TravelRe: Mile 2/Apapa Expressway: The Agony Of Lagos Commuters by ajayiopy: 12:13pm On Jul 19, 2018
AutoReportNG2:
When you thought you have seen the worst in the city of Lagos then new surprises spring up.

Mile 2 can best be termed a gateway hub to the state, it has lots of access roads that link to various parts of the state, for example, Mile 2 links to Orile Iganmu, Orile links to the Island and Mainland respectively. It also links to the nation's seaport which generates billions to the state. Mile 2 is an important hub as its still same area you will see various automobile companies like GAC, Peugeot and lots more. As interesting as this city is, its a pity that it has one of the worst if not the worst road networks in the state, not only that, its the dirtiest so far expect proven otherwise.

Describing what we saw will be liking writing a Nollywood script for a movie, this road can best be described as where lawlessness reign in its totality. Due to the fact that the king of the road (the trailers) have blocked the axis leading to the road, the danfos and okadas too decide to form a double lane along the second side of the road.

AutoReportNG was in Coconut area, close to Olam factory for a meeting and what we saw was mind-blogging. The roads are nothing to write about, we observed that the roads are pretty new but everywhere was flooded, workers and residents in that area rely on bikes as tankers and trailers have blocked the only available section of the road, everywhere was blocked right from LaCasera factory to the seaport, you can imagine the pains and agony of commuters on that road.

We did a little assessment and also we got to ask from the Okada riders how long the road has been in this shape, one of the riders told us that the road has been abandoned for years as the government will only come a truck to fill some spots and after that, nothing will be heard from them again.

We noticed that since the road is closed to the seaport, a large volume of trailers take this route daily which makes the road to wear out quickly.

As we are touring the road, we noticed that the Federal Government has awarded a palliative contract to Segulat Nigeria Limited to put the place in order at least pending when the real work will start, but we are amazed to see the company come to site with only a few workers about 5 of them and they came with just one tractor.

It will be recalled that this road was reconstructed in 2012/2013 during the era of Mr. Babatunde Fashola administration but it seems our maintenance culture is knocking back at us again.

As we embark on this sad tour, we can't but ask the resident and those working around how they were to cope with the trailers, the bad roads and especially the hike in transportation.

We appeal to the minister of works and housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola to please look into this road as it has caused lots of hardship for the people, cars dared not pass this route expect you are willing to use it as a scrap.

These are some pictures we are able to gather in this area.

CareerRe: Is It Really About Working Hard? by ajayiopy: 11:55am On Jul 19, 2018
midehill:
The phrase "working hard" pisses me up nowadays not because I am lazy but because working hard is not the way to get rich and be comfortable.

For instance look around you, I am sure you know atleast one person who is very hardworking, they could be a close friend, neighbours, it could even be our dad or mum. But look at them, sometimes when you hear them speak, some will tell you they have been working for twenty years, some thirty and some fourty and above years with nothing to show for it. All the money they got from working hard are only used to cater for their family and pay bills, after all this they have nothing to show for it after long years of working and sweating.

Meanwhile another guy in the corner knows what works for him, let's say he loves playing football, he would work towards that and before you know it he is a billionaire. Another guy loves singing, he works towards that, before you know it, they are calling him or her for shows up and down. Just recently our celebrity musician tekno said he did not go to school and he is a milionaire, we all know when he started singing meanwhile some of us have been working before he starts singing but just look at it now, our money and his money no be mate, another musician is Mr eazi...how many more do I want to talk about!!!

The message I am trying to pass is know what works for you, if you loves singing go for it, follow your dream one day you will succeed. if you love football, same thing applies to it. If it's acting, go for it,u will succeed

Another thing I want you to note is that when you love doing something and you back it up with prayer and you go for it, there is no way you won't make it.

There are some great music's that haven't been produced because those with the talent are busy doing another thing.

There are some great writers yet to be known simply because they are no where to be found

There are some great footballer that are even far better than Messi and Ronaldo but he or she is somewhere wallowing in poverty

To end it all, school is very important but the way our economy is going, don't dare say you want to become a doctor, lawyer, accountant without having plan B

To me school is overated, u will hear pple saying I want to become a doctor whereas they have something that can pay them more well than those professions they just enlisted.
School is good but if you are not careful, it can make you to be poor.

Dmcool:
In as much as I respect your opinion, I can boldly tell you
your permutation might not work.

I'm from Ekiti, in fact I'm from the same town with Prof Eleka. And I must say if anyone thinks what happened to Fayemi in 2014 will repeat itself, that person is living in the past.

Did you know Fayose lost a senatorial election against Sen
Ojudu in 2011 despite his claim to be the friend of the people?

No doubt about it, he's love by some people and I must let you know the love and support he enjoyed in 2014 has drastically reduced.

WHY PDP MIGHT LOOSE SATURDAY'S ELECTION.
1. He claims to be the friend of the worker and no worker in
the state has received a salary for this year. Infact, he's owning up to 7 - 9 months salary. The same person that said that any governor that can't pay workers salary should resign. Come to Ekiti and see how workers are lamenting everyday. I'm very sure many of the workers won't vote for Eleka.

2. Prof Eleka has no political credibility. He's politically
unknown. We are from the same town like I said earlier and I
know him very well...
We have 4 indigenes of Ikere also contesting as Governor. 2
are former Deputy Governors. Hence, the vote coming from
the town as the 2nd largest town in Ekiti after Ado will be
divided.

3. Many of Fayose's top political supporters have left him to
team up with Fayemi.
* Dayo Adeyeye, former Minister and immediate past PDP
national spoke person is now with Fayemi
* Sen Fatima Raji Rasaki representing Ekiti central senatorial
district ( Fayose's Senatorial district) joined APC on Tuesday.
* Owoseeni Ajayi (Antony General of the State appointed by
Fayose in 2003 and again in 2014) joined APC on Tuesday.
* Others include the state house of Assembly chief whip, his
SA on transport, a member of the house of Rep have also
joined Fayemi's team.

4. Fayemi wasn't really bad in his first term as Fayose painted. I can name with my eyes closed over 10 meaningful programs Ekiti people enjoyed under Fayemi's regime in which Fayose canceled when he came to power.
* Free Education from primary to secondary school level.
* Free WAEC and NECO
* Free laptop to secondary school students
* Ilera laafin (Free health care services for Obas)
* Soup Kitchen
* #5000 monthly to aged Citizezn
* #10000 monthly for youth volunteers
* Peace Corps
* 5 kilometer road project in each local government
* Bursary and scholarship for students. E.T.C

But I must tell you, Fayemi was rigged out of office..

I'm not a politician nor sympathiser of any candidate.
But as an Ekitian, I pray the will of God prevails.
AM FROM EKITI AS WELL,FAYEMI NEEDS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT GRASSROOT POLITICS,YOU CAN STAYED IN ABUJA FOR YEARS AND JUST WANT TO USE CRASH PROGRAM AND WIN THE ELECTION.ITS NOT DONE. FAYOSE IS AN EXPERIENCE POLITICS AND HE CAN BEG HIS ENEMY TO GET HIS DESIRED RESULT.AS AT MONDAY,MOST OF EKIKITES SAID THE WINNING MIGHT BE DICEY BUT WITH MALHANDLING OF FAYOSE YESTERDAY AM AFRAID.
PoliticsRe: Lai Mohammed Launches Campaign Against Fake News In Nigeria - Details by ajayiopy: 9:29pm On Jul 11, 2018
wakabobo:
GIST FROM WAKABOBO.COM

According to NAN, A National Campaign Against Fake News has been launched in Nigeria by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who described the phenomenon a time bomb that can detonate with deadly consequences if left unchecked.

At a world press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister also described fake news a a global epidemic that could be worse than all the plagues that the world has recorded put together, a clear and present danger to global peace and security, and a threat to democracy.

He said the fake news phenomenon is capable of undermining confidence in the media, adding: ”Once the people lose confidence in the media, the media and the society are in trouble.”

Alhaji Mohammed said the essence of the campaign is to ”sensitize all Nigerians to the dangers posed to the peace and security, and indeed the corporate existence of Nigeria by the phenomenon, and the fact that each and every Nigerian has a role to play in curtailing the spread of fake news”.

He explained that though the federal government has been calling national attention to the issue of fake news and hate speeches since last year, ”the timing of the launch is also not unconnected to the role of fake news in aggravating the various crises in the country as well as the need to check this phenomenon ahead of the 2019 elections.”

The Minister said the government will use all the information dissemination tools at its disposal, work with both the traditional and social media, as well as the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to sensitize Nigerians.

He said the campaign will, however, not involve the use of coercion and censorship, but appealed to the media to lead the campaign, and to Nigerians not to share any news or message unless they can vouch for its source and authenticity

Citing instances from around the world to illustrate the dangers posed by fake news, Alhaji Mohammed said a recent study by researchers at the Ohio State University in the US concluded that Russian interference and the fake news it promoted probably played a significant role in depressing Hilary Clinton’s support on election day during the 2016 presidential elections in the US.

He also said that in India, about a dozen people have been killed in the past six weeks just because of fake news or hoax messages, noting: ”The victims were lynched after they were falsely accused of child abduction based on fake messages circulated via the social media platform, WhatsApp.”

The Minister said that last week, a national newspaper in Nigeria reported on its front page that a court has ordered the National Assembly to begin impeachment of Buhari, which was not the case.

”The problem with that news item is that it is fake news. According to the certified true copy of the order, the Presiding Judge of the Federal High Court in Osogbo ordered and I quote: ‘The applicants are hereby granted leave to issue and bring an Application for the order of Mandamus to compel 1st to 3rd Respondents to start impeachment proceedings against the 4th Respondent, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’. This was manipulated to read that the court has given the go-ahead for the National Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against the President. Fake News,” he said

The launch, which was sponsored by the NTA, FRCN, and three newspapers – The Nation, Vanguard and Leadership – was attended by all the heads of the media parastatals under the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), representatives of the security agencies, social media practitioners and journalists.

Daddy Freeze never misses an opportunity to call out Nigerian pastors.

The controversial OAP has reacted to Facebook CEO, mark Zuckerberg being the 3rd richest man in the world.

According to Daddy Freeze, Mark paid no tithes or first fruit to achieve that. He wrote;

"Third richest man in the world, no tithes, no first fruit, no seeds to Pentecostal principalities, no money given to pastors for prayers.
-
This year alone he has given &3.58 billion to charity.
-
Non of the top 10 richest in the world are tithe payers or even Pentecostals.
-
God doesn’t need your money, the poor do! If you want to give money to God, give to the poor, NOT TO PASTORS! Mat25:32-41 explains this clearly!
-
There is NOWHERE IN THE NEW TESTAMENT where Christians were told to give money to pastors, or the church, the New Testament giving went to the poor, yours too should go there as well!
-
Tithing is the law Heb7:5 if you practice some parts of the law without practicing all of it it brings a curse Gal3:10 and you fall away from God’s grace Gal5:4.
-
Stop paying tithes to pulpit bandits, it attracts a curse and cuts you away from Christ, little wonder Jesus or the disciples never collected it! ~FRZ

Mark Zuckerberg is now worth $81.6 billion, nearly $400 million more than Buffett.

Christianity EtcRe: What Would Jesus Do In This Case? by ajayiopy: 9:23am On Jul 09, 2018
JesusSonOfGod:
A young man who was tired of living, decided that the best thing for him was to take his life. He was about to commit suicide, then he remembered what his mom use to say "Repent and come to Jesus and He will give you a new life". He thought to himself, " Will Jesus accept me the way I am. I have lived a rough life, I have sinned greatly. My sins are so much that He might not accept me. If my parents will disown me, my siblings avoid me and no one loves me because of my evil ways, will He accept me?"

He decided to give it a try. He wore his best clothes, yet it couldn't cover up the tattoo that was all over his body. He got to a church he was once invited to years ago. He met two security men and a pastor in front of the church. He told them he came for prayers and he needed to talk to a pastor. The pastor said to him "My brother, this is a church, it is a holy place, we live holy lives, so we don't allow people with dreadlocks like yours, torn Jean and tattoo on the body". "Yes sir, that's why I came, because I need a new live" the young man said (tears almost dropping from his eyes).

The pastor replied "My brother, we are saying the same thing, our policy here does not allow such dressing". The young man concluded in his heart that God has rejected him as he cried back home. He got home and hung himself. He died.

So I was thinking, what would Jesus have done if he was the pastor? I think Jesus would have listened to him and say "My son, I was actually here waiting for you. I got worried because time was ticking. You came here because you heard me when I called. I know my sheep and they hear me when I call. Then Jesus would pray for him, preach the good news, baptize him and say to him "Son, your sins are forgiven, go and sin no more. Get some nice clothes, have a nice hair cut and follow my ways".

We are Christians because we are followers of Jesus Christ. It means Christ-like. Christianity means, people who live like Christ. So I think the Pastor is just a Pastor by title, he does not have Christ in him.Let us live like Christ because that's holiness.

John 10:14-16, Luke 5:32, Luke 19:10, Mark 2:17, 1 Timothy 1:15....
JESUS WILL NEVER TURN ANYONE DOWN REGARDLESS OF THE GRAVITY OF YOUR SIN. HIS ULTIMATE GOAL AND AMBITION WHILE ON EARTH IS TO SAFE SINNER.U COULD REMEMBER THE WOMAN CAUGHT IN THE ACT,HER SINS WERE FORGIVEN.

CultureRe: The Meaning Of Edo Flag Of Benin Kingdom by ajayiopy: 1:39pm On Jul 03, 2018
Stranac:
14 March 2014

I posted this yesterday and whilst I am happy that some persons adopted the flag, I was very very provoked that some of our brothers and sisters who are suffering from the psychological problems of ethnical, cultural and social identities came out openly to condemn this flag using a foreign parameter as their yardstick. They decried it as fetish,diabolical, violence-projecting and pagan. If I may ask, do they really understand the imports of the symbols and colors of the flag before jumping to conclusion. Let me help them at least;

(1) QUEEN IDIA MASK:
The mask obviously is the head of the Edo warrior queen-mother Idia, the mother of Oba Esigie known as the wise King. Recall that Oba Esigie ruled over the whole of Bendel,Lagos, half Yorubalands,Onitsha and even some parts of today's north central. He was a great emperor and the first to receive a diplomatic mission from Europe and also the first black Ruler to set up an embassy in the land of the whiteman. He attained these feats with the help and encouragement of a mother who is now recorded by local and foreign history as one of the most dynamic and strongest women that ever came out of Africa. Why do you think her mask, not that of Queen Amina of Zazzau or any other historical Nigeria woman was adopted by the country in 1977 as the national symbol in that international festival of arts and culture? Even till date, the mask is still used by the country to project the viability of our culture, the virility and strength of the nigerian woman. Idia is the most popular of all the Edo powerful women on historical record and her mask dignifies the flag in the same way the head of queen Elizabeth does the currency of Britain and many of the English national monuments.

(2) THE RED COLOUR, first note that we have the colors in two separate version here. In the horizontal rectangle and in the three stars. In the rectangle, it is self explanatory. It signifies the precious blood shed by our heroes in building the great empire we are all so proud of. Surely, you wouldn't want them to be forgotten by their descendants who are today enjoying the peace they gave their lives for. Also recall that Ghana and Ethiopia have this red colour in their flag too and for the same reasons-memory of their fallen heroes. We can never forget easily the Benin massacre of 1897. A pogron that so much decimated our population that the Edo people who by the 19th century were the largest nation in West Africa rain forest is today regarded as a minority group. As for the stars, it highlights the beauty of the Edo nation.Rose the king of flowers ( ododo) is red. 3 stars signify the current people of Benin,Esan and Afemai who are direct offshoots of the great empire. We are beautiful and united family, aren't we?

(3) THE GREEN COLOUR.
This simply depict our geography and vegetation. We are in a rain forest which is ever green. Mark my words, oil or no oil, Edo nation can never lack of food because God in his mercy has been partial in favoring us with much agrarian gifts and resources. Edo and Ondo contributed most in the production of the agricultural wealth that built the old western region. Cocoa, rubber and palm oil, we remain número uno.

(4) THE WHITE COLOUR:

White is for peace and we are a very peaceful people unless we are unreasonably dared. We should stop using campus cult violence to define us. Every campus is populated by people from all ethnic groups in Nigeria not only Edo people. It is wrong to attribute the cult activities in AAU and Uniben to only Edo student. How many Edo persons were involved in the most violent activities in Nigeria...Niger Delta Militancy,Maintesina uprising and Boko haram insurgency..nil

(5) THE STATELY SWORD:

Need I explain this. Edo people are the most royal of all the nations in West African sub-region nay,the whole of Africa. We have a royal institution that is as old as the British monarchy, older than the sefewa dynasty and outlived the French empire. We are a dignified race ruled by majestic and honourable kings. Oba Eweka 1 was not a tyrant like Caesar Borgia of Rome,Oba Ewuare was not a homosexual like King James of England and Oba Ozolua the conqueror was never a pervert like Napoleon of France.

(7) THE MATCHET:
This has nothing to do with violence but simply depict our traditional professions. We were and still largely warriors, hunters and farmers. So the other sword or rather the matchet is a tool not an object of negative violence.

On a final note, it is an indisputable fact that rituals, violence and occultism has been practiced and executed by Christianity and Islam than any our indigenous religions. This should be another topic for another day..

Title: Slay Queen Who Just Graduated From University Says She Ain’t Taking Any Job That Pays Less Than N300k For A Start

A slay queen who has just concluded her final exams in one of the Nigerian Universities has laid out her terms to companies planning to employ her once she concludes her clearance and is ready to work.

The slay queen identified as Chinny took to social media to list the companies she can only work for as Shell, Chevron, Nestle and Dangote group. She did not end there. She says she will not accept any job paying less than N300,000 for a start.
May be she knows what she’s made of and the knowledge she acquired in school.

The aforementioned companies should take note.

if her faith could carry it,it is possible. I said same thing in 2005 after my graduation that I will not do work less than 100k and God heard me. though at a point I was disturbing God with my prayers but the response is that ....YOU ARE SPECIFIC IN YOUR REQUEST AND WE ARE WORKING ON IT,SAID THE ANGEL. BUT NOT BY SLAYING
