Good folks are churning out their starting eleven not excluding TheGoodJoe himself...
I'm so suprised that TheGoodJoe now TheFunnyJoe has also decided to drop his favorite laundring business of 'pressing' for athletism. But why did it took him so long to know that the pressing gadget he has always fancy was never designed to press.
Chai what a great victory for our man THEGOODJOE winning his old self(laughs). Thank goodness he has finally seen the light.

Here we go again...
We should be prepared to see Akpeyi in goal.
Kenneth has fallen in the pecking order.
J. Mikel the general is back from chi-land.
Ighalo is back-it's now or never. Hmmm... Kayode is missing-Rohr decides.
Moses Simon again?-full of running and dribbling but poor crossing same story goes for his twin brother Musa.
Hope our defenders stay fit.
Good list by the way. |

TheGoodJoe: Pellegrini prefers direct play over unnecessary show of skills. The skipping of players was under Patrick Vieira. It is change of style to suit Pellegrini's fast direct passing system. Not coaching the skills out of Nacho and certainly not Pep.

BascoVanVeli: Isaac Success is still adapting to the Premier League believes Watford head coach Marco Silva
By Hertfordshire Mercury | Posted: August 19, 2017 | By Matt Storey
Marco Silva believes Watford winger Isaac Success is still adapting to the rigours of the Premier League.
The Nigerian was the Hornets' record signing when he joined from Granada last summer, but, barring a couple of strong showings against Bournemouth and at Middlesbrough, struggled for much of his debut season.
Injury did play its part and sidelined Success just as he looked to be finding his best form, once he returned, though, he found chances limited.
Walter Mazzarri felt the 21-year-old was not professional enough and needed to improve his attitude.
It resulted in regular, brief substitute appearances during the second half of the season and Success has not been involved in a matchday squad since the defeat to Everton on May 12.
If Watford fans though Success' future was up in the air after his omission against Liverpool and having started just two league games since his move, Silva played down the possibility of him leaving.
"This situation: He's a young boy and boy who needs to adapt to this football," Silva explained, "and to our ideas as well.
Isaac Success celebrates his only Watford goal against Bournemouth last October
"We tried to put that to him as soon as possible because he's one player we believe in as a project - as a Watford project.
"Until now I don't have a decision. He stays with us, he works hard and tried to find his space in the team. It's what I want him to do."
Silva was asked whether reports of Success leaving the club were true and batted them off straight away.
Adding: "It surprises me, this. Until now I haven't spoken with anybody about the situation."

goldfish80: You cant even back up your argument with proper data. I have always said skills have been coached out kelechi at Man city having watched him closely for 2 years. Icon4s can recall when I said this a long time ago. This afternoon when I looked at his stats, it confirmed my thoughts. Kelechi as a matter of FACT is one of the worst dribblers in the present Super Eagles team. I can say this before any oracle, I have the evidence. Not only his dribbling ability has been coached out. His first touch nose dived from good to worst... The kelechi we knew was even skipping past players while playing in the EDS. He was even amazing during pelle's reign at the main team and then he was no where close to the national team. His stint under Guardiola would have been termed a wasted years. But thank Goodness he has learn't sport dietary, when and how sleep, etc of it likes. I only hope he can rediscover his old self and once again relaunch his career. Cos in modern day football you are as good as your last game. |

kennysville: I see folks talk about power vs skill. Hmmmm. I think we need a blend of both and here is how I look at it. The three main aspects of a team is attack, midfield and the defence. In the attack department, we need both power and skill. We dont want players who get marked out or bullied relying only on skill. It also depends on the formation we are playing. A 4-2-3-1 will mean we have a bull with brains as 9 and foxes as the 3 players behind the lone striker. A 4-4-2 will imply having both a bull and a fox as strikers while we have speedsters with quality delivery on the wings. (Not ahmed musa kind of delivery please!)
In the midfield, we need a super midfielder to run things. one that is skilled in the art of threading killer passes and has absolute concentration at all times paired with an equally gifted but physical holding midfielder. The central defender is definitely power and not skill as they can be muscled off the ball easily if we play skill. It can be costly playing skill in the defence. Power too in the defence can be dangerous but at least all aerial balls are gonna be taken care of.the wing backs need to be a blend of both power and skill to make quality decisions when under pressure.
Therefore in view of up coming match, we shouldnt be too afraid of cameroon. More importantly, we should play our game and blend together as a team regardless of whatever formation is being employed. The objectives of the coaching crew need to have been met in training and executed to perfection on match day. End of story! Question is what is our game plan? wa gbayi baba! |

Danycrusoe: I wish we could v a good university league for team sports like football rugby basketball in Nigeria just like they do in SA n the US, this will not only develop our sports but engage our students nd save them from cultism n becoming political thugs and in fact it will help in reducing unemployment rate amongst graduates as some of these guys will be noticed n signed into various professional teams and leagues. there are many advantages of something like this but unfortunately we value never had a sports minister who haf tot of something like this.
our ASUU and Asup games are just mere jamboree that v little significance Great one there! But the bulk of the problem with our sport lies with those at the helm of affairs. I often wonder of what use are those folks to the general development of sports in this country. While watching the just concluded IAAF, i was so suprised when I saw some african 'Minors' taking the stage by storm and showing the stuff they've-but my dear Nigeria was at the back door seeking who to blame for it woes. One thing that caught my attention was the US team. Majority of those in from that team are university undergraduates mostly from Oregon... Then I asked myself why we can't unhearth talents across the country when we have sports programmes like NUGA(if them still de do am) for schools. It's really pathetic. The country is in a sorry state. |

Last minute Penalty. chai where is Sir. Bascovanveli the defenders of Home based footballers-oya show face see their life. This loss is psychological... They went for a draw(that is the typical mindset of an average NPFL player) they believe that there is no way they can win an away game. I was never in support of us using Npfl players-academy boys and an average non league players would have deliver a victory in this match. The saddest point is that they've been in camp and training for 2wks now. Well, no cause for alarm. We'll win in kano. Those boys know how to do that but am afraid it might just be a slim one either 2-0, 3-1 or 2-1(God forbid) |

Humility017: I remember some words of Babatunde Michael sometime ago.... shortly after he signed for Raja Casablanca of Morocco... he openly said...the extra 2-3 hours he spent daily on individual training is paying off...and such was the reason for his eye catching displays... and truly the dude was playing well then...good assists and goal scoring improvements.... to my surprise...he only end signing for a team in Qatar...probably the smell of the arab money attracted him there.... the reason for the story is to tell that....individual training and extra efforts pays.... few footballers I have always come across....I always tell them this...if they must reach the zenith of the career they must be disciplined and go the extra mile to grow and develop themselves in the round leather game... EXACTLY! |

The painful part is that such attitude mask their potentials in the early stage of their careers. The pissing part is that Nigerian players get satisfied easily as long as they are professional player. These guys need to be hungry! Hungry for more-that's the only way to stay top and ahead of one's peer. |

Icon4s: If Iheanacho is to be featured as a CF the number of games he would sit on the bench In Leicester would be worse than what it was at City. Sebi na when Aguero they get injure Iheanacho Dey sometimes see game. Vardy is always as fit as a horse. He plays almost every game for Leicester. Okazaki is also in a blistering form.
The long balls kind of game may not particularly suit Iheanacho as he has issues with his first touches. He is also not as pacy as Okazaki. Leicester does not typically play short 1-2 passes something Iheanacho is good at.
Well, my own is if you cannot outshine players like Okazaki and Vardy at Leicester City then you are not worth the hype after all. Period! This is his chance to prove his mettle. Nacho's best bet is playing behind vardy. I don't see Okazaki as threat to him. All he has to do is to score more than Okazaki(which I'm sure he'll.) I see him claiming d starting shirt after their EFL cup next 2wks. |
