Do they change their accent? No They do not.

Those who make fun of their accent are the english who thinks they should speak like them.

Why should they abandon their accent for Enlish accent?

If an Italian speaks English, he speaks with his heavy accent

The French, the German, eastern Europeans etc speak English with their own accent.

Our Nigerian brothers and sisters socialise with them without complaining. But the moment they see a Nigerian with a heavy accent, they will be like hooo?

why is it soooooooo?
Unfortunately the victims begin to make effort to blend focusing on changing accent and forgeting the importance of proper English pronunciation.

Another form of mental slavery?

I know you didn't ask me but let me explain and put this thing to sleep.
I read here on nairaland that widows in  some parts of Igboland who are accused of killing their husbands are sometimes told to drink the bathwater from the corpse to prove her innocence.
I had never heard of it and neither had my husband.
There was also a nollywood movie made on that based on a real life issue according to Karmamod.

On further investigation, and supported by an article, it was found that the same practice  of drinking bathwater obtained in some parts of Yorubaland and Edoland and perhaps other places (who knows).

Obviously this must be a rare practice
It is nauseating.
Now I hope it's clear
It caused a crisis  in Anambra, I think in Ogbunike some years back.  The youths of the community were armed with weapons as they fought to preserve their wicked custom. some Catholic Charismatic members who stood against because the woman involved was their member were killed. Never heard of such again. But I think it still exists.
Not sure where it is now.
That is barbarism at its height.

How the hell is it pot calling kettle black?
I will explain to you how the heaven it is pot calling the kettle black.

when you segregate across tribal lines in Nigeria and keep looking at each other as inferior; when you use derogatory word to address people from other tribes not yours; when you believe that your tribe is superior and another inferior in whatever way, you are exhibiting your primodial instinct which is what you see in the whites and you nickname it racism.

Segegration is the same not minding where it is coming from.

That is the heaven how it is the pot calling the kettle black

when it comes to tribal, we don't see eye to eye. However Family o, Culture o, Romance o. Most of the time  wink

I don't even let Funmi get away with saying rubbish about Ekiti and we're both Yoruba. Not to talk of osisi who's from another tribe and for SOME reason always *hears* about how "dirty" Yorubas are.

when it comes to stuff like that I'm not fooled  wink

JJYOU, instead of forcing yourself to speak English. How about minding your business?
Did you see my siggy? This actually baffles me. But I have come to realise that segregationism is a premodial instinct which can needs a level of effort to suppress.

I ask us to stop calling anybody racists as it makes no sense. It is a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

@agaba123 and IBIME

I can understand the good will you have towards Obama, he is trully an inspiratonal figure, however can you point out any young intelegent capable politician in the mold of Obama strutting the political stage in Nigeria and Africa as a whole?, That's the problem you and I should be confronting .

Obama is a wonderful breath of fresh air, full of promise and the main reasons why he is so popular is because the republicans have made such a mess of things(the Economy and foreign policy) and ofcourse his race.

I am particularly happy and dimpressed that the Obama campaign organisation dsowned the fund raiser organized by you know who. we need people like that in our politics, That's my point.
I hereby nominate Samorijack for that role in Nigeria cool cool cool

MMMhhh! undecided undecided undecided undecided I'm very fussy and quite expensive, However, it's the thought that counts and matters!

My basic list:

1. Sexy lingerie - any of the ff sets:
matching bra & thong/knickers,
bustier with matching thong, suspenders & hold-ups/hosiery
naughty dressing up lingerie i.e. nurse look, secretary, gangster girl-look, policewoman, student, etc

2. sleepwear (nighties/pyjs)

I think its one of the sexiest things a man would for you. Considering all the effort he made to get yo correct sizes + he was (probably) the only male on that shop/department! awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww,

3. Please don't forget Swiss or Belgian chockies, mmhhhhhhhh

4. R.E.: French or South African champagne, oh yeah, that's me 4 now
actually, you just listed what I will do for a babe in a go. Not just any babe. But I have done it for a babe and the she did not like wearing them. That was a break up for us.

Cos not the kinda person I could roll with.
