BascoVanVeli: Watford Sack Isaac Success’ Manager Marco Silva After Poor Run Of Games
Kayode Ogundare
Complete Sports Nigeria
Super Eagles striker Isaac Success is set to get another manager after Watford took the decision to sack Marco Silva following a run of just one win in eleven Premier League games.
The decision came on the back of Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Leicester City which left Watford in 10th but the club points at a “significant deterioration” in the wake of Everton’s attempts to lure the manager away from the club in November as reason for the sack.
“This has been a difficult decision and one not taken lightly,” read a club statement. “The club is convinced the appointment of Silva was the right one and had it not been for the unwarranted approach by a Premier League rival for his services we would have continued to prosper under his leadership.
“The catalyst for this decision is that unwarranted approach, something which the board believes has seen a significant deterioration in both focus and results to the point where the long-term future of Watford FC has been jeopardised.
“For the security and success of the football club, the board believes it has to make a change.
“The club will seek to make a swift appointment and there will be no further comment until that appointment has been made.”
The Portuguese was among the Toffees’ primary targets after they dismissed Ronald Koeman, with the 40-year-old having presided over an excellent start to the season following his move from Hull City in May.
But Watford rebuffed the Goodison Park club’s approaches, as the Merseysiders refused to pay the reported £20million fee demanded in order to release Silva from his contract.
Saturday’s loss leaves Watford only five points above 18th-placed Southampton, who play their game in hand on Sunday.

goldfish80: Could their problem be lack of facilities? Recall their broadcast equipment was massively upgraded in 2009 for the broadcast of the U17 WC. I doubt they have auctioned off those OBB vans. come see how happy I was in 2009 when Late Umaru Yar'adua led administration got the OBS vans (9 or 10 can't recollect now) for NTA an upgrade on what they had just to enable them broadcast the 2009 U-17 World cup with ease and to meet the world standard as of then... I was so happy because I was expecting a ripple effect across TV Broadcast in the nation. I was expecting it to be the turning point for our league considering the level of investment made by the Federal Government to make the tournaments a success. But I was met with disappointment. It was really a great opportunity the then administration let slip away. I hope we get it right. |

I can't help myself but laugh out.
Faleye is now the song on everyone's lip. Thanks to his goal today.
I personally, won't be flattered with any of these boys performances. I will remain cautious and conservative about our home based players.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw some posters ranking the new boy ahead of Musa and Moses Simon.
We forget things so easily. In 2014, A certain Ejike Uzoenyi was the star boy of that CHAN team. Everyone was singing his name calling for his inclusion all because of his exploit in the CHAN tournament.
Alas, as luck will have it, he got called and made the SQUAD to brazil on the shoulder of Elderson's injury. We all saw how things paned out at the football biggest stage.
Of a truth talents abound in the local league but they remain what they are-TALENTS. Since we don't have both the human and physical resources to polish and refine these talents yet, I say we wait till they are exported abroad for refining before we make use of them.
I'll implore both the fans, media, the board to thread cautiously with the home based lads. No need to force the best player than the throat of the coaching crew which unfortunately(sorry to use this word) Salisu Yusuf is among. A single slot can be the difference @ the mundial-no room for wastage. No need to put the cart ahead of the horse. They'll have their time too in the nearest future.
Let the boys have a good outing, get them exposed and if possible sign deals outside the shore of Africa where they'll get to refine them into the jewelries we will all love to admire and adore. Then we can begin to consider them for post 2018-World Cup Super Eagles.

Abusule007: This Nigeria team lack coordination abeg. They play ball like bunch of strangers gathered together to come and play. Zambia that is playing beautiful football, are they not home base like them? Or Zambia league is better than Nigeria league. Me I'm not understanding this our players ooo.
Thank god say commentators dey address them as Nigeria home base Super Eagle. NO compare Zambia league with our league o. Dem de try for that league o. One of the best in Africa. They're ahead of us. |

tbaba1234: I disagree. Ebuehi is good enough to compete at Norwich. Benfica is better than Norwich, he will get champions league experience. I'm not saying he is not good enough to compete. I'm only trying to weigh his chances in both clubs. You and I know that he can't afford to make mistakes in England and go scot free-he won't go without getting a stick for every mistakes he commits either from the media or fans. Benfica are known for *grooming* talents. There he will have the opportunity of expressing himself while learning the rope with little or no pressure of delivering. |

komekn: Be careful are you saying that Ebuehi is not good enough for Norwich
And that he will find it a lot easier in Benfica. You know I was talking some years ago to some players at Marseille and they said they wanted to come to the EPL for the challenge, the intensity and to test themselves. oh no! He is a good player. But is overall development and progress is what matters now considering that he is just 22. The championship is physically demanding. He might struggle at first to adapt which might not be good for him. Don't forget, the English fans and media can be unforgiven as they are only result oriented. Benfica is a top team in Europe, play in more competitions than Norwich. This increases his chance of getting game time even if he doesn't break straight into the main team. |

A post made last year september AIG07: Moses will get his share of games and not only against lesser oppositions.
All New EPL comers will fizzle out by January-this is not new... All the initial gragra go don subside by then and only seasoned premier league players will still be performing.
All this Shout about Mendy, Morata, Danilo, Lacazette etc go die down soon. Watch out. Chelsea needs to re-inforce their attack if they 'll be challenging for a major trophy in England. Morata missed another clear cut chance again this evening. |

Is anyone watching Chelsea vs Norwich?
The level of competitiveness Norwich has shown is top notch matching every chelsea players man for man. The intensity of the game speaks it all. They've not taking their feet off the gas thereby forcing an equalizer in the stoppage time.
Ebuehi did himself a lot of good by not joining this side. He would have ended up on bench. The Benfica move is a Smart One. |

Oasis007: When we said Iheanacho should stay and fight for the Shirt at Leicester City, Some Dudes nearly got us lynched, coz they believe Bristol City has the best Manager in the World, in fact - Puel is a worse Manager comparing to the Bristol City Manager.
Also when we opined that Iheanacho is better off as a SS, that he would conveniently and confidently thrive in the Position, some Dudes believe he has been drilled to play as a lone Striker, hence he should continue his development as a lone Striker.
Iheanacho had a good Game because he's ready to fight, he ain't wanna run to a lower League. He knows the Match is like a Trial to him; had he played badly, he would have been on the Plane to Bristol City this Morning.
I'm really happy for him, but we need to be patient and see if he's gonna replicate the form and be consistent with it. Form ain't permanent, but class is. However, the combo of both makes you a world class Player.
Iheanacho ain't a world class Player, not even close to, at the moment. He has the potential to be, but truth has to be said; he's not and far to it for now.
Finally, to those mocking Kayode because Iheanacho had a good Game last Night, I guess you Folks have never pointed Fingers at Forgiveness as a Tribal Bigot.
Shalom. you're right Sir. He has the quality to thrive. But his major problem is his own lack of WILLINGNESS to play. He seems to have found it. I was pleased and smiled when I saw him getting is a.ss up and made the dash to the 18yard box. So many positives from last night game. Atleast he is improving. It's just a matter of time he'll come good and better. All he needs is PATIENCE as I have always said. Both on his path and the fans. |

So, no one saw that strike that deflected off a fleetwood's player after nacho's second goal. I was only wondering what could have come out of that strike if it wasn't deflected.
The most amazing part was how he lifted the ball of the feet of his marker before shooting. One word summarizes it-CONFIDENCE!
Damn it, the boy is brimming with some confidence. I won't be suprise if he gets on the scoresheet in his next game.
Feed Nacho with balls and He will convert them to Goals his GCR(Goal Conversion Ratio says it all)! |

goldfish80: Great news about Onyekuru. Since he wont be needing surgery, I figured he could be out of action maximum, 3 months. Hopefully there won't be setback or reoccurrence during rehab. I am skeptical about the possibility of the German boys being ready in time for the Poland friendly since the documentation process with FIFA and DFA haven't started. From our experience in the past, this process usually takes us 6-8 months to complete. the board might have learn't one or two lessons from their previous dealings and who says the process hasn't began since last year. Don't forget we've been hearing rumours concerning these german boys since mid-last year. Another thing is that the germans are not like the english when it comes to releasing players. So I don't see them giving us tough time in the switch thereby making it easier and faster. |

ChrisKels: It's a breaking news bro. There were doubts earlier when Onyekuru made that claim that was why his loan club came out of to rebuff it. But now it is official, after thorough checks by one of the finest knee specialists in Europe, hence no room for doubts no more and his club won't be coming out to kinda debunk it again.
Read that article via the link I provided to see the time it was written.
About the big news, here is a hint; As Rohr has adopted the 3-5-2 as one of his formations, he is looking forward to start integrating the German boys as early as March. Of the three German boys, Akpoguma and of course Uduokhai, I was told are already in the bag and this might be Rohr's backline against Poland.
....................Ekong Balogun Uduokhai ...............Ebuehi Idowu.
Awaziem and Akpoguma as deputies while Omeruo would be given another chance to know if his showing against Argentina was a fluke. Omeruo doesn't have the technical team's trust unlike before and he would do well to redeem his dampened image with the scrimmages.
Rohr has cooled the interest on Jordan Torunarigha because he hasn't been seeing enough game time and this doesn't seem to end anytime soon as he is his club's third choice left back behind Platenhardt 25 and Maxi 20. Hence isn't better than what we have in Aina, Idowu and Echiejile.
As it stands now, our three lovely right backs might make it to the world cup.
Ebuehi as a wing back cum makeshift left back Shehu as a full back Aina as a full back cum makeshift left back.
I fear for Echiejile, can't remember the last time he played for his club. If Idowu maintains the form he showed against Argentina... Ur guess is as good as mine na this news you wan share before why you come draw am like draw soup. You wicked o. Anyway it's appreciated. With this there is no way we'll be taking 4fullbacks to the world cup. The maximum will be 3 out of possible of 5 (Echiejile, Shehu, Aina, Ebuehi, Idowu). This will be a tough call for Rohr. Not forgetting that V. Moses can play as a WB. My own be se, let the best be selected and any player given an opportunity in any of the friendlies should grab it with both hands and feet as it's becoming more glaring that NO ONE HAS HOLD CLAIM TO A SLOT YET except for MIKEL OBI. |
