She was not a criminal and they shot her, her blood will revenge - Mother of 20-year-old lady killed by police in Ajegunle

“I spoke with her on Friday afternoon and she promised to come see me next week so we could celebrate Easter together. She’s a daughter I don’t want to miss in life. She had a loving heart, she was friendly and didn’t like trouble. When they called me around 7am that my daughter had been shot by the Police, I rushed down there and saw my child lying dead. A girl of just 20 years died like a chicken! What did they find on her that made them fire her? If they had shot the tyre, at least the car would stop. Is that what the government want for us? I want justice for my child! I wish she could live again for me, but it’s impossible! She’s gone forever!”, the mother lamented.

Recall; The 20 year old girl died on the spot, while the young man is hospitalized in dire condition.

They were coming from club last night, as alleged when police chased them, double crossed them and shot the guy while the lady in question was shot twice. Something is critically wrong with the police across Nigeria and it is time the society resist being prey.

All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Festus Keyamo, have disagreed on the citizenship of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

The APC member disclosed that the decision to test the matter in court was a collective decision reach by more than 18 senior advocates representing the President and the APC at the Election Petition Tribunal.

He stressed that the fact that Atiku served as a vice president for eight years does not make him a Nigerian, saying, “That is irrelevant.”

“Did you have access to security reports then; did the court look at that issue at that time? We are talking of qualifications to be President of Nigeria, not qualifications to be a Customs officer,” Keyamo stated.

He said that the matter has never been tested in court before does not provide a platform for someone to keep doing “something that is wrong”.

The senior advocate noted that the issue of citizenship was just one of the six grounds raised to challenge the petition filed by the PDP at the Tribunal.

He said, “I can tell you for free that since 1960, this is the most useless petition that has been presented before any court of law, or any Tribunal to adjudicate.”

The Ogun State police command has arrested a three-man child stealing syndicate linked to different cases of kidnapping in the state.

The state police command also rescued three children who were already sold out by the group to unsuspecting persons in Anambra state.

One of the children, a five-year-old boy has been reunited with his parent while the other two are still within police care.

According to the police, the modus operandi of the syndicate is to go to different neighborhoods where their targeted children are and rent an apartment, make friends with the unsuspecting parents, gain their trust and sometimes become a child caregiver in the absence of the unsuspecting parents and finally disappear with the children.

Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu on Tuesday visited Zamfara State.

Adamu, during the visit, met with stakeholders over the suspension of mining activities and to ensure compliance with the directive.

Adamu visited the state to hear from traditional and religious leaders, farmers, cattle breeders, what their concerns are with respect to killings in the state.

He asked for the cooperation of traditional and religious leaders and all stakeholders in the form of information so that security agencies will continue and stay focused in their commitment to fighting crime and protecting lives and property.

In his response, the Chairman of Zurmi Local Government Area, Auwal Bawa pleaded with the IGP to work with the civilian JTF to fight the bandits attacking the state.

He also used the opportunity to seek for ammunition as a form of assistance to the civilian JTF members.

Nigerian Senate passed the Nigerian Police Trust Fund Bill (HB 1583).

Recall that last week, the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, had promised the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, that the Senate would fast-track its work on both the Police Trust Fund Bill and the Police Reform Bill.

Reacting to the Senate’s passage of the Bill, which has also been passed by the House of Representatives, Saraki said:

“By passing this bill, we will be creating big strides towards providing and improving security and the policing in our country.

“One of the major concerns has always been the issue of funding. We believe that this bill will provide the funding needed for training and recruitment. I am confident that by the time we lay the report on the Police Reform Bill, we would have gone a long way in moving the police in the right direction,” the Senate President said.
