slowbreeze:Well for me it's not a dichotomy of original and "unoriginal". I see the ND as a geographical area. Its akin to saying that Kano State for example is part of the Sahara. It may be close to the Sahara but definitely NOT part of it. So I'm not counting out those states because of the oil-bearing status or not. I'm looking at the geography in making those statements. Those of us from the "original" ND states that get discriminated based on whether oyel dey your village or not nko? We don't get bugged by those things mehn. We are focused on the more important things. And my barb with the comment in the SE was exactly that, a barb. Trolling really. |
slowbreeze:Well the confusion arose during Obasanjo's time. From Wikipedia Historically and cartographically, it (Niger Delta) consists of present-day Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers States. In 2000, however, Obasanjo's regime included Abia, Akwa-Ibom, Cross River State, Edo, Imo and Ondo States in the region. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niger Delta) In order to weaken the agitation (from people like ex-Governor Ibori who was leading the agitation) for what became eventually known as 13% derivation, Obasanjo decided to expand meaning of Niger Delta to cover all areas in Nigeria that produce oil. At the time the areas that produce oil where the Niger Delta and areas contiguous to it. So what NDDC really is, is a development commission for oil producing areas in the Niger Delta and its environs. A river delta (shortened to delta) is clearly defined as "... a landform that forms from deposition of sediment carried by a river as the flow leaves its mouth and enters slower-moving or stagnant water. This occurs where a river enters an ocean, sea..." (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/River delta) So to re-iterate, geographically the Niger Delta differs from what is administratively referred to as Niger Delta today in Nigeria. The environmental problems suffered by the geographical Niger-Deltans are always unique to Deltas. Other Deltas in Africa include the Nile Delta in Egypt, the Okavango Delta in Botswana and the Inner Niger Delta(an unusual inland delta on the same River Niger) in Mali. PS: Talking about taking people seriously, wasn't it the south east that was foaming in the mouth when another south-eastern indigene was picked as a vice-presidential candidate for one of the political parties? Does that smack of a serious region angry that one of its own was picked to represent them? |
slowbreeze:Yup. If he's from Imo then he's out. I don't know him and decided to play safe. Assumed he was from Anioma or Ikwere. And its not about being confused my dear. There's a difference between oil producing and Niger Delta. Lagos State produces one teaspoon of oil that doesn't make them ND. Kogi has been speculated to have oil does that automatically make them ND? The Niger Delta is a clearly defined area. It covers parts of Delta State, all of Bayelsa and most of Rivers. |
What do these lotions aim to achieve? |
One month free trial then what happens after that? U think one month is sufficient to fully evaluate your software? |
Asour:I must acknowledge your candour and politeness!!! Something that is scarce to find here. I was expecting a 'combat' of how Abia or Imo is Niger Delta when clearly they aren't just like Edo or Cross River aren't Niger Delta either. I think Hayford Alile is Itsekiri so u can remove the plus (+) in front of his name. Lol |
Asour:These ones too na Niger Deltans? |
AAinEqGuinea:I agree. That's why I asked. Who ask question not dey loss |

Hmmmmmmmm let's shelve all of this and just agree to disagree. Onnyx, lemme just clarify that from my findings though they don't recruit that often. Not within the country or foreign trained Nigerians. Staff attrition rate is extremely low, so as my contact put it "there's really no vacancy to fill" |
