I go to church at Asaba, I leave my house at Obosi by 7:30 and I will be in church by 8am not with my own car but with transport bus (Asaba Onitsha bus).

If you are driving your own car and with normal traffic, it won't take you more than 15 minutes from bridge to Asaba Airport.
One is that it's a straight road, no diversion except when you are turning to go into the airport.

ehmmm nobody lives on head bridge, most people leave for the airport from their homes, and most middle-class residents that can afford flights live ar least 15 -35 minutes from head bridge, those of us in the Nnewi/amichi axis headbridge is between 40-60 minutes from headbridge.

Private companies can build airports in Nigeria. Only MMA2 has been run by private sector because traffic is very low in Nigeria and aviation lives on low margins.

Anambra minus the blinders of patriotism does not need an airport when 2 are less than 60 km from either Awka or Onitsha. The airport in Asaba has not transformed Asaba nor Onitsha which it is close to it not has Owerri airport transformed Owerri.

Calabar is a warning of the danger of white elephant projects one cannot maintain. The airport is in decline, Tinapa is dead and the government is neck deep in debt.

Anambra should have dedicated that 40 billion or whatever it will cost to make its cities look and feel like cities. No decent wide avenues in either Onitsha or Awka in 2021. No water supply. 10x10 shops, wheelbarrows and Keke touts everywhere. Find me just one decent street in Awka that is wide like Okpara Avenue or Rangers or planned like Independence Layout.

Showcasing a federal expressway is fake marketing. What has Anambra govt built in its so-called capital city? Zik Avenue is an old road and federal expressay. Iweka Road is an old road. Awka Road in Onitsha, New Market Road, Iweka Road, aall roads that preceded the formation of the state. Truth is they have built NOTHING. Instead the villagers occupying government house agu-awka have built rural roads like the primitive people that they are. No roads for the capital or commercial city but roads to towns and villages where Abakaliki, Enugu and Hausa people are doing caretaker for peoples house.

I do not know what motivates your vehement hostility towards this commendable airport project but you still come across as a smart and enlightened individual, I will not disregard all your arguments entirely, there is a real danger that some well-placed politicians and civil servants may see the airport as an opportunity to amass unearned wealth.

i insist that a good manager will be able to run the airport at a small profit, once the management can avoid a bloated workforce and ghost workers syndrome. Yes, there is an opportunity cost to the project but the cost of construction is actually a sunk cost and the airport is not a gargantuan edifice that will swallow millions of dollars in overheads. I live in Indiana and the main airport is run 100% on solar energy, public power is just on standby,that is massive cost savings furthermore the airport can raise funds on indoor and more critically on exterior advertisement............the express road medians can be used for adverts and the streelights poles on the median can be used for same advert purpose as well.

It hasn't proven anything other than waste of funds. Every airport built by state government in Nigeria has proven to be mediocre and a money loser. Asaba airport, Dutse Airport even the much vaunted Owerri Airport.

As for roads, they have gotten worse under Wilberforce and all the insecurity in the state is because he has encouraged touting in motor parks on the streets and in front of markets in the name of IGR. Go to Enugu or Abakaliki you will not see the collapse of roads and touts like you see in Onitsha of Awka.

A knowledgeable management will run the airport profitably, Anambra state has started well by building a modest-sized terminal, they can expand their revenue base by adding jet fuel depots, cargo terminal, executive or general aviation terminal, aviation school to train our pilots, short stay hotels and motels, food courts and even a park/golf course .........that is if they can raise the funds.
