DonCrack: A suicide bomber on Sunday morning attacked Shuwa community in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State killing himself and a resident.
The attack occurred at about 7.30 a.m. near a village church ( St. Pius the XI Catholic Church) at about the time residents were going for their Sunday service.
“The suicide bomber seems to be aiming to attack a church in the village but ended up blowing himself not far away from the church,” the source who asked not to be named for safety reasons said.
Papka Medugu, a parishioner who witnessed the incident, told SaharaReporters on Sunday morning that suspected Boko Haram members “targeted our church while the morning mass was going on, but to God’s glory they both exploded before they could access the church”.
“Vigilant Catholic cadet boys on patrol around the church vicinity prevented the bombers from gaining entry into the church, thereby forcing the explosives to detonate before getting to their target,” the eyewitness said, just as he confirmed that only the two bombers were killed in the incident.

The Federal Government on Monday said it would not consider a Government of National Unity being canvassed by some Nigerians following the outcome of the 2019 presidential election which was won by President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), President Buhari, who was seeking re-election, garnered 15,191,847 votes to defeat his closest rival, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, who polled 11,262,978.
Atiku has already rejected the result and vowed to challenge it in court.
However, some Nigerians, including political parties, have asked Atiku not to go to court while asking President Buhari to form a Government of National Unity.
Speaking with our correspondent on Monday, a top government official said those clamouring for a Government of National Unity should perish the thought as the constitution did not provide for that.
“Is there a provision in the constitution for Government of National Unity? The election has been conducted, INEC has declared a winner.
“The opponent who came second has refused to congratulate the winner and insisted on going to court. We wish him good luck.
“Why will anybody even think of a Government of National Unity? The election was a free, fair, and credible election and it was endorsed by both local and foreign observers.
“It was not a close contest in any way. The winner has emerged. Why will anybody moot the idea of Government of National Unity as if there is a constitutional crisis? They should perish the thought because it will never happen,” he said.
Also speaking, Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, said the government would not consider the option as it was not in the constitution.
“What does the constitution say about Government of National Unity? The question does not arise,” he said.

bilms: Bernie Sanders, US president in waiting - Mr Rights https://mrrightsng..com/2019/03/bernie-sanders-us-president-in-waiting.html?m=1
Most popular US senator, Bernie Sanders has announced is entrance into the 2020 US presidential race.
Two days ago, the runner up to Hilary Clinton in the race to 2016 democratic nomination launched is 2020 campaign at Brooklyn with over 1 million volunteers across the country. People ordinarily wouldn’t vote for any unknown third party. This is the same all over the world. Voting for an unknown third party will be extremely hard, especially a third party, whose campaign they are not seeing on TV and Radio almost all the time.
But you can still break the jinx, says Bernie Sanders, a strong U.S presidential candidate in the 2016 general election, now the major candidate in the race for 2020.
Before venturing into politics, many thought it was impossible for a third party candidate to win election in U.S.
To a lot of people, only Democrats and Republican are destined to win, but Bernie disagreed. He believed that, if Democrats and Republican can do it, others can do it too.
In 1971, Bernie Sanders contested for U.S Senate election as an independent candidate and lost. He didn’t only lose that election; he got just 2% of the total vote cast. But he said to himself, this isn’t bad. I will try again.
In 1972, he ran for Governor. This time, he didn’t only lose; his votes went down to 1% of the total vote cast. He was not discouraged still. He said to himself once again, this isn’t bad, I will try again. In 1973, he ran again for Senate and lost. This time, he got 4% of the total vote cast. In 1975, he ran again for governor and still lost. He got 6% of the total vote cast.
In 4 years, he ran 4 times and lost in all 4 attempts. After the 4th attempt, he retired from politics for 5 years.
But in 1981, 5 years later, some people from his state came to him to run for city mayor. It’s more like a Local Government Chairman Election in Nigeria. He was reluctant at first due to his 4 previous failures, especially after running for Governor and senate, but he oblige.
Bernie Sanders ran this time again for Mayor as an independent candidate and surprisingly, he won the election by just 14 votes. It was unbelievable; an independent candidate defeated the almighty Democrat and Republican Party.
But this was a democratic strong hold nobody thought an unknown candidate could win. So, while Bernie and his supporters were celebrating the victory, the Democrat runner up could not believe this unknown independent could win, he challenged the election result. He believed there must have been an error somewhere.
The votes had to be recounted and after the vote recount, Bernie still won, but this time with less than 10 votes.
Although, he has won and scaled through the first hurdle, he has to work with the elected democrat city council official.
This means that, he can’t hire his own staff. As a matter of fact, the personal secretary he hired was sacked by the city council officials. Those democrats didn’t allow him govern with his own ideas. This went on for about a year, until in 1982 when another city council election took place.
Bernie urged many new guys to run for City Council election and they did.
He campaigned for them and among these guys, 6 won. These 6 winners gave him the required veto power to get his ideas running.
After taking charge fully with his own like minded team, he embarked on several pro masses reforms and he got re-elected after 2 years in 1983. He ran again in 1985 and still won.
Faced with opportunity to move up in the political ladder, Bernie ran again for governor in 1986, but he lost the governorship election. This time, he got 14% of the total vote cast.
2 years later in 1988, he ran for Congress seat and lost. He was the runner up with 31% vote, trailing the winner who got 34%. He was determined to run again. He said to himself, if as an independent candidate, I can have 31% of the votes, definitely, I can get even more. So in 1988, he ran again for U.S Congress and this time, he won with a very wide margin. He got more than 50% of the total vote and ever since, he has been running and winning.
Today, Bernie is the longest serving Congress man in the history of U.S.
In 2016, for the first time in history, he joined the Democratic Party to run for U.S presidential election.
He was rigged out by the establishment, but despite losing due to rigging, he has remained consistent with is nationwide advocacy for the issues affecting the ordinary people. Today, he his the most popular politician in U.S, even more popular than the President in terms of favourable rating.
After losing the Presidential election, he created a massive peoples organization called the Our Revolution, a nationwide organization that is forcing those in authority to listen to the people. Most of his ideas have gained nationwide acceptability and this is going to define the race for 2020.
The organisation, Our Revolution is articulating the issues and proffering solutions. Through his position at the Congress, Bernie is sponsoring bills to advance the cause of the people and mobilizing them to hold their representative accountable to ensure those bills scale through.
Today, Bernie is 76years old, but he his running to win the US Presidency in 2020.
As i have consistently said in the past, if he runs again in 2020, he will become the next President of United States of America and now that he's running, he is like a president in waiting.
The point here is that, it doesn’t necessarily have to be one of the two major parties. Young people must be courageous enough to go under smaller parties.
A small party of yesterday may eventually become the big party and the unknown candidate of yesterday may become the most popular candidate today.
It also doesn’t necessarily have to be about age. An old competent and dedicated person maybe more useful than a young thoughtless person. Age is not a reason to throw competence and capacity to deliver to the gutter.
Politics is the only realistic means to good governance in a democracy. If you elect a fool to be your representative, you will be forced to live by the laws he make. If you elect a looter, you will live by the consequence of his looting.
And provided the wrong people remain in government, the status quo will always remain. Nigerians really need to enlighten themselves a lot. I've listened to analysis on BBC and Aljazeera and it's very apparent Sanders stands a very bright chance of winning in 2020. He got millions of $ in donations under 24 hours of declaring his intention to run and supporters trooped out in millions to support him. You've got to see his ideals and manifestos |

Godjone: Okon Bassey in Uyo
President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday alleged that the votes of the people of Akwa Ibom State were stolen during the recent presidential and National Assembly elections, vowing that they would be reclaimed through proper channebookSpeaking yesterday through the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, at a town hall meeting held by the elders and stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Uyo, the state capital, the president called on the electorate in the state to defend their votes during Saturday’s governorship and State Assembly elections in the state.
Buhari said it was doubtful that the former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio lost the election, alleging that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) robbed Akpabio and the APC of victory at the polls.
He maintained that all the wrongs done during the presidential and National Assembly elections would be addressed through proper channel. “What happened on February 23 was robbery. The votes of the people were stolen but we are not deterred. The president sent me to thank you today. We are going to make sure that everything that was stolen on the February 23 would be restored.
“It is not possible that Senator Godswill Akpabio lost. We are in no doubt that Senator Akpabio is the elected senator of Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district. I and Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the party have been in the opposition for long and we cannot be defeated anymore. “Everyone of you should go out to vote on Saturday and defend your votes; we cannot be cheated; not only you but tell your neighbours to vote for Obong Nsima Ekere and all APC candidates. Wait for your votes to be counted. It is the duty of the federal government to provide security and we will do that. We will recover every one of our votes.
Also speaking, Oshiomhole said the party was not in the state to lament but to thank the people of the state for doing their jobs and voting President Buhari.
He alleged that INEC colluded with some of the electoral officers to deny the state of its electoral victory on February 23, even though he claimed that the people voted for the party.
“We have not come here to brag that our mandate was stolen last week. We have come to thank you that you voted for President Buhari, and all members of the party. You did your job but some armed robbers in INEC stole your votes. “You think that those who stole your votes will have peace? We have come to reaffirm our commitment with democracy. We have come to affirm that no robber will go unpunished but when an electoral umpire is corrupt and collude with the opposition, we have the witnesses and we have lawyers to deal with that. “On Saturday we are not going to wait for them to steal out votes. We call on Akwa Ibom people to protect their votes. We must maintain our sanity even in this hour of provocation. Those who committed democratic abortion would be brought to book,” he said. In his speech, the APC governorship candidate in the state, Nsima Ekere encouraged the people not to be deterred by the February 23 elections but to go out and vote during the March 9 elections, saying the party is sure of victory. He said the people of the state were in need of change and proved it during his campaigns across the 31 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state. Ekere assured the president that after March 9 elections, the state would not be in the opposition but would be reunited with the centre “Thank you for what you are doing for APC. The people voted for you; that vote is a revalidation of what the people want. You put Nigeria’s economy back on track.
“We are here because we have faith in you and Mr. President. The opposition and INEC have no choice than to give us back our mandate. Whosoever shall attempt to work against the collective will of Akwa Ibom people, we shall collectively resist. “We send a message to the electoral umpire and the other party that they must respect the votes of the people, every vote must count. Akwa Ibom people love APC”.

Politics › Re: Tinubu Bans Ajimobi From Appearing At APC Governorship Rallies by akintunde63: 1:35pm On Mar 04, 2019 |
Kayus4real: APC’s woeful outing in Ajimobi’s expected stronghold has prompted protests from party leaders, with Bola Tinubu, the National leader, now personally overseeing the campaigns in a desperate bid to prevent a potential surrendering of the governorship to the PDP.
Abiola Ajimobi, the outgoing Governor of Oyo State, can no longer attend governorship campaign events of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, SaharaReporters understands. Ajimobi lost his Oyo South Senatorial District bid to Dr. Kola Balogun of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 105,720 votes to Ajimobi’s 92,579 votes, meanwhile the other two senatorial slots were won by the APC. To worsen matters, of the five federal constituencies in Ajimobi’s Oyo South, APC won only one, while PDP has already won three and is set to claim the fourth when the election is concluded this weekend.
APC’s woeful outing in Ajimobi’s expected stronghold has prompted protests from party leaders, with Bola Tinubu, the National leader, now personally overseeing the campaigns in a desperate bid to prevent a potential surrendering of the governorship to the PDP. And one of what Tinubu has quickly done, apart from buying off Adebayo Alao-Akala’s candidature, is to ban Ajimobi from showing up at APC governorship campaign meetings involving Bayo Adelabu, the party’s candidate.
“The belief of Tinubu and other APC leaders is that it is Ajimobi that the people are angry with — not APC — therefore he should stay away from campaign activities,” an APC source very familiar with the development told SaharaReporters. “The fear is that Ajimobi’s appearance at Adelabu’s campaign rallies will be damaging for the party. In fact, there is a jingle of the party begging the people, explaining that Ajimobi, not the party, is the fall guy. Since the presidential and national assembly elections, Adelabu has been campaigning on his own — without the Governor’s involvement.”
In the said jingle, listened to by SaharaReporters, APC “begged” all indigenes of the state in the name of God and in the names of prominent Yoruba sons such as Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Governor Bisi Akande and Tinubu. The party also mentioned President Muhammadu Buhari and Adams Oshiomhole as begging the people, and specifically censured Ajimobi for his pride in disrespecting the Olubadan of Ibadan, among many other offences. With Alao-Akala’s withdrawal for Adelabu, Tinubu has already gained inroad into Ogbomosho, where the party could not campaign ahead of the February 23 elections.

They would av won Oyo state for Buhari if they had realized the negative perception of the stupid Ajimobi on time. It was the negative/protest voting against Ajimobi that led to PMB's loss in Oyo, and that of other national assembly seats in Oyo State, I believe this move by Tinubu could help APC salvage the situation. |

AreaFada2: On $1 = 1 Naira we stand.
So Buhari didn't know the economic effect of promising the above? So anyway you twist Buhari doesn't know what he's doing. Forget the tortoise & hare story of CBN being in charge.
If our currency is truly worth anything or supported by the touted trade balance, why fix the rate? Let it trade freely to test it's mettle. That is what free market economy is about. Oh I forget, Buhari would rather run a Sharia economy.
We have a negative balance. Only that the huge amount of smuggled imported goods do not enter official records anymore. Nigeria's economy will head for doom if the naira is allowed to float freely. Did u forget it was heading for somewhere between N500-N600 to $1 at some point? |

This is a great development, one of the best news I've read in years. The PDP government laid the foundation for recession despite the oil windfall recorded during their reign, PMB assumed power and the recession whose foundation had been laid reared its ugly head which was promptly decapitated. But unfortunately, everyone is saying Baba's performance has bee abysmal, perhaps because they were not allowed to steal of our treasury as the case had been before his assumption of office. Whatever the case, I'd say this a really commendable development. |
