imperiouxx: Finally, this night I got in mail an acceptance letter to study medicine as PA (Physician Assistant).
I would be specializing in Surgery (Cardiothoracic).
What a marvelous gift for Xmas. All thanks to God.
Cheers! https://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/party/party0016.gif First of all, congratulations on your admission to study medicine as PA. In my opinion, i would say, this is a great achievement for you. It is only an illiterate that would belittle this kind of achievement. If you really know the best selling major in america, then you would know that anything under medical field is like a gold here. Once again, Congratulations Imperiouxx sky is your starting point. i see you i see great future. i would just want you to try to ignore all haters. |

beautysky: Hi guys, my visa was approved today. I am not a very active user of this thread, but I am obliged by common sense to share my transcript. I must confess I didn't expect the questions asked. The visa officer was relaxed and very conversational with hand signals to cut me short when I talk too much; perhaps.
Me &Vo: Salutation V.O: Now tell me, what's it about this school?: I'm. Impressed with the course structure, it lays emphasis on empirical learning. I was particularly looking for schools that offers high level of experiential learning. V.O cuts in with his hand When did you leave secondary school?: 2003 When did you leave University: 2009 How old are you?: Told him Where do you work?: Told him How many years have you been working?: told him Who is your sponsor: my brother How much is your Salary? Told him Did you undergo any test before admission into this school?: Well, yes. I had an admission selection interview by the head of department. Vo cuts in, I'm fine with that Vo: scrolls the pages of my pp and asks why I frequent Dubai: said I'm a member of an international organisation that holds bi-annual meetings in Dubai , the organisation of which I'm a senior fellow VO: I'll go ahead and issue your visa Bla Bla Bla.
Once more, I thank djmakson and Texrem for the sober opinion intervention when I made error on my gtbank payment On the other hand, I'd like to meet and know any member of this thread residing in California and most importantly San Francisco.... Fesobi92: My flight was scheduled to leave naija thursday morning at 6.30am. So, i left for lagos on Wednesday and got there around 5pm. After booking an hotel, I went to the nearest eatery to have a last taste of naija dish; fufu and aphan soup and it was so great. Fast forward to 11pm, I left for the airport. We got there around 12.10am and realized check in will start around 2.30am. This is contrary to what I was told that check in starts 24hrs to your departure. Anyways, we hanged around the airport premises. Naso naija police carry their usual nonsense come say we nor fit park at the roadside. One even deflated our tire. I was so enraged but couldn't do anything as I don't want my yankee dream to be delayed whatsoever.
Finally, we went to the parking garage not far from the entrance. I learnt you'd have to pay a sum of 400 naira per hour for your stay in the garage but we got lucky the security guys were not around. So, we quickly left before they resumed work (They resume work around 4.30am).
The check in started around 3am proper. I was given a tag to write my name, address, and final destination which was attached with my baggage. First were the immigration officers where I parted with #1000 in order to avoid any delay. Nah owo omogo tho but nah esha. By this time, I promised myself I won't be coarsed to pay any money again. I went to weigh my bags and they were on point. I was given my boarding pass as a result. I had completed the first phase of the check in at that time. So, I had time to play with my family and friends.
Fast forward again, it was time for my departure. So, I waved goodbye to my family and friends. Mehn, it was so emotional knowing I was finally leaving my mum for yankee. It was a bitter sweet moment but I had to go. i passed all the security men and didn't give them a dime.
The next series of event were all foreign to me cos it was my first time entering an aiplane. So, I started praying that God my plane will not do sosoliso this time ooo and am not going to fall like agagu. I got some comfy after praying and took my sit. As the plane started flying, mehn I can't explain how I felt like say my mind Wan cut comot for my body. Naso i start to pray oo say God you no carry me come die for here ooo. I didn't know it's the normal thing but thank God it was a smooth journey to casablanca.
The moment I entered casablanca, I knew naija was under spell and nobody can remedy the situation there. Come see casablanca o. Chai smh(naija na scam ). The breeze was peaceful, mildly cold and orderliness was present here. After doing the normal check in, I started to Waka around the beautiful stores inside the airport. Chai, Morocco make sense oo. Mehn, you need to come and see for yourself. After waiting for about 5 hrs(with the company of free wifi), we were taken into a bigger plane en route yankee. It was a long journey with pleasant facility in the plane but not so pleasant food. The best feelings came after seeing the aerial view of Washington dc. Chai, baba God I thank you for bringing me; the boy from no where, all the way to see the magnificent yankee. Brother, yankee fine ooo. I thought I was dreaming cos I only see the view in movies but was now seeing it live and direct. After a long queue, I went in to the poe cubicle.
Me: Hello officer Thomas, how you doing today? Officer: ooh am doing good man. Can I have your passport pls? Me: I passed my passport and i20. Officer: so why are you in the us? Me: Am going to the uni of Memphis for my PhD in maths. Officer: ooh wow that cool. So what are you going to do with a PhD? Mayflowa: I am sorry if you were hurt by my statement. Because you needed someone to studied with, I was wishing if you were with the TWU's girl, you guys would have made a reading partners. Somehow, you even knew her. Your saying she can't face a certain level mathematics was not even fair to her. All courses have more or less same challenges- Mathematics, Medicine, Mechanical engineering up to Music.
We have been here night and day advising people on GRE, admission and Visa which you have benefited from just like we got some time past. So a another advise on reading hard after you have complained using YouTube flared you that up!
I have done most of your Mathematics courses bro including your real analysis. Yes it is hard but not killing. You can even enjoy it if you know the trick. I do apply your mathematics in real life in my work as a Doctoral Mechanical Engineering student.
For example I designed and built this robot from scratch including manufacturing the materials in one course. I can't tell you the interdisciplinary knowledge I drew upon including mathematics, programming and control. So I know the challenge we all face but I was motivating you that Nairalanders ought to be at the top because we know who we are. Apology accepted. I made the bold statement because she didn't have the abstract math background because they have a style of approaching them when we talk of notations and writing proofs. however, i didn't really mean she can't do them i just said because the way they are, she might need extra effort to tackle them. And yes if you know the trick you will enjoy it. thanks |

Mayflowa: Hey calm down. I didn't insult you. Can't you use some advice. So you mean to tell me some YouTube video won't be helpful in your course? So all the courses I mentioned aren't part of your courses you will be taking to graduate in Mathematics? Were you expecting I would list all of them?
The people that studied with you are kind people. In graduate school, no one have time for the other except you came from same country. I was only sorry that you had to go through the stress of asking for such favor.
Bro, mathematics is a natural skill. There are young lad that crack adult mathematics. For you to continue in mathematics, you must have had flair for it. At least, none of this should be new to you at Master levels.
But like I said, it is good you were able to pull through I don't even know how to categorize your level of thinking about mathematics. you think mathematics is all about calculation right ? Get close to a pure and/ or an applied mathematician, ensure you look through their notes or you can simply google stuffs on it. you dey here dey talk like something i don't even know. Natural skill ko mammi water skill ni. I will try my best not to insult you. Try to show a matured person your posts and see what they think of it. That one self they talk matured reply SMH for you both. It's hard but we were able to survive it with good grade shikenna |

hardeorlah: lol. your reply got me laughing. I do math and statistics. So there is nothing like management mathematics. No course is easy, they are all challenging. So you can't say statistics is easy. Maybe you should come try Statistical programming with R or SAS and let me know if it is a piece of cake no jare i never said your course is easy, however, everyone here knows what's going in mathematics and statistics. i got friends in statistics who keep telling me how hard mathematics is. anyone can come from any major to do statistics but if you are doing mathematics, one must have a solid background in courses like analysis, algebra, PDE/ODE. This guy got me angry by comparing someone with me. thats so insulting. Why would he be saying someone that does not have a math background is getting an A, or saying something like i am suppose to be leading my class. And who told him i didnt get A in all my courses ? The fact that i faced challenges at the beginning doesn't mean i didn't get a good grade. i will chat you up somewhere else jare my sister. |

If thats what you call math then you're so wrong, those are elective courses. we are talking of courses like Real analysis, Modern and abstract algebra, topology etc those are the core for ms math degree (where you wan get youtube video for that one) and they are freakin hard. Last time i checked Esther is in more of the statistics option. Tods thank you so much jare.. I was about giving the guy like 7 pages of reply before i saw yours jare. Some people will just carry their mouth come here kon dey run wetin them no know. I talked to Esther in the beginning of this semester and she was like mehnn she respect me for the couses i am doing. That she can't even do them. i doubt if she can even do 5000 level analysis without complaining not to talk of 6000 analysis. In a nutshell, I think she's just doing all this management mathematics ... I doubt if she's doing the real mathematics.(pure and applied mathematics). This guy's reply sound insulting and i can insult him back. let me wake up |

She studies mathematics in Texas Women Uniersity and had never had less than an "A" in any of her courses. Mind you, she didn't do mathematics in her undergraduate course o.
