Shehu Sani, the Senator representing Kaduna Central, on Tuesday joined Nigerians in condemnation of the killing of one Kolade Johnson by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Shehu Sani wrote:

“Kolade Johnson; Trigger and Tragedy.
“The perpetrators must be brought to book.”

Reno Omokri, former spokesman to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, wrote:

“What that particular SARS officer did is wrong. He should be held responsible.

“But before we think of ending SARS, let us pick a small area, like Mushin, and test it there. If by ending SARS in Mushin crime reduces, then I will support #EndSARS. If not, I will prefer #ReformSARS”.

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Rivers State has begun the collation of results of the suspended Governorship and House of Assembly elections results in the state.

Electoral and Returning Officers for the seventeen Local Government Areas where elections have been concluded are all at the INEC Secretariat in Port Harcourt.

The Rivers State Police command also made good its promise to cordon off GRA Junction up to the INEC premises with armoured vehicles. This includes Water Lines Junction.

National Commissioner in charge of Bayelsa, Rivers and Edo ,May Agbamuche-Mbu, INEC REC in Rivers State, Obo Effangha, INEC REC in Ebonyi and INEC REC in Niger state, Sam Ebu, the DSS and Assistant Director, Abdulkadir, and Commissioner of Police CP Usman Belel, are among top officials overseeing the collation exercise.

Police Team led by Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Zubairu Muazu, mni, today, paid condolence visit to the family of Kolade Johnson, reassures family that justice must prevail.

Recall; The victim was alleged to have been shot by a member of a police team, while he was watching a Premier League fixture between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in Lagos on Sunday.

Johnson’s death has sparked widespread criticism, with a renewed call on the Federal Government to end the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) unit of the police.

Senator Shehu Sani has said that the frequent killings across Nigeria are as a result of a failure on the part of the government.

“There is no country in the whole of the African continent where people are being kidnapped or Killed daily at these frequency & numbers. In this area, the Govt has failed woefully. The Govt must protect & guarantee human lives as it does political ambitions & empires,” Sani said.

He also noted that those perpetrating the wicked acts across the nation are thugs armed by politicians all in a bid to realise their political ambitions.

“They funded and armed thugs to help them intimidate, maim or kill opponents in order to realize their political ambitions; now they have abandoned them, to constitute a menace to themselves and to the larger society.”

Reacting to a statement by Professor Yemi Osinbajo in which the Vice President stated that President Buhari has no theocratic agenda, Sani said, “It’s reassuring to hear from the VP that the President has no theocratic agenda. But what is of urgent importance now is for the FG & respective states to end the mindless killings in the name of religion or ethnicity. And the first step is fairness to people of all faiths.”

He is also weighed in on issues bordering on Nigerian polity and the electoral process, arguing that calling for unity after stealing other peoples’ mandate is unfair.

The senator representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District Kabiru Garba Marafa has urged the National chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to maintain his status as a leader, and ‘‘not to allow pressure from some corrupt persons to change him’’.

Reacting to Oshiomhole’s statement on a Channels Television’s programme ‘Hard Copy’, Marafa said “it’s quite unfortunate and disheartening to watch the hitherto respected comrade rubbishing his hard earned name before the whole world.

“Oshiomhole performed creditably well during the party primaries, he led the party aright to the admiration of all, including those in the opposition parties. He aligned himself with the masses, against some state governors who assumed the position of the Almighty in their respective states. Why do you want change, my comrade’’.

Marafa wondered why a towering figure like Oshiomhole will want to diminish himself at this stage of his life. He admonished Oshiomhole not to allow pressure ‘‘from agents of darkness and evil doers’’, to push him to change his posture of trailing the path of honour to a dishonourable one.

“What Oshiomhole said was nothing but a wicked lie that can neither stand moral nor legal scrutiny.

“Records and documentary evidence abound everywhere that APC did not conduct primaries in Zamfara State, due to the attitude of the state governor.

“Oshiomhole, at the peak of the controversy affirmed the fact that no primary was conducted in the media, his famous video of “ primaries are to be conducted not by state governments nor by state party chairmen but by the panels sent by the party’s NWC,” is still very much available on the net.

“Equally available is INEC’s letter to him (Chief Oshiomhole) that they received reports from their local office in Gusau that APC didn’t conduct valid primaries as at 12:am Sunday 7th October 2019. It was based on this fact that INEC said it wasn’t expecting candidates from (APC) and you Chief Oshiomhole responded by accepting the fact that APC didn’t conduct primaries but you did consensus! A simple google search will amplify these facts’’.

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, has accused the Nigerian Army of interfering in the March 9th governorship election in Rivers state.

A statement released by the commission said the commission suspended all electoral processes like collation of results in the state because of how some soldiers were interfering at the collation centers.

Okoroca Don suffer

Hope Uzodinma, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo state, says Rocha Okorocha, governor of the state, is dead politically.

Reacting to the comment Okorocha made on the loss of the APC in the gubernatorial election, Uzodinma said the governor is looking for scapegoats for his failure.

Okorocha had accused Adams Oshiomhiole, national chairman of the APC of imposing Uzodinma on the party against the people’s wish.

The governor said posterity will judge the duo. But Uzodinma asked Okorocha to hide his face in shame rather than blaming him and the national leadership of the party over his failed plot to install his son in-law as governor.

He challenged Okorocha for a walk on the streets of Owerri, saying people will stone him.

“I thought by now Okorocha should be hiding his face in shame after he lost his bid to install his son in-law and win his senatorial election,” he said in a statement.

“Despite all the billions he spent to stop me and the APC in the state from the results from the polling units show I won the election and we will prove it.

“But Okorocha has lost his deposit and he is finished politically. He is an expert in running people down but God has punished him today.

“This same man worked against the APC and he has the gut to speak about others. I challenge Okorocha for a walk in the streets of Owerri if Imo people will not stone him.

“Thank God all his conspiracy against us has ended and he has buried himself politically. I expect by now he should be apologising to the people of Imo State for the crime against God and humanity he committed.”
