Leicester City Overtake West Ham In Race For Iheanacho, Man City Demand N11.4 Billion

https://allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/32578Kelechi.jpg

Leicester City have leapfrogged West Ham in the race to sign Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho, according to reports.

The Telegraph is reporting that Iheanacho and Swansea's Gylfi Sigurdsson are on the wishlist of Foxes manager Craig Shakespeare.

It has been claimed that Manchester City have upped their asking price for the Nigerian to £25 million (around N11.4 billion) and want a buy-back clause in any deal taking him out of the Etihad Stadium.

Iheanacho has been declared surplus to requirements by manager Pep Guardiola, but he is open to idea of remaining in the Premier League despite interest from abroad.

The 20-year-old Iheanacho, who scored seven goals last season, is under contract with City until the summer of 2021.

A move to Leicester will be a great one.

I see him playing behind Vardy in a 4-4-2 set up.

Most of the names you put up there na from my Pop man and Austin Milado's song I heard them.

But on a more serious note, I think the NFF should create, have and run documentaries of Nigeria football since inception. Put them on youtubes, play them on NTA sports channels(instead of all this olympic reshow those one de show) and other stations. This will help us alot. Tell us where we were coming from, the huge sacrifice some have made to reach where we are and lots more.

Come on Collin. The old Center forward. Really? We have seen teams do well without the old center forward style of play and maybe you are yet to notice that playing an old center forward requires a team reducing building from the back and relying on long balls.

That is defending deep and lounging the ball to a huge man to hold and distribute it.

This is more of a call in change of style and the question is that, are you sure the Ideye and Ighalo can offer more than we have at our disposal?

If that is the case, bring them to camp, screen and drill. If they come up tops, they have my nod but if they do not beat Osimhen in camp, it is a disservice to ourselves dropping a promising youngster with huge talent and better quality for old legs.

The press have destroyed a lot of progress in Nigerian football with their rigorous calls for old legs and shortsightedness. Rohr has moved the team forward in a short time. Give the man time to work before tearing down his structure.

Yes we need players that love to play for Nigeria. Because when problems come players are the first that can be affected psychologically. Well the game at hand is Cameroon. Many of us will resume the arguments once again as regards player selection. In football, 1+1 is hardly 2. Which is why we have to take every situation differently. We lost the South Africa game for many reasons than one or just two. I'm really hoping that Rohr will be more tactical going forward. And will do LOTS of studying the opponent.

I just watched the Senegal-Nigeria friendly again, because I think that match is one we have to look at in planning to play Cameroon. Football is a science. Your best players will not necessarily play well in every match they feature. Cameroon is a very physical side. they are big and also robust. They can convert half chances in forwards like Vincent Abubakar. Why your favorite player could be very good in his own right, he may be reduced to nothing against an opponent like Cameroon.

I think we have put so much weight on players like Iheanacho and Iwobi prematurely. Let's be realistic to realize that these players have not FULLY established themselves in Europe with lots of TOP games under their belt. While they have a very bright future, they are not reliable starters especially against Cameroon.

Let's continue the debate constructively with our next opponent in mind devoid of favoritism.
True talk!

The 2013 AFCON tittle wouldn't have been possible if not for the input of the technical committee.
Durring the Maigari era, they held meetings every month. This snowballed into our success in South Africa and a smooth world cup qualification.

Leaving too much power and decision in the hands of Rohr is not ideal. Arsenal is a good example of a team suffering due to too much power of decision vested in the hands of one man since David Dein left.
i'm not against it Sir. But you know the Nigeria factor will always set in in such set-ups.

Which Afcon'13 and world cup'14? Our performance in those tournaments was due to individual brilliancies from the coach down to the players... Cos if I recall, the squad we took to those tournaments were far from the best we had as at that time.

England's Young Lions can handle the Golden Generation tag - Abraham

England Under-21 striker Tammy Abraham insists the Young Lions can handle being called the next Golden Generation.
The 19-year-old is confident Aidy Boothroyd's youngsters are ready to take the spotlight following the Under-20s' World Cup triumph on Sunday.
Paul Simpson's side were crowned world champions after a 1-0 win over Venezuela, with the Under-21s now aiming to echo their success at Euro 2017 in Poland.
The previous group named the Golden Generation included David Beckham, Frank Lampard, Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney but never got past the quarterfinal stage of a major tournament.
Chelsea forward Abraham is preparing for Friday's tournament opener against holders Sweden in Kielce and believes the new crop can cope if they are given the same nickname.
He said: "We definitely can handle that tag. We have guys who are talented, can work hard and have everything. It's just about blending in and becoming one, not just thinking about yourself.
"They did the country so proud and we would love to follow in their footsteps by winning the Euros. Obviously being the Under-21s we want to show we are the next up and coming players for the England squad, so there is a bit of pressure.
"But then we have some amazing lads, so we think we can go far as well. We can't have them bragging they won and we didn't!''
Abraham, who has been linked with a loan move to Newcastle or Brighton, was eligible for Simpson's Under-20s squad but was selected by Boothroyd for Euro 2017 after scoring 26 goals on loan at Bristol City last season.
He could have been a world champion but is determined to focus on succeeding in Poland with the Under-21s.
Abraham, who will wait until after the tournament to decide his future, said: "Yes it's bittersweet, it's true. It's a great achievement. I'm sure they're proud of themselves.
"The whole country is proud of them. They deserved to win it. But obviously I'm here to win the Euros and we've got a lot of good players, so we're in with a chance.
"A lot of the boys watched the whole game at St George's Park after training. I'm proud to have helped them get to the tournament, of course, but obviously I'm so proud to be here as well.
"Hopefully what I've done all season is paying off and we can win the tournament. The boys are buzzing.
"It's massively inspiring. We're going into a massive tournament now with the Under-21s and it would be nice to end it on a blast. The boys are confident.
"We've had a great season. We just want to top off with a win. Some of the lads have played in the Premier League, in top teams, we have an amazing team. Hopefully we can show that. We're all excited and we just have to prove it.''

Tammy Abraham is already talking about being part of the golden generation of England players. Seriously, the way people talk up the prospects of some of these players dumping European countries for Nigeria perplexes me.

Is it that we haven't learnt from previous experiences that Nigeria will never be considered if such player is in the ascendancy with top career prospects.

Let's continue making derogatory comments about our home grown players and league while talking up the chances of Nigerians abroad to make babies who will represent us. Let's continue deluding ourselves.

If Tammy dumps England for Nigeria, I will quit my job and become a Thai monk for a year.

The highlights of the NFF technical committee were as follows;
1.Coach Rohr match day squad will be vetted by the technical committee. He must give reasons why each player was selected.
2.Only after the technical comtee are satisfied with the match day squad before the match day squad team list will be made public.
3.Coach Rohr will make the match day squad team list public before journalist in a press conference.
4.Coach Rohr will answer questions raised by journalists in the press conference. He will defend why he selected his players.
5.A thorough search for better goalkeeper for all our national team has began. They are not satisfied with the choice of some gk when the need arises.
with these resolutions coming from the NFF our football might be heading south!

My question is who are folks in technical committee? Are they even technically sound? If yes, do they have the progress of our football in mind or they are after their pockets?

Because me I'm afraid of lobbying and corruption from this group of people calling themselves football technocrats... which we've seen before and once again letting it ruin and set fire on the only thread bonding this nation-FOOTBALL.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by AIG07: 6:08pm On Jun 13, 2017
After reading through some posts made after our match. This are my deductions...

1. Certain school of thought believes that 70-80% of the players in the team are just average and the team needs overhauling...

2. The other school of thought have the notion that the team's recent lackluster performance was due to the coach crew ineptitude and there is need reshuffling if we must go forward.

I am always of the opinion that a manager shouldn't change a winning team anyhow no matter the pressure be put on him. If there is need for an upgrade then the maximum number of new players to be called shouldn't exceed 3-4 new players no matter the number of players outperforming the regulars unless such coach is ready to sacrifice his team chemistry and understanding both on and off the pitch which same rules should be extended to starting line-up selection. But I was laughed @ this group of folks keep comparing club football with international football-both are way different...

This same set of people have been calling for the national team coach to quickly adopt the 3-4-3 formation cos it's the rave of the moment and most coaches are using it citing club examples thinking that we have players who can easily adopt and prosecute the new 3-man defence formation(MOSES AND ECHIEJILE were the players to be deployed to WBs)- I laugh. Just a slight deviation from our usual tactics of 4-2-3-1(4-5-1) to 4-3-3 formation with 4 defenders cost us dearly. how much more if we played 3 men at the back...
*NATIONAL TEAM FOOTBALL NEEDS MORE DISCIPLINE(tactical wise) COMPARE TO WHAT YOU CAN HAVE IN YOUR WEEK TO WEEK CLUB FOOTBALL cos no room for mistakes and I'll keep saying it we only have 4-6 of such players...

Finally to those saying our players are been overhyped, I haven't seen any OVERhyping here. Truth be said our media have been falling short in promoting our football both home and abroad. Hyping a player is an attribute of any typical football fan.

My question is "IF WE DON'T PRAISE OUR OWN, Who will ? The europeans , SAs, Asians, even the NAs do the same. Or haven't you heard of one certain Ordegard he was praised to the high heavens by european medias tagging him a future Ballon d'or winner without kicking a ball yet. Same goes with young sterlin, sanogo, Martial and other recent ones...
*IT IS NOW LEFT TO THESE BOYS TO LIVE UP TO THIS GREAT EXPECTATIONS FANS ARE PUTTING ON THEM* but to shut up is to make the outside world believe that we lack talents and qualities in football in Africa.

I'll need to stop here. *Other things calling.

After going through kinds of comment and posts both here and other threads, I see how impatient Nigerians can be.

Some folks are already calling for the head of the coach. Truth be said he got it wrong yesterday but cut him some slack- atleast close to 4 of our regulars weren't available for the match. Some were even saying he lacks the quality to lead us forward- I laugh. How quick we forgot that it was this same man who brought our football out of mess(70position in Fifa ranking)

I was so happy we lost last evening... Winning with such performance would have spelt doom cos everybody including the coach will by now be carried away with the victory.

I implore our coaches to throw the nets wider so we can always have the best crop of Eagles. He seem to be succumbing to external pressure. The call for home based stars was too early. The slot given to them could 've given us chance to access other players.

Yes, the players just needed to pass the ball around faster than they did, to not give the opponent too much time to time to sit back and defend. Then the flanks were not used enough. When they used them the crosses were poor. No single set-piece resulted in anything tangible. As an Arsenal fan I have seen these kind of scenarios play out a thousand times. There is always one way out - quick, precise and direct football. It looks to me like the coach is tired of coaching our team and he wants to be fired.

I believe I have agreed with you more times than I have not. In this one also, I do.
These players have strengths and weaknesses. And that's Rohr's job to do. Studying them and bringing them together to work as a unit based on their qualities. No wonder it's called chemistry, because in actual Chemistry you have to mix substances at the right amounts to produce the desired result. Here, Rohr needs to improve.

I personally think we need less individualized players in the team. For me, my forwards will have an above 70% success rate of completing a good pass to their fellow forwards. I will only allow one slot for an individualistic player. And he has to be very very very good, especially his finishing. Osihmen is warming up. Kelechi is already there. If Success can get back to his best. He would complete the perfect pair.

Musa is good in his own right. He plays best as a 9. But not good enough as a 9. Sounds contradictory but true. Moses Simon should never start. I don't care about his trickery. we need delivery
you killed it with that part on Simon. You are simply right. He had no delivery today.

No Excuse!

* We got it wrong from the word GO. Our tactics was not the best for our players. I never bought the 4-3-3 formation. Iwobi and Moses simon ain't suitable for that formation. You only use that kind formation when you have V. Moses and Musa who can invert n play wide.

*Ndidi and Onazi could have been ask to stay back and shield the defence in our usual 4-2-3-1 allowing Iwobi to marshall the midfield-he could have architected a goal. While Etebo moves to the flank

* Bringing out Nacho was a mistake-he could have been deploy behind Kayode -HE STILL REMAINS OUR BEST BET OF Getting a Goal

*Mikel was greatly Missed- No replacement for him yet. Same goes for V. Moses, Balogun and Ikeme

*Starting Awaziem was a great gamble that cost us.

Finally this team needs a 'SAFE PAIR OF HANDS' #BRINGBACKENYEAMA!
