joxxy01: Bafana coach Baxter ropes in Manchester United scout to spy on Nigeria
The former England Under-19 coach says Bafana will be quite well prepared for the Super Eagles on the 10th of June 2017 New South Africa coach Stuart Baxter has roped in a Manchester United scout to spy on the Nigerian squad in the French capital city, Paris. The British tactician, who was re-appointed earlier this month, will be in charge of Bafana Bafana against the Super Eagles next month. Nigeria are currently camping in Paris ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier which will be played in Uyo. “I’ve had probably three days away from SuperSport, where I have put my Bafana hat on, and I’ve gained some intelligence on Nigeria‚” Baxter told the media.. “I’ve got the Manchester United scout who’s helping us in Paris," he continued. "Nigeria are playing Corsica at the Ajaccio Stadium in Corsica‚ and against Togo in Paris – and they’re being watched there," Baxter added. “I’ll get reports on that. I’ve got video footage‚ I’ve got reports‚ I’ve got the coach’s [Gernot Rohr] background," he added. "So by the time we come to the event, we’ll be quite well-prepared," Baxter concluded.

On the quality of the age grade competitions, I think FIFA itself is the one killing it. The glamour that comes with it is far fading away.
As Sir. Dedebanky85 stated, the SA n Europe are not only denying/holding their best legs to these grade competitions. They are also denying wonderful talents from other continents plying their trade in their respective local clubs in europe. These clubs keep saying these age-grade tourneys are not FIFA recognize or so.
The power these continental federations are getting most especially UEFA is getting much and if nothing is done to curb their rudeness and gragra it'll affect and hurt World National Football as a whole cos one day de will grow in strength and over turn FIFA itself. The last AFCON is an example. So many players invited declined and refused to play simply because the season is on.
It's either Fifa cancels these tournaments or shift their dates to favour the european football calendar(which will be unfair to other continents/countries which their football league season does not correspond wit the europeans) or perhaps enforce/make new rules to always force these clubs to release any player no matter who he is anytime he is called for an international assignment simply by making those competitions FIFA RECOGNIZED.
For example, to me d last olympic wasn't competitive enough. The only team that was able to feature their best legs was Brazil(the host nation) other teams were just there. The world couldn't see Our own boys too. Unlike what we had in the past.
I just hope something is done or else things will start getting worse. Look at the date slated for this year's champions league final June 3. When everybody knows that club activities end in europe with uefa final at most by May 31 and season break begins June 1... Awon Ologbonkogbon Mtcheew |

Joebie: I agree there are other factors.. The MLS as well is devided into two conferences. I think it would be good for the NPFL. Then we can have a super 6 to decide the league winner etc
MODIFIED why can't club sides travel way ahead of their fixture? yes dat's what de do. Don't forget the means of transportation de often use is road. They spend hours like 7-9 hours in some cases they'll have to spend a night to rest before resuming their journey the following day.e.g lag to kano is more than 12-15hours drive(moving on poor roads) putting in mind that the gaps between these fixtures are barely up to 3days... |

Joebie: thenff.com
account suspended.. this is a disgrace oh..
Meanwhile, I think the realistic results across Nigeria on Sunday may be due to the recent resolution made by the LMC and representative of the clubs to tackle home crowd trouble. Referees are beginning to feel safer. Maybe oh. well you might be right. But one thing that i'm sure is that the numbers of away wins will reduce and hey don't think i'm been pessimistic it's just the truth. I wasn't even suprised with the result cos it was an expected one. Reason because the league has just resumed and the players are refreshed. Crowd violence is not the major cause of away loss or draws we do see across all venues(north, central, south, east and west) as 'most' crowd violence is known to come from the north. This numbers you see will begin to reduce when fatigue starts to set in as the league progresses most likely in the next 3-4wks. The rigor in which these players undergo is overwhelming. Imagine a team in lagos that just played on sunday traveling to maiduguri/kano to play on wednesday by ROAD... What miracle do you want them to do there. We shouldn't be expecting any different result as long as these teams keep travelling long distances by road. The NNL has greatly improved in term of result been churned out weekly simply because of the regional system(norther and southern conferences) been used-sir Dannycrusoe can attest to this. The proximity of venues has greatly help these players to stay fresh for a long time. No sane host crowd will interfere with the match when they see their guest outplaying and scoring them. |

TheSuperNerd: Mainz Defender Balogun Doubtful For Corsica Friendly After Suffering Thigh Injury
https://allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/25033Balogun.jpg
The Super Eagles might be without the services of Leon Balogun for their forthcoming international friendlies against Corsica (May 26) and Togo (June 1) in France due to injury.
The right fullback had to replaced after 18 minutes in the Bundesliga clash between Cologne and Mainz at RheinEnergieSTADION on Saturday afternoon.
The initial prognosis is that Balogun sustained a thigh injury which might keep him on the sidelines for at least two weeks. In the coming days, the Nigeria international will be subjected to tests to determine the severity of his injury and the time frame for his return to training.
William Troost-Ekong, Uche Agbo and Chidozie Awaziem are the remaining central defenders named in Nigeria's roster for the friendlies with Corsica and Togo.

Mickael2: me I don't understand some people here. judging by your assumption Gomez should still be a starter for Germany because he was there when they won the world cup. Rohr already has a winning team? what have we won? you guys don't seem to understand the meaning of a winning team, we have won just three matches and when we forced a tough opposition against Senegal we didn't win, we don't have a winning team yet,we are still trying to build one. If someone is not performing for his club then he will not perform for his country that's simple logic and it is usually correct, Genk that will probably not win the Belgian league thrashed Tottenham but hey you want to assume that Henry has been playing against amateurs in the Belgian league. Ndidi came into the national team and started performing instantly, I guess people like you will still want onazi to start ahead of Ndidi the examples you listed above does not support your claim. 1. M. Gomez was not part of the all conquering german side that won the world cup. By the way he is no longer a starter/regular cos he has passed his prime. 2. W. Ndidi never walked into eagles starting line-up despite his outstanding performance in the belgian league before moving to the EPL(not saying the belgian league is backward). He featured mostly as a sub prior to our last game against senegal. The funniest part was that he started alongside Onazi. Bottomline: no matter a players blazing performance in club football, he'll always be gradually introduce into the national set up. Or y do u think Rohr had to start a match rusty Kelechi ahead of Kayode?. So it is not matter of prefering one player to another on sentimental bases man as you stated. Look the era whereby a new invitees(the onobi's, igboun of this world) just walk into the team and gets automatic shirts is gone. Or probably you're been confused with what making a Starting Line-up and making match day squad means. |

Mickael2: well he hasn't played for the Eagles yet so how come you've dismissed his chances? Judging purely on present form he is playing better than Nacho assuming we want to play him as our CF, and he is definetly doing better than Iwobi if we want to play him there. If he comes and he disappoints then we will see and judge, simple I am not saying Henry will be a disappointment like wise not dismissing his chances but we need to be cautious and lower our expectations on the lad... Rohr already has a winning team. Which I don't think he'll be altering anytime soon unless a player justifies a need for him to in the starting eleven. You don't expect the coach to say Iwobi, Nacho you've been warming your clubs bench recently so therefore Henry the 23goals hero is around you need to fasten your seat belt and give way for the new guy... The national team is not run that way. Henry will have to be tried and tested before been handed a starting birth. Don't forget Henry is still a rookie when it comes to International Football. |

Mickael2: Nothing special about Onyekuru? Well that's a new one. I was watching his match with a friend, he rightly pointed out that the dude plays like David Villa. Ok, do you know that Villa was once a winger at Barca? Did you ever see him crossing the ball? Do you think that your local 'kick and chase' football is what they do at a professional level, where you just run to the byline and you cross? Oga, his instruction is not to cross the ball, how can you instruct your best player to stay on the wings and be putting in crosses alone when you know how clinical he is? Oga he is not a wide midfielder, he is a wing forward, it's just like expecting Ronaldo or Messi to be putting in crosses when they are in that position, utterly ridiculous.
For me, I will go with a front line of... Onyekuru/Nacho/Kayode
Iwobi/Onyekuru V. Moses
that boy is too good to be far from our first eleven. Iwobi had better step up because he has been poor and doesn't even deserve to be second choice in that position Sir, don't be too quick to make your conclusion on his chances with the Eagles. Henry is good. No doubt about that. Saying that with his present form he will easily displace some players in SE's starting line up is way too far and too early. Let's wait and see him play first in the green white green. Remember some players Club form/success does not often translate to national team. We 've seen amazing so many players with fine forms who can't cut it in their respective national teams. |

Joebie: If you want to make a valid argument don't mention the African weather or pitch as it has been rightly pointed out that we have used the formation before in WC qualification successfully Let's restrict the argument to the question of if we have the players in the left flank to do the job. Mind you the best modern wingers play both flanks.
The solution is very easy. Let me hold my thought for a minute. I don't really have strength for lengthy arguements but I just need to answer your mention Sir. wow! I now see. The beauty of the formation has clouded you guys judgement. I can't even believe this is also coming from someone like you. The last time we played such formation under Phillippe Trouisser was prior to 98 world cup and thats almost 2decades ago. The weather we had then is incomparable to what we have now across the world.#fact. Africa has become warmer. We all saw how Iwobi gased out during the second half in Ndola. Or you think our opponents will be fixing our game time to suits our boys coming from europe? For the pitch I'm not a pro footballer, but I know what it means to play on a good and bad pitch... Bottomline: weather and pitch quality are big factors when it comes to African Football. |
