Goodjoe accept my condolences on the demise of your Dad. You are the man now.
Meanwhile I have to agree with you now:Gaurdiola is tactical genius. Let me exaggerate some bit:he is the Michelangelo, Da Vinci and Einstein of football rolled into one.
I don't really like him but I love his brain. thanks! On pep, I only admire the way he passes information across to his players from the sideline-nothing more. That man speaks football. Often times I wonder what he is saying sef. na only his boys understand am. Those hand gestures are hard to decipher. On Nacho, that boy has talent but I think he is a slow learner and that has been his undoing. He finds it hard to adopt and adapt to new system as quick as possible. He tried so hard to learn pep's philosophy but while doing so he was unlearning some football basics. He either needs to move to a club that plays to his strength or better still be patient where he is and master their own way of doing things. I believe he'll surely come good. |

We don't have an automatic birth data capture here in Nigeria; That's shameful.
Anything can happen, this isn't about him being obsessed with the white skin or English system. I thought Komekn's perception about an average Nigerian hast changed. Well, he is entitled to his opinion. One thing is certain-despite the level of corruption in the country, it still doesn't make all Nigerians fraud. Those boys I saw in the picture that raised this age cheat dust are well below 13. Look at their height, facial appearance-those kids look innocent. It will even be hard to find one of them who is already in senior high school... We have overflogged this matter and it has tainted our image globally. Make im cut us some slack joor... |

Having gone through some pages, I've decided not to draw us back into old and dusted arguements so we won't go round in cycles though I have some reservations to some opinions here like the recall of Old/retiring legs to KC's hibernating career and the call for Alloy's head. Danycrusoe: Bro make I no lie u, I m not really good at discussing football tactically and analytically, reason is because 1) I am not always opportuned to see games frequently, Nigerian matches are the few ones I see on a frequent basis 2) I watch to entertain myself most of the times .
however I really want to go deep into tactical discussions but I find it hard to do and that's y I always watch others do it in order to learn.
before I only knew 4 departments on the field of play which is GK Defence Midfield and Attack now I know the sub departments like DM AM CF WF LB RB and some others. I v learnt a lot from this thread even more than playing Play Station has taught me.
I really value the contributions of Kog45 Tbaba Icon4s, please where is Joseph the founder of this thread he also is a member of the honourable elders, someone who has slotted into this thread without any look of a newcomer is soetanoreoluwa, I like his contributions too AiG07 where at thou, in fact everyone on this thread is great I appreciate always being here. Mickael2: he believes in one touch football, the only game we played one touch football was against Zambia back then, that means the players are not playing to the coach's instruction, why? Because the coach has been unable to pass his philosophy across? Why? Because he is not tactically gifted.
I like the way he goes about his job, letting the players do what they know(I mean till today Moses and Simon still run around like headless chicken) but I won't call him what he is not, and he isn't tactical laughing. They won't listen to you and if they do they won't agree. Rohr is a good coach with some great managerial skills but lacking tactical wise. He therefore needs assistance which Salisu Yusuf may not be to render.. The earlier we admits this the better for us. Na siddon look mode I de now. I no go talk this matter again. Iwobi's goal did save us some blushes. What would have happened if we were unable to get that goal after Iwobi's substitution or better still we went down by a goal immediately he was brought on? |

Having seen the provisional 30-man squad list folks have been drawing up, I am also tempted to draw out mine. But had to refrain as so many things can occur between now and MAY 2018. Players can experience dip in form, injury can set in and so many other factors.
Well, as we are still in the euphoria of qualifying for the world cup, I'll highlight the provisional team list of our last two outings i.e 2010 and 2014 respectively, as I will love us to compare the depth and qualities of players we've sent to the mundial in recent time with the present pool of players who are likely to make the list...

The major bane of our national team players is Lack of Composure.
Prior to Iwobi's introduction we struggled to string passes. We missed clear, half and quarter chances. Onazi Ndidi just kept clearing the ball- The two Moses, Mikel and Ighalo's decisions and decision making were bad and too slow respectively. Our set pieces wasn't even that threatening and so on.
playing a possessive game should solve this! Gradual building of play will make things easier. |

junnyjake: Someone did half the job by getting the ball to him, Yaks had to do the other half by tucking the ball in. That to me was half - chance. laughing was just playing... I get you |

junnyjake: Maybe, our definition of Half-chances are different. To me none of the chances Ighalo missed were half. The goal Yaks missed at the 2010 WC - That's what I call a half - chance.
His decision making can be better; he could have been faster granted. But I'd tell you, he had a fair game. It's not today we've seen world class strikers arriving late for a tap-in.
Iwobi had no reason to trap that ball before shooting, those were two different scenarios, from a square play, no reasonable player or even a goal keeper would have any option than taking it one-time.
Look at Ighalo's position again, I would have expected him to be on his heels in anticipation, from that position the only thing he could have done was bring the ball forward before shooting with his left. The defender would have still caught up with him. The point is He wasn't well balanced to take the shot with his weaker foot.
If iheanacho was at the opposite side of the box, we all know he'd cut it back so he can take the shot with his left.
Don't also forget, Samuel Adegbenro scored a goal from that position for his club - Rosenberg, he had to cut back and still had to get rid of another player before he could score, all of us here applauded him and some went as far as comparing the goal Okocha scored against Oliver Khan while he was at Frankfurt.
Many are even putting up a case for his exclusion from the WC list, 1 goal and 1 assist in 3 games is suddenly not good enough.
B4 the SA game I had called on Rorh to bench iheanacho for Ighalo, You need to see the way I was attacked, saying I was just being sentimental, we see what layer happened and how the game went and how everyone were singing his praises, now with the Zambian game, he's not good enough for us. I think Thegoodjoe and the supernerd were the ones who came for me then. Yak's miss wasn't an half chance that was a WHOLE CHANCE. The guy only had the goal line to beat. Still he decided to send the ball back to where it was coming from. Even the South Koreans(our opponent) were suprised at that miss.

Mujtahida: October 11, 2017 ROHR: SUPER EAGLES DON’T HAVE WORLD CLASS GOALKEEPER, ENYEAMA MUST EARN RECALL
By Richard Jideaka, Abuja: https://i1.wp.com/www.completesportsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/Rohr.jpg
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has admitted that his biggest problem during the chase for a World Cup ticket has been that of goalkeeping, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Super Eagles secured a Russia 2018 ticket on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Zambia in Uyo with Ikechukwu Ezenwa in goal.
“I don’t have a world class goalkeeper now but we’ll go with what we have,” Rohr told Completesportsnigeria.com in Abuja.
However, Rohr also has nice words for FC IfeanyiUbah’s Ezenwa who stepped in during the home win over Cameroon and has conceded only one goal in three games.
“Ezenwa is progressing so much that in the past few weeks he is becoming a very good goalkeeper and that is why he kept in the games against Cameroon and Zambia. He is a goalkeeper much stronger than before, we shall have to see what will happen in the next few months,” Rohr added in the interview with Complete Sports.
“It is a very important position for any team. For the moment, we are very happy about the performance of Ezenwa. He has suddenly become an important member of the squad and we would keep working on him and see how how it goes.”
Rohr commended the Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick who brought up the idea to get an additional goalkeeping coach to team up with Alloy Agu and work on the available goalkeepers.
“One moment, (Vincent) Enyeama was out, Carl Ikeme was sick, (Daniel) Akpeyi was injured, so we had to play with our fourth goalkeeper. And what we decided was a brilliant idea from the President who told me since we don’t have another goalkeeper, let us hire another coach for goalkeepers even though the one we have is a very good one in Agu to complement each other,” Rohr revealed.
Asked if Enyeama, who voluntarily retired from the national team, and Ikeme were still in his World Cup plans, Rohr said he is not sure of Carl Ikeme but said he is in good communication with Enyeama. He however pointed out that Enyeama, who has been released by Lille and recovering from a long-term injury, must first find another club, be fit and play regularly to get a recall to the Super Eagles.
“We go to World Cup with the best players. Only players who are in good spirit, I mean the spirit of quality, hard work, respect, dedication and togetherness. Nigerians close to Vincent and other Source:https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/rohr-super-eagles-dont-world-class-goalkeeper-enyeama-must-earn-recall/ Thank God baba Rohr too knows this. Earlier today, I stated the obvious that our goalkeeping department still need a tested, trusted and reliable pair of hands. All this 'operation python jump'(in thegoodjoe's voice) Ezenwa is doing may cost us against top sides. One moment of lost of concentration may be catastrophic! |

Mujtahida: Was Matuidi taking out Onazi intentional as in premeditated like he was acting based on instruction? I'll say yes. It seems to be a tactical one. Cos Onazi kept recieving some hard tackles till he was finally injured. How they did it without getting even a yellow card still baffles me till now. |

Mujtahida: Iwobi chose us because England stopped calling. His Dad said choosing Nigeria is the best choice they ever made and that he played some football back in Nigeria with ambition to don the green and white but that dream was never to be and so that the day Iwobi made his debut he(the Dad) wept tears of joy for his son reaching heights he could not reach, doing what he wished he did but couldn't do. In all honesty none of them will ditch their adopted countries for Nigeria. However like Alex's Dad said with us they have better opportunities. Do you think Iwobi would be making it with the three Lions as he's been doing for the Eagles? with his rise, He will definitely make up their squad numbers and have some share of games. |

Joebie: Oga, Victor Moses's importance/role in that team is crystal clear for anyone who watches even one of our matches. Rohr is just saying the obvious. I like Rohr's spirit. He knows we have to even improve to do well in Russia. I'm am totally confident in Rohr. yes I get you Sir. But V. Moses isn't Messi or Ronaldo. Truly everyone knows how important he is to the team, but rohr coming out to say that he'll be your joker has gone to far. All what our opponents will be after is shutting him up or better still take him out of the equation. Don't forget Onazi in the last worldcup. The french spotted him as the smallest rudder turning the entire engine. They took him out and we collapsed. |

jotey: I don't think so
he already said he's ready to accept Mikel as the capo we really need him. I'm sure he won't have issue with Mikel's captaincy. Overlooking Mikel was one of the reason he fought with Oliseh. After watching some highlights of goals scored in the last WCQs matches, I must confess that we need a tested, trusted and reliable hand in goal. Ezenwa, Akpeyi, Alampasu, Ajiboye are good but we'll be better with Enyeama even as a sub |
