Humility017: I don't blame this players...I blame yusuf...who has not only show his ineptitude but cluelessness... and baba onigbinde wants our national teams to be handle by these local coaches... SMH. You will soon see changes with the female national side. One thing that pains me most is the unwillingness of our local coaches to learn. Yusuf is an Example. |

ChrisKels: Shehu starts on the right side of a three-man defense as a center back. Though he has a yellow card already, he has the best rating of the three CBs (Troost Ekong inclusive) so far. Agu on the other hand, starts in the DFM position. This one de sweet me. Eager to see his post match rating as a RCB. But dude is Left footed. Dude is versatile! |

Icon4s: The none qualification for the 2006 WC dealt a major blow to the popularity and followership of the Super Eagles. Then came the nick name "Super Chickens". I could beat up anybody that called the Super Eagles that name then. It was so annoying. It was a huge one. The effect still lingers till today. those players that played in that era only had one thing in their mind-how they'll get back to their clubs. They saw themselves as MERCENARIES. That attitude killed those sets. I still have friends who have not yet reconciled with the SEs. They laugh at me anytime I update my Whatsapp profile to celebrate this crop of Super Eagles. I am Still finding it hard to convince them to have a change of mind... |

Oasis007: I understand your Point Sir..... but I believe there is U23 Tournament too. The Team is called Home-based Eagles, not Eaglets Sir.
We should be watching the Lads to perhaps discover a Potential(s) who may luckily gate-crash into the Final List for the WC.
So far I'm more impressed with the No. 5 Guy! The Lad is a Gem. He's well composed and very good with both Feet. Faleye is doing fine, but he needs to be polished, hence it's too early to promote him to the main Eagles.
Sir..... this is how we do underestimate locally made Products. This is how we prefer Italian, even Chinese, made Shoes to Aba made Shoes. Let support our locally made Players, they ain't doing bad as some are making it seems.
They top the Group that has Libya in it. A North Africa Team that doesn't require time to acclimatize. They beat the real Team of Libya, not just a Team.
Please, let's appreciate them as far as they are getting the Jobs done. Sir, the mistake made was carrying these oldies to a tournament that could have served as an opportunity to raise a formidable junior team and unearth young talents with the potential of breaking into the SUPER EAGLES in the near future which would have make for our inability to qualify for any age grade tournaments in the past 3-4yrs. |

junnyjake: It takes patience and humility to watch NPFL games - Icon4s
That's where these guys are selected from, we've all been accustomed to some good football outside the country and sitting to endure 90 minutes of not so great football could be likened to torture.
We watch football to be entertained not to endure mediocrity in the name of patriotism. Poor football was one of the reasons Nigerians lost interest in the Super Eagles during the mid 2000s. In those years, the Eagles played with little or no passion. Their games was characterised with poor passes, lack of coordination etc. Many people, even close friends of mine lost interest in watching the national team play despite that they were getting the results then. They did this, not because the team lacked quality but because of the quality of football they were dishing out to people. |

The youngster doesn't even make the bench anymore. I really feel for him now. I don't have problem with his present situation. He is English and I am sure he'll get back on his feet soon. if not at Swansea, he'll easily get a loan deal at a decent side. Wishing the lad all the best. |

safarigirl: at least the ones that are playing are playing
Akpeyi is first choice in his own club
Uzoho is a regular in his
Enyeama is returning from injury and can't even get games in Lille upon all his experience, abi is the goalie playing #1 in his club more experienced than Enyeama that has been playing for 15 years?
BTW, our defence is already inexperienced as it is. We are set to go to the World Cup with a defense line that has never been to any major tournament, so, your ideology is lost on this team Rohr won't gamble with Akpeyi again and so he is presently out of the equation. Uzoho is keeping for Deport. La Coruna TEAM B. Ma'am I am done with this arguement. Na sidon look mode I de now. |

TheGoodJoe: After we qualified for the World Cup, I felt it was time for the happiness of qualifying early and the confidence in the minds of players should be knocked off.
I went on to post an article of the Power of defeat here. I wanted to see our team pummeled by a top side and then I expected the team to learn from it.
During the first half of the friendly against Argentina, I had a big smile on my face when the Argentines were Tiki takaing us. By the time it was two nil, the smile widened. I believed Rohr will have a full dossier of information to work with. I expected the game to end 4-0 or 5-0 in favor of Argentina.
After Nacho's free kick, some tweaks in our playing pattern, the result ended in our favor and I learnt a big lesson.
WE ARE UNDERRATING THE QUALITY OF OUR PLAYERS AND THE QUALITY OF THE AFRICAN SIDES WE CONQUERED.
I am now interested in seeing how the rest of our friendlies will go. there is no doubt we played and conquered Africa's Finests enroute our qualification. But comparing the quality of these Africa sides with what we're likely to face is DELUSIONAL. |

TheGoodJoe: It baffles me how some praise the standard of the World Cup and suggest the importance of quality player. Next they suggest we select players not on current quality but historical data.
If the World Cup is serious business as it is, we need the best in every role, not oldest or most invited. why are you allergic to the word Experience? I don't have concern with an inexperience attack. But I don't joke with an experienced defence. It is not even as if the present goalkeepers are first choice in their respective clubs. I don't understand the fuss around a potential return for vincent. |

safarigirl: you are not suggesting a reasonable reinforcement.
Suggesting Enyeama is like suggesting we bring back Peter Rufai
1. Both have retired from International football 2. Both are not actively playing football currently
Y'all keep saying the same thing:
- World Cup is not a joke - It is not for average goalies - it is not for small boys
The way you people are talking, it's as if this is Nigeria's first World Cup. It is on record that our best World Cup outing was with untested, average players. okay o o o. Enyeama hasn't retire yet and who says he won't get to play for his club before April... A few run of games will get him back to shape. |

Mickael2: this is the world cup, nothing is ridiculous. Do you know that some statisticians are paid thousands of US dollars to prepare teams for this mundial? Ok now what is the guarantee that Uzoho will come good? None. We can only hope for that but what if the idea behind the 6 friendlies is 'if Uzoho does not come good before then(according to the personal GK trainer's opinion)then he isn't going to come good anytime soon so best to just bring Enyeama and get him up to speed with six top matches'. Of course these are all assumptions, intelligent assumptions made off the top of my head but this is a scenario which could pan out and if Rohr is the meticulous fellow I believe he is then he is planning for such a scenario as well.
However on the other front, Enyeama's move to Angers has not gone straight through because of his wage issues. And since we still have a week plus left, the Enyeama camp is still holding out for another club. Infact Angers wasn't the first choice and the news was leaked by some section of the media which was why Enyeama gave it a second thought at all @ the bolded. This is what so many of our people have not come to understand- THE MAGNITUDE OF THE COMPETITION. There is a reason it is named THE FIFA MEN'S WORLD CUP. They keep refering to the clean sheets we had during the qualifiers. They talk about How our defence was rock solid against Africa giants which is true and no need for arguement... I am in no way discrediting the top notch performances metted out by our team during the qualifiers but we've failed to understand that the calibre and quality of players we'll be meeting at the World Cup are way too different. We will no longer be facing attacks from the Mulengas, Fashion Sakalas, Slimanis, Aboubakars of football-the opponents have changed. It'll be suicidal to pitch our defence with average goalkeepers against World Deadliest Predators. There is need for reinforcement. |

safarigirl: so, Enyeama is good at penalty kicks? Didn't they have to switch him for Aiyenugba while in Enyimba when it was time for PK? Auntie Vincent is a PK specialist. I no de get BP anytime de wan play PK against us with Vinny in goal. As long as he is in goal we have a 75-25 chance of progressing. Vincent wey go tell im mate just to make sure dem de score their own kicks and leave the rest to him. I can't even imagine seeing Ezenwa or Akpeyi in goal for Penalty shoot out. Even if vincent won't be the first choice, a place on the bench won't be a bad one and don't forget our defence will be facing World class and fiery attacks at the mundial... Therefore we need a very TESTED, RELIABLE, DEPENDABLE AND EXPERIENCED goalkeeper as the last MAN of DEFENCE. |
