kenniez26: @ gunther6 I have written IELTS since 2014 but I did not use it for the application because they accept certificate of English as a medium from my school.my profile is not that hot.it is 3.92/5.the department of civil for MSc do not require GRE during admission stage but they require it if u want to apply for graduate assistantship.I only apply for this only for now.I plan to apply for Cleveland State University Ohio and Milwaukee school of engineering no application fees but GRE is needed. Yes ,planning is on the way for GRE exam at least for the visa interview if not for anything. Thanks for the advice gunther6. @lagosismyhone no where is save in the world.recently we heard about black killing blacks.black killing police ,police killing black .black and white killing one another like in Texas and I think Louisiana recently.I think last week and not in Illinois this time we should Jus have to pray for God protection.no where is saved in the world it is only God that protect. As per ranking 173 out of many thousands of Universities in USA.I think I will give them credit you're sighted jare my brother. Everybody can not go to havard or other top ranked schools. I think. 173 is a good ranking |

Kpimp: @akin ur 2 kobo wud b much appreciated I chose to study mathematics because I want to have more knowledge in the modeling aspect of mathematics which can be used to solve real life problems such as helping many companies minimize their cost and maximize profits and I believe having a degree in mathematics will be a great asset in starting my career here in Nigeria as I will be able to work in any leading companies like Nigeria bottling company, Nestlé.... You may not use it the same way I wrote it. Try to get the key points and develop it on ur own and other people's opinion is welcome. My 2 kobo |

Kpimp: a mathematics, statistics, comp sci and information tech major can become a data analyst The best thing is to talk more about mathematics than the features looking like computer sci. Talk about modeling... I can still help with my 2 kobo. I'm also a mathematician |

Cambells: VO: So why are you going to study this course? Me: I want to study physics because it will equip me logical thinking and problem solving skills which would open up a wide range of employment opportunities in the telecoms industry when I return to Nigeria. VO: Is this what you wanna do after your studies? Me: Yes, I would like to come back to Nigeria to work in one of the telecommunications company. VO: Who's paying for this? Me: My dad will be paying and I have a scholarship. VO: What does he do? Me: He's a banker at Wema Bank VO: Okay thank you for applying. You can pick up your visa in three days time. My interview was 9:30am today. The lady who interviewed me didn't even ask about my school (Troy University). It all happened within seconds and God took control. Walspring: Before if your bar code doesn't match, to reschedule is free and when the statistics are getting out of hand and people misused it, took it for granted that's when payment for another visa fee started same thing applicable to changing and updating of ds160 confirmation directly from applicant appointment profile, before applicant can do it on his/her own after booking appointment interview but now applicant must send email to the embassy to update if for the applicant. Actually why I got TB was that I changed the DS 160 bar code on my appointment page a day to my interview which was on a Sunday because of a little error on the former DS 160. I think the concept is one can track the status of ur DS 160 code before and after the your interview. It will say READY a day to your interview, REFUSED if one is been denied and ISSUED if your visa is granted. |

OluDare01: Pls I wanna ask Those they sent back because their barcode didn't match, what's their fate? Will they pay another visa fee or reschedule It happened to me too. I was 'Turned Back' and was given a TB form which instructed me on how to reschedule. They may need to pay another fee if they haven't exceeded the reschedule limits. I had to pay another visa fee I guess I must have exceeded the limit. |

pgiddy: I would be selfish if i dont post the transcript of my visa interview. My interview was for 9.00 but i was eventually interview by a young lady at window 5 around past 10. The woman actually gave the guy before me a denial, but i just trusted God that i would not be denied. As the guy left and i was about stepping forward, the woman asked for permission to leave, and she left for about 5-7 minutes. I was just praying that i should not be redirected to the other VO guy at window six, who had been denying everybody visa (as far as i know). The woman eventually came back and this was how my interview went. Me: Good Morning VO: Morning VO: Where are you going to in the US? Me: I am going to Montana State University VO: What do you want to go and do? Me: I am going for a Masters in Mathematics at Montana State University VO: What did you do in your bachelors degree? Me: I had my bachelors degree in Mathematics VO: What year did you finish school? Me: 2012. VO: Where do you work? Me: I worked at a research company? VO: What is your job description at the company? Me: I carry out mathematical and statistical analysis for the firm, i train clients on the use of mathematical and statistical softwares, i interact with clients who come with their research work. VO: Who is sponsoring you? Me: I am being sponsored by the University and the department. I got a full scholarship together with a GTA. VO: (She made an expression of surprise on her face). What made you qualified for this scholarship? Me: The school was impressed with my statement of purpose, my transcript and my GRE score. In addition, i also had a Skype interview with two professors in the department (i mentioned the names of the professors) VO: What did you have in your GRE? Me: I had 150 in verbal, 159 in quantitative and 4.0 in analytical writing. (She then asked me to pass my GRE score, which she looked at) VO: How many schools did you apply to? Me: I applied to IIT, FIT, MSU and New Mexico Institute of Tech. VO: What made you choose MSU? Me: I chose the school because MSU offers a Mathematics programme that suits my career goals and research interest. I was also fascinated with the fact that the department of Mathematics and Statistics are under one department which is the department of Mathematical sciences. Hence, I have the opportunity of combining some statistics courses together with my mathematics courses without having to spend more than two years. I also have a senior colleague and friend in the school who is also a graduate student who spoke highly of the school. VO: Okay, i would be approving your visa, make sure you ................. blah blah blah My advice: pray pray and pray, be confident, watchout! there are some answers you should never give, read nairaland thread over and trust GOD. Thumbs up to guys who also posted their transcripts here, and a big thanks to DareFadi, your words of encouraging was greatly helpful. Wow. Interesting transcript. Great mathematician. Are you going for pure math? Pls let's talk. |
