Agree.
There should be at least 2 of the WAFCON qualifiers before the WWC commences, so both ladies should be in good shape.
No worries
isan:
There should be AWCON qualifier for Ajibade and Ayinde to serve out their suspension before june next year , there should be Olympic qualifier also but i don't know if that counts
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 4:18pm On Jul 19, 2022
We Nigerians, sha!

Bring this and that back. Get rid of this and that. Reallyhuh
Which team in the world has ever played with 2 players down and yet, did not concede a goal in over 60 mins of football in a semi final match of a major competition??
Only ONE team has done this in the history of football and that is our Super Falcons!!! Let that sink in for a moment!

Do you believe the girls didn't want to win that game? Do you think they would have battled and played their guts out with the deck stacked against them if they didn't want that 10th trophy that badly? I cannot imagine how crushed they are right now and how disappointed they feel. Yet, you have some clowns here talking about dropping this and that person. Seriously??

Arabs will always be arabs - they will rob, cheat or steal to get what they want. They are notorious for that. That the rest of CAF would sit back and allow and all Arab VAR team to dictate the outcome of crucial matches in this competition is SOLELY on us black Africans (we allowed ourselves to get played by those crooks!) - next time, make sure black Africans make up at least half that team!

In closing, the rest of black Africa needs to rally around the South Africans in the final. In the absence of the Super Falcons, THEY deserve the trophy, as they have put in the hard work over the years/decades and deserve it (and not those theiving arabs who want to sneak in through the back door).

I wish Bayana Bayana the best and hope they take those crooked arabs to the cleaners in the final!!

CAFs ban will be honored by FIFA at the WC. So, its the Bronze match and 1st WC game they will miss - unless CAF has a few qualifiers for the next WAFCON, Olympics or any other competition, then they will miss a match in there.
Nothing spoil.
codemaniacs:
I think its mainly CAF competitions they will miss, like 3 qualifying matches or next WAFCON 2 group matches..

iwobi will miss at least one more nations cup qualifier.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 1:40pm On Jul 17, 2022
Isn’t it strange that this is the only match where she’s been penalized for foul throws in this tournament, yet she's been throwing the ball the exact same way?
It’s obvious it’s the lines-person that needs the coaching.
oloriooko:
She's good though with lots of room for improvement especially throw-ins
How on earth could she have committed 3 foul throws in a match that's grossly unprofessional
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 11:33am On Jul 15, 2022
She is not a ‘fine replacement’ for Rita Chikwelu - she is an upgrade. She brings energy, steel and pace which Chikwelu currently lacks. That was evident to me since the Canada friendlies.

From the U20, the likes of Esther Onyenedize, Flourish Emmanuel and Debbie Ajibola should be onboarded immediately after the U20WWC, to give them time to blend into the team. Upfront, we definitely need Rinsola Babajide to be in the mix (in addition to others that have been listed).

Like the progression the team is making, as evidenced in this tournament. 3 consecutive shutouts and three dominant performances. Looking forward to the next matches.

Vamos, SuperFalcons!!!
Schemerkhiz:
You're very Correct, At 21 she's better than how she's been rated. A fine replacement for Rita Chikwelu...

I think Randy should just stick to the Midfield trios of Ucheibe, Ayinde and Okobi.... Then look for a better replacement for them

Should I say Regina Otu, Chinaza Uchendu and One of this girl's from the U20. If Peace Efih and Amanda Mbadi get better they can as well earn their spot...

Isn’t CAF a subsidiary of FIFA?
Her case wouldn’t be handled any differently
isan:
Banda will play i believe FIFA will handle her case better
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 8:30pm On Jul 13, 2022
You opined that the level of football displayed by our SF team has been disappointing to you.
However, the US coach suggested different, and believes the team is becoming one to be reckoned with at the world stage and offered to have a double header with the SF, a privilege afforded to teams they regard highly.
I believe it’s a very good sign
GeneralDae:
The only problem with this analogy is that the Brazillian team as at the time they were losing to the U.S were not struggling against way lesser teams than the U.S. Brazil from the 1990's were only behind European super powers, Japan, China, and the U.S then. So you can say they were at a particular level. The football displayed by our Superfalcons has not been encouraging enough to me, so we need to gauge our players with some half decent teams where we can at least see more of them a little bit.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 7:42pm On Jul 13, 2022
To be the best, you have to play against the best.
Brazilian ladies played the US numerous times, sometimes 2 or 3 times in a year and used to get walloped until they beat the US one day and leveled the playing field. Same with Germany, Canada and Australia. Jamaica is following suit.
So, there’s nothing wrong with the idea.
GeneralDae:
Why must we play U.S.A? I don't think this is a good strategy if you ask me. We should be playing Jamaica, China, Mexico, Italy, not U.S.A, Canada, France, et al.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 4:43am On Jul 12, 2022
She’s a ball-hog and is always predictable with her moves when she gets the ball: dribble and pass backwards. She adds little to the team flow in the midfield, especially when we need to move the ball quick against the physical Cameroonians.
We need players who add value to the team and she is not one of them.
PDPGuy:
Plumptre is the better crosser, and her strength will be needed against a physical Cameroon side.

I know Okobi has yet to hit the heights she set in 2014/15, but her ability to keep possession would be useful during the last few mins of the game if the SF are in a winning position
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 1:52am On Jul 12, 2022
No Toni Payne?
Please remove Okobi from the line up. She offers very little value in this setup
PDPGuy:
For the clash v Cameroon, I would prefer a 4-3-3 formation with this lineup:

——————————Nnadozie——————————

—-Alozie————Ohale———-Ebi———Plumptre—-

——————————-Ayinde—————————-

———————Ucheibe——Okobi———————

———-Ajibade————Onumonu———Ordega——
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 1:04am On Jul 12, 2022
I think the current crop of midfielders should suffice, with the likes of Flourish Sebastian, Debbie Ajibola and Esther Onyenezide potentially joining the squad. Vicky is a nice to have, not a need to have.
In defense, Tosin Demehin and Wunmi Oshobukola are also center backs that are worth looking at.
We have enough players to create depth in the squad and it’s really exciting!
marvin906:
If we get Lopez in this team and another center back, it will nice
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 8:16pm On Jul 11, 2022
She really killed it.

Looks like they are learning how to relax off the field and explode with aggression on the field.
That’s the right balance which most championship teams exhibit.

Kudos to them.

If a 39 yr old lady is able to consistently hold her own against 15 yr old young bucks, then MASSIVE kudos to her.
For those who are 30+ Here and have scrimmaged against really good and fit teenagers, it’s no small feat.

I want to know what Ebi is doing (eating and fitness regime) to be up to the task.
I hail her and biggest props to her!

Damn!
The knives and machetes are truly out for Randy Waldrum. One wrong choice in his selection against South Africa and he is being pulverized.

Even though he was spot on regarding the media and their romance with negativity, he ought to have been coached by Amaku about how to string them along with the BS they love to hear.
Nigerians hate being told the truth anyway, so he should just play along. He knows what the objective is for him and the ladies, so…

Three aged women (Chikwelu, Ebi and Ohale) vs. the speedy #10 from Botswana.
This should be interesting...
semid4lyfe:
Did Waldrum do a review of the game and players performance?

If he did, how on earth did he select Chikwelu in the starting lineup again?

I give up.

Bravo!
You are spot on and confirmed you actually played and understand the subtle nuances of the game, and most especially, the art of defending.
Thanks for your analysis, particularly the emboldened.

...and perhaps, a particular gentleman on this forum could learn a thing or two from you. grin grin

labas370:
I can't fault Alozie for the second goal. I was in my uni female team. Played lot of female tournaments both regional, national, continental and club tournaments. The type of situation Alozie found herself always occur often in female football. And in that situation, the defender can only do one thing and success of the defender's action solely depends on the opponent's decision.

Either the defend tries to block the route for a through pass inorder to allow the ball carrier to proceed ahead hoping for her teammates to come for defensive rescue, or the defender tries to directly mark her opponent that is with the ball. If you observe, this usually happen when the opponent team is on counter attack.

Alozie did what any defender would have done that is trying to block that pass. The main culprit for that goal is Ohale. She was no where to be found
but again, it's not her fault. IT'S THE COACH'S FAULT.

First goal, plumptre was noticably tired and over stressed. The first goal is the coach's fault. Rita was -1 as an AM, -1 as CM and -1 as DF. Her in that pitch affected all the players in defense, midfield and striking department.
Ayinde was to sit back and protect the defense, Ajibade was to play the box2box while Rita as AM. Ajibade, Onomonu and Payne were doing Rita's work as AM. Ayinde was doing Ajibade's work as CM while plumptre/Alozie even Ohale were doing Ayinde's work as DM. That's what caused both the first and the second goal.

That coach is very mad and stupid. Imagine this useless coach coaching Brazil or Spanish female team and his only tactics is long ball. They will sack him. They wouldn't even hire a coach like that because his ideology is different from their samba football and tiki taka.
Same should be for Nigeria. We only need to get coaches that have same or similar football ideology like ours. I noticed from our game against Portugal that once those girls threw away that his stupid tactics and started playing more on the ground, they were able to control that game and squeezed out a draw. Same against second match against Canada and even against USA. Same shit yesterday.

Compare this coach with the present super eagles coach, i will say, this current super eagles coach has a poor CV but one of the keys to his success will be him having same football ideology with Nigerian which is more of keeping the ball on the ground than those useless long balls.

This stupid coach haven't done anything impactful for our SF instead, they have depreciated a lot. Imagine getting scared of Botswana, South Africa etc.
Next will be him giving stupid media press like rohr and glorifying small small African countries like football giants.

That other mad man at NFF should do and go away. The most useless NFF president.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS:
Sad! We wish Asisat a speedy recovery. Its been a very tough year for her, injury wise. Inspite of this, she has worked hard and still crowned herself in glory.

For me, this just reinforces my belief that Nigeria will make it to the finals. And if we happen to meet the South Africans again, we WILL beat them black and blue. And after watching the match again yesterday night, I am even more convinced of this.

Deltamani:
Four-time African Player of the Year winner Asisat Oshoala sustained a Grade 2 medial collateral ligament strain in the game against South Africa on Monday.

She is set to return to Spain on Thursday.

Perhaps if you had focused on the salient aspects of the game, you would have realized Kgatlana had been flagged for offside before the 'foul', thereby rendering it a non event.
But of course, making sure Alozie was 'responsible' for the second goal takes precedence... grin grin
TheSuperNerd:
Meanwhile how Oluehi escaped a card or being sent off for "that foul" on Kgatlana must be some lenient gift from the referee.

Amazing how I can say that I had little to no complaints about the ref from yesterday's game.

Oluehi is a very decent goalkeeper but I just personally feel much more assured with Chiamaka Nnadozie in goal. Thanks goodness she returns for the next game.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 9:41pm On Jul 04, 2022
No worries.
I accept your concession spiel, as a face saver for you smiley
Cherrio!
TheSuperNerd:
Told you to save all these blabs stemming from sentiments. I have the game videos and different videos for that scenario so no need for your irrelevant frames coz even they prove my point.

She was momentarily off for that goal and it's okay coz she indeed had a good game overall. She cannot be exempted. I certainly know you would never exempt Ogbonna for this. So rest mister man.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 9:16pm On Jul 04, 2022
I provided you with evidence of the sequence leading to the goal...

Frame 1: see how Ohale was way off to the left side of defense, when she should have (as RCB) been much closer to Alozie and closed up that gap? Ohale is 'red arrowed' in this frame.
Also, the player on the ball had 2 options or pathways to advancing the ball (see blue arrows).

Frame 2: Alozie tried to cut off the passing lane but narrowing the angle, but was beaten by a brilliant pass. See how far behind the ball Ohale was? Alozie unfortunately had two people on her (meaning somebody went to sleep). As evidenced in the both frames, that somebody was RCB Ohale.

Opted not to respond to your other comments.
TheSuperNerd:
Imagine how quick you are to come to her aid with elaborate explanations exonerating her from any fault at all. The fact still remains that goal came from her wing so she definitely has a part in our conceeding. She didn't underlap at the right moment. Had she done that, the angle would have been narrower to enable the choice she made work out.

That is the Truth.

SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 8:34pm On Jul 04, 2022
She had two players in her zone with no cover - the one coming at her who laid the pass, and the one who scored. So, in your humble opinion, who should she have marked?

If you ever played as a defender, you would know that she made the right or plausible choice and that is to block the passing lane.
Unfortunately for her, that was a brilliant defense splitting pass.
Absolutely no fault on her part.
TheSuperNerd:
Yeah. Which was to stretch and just look beautiful on the grass. grin

Truth is she got her positioning all wrong in the buildup to that goal. She didn't underlap enough. That was her wing.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 8:22pm On Jul 04, 2022
Ohale went to sleep for the second goal, leaving Alozie exposed and having to mark 2 SA players and leading to the splitting pass.
Quite disappointed in her play and decision making today.
arsenal96:
And people suggesting Ebi should retire, if not for her today, we will concede nothing less than 4 goals. She was our best defender by mile, even had assist for Ajibade's goal. Alozie and Plumpetre did very well too. Ohale disappointed today, as I rated her than what she showed today. Bad midfield didn't allow us to see what T.Payne and Anumonu are capable of doing in attack. If this coach qualify us to world cup and don't improve the team, we will be disgraced.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 8:19pm On Jul 04, 2022
Yes, they did well losing to Ivory Coast which cost us the Olympics, right.
Puhlease!
arsenal96:
I cannot even remember when last Oshoala perform in Nigeria colour, she has been plain poor. And I don't know what the coach has been doing with the team for more than a year now. The same team u played friendly against not too long, they dominated you in that match, today they still did the same, even with a full squad Nigeria paraded.I think we should go back to our local coaches. They did well handling this team, then we have pattern and proper build up.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 7:53pm On Jul 04, 2022
Dumb ass midfield set up by Randy cost us this game.
Hopefully, this should be the END of Chikwelu starting for the SE.
Need to play younger and more energetic players in the midfield.

Truth is, we sucked big time in this opener.

Waldrum got the set up wrong.
Chikwelu should never have started - she was pretty much a nonentity in this game.
Ucheibe could have offered a ton more and Ajibade should have played as AM from the start, not Chikwelu.
