prime was miles miles and miles better than Alago of life. Despite playing in a dominant team fans, analysts and players have come together to confirm Boateng as Sh..t worthy only of 3rd team. The difference between Terry and Boateng is like the difference between death and sleep, like the difference between Di Caprio and Ramsey Nouah. If they were drug lords then Terry would be El Chapo and Boateng would be Akindele Ile eru. |
Madrid is being roasted. Thank God we didn't waste so much money on either Mangala or Otamendi.....2 boneheaded defenders |
It is very interesting how individual nominations and awards are used to judge every footballer except Alago epon Boateng who disappears like the fart of a leprous witch when these awards are being listed. Between 2004 and 2009 the names dominating these awards were Terry,Nesta,Puyol,Cannavaro. Since then the names dominating have been Ramos,Pique and Silva. The modality for these different awards differs, in one fans vote from a list decided by an expert panel, yet in the other players themselves vote. Meaning fans believe Boateng is Sh..t, analysts believe Boateng is sh..t and players themselves believe Boateng is Sh..t. No matter how the awards are decided the only constant is the absence of Alago sneh, yet we are to believe somehow that because he plays in a great team he is better than Terry in his prime. |
Dayo just dey fall my hand anyhow these days. It can only mean one thing. Coogar has used Arif the accountant to pay Dayo off and he (coogar) is now running running Dayo's profile here ![]() |
This is what you get when ignorant people come online without facts and try to be "champion". Threads like this are meant to be for intelligent discussion and debate but some will just fi ake kori and stand by untenable positions while disregarding the facts. It is rare to find any debate here ending with one party agreeing the other party was right, and that is why I have stopped long back n forth arguments here.......usually no point. If you corner the other party they will start lying or wriggling like ekolo.....just like brother kagawa has done . |
elampiro:I rated Jones but I am starting to suspect he is another Jonathan Woodgate, injured yesterday recovering today to be injured tomorrow. His combo with Smalling is still our best right now because it affords us the ability to play a high line and compress the midfield spaces, however I believe next season we need to buy a world class ball playing but physical defender to complement Smalling( who is still so poor with the ball). |
We should be going for Aubameyang,Muller,Gundogan etc and not Anderson from Lazio or that Benfica teenager. No more experiments, we need peak players who would be comfortable with physical EPL football. |
So someone deserves insults for disagreeing with you? Smh He made some good points some will agree with and other points some will disagree with. E never reach to dye talk about insults. 1) Schneiderlin who was brought in to replace Carrick is quite good without the ball but modern football requires the holding midfielder to be a very good passer of the ball, he needs to work on that seriously. 2) Herrera is just slightly above average, he is made to look good by his mediocre team mates. He is very careless with the ball, lacks awareness and has the tendency to turn into danger. When he is given time on the ball he has some quality but in the EPL that won't be often. 3) The summary is that while it is true that LVG has been disappointing the major problem is the quality of the players(both the old ones and the new buys). If the board does not realise this the same players would end up causing a 3rd manager to be sacked next season For years we have been buying subpar players only to be bailed out by the will of SAF. Now he is not there we need to buy some of the best in the world and not has beens like Schweinsteiger and Falcao or potentials like Memphis but players at their peak in their mid 20s |
raumdeuter:Gundogan is better IMO Well we will see I am hoping my team hosts to win like they usually do |
raumdeuter:That is what I meant by stiffer opposition. Wassup with Gundogan? |
raumdeuter:Mustafa and howedes that have barely played this season? If boateng is not fit na these rudiger and tah go play o Or u think say your manager fielded them to celebrate Easter? |
raumdeuter:You have a point there though it might be too much to expect the unorthodox to work twice in a row. It is using 4 centre backs that has held Belgium back in my opinion . We will see how things pan out but there will be stiffer opposition than England come the Euros |
