the other photo you posted said Sprinter bus, which means no toilet in there.
There are actually stops and refreshments while the bigger buses have rest rooms.

That's a foolish response to the question but I can't say I expected much else from you. If the constitution is amended tomorrow it suddenly correc. No my governor did not complain. The governor complaining doesn't make the position correct because he's the arbiter of truth in this world. That's childish reasoning. You have my respect for finally answering the question directly.
Ok.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem? Do I need to rephrase the question for you? I asked you simple question don't run from the question or state opinions on topics you werent asked. Address the point posed before you. Why is a uniform income tax policy preferred to states constructing their own tax policies?
Because the 1999 Nigerian constitution allows it, period. This is Nigeria, not the US.

Have you paid PAYE tax in Nigeria before?

Now quit running away from the question. Why is a uniform tax policy preferred to states constructing their own tax policies?
Policies? The only tax regulated by the FGN is the PAYE portion of the Personal Income Tax. Direct assessment is determined by the individual state IRS.

Do they have a problem with it? No state has complained since 2011 till date. Why reinvent the wheel?

Instead, I would prefer to provide an enabling business environment (business tax discounts) to a potential investor who would in turn employ indigenes who will in turn remit PAYE. PAYE is directly connected to employment rate.

He who has a decent job will have no problem paying income tax. Everyone wins.

This isn't a counter argument. Tell me why the plan isn't good idea if you're capable. What's wrong with a flat tax or no income tax if the tax net is widened. Did I not mention reducing government waste which would address the recurrent expenditures?
The screenshot says it all.

1. The state cannot pay salaries and pensions without FAAC contribution.
2. The state is struggling to improve revenue drive.
3. Take a look at the IRS figures
https://www.akirs.ak.gov.ng/reports
75% of the poor IGR is from the PAYE collection.

Now compare with Ebonyi.

Akwa Ibom is the state. A low flat tax of 2.5% means you keep more of your disposable income.
The capacity of a state to drive long-term economic activity such as boosting employment and offering effective public services is often demonstrated through the amount of independent revenue it can generate.

The amount of internal revenue a state is able to generate also demonstrates its financial strength and ability to function well, independent of the allocation from the federation account, according to experts.
Take note of the following:
IGR trend
IGR vs Federal allocation
IGR per capita
Recurrent expenditure

I'd want my state to lower it or eliminate it. It will simply be replaced with a different tax.

I suggest deleting section 59 of the Constitution. After that, states will be able to have more control over their tax policy. It's singled out because of the Constitution.
This applies to the personal income tax only. What happens when the states have "control"? You want state governments to reduce it when they're struggling to raise IGR? What is the percentage contribution of PIT to the states' IGR? How effective have they been in "controlling" the other forms of taxes within their jurisdiction? We hear them penalising banks and telecom masts for non-payment of taxes.

How many persons do you think pay the actual amount of PIT as defined in the Act?

Advice the states to expand their tax base and provide tax breaks to willing investors. It doesn't have to be PAYE.

They are pro subsidy removal and since the case is in court why are they expanding the subsidy removal commitee to include teams of the "incoming administration" ? The incoming administration is subject to court judgement, nothing definite yet.

If government is a continum then there should be no need for expanding the commitee since whoever gets in to aso rock will still remove subsidy on the set of june 2023, why change the date if government is a continum?
Why not continue what Buhari started, why change it?
The 1999 constitution does not accommodate a vacuum in government.

Court case or not, the President-elect will be inaugurated on 29 May. The same applies to the Governors-elect on the same day followed by the National Assembly on the 13 June.

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has a timeline of 180 days. Assuming your candidate wins, the President-elect has the constitutional right to submit an appeal at the Supreme Court which remaining in office and enjoying all accrued benefits pending determination of the appeal.

What about the indefinite postponement of the census?
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the postponement of the 2023 Population and Housing Census, earlier scheduled for 3-7 May 2023, to a date to be determined by the incoming administration.

The president noted that with the completion of the Enumeration Area Demarcation of the country, conduct of first and second pretests, the recruitment and training of adhoc workers, procurement of Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and ICT infrastructure, appreciable progress has been made in the implementation of the 2023 Population and Housing Census.

Who is spreading fake news about suspension?
This govt is not speaking with one voice, its like this president-elect is head over heals about being president proper.
The government is speaking with one voice while the Media is making different interpretations.

According to the MFBNP, the NEC agreed that the incoming administration has a stakeholder role to play in the removal so they need to be consulted as well. The NEC also agreed that the subsidy needs to be removed as quickly as possible. In other words, the incoming administration will determine if the removal will go ahead as planned by June 2023 or be extended until the necessary measures have been put in place.

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, has said that the government did not suspend plans to remove fuel subsidies but has rather expanded the subsidy removal committee to include teams from the incoming administration and the state governors.

A statement issued by Mrs Ahmed’s Special Adviser on Media & Communications, Yunusa Abdullahi, made this known in a statement Friday.

“Against the backdrop of the story in some media that the federal government has suspended the removal of petrol subsidy, the government has said that it has not suspended the removal, but has rather expanded the subsidy removal committee to include teams from the incoming administration and the state governors,” the statement said.

I'm not talking a put federal income tax so I don't see the relevance. All federal taxes are uniform across states. Only the territories in the United States are excluded from income tax like Puerto Rico. Your point about the federal government essentially imposing a tax they do you collect is interesting. It's sensless, busybody behavior.
The competitive edge you talked about is the absence or low state tax rates. Everybody still pays a uniform federal income tax. In comparison, all the states in Nigeria have zero state income tax like Texas.

For your information many states rely operationally on the the FIRS to collect for them because they do not have the capacity to do so.
I did not anywhere mention responsibility but what happens in practice with withholding tax.
Witholding tax is different from Personal Income Tax. WHT is under the purview of the FIRS. FIRS is a member of the Joint Tax Board at the state level where they interface with SIRS to receive tax/levies due.

Gajagojo:
The main challenge is the Federal government collects PAYE on behalf of states because many do not have the capacity to do so themselves. This is a legacy of centralised military government

Every state levies a PAYE tax, aka income tax. From what I can tell, it's uniform across the various states. If that isn't the case, please correct me. Assuming its uniform between states it makes certain states less competitive when attracting businesses. If it were free for all, it would encourage more competition between states to attract talent workers and companies. Maybe some states would opt for a flat tax, other a graduated income tax and other no income tax.
I think what you failed to mention is that each person in the US pays a federal income tax in addition to the state income tax.

The US federal tax income is uniform across the states as well.

In Nigeria, we have no "state income tax" and the "federal income tax" goes directly into the states' purses.

I predict that a PDP member will accept a ministerial appointment from the incoming Government of National Unity.

https://punchng.com/tinubu-persuaded-bola-ige-to-be-obasanjos-minister-agunloye/

Is it true that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was one of those who persuaded the late Ige to take up appointment under Obasanjo?

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu played a major role in getting Uncle Bola persuaded to work with President Olusegun Obasanjo and especially to switch uncle’s preferred ministry from Communications to Power and Steel. They had strong bonds in those days while in the Alliance for Democracy.

Why do you think Tinubu wanted Ige to work with Obasanjo?

I really didn’t think it was about Obasanjo because Tinubu and Obasanjo were not the best of pals at the time. It was mostly about getting the best for Yorubaland in particular and Nigeria in general. Tinubu had very progressive views about uplifting Yorubaland and the country in general. He and Uncle Bola then struck a resonance.
