Juliusmalema: Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, has ordered the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to "overhaul the management and activities" of notorious Police unit, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). Over the past nine months, numerous Nigerians have taken to social media to accuse officers of the unit of several misconducts ranging from harassment, extortion, assault to extra-judicial killings.
In a statement issued by Osinbajo's spokesperson, Laolu Akande, the Acting President ordered the IGP to shut down the unit "with immediate effect".
The statement read, "Following persistent complaints and reports on the activities of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) that border on allegations of human rights violations, His Excellency, Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN, Acting-President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, has directed the Inspector General of Police to, with immediate effect, overhaul the management and activities of SARS and ensure that any unit that will emerge from the process, will be intelligence-driven and restricted to the prevention and detection of armed robbery and kidnapping, and apprehension of offenders linked to the stated offences, and nothing more."

dainformant: A lady is lucky to be alive following a gas explosion which occurred at her residence yesterday. According to Blessing Nkoyo Emmanuel from Eket, Akwa Ibom but resides in Kano state, she was about to turn off the gas in her home before it exploded and set her on fire.
She revealed that her clothes and hair were on fire before she narrowly escaped from the kitchen.
Immediately she escaped from the kitchen, the ceiling and some parts of the house were destroyed as she came out with a little injury from the incident.
The excited lady took to Facebook to thank God for her miraculous survival.

Ekiti360: Afrojazz singer, Lagbaja, and pop star, Simi on Saturday thrilled the audience in a joint performance at the Johnnie, Jazz and Whisky music and flavours night in Abuja.
The duo performed Lagbaja’s “Never Far Away” at the JJW concert in Central Area, Abuja, as Simi described the experience as “meeting a legend.”
At the event, the organisers availed the audience of a chance to enjoy good music and savour various flavours of wines, prompting a feeling of career fulfilment for Simi, who described the performance with Lagbaja as a milestone.
Simi said she relished her encounter on the stage with Lagbaja, noting that it was a chance of her life.
She said, “So, yesterday, I met a legend. I had the time of my life. Living my dreams; God is good.”
Lagbaja, also in a response on his Instagram page, called Simi an angel, noting that it was a beautiful time. “How many of you got to see this beautiful mash up with the lovely Simi? She is an angel,” he said.
Simi was just five years old when Lagbaja released his first album, “Ikira” in 1993 and had not recorded professionally when Lagbaja clinched the Channel O Music Video Award for “Never Far Away”, the song which the duo re-enacted with their performance at the JJW concert.
Simi’s post expressing admiration for Lagbaja got over 50,000 likes and 1260 comments from fans, who requested some collaboration music from the duo.

kahal29: The Federal Executive Council, FEC, on Wednesday approved N72.9billion for the reconstruction of the road from Apapa to the toll gate on Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Lagos State.
Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, made this known to State house Correspondents in Abuja after the weekly cabinet meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Fashola said the decision was taken to provide a long term solution to the road, which had suffered a lot of gridlock in recent times.
“The Ministry of Power, Works and Housing secured approval for the reconstruction of the Creek Road Tincan Island-Beach Land right through to Oworoshoki to the toll gate end of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway for the full reconstruction of that road which was built around 1975 as part of our first port expansion undertaken then in the 70s.
“That road was intended to evacuate cargo out of Lagos without running through the spine of the city.
“The road is now in some state of disrepair and Council has approved its reconstruction at the cost of N72.9 billion,” he said.
According to the minister, the work will be done using a Public-Private Partnership PPP model.
He named Dangote Group as the constructing firm for the road project, saying that the N72.9 billion for the execution of the project would be recovered through the funding credit tax policy of government.
The minister further said when fully constructed, the road will have 10 lanes, with five on both sides, with a total of 270.8 linear kilometres, including drainage, rehabilitation of some of the bridges and interchanges.
“First, it will be done through PPP model. The constructing company will be the Dangote group. It will be financing that construction to the tune of N72.9 billion as certified by PPP.
“Another instructive thing to note is that this is the first full reconstruction of that road since it was constructed at about 1975.
“All previous efforts had been to repair damaged sections. So, it is going all the way to reconstruct the road.
“The third thing to note is that the entire construction is that it involves procurement of 27.8 kilometres made up of 10 lanes – five lanes on both sides – three on the main carriage way, two on service lanes.
“So, essentially, you are constructing about 79.8 linear kilometres and that also include drainage and use of extensive cement work and rehabilitation of bridges.
“We expect contractors to move to site. This is our own long term solution to the problem contributed by the road congestion there.
“This will provide enduring solution to what is currently being experienced by commuters,” he added.

Ayazor54: The Senator representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi Danbaba has boasted that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will win 10 northern states in the 2019 general elections.
Danbaba was among the lawmakers who recently dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the PDP at the National Assembly.
Speaking to select journalists in Sokoto on Sunday, the senator said he did not regret dumping the APC on whose platform he became Senator because they were not being carried along.
Explaining further, he stated that he left the party because of lack of equity, justice and fairness to all members.
“The APC-led federal government has derailed from its mandate and failed to meet the yearnings of Nigerians,” he added.
Danbaba, who is also the vice chairman of the House Committee on Army, lamented that the APC has failed to address the three core issues facing the country, which are those of security, economy and corruption for which it was voted into power in 2015.
“I am the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army and I know how much that has been expended on security in the country. We are facing security challenges in Zamfara, Kaduna, Sokoto and many states and people are being killed,” he said.
He added, “No strategy has been adopted to tackle security. Villagers in Zamfara are now running to local government headquarters. So, the situation is getting worse in the country.”
Speaking further, the lawmaker stated that the President was being misled by selfish people who surrounded him for their personal benefits.
Danbaba was confident that the PDP would take over Benue, Kaduna, Kano, Plateau, Kogi, Kwara, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Sokoto states in 2019.
He also said that the balance of power was now tilted in favour of the PDP.
The senator accused the APC government of fighting perceived enemies in the name of fighting corruption, citing the travails of the Senate President.

Tehila07: I had thought that love has bigger roles to play in marriage. I was wrong. I got married at 36 when I thought I had seen someone who loved me.
While dating, I was not spending money on her because she has a job and was not complaining. I ride okada for a living, hoping to go into a business soon. Before marriage, I used to have spare cash of about 10k always. Even if that 10k is spent on something, I would recover it within a week. She told me that if money she spends on feeding and what I spend on feeding are added together, we will feed ourselves, and save more. But since we got married, I labour hard to ensure she has whatever she needs. Now I'm stretched to the limit and can't cope anymore. She has money in her bank account, but said she's saving for raining days. Anytime she wants to perform online banking, I do it for her. Two days ago, I wanted to buy data, I transferred money from her account to the seller, brought out the money and told her seller accepts bank transfer and I don't want to go and queue in the bank for lodgement. I would have informed her first, but she was busy attending to visitors and her phone was with me. She was angry and said "I will change my password." I replied that the only favor she did me was saving my journey to the bank. She said if she has cash in hand, she would be tempted to spend it. So, it's me that should not have savings?
I don't feel like having sex again, because of the depression and she is now angry that I'm turning her down. Now I'm planning to leave home and return whenever my situation improves. She can cope because she has enough money.
Why the financial pressure on me is too much is that we are both 36 years old and friends keep trouping to our house to wish her well. As a man that manages resources, I entertained guests from my family once for the past two months we got married because it's not my town but hers. She keeps asking me for money to entertain guests. Some friends made it a habit of visiting twice weekly, while she keeps showing me off. When she asked for money for food yesterday and I told her I had no money, she has been moody since then, thinking that I'm hiding money from her.
This was a woman, that, last week, when I said I couldn't afford a particular asoebi that only concerns me because it's costly, went to the market, bought it, and took it to my tailor. Judging from her recent actions, I won't wear that cloth except I'm able to refund the money.

I had similar experience when i newly married and cried out to God to bless me such that i will not ask for anything from my wife. You can't separate women from money .what assurance do you have that if you divorce her that you will get a woman with better character . Marriage is black market and nothing you can do about it. Forgive her and move one because your happiness matter. Always remember that if you die today she will leave her life,infact if she is your next of kin,you know the rest.

joa2013: My wife and her family members are driving me crazy. Their involvement in my home is becoming embarrassing. I may have to give my wife the red card asap. Her family poke noses into all my affairs. How I spent my money, who I give my money to, who I visit, and so on. All they want is to continue to expend money on them and live my life for them. I got their daughter a job, her salary isn't enough for them, how can I be taking care of able bodied men who have refused to work with their certificates, looking for jobs with good pays before they'll work, their pensioner father is not also helping matters, very difficult to please. I have made it known to my wife that our marriage contract did not include pleasing her family members but she won't listen then I worked my transfer from Lagos to Abuja, yet they're on my neck. My wife's younger brother is presently in Abuja without any clear cut mission other than to come and monitor my affairs. He called me around 7pm yesterday to tell me he's in Utako and that I should come and pick him from pack, I told him I didn't invite him to Abuja so why should I pick him up? I asked him if he didn't have a mission before coming and why he should get to Abuja before notifying me that he's coming to my place. I shunned him and switched off my phone. I switched on the phone now only to read 3 abusive text messages from my wife and one from her father threatening that if anything happens to his son, I'll be held responsible. My people, can you see my life? My pastor have been trying to broker peace between us before I left for Abuja to no avail, what I intended to do is to settle down here and get her relocated so that if she's a bit far from her family, things will work out. I'll instruct a lawyer to file divorce papers tomorrow, I can no longer take it.
